It was planned that the avenue would become a promenade leading from the communication center of #NowaHuta - #PlacCentralny, and to the administrative center of the city - #PlacRatuszowy. However, the plans to mark out the square and build the town hall were never realized. In the 1970s, however, the avenue acquired a special character - it became the arena of communist celebrations, due to the installation of a seven-ton statue of Vladimir Ilyich #Lenin in 1973. @enha_trip takes you down #communism times in #NowaHuta - here you can see a before/after photo of #AlejaRoz (#Polish for Roses Alley), where #Lenin's statue used to reside. In 1979 2 bombs were planted at his feet, but only one discharged and destroyed one foot of the statue.
