Title: The Unexpected Wedding Guest
Fandom: Love Island the Game and Fire Emblem Three Houses
Category: F/F (Alecto/Dorothea)
Rating: T
Word count: 2354
Summary: THERE'S NOTHING LIKE A WEDDING TO PUT YOU IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE…
Alecto Delyth Carrow had known Dorothea Arnault for years. She was like a big sister to her. But when she saw her at her sister Natalie’s wedding, it wasn't sisterly affection she was feeling…
Dorothea Arnault had always had a little crush on her best friend's sister, but she would have been silly to think she actually saw her as more than a pal. So why was Alecto suddenly acting so strange? And when she touched her, was that really electricity she felt?
Could these two friends stop trying to save each other from themselves and admit they'd fallen in love?
(Written for Unconventional Courtship 2023, based on The Unexpected Wedding Guest by Patricia McLinn.)

This thing was ridiculously difficult to operate! And the options were super limited. Anyway, the top two are Alecto and Olivia, and the bottom one is Quinn. Alecto’s likely the most familiar, the other two are newer. There were limited glasses options and no piercing options, Alecto has a nose piercing and a fringe, and the hairstyles were equally as difficult for this one.

Alecto and Noah for the alternative LI thing
Hi Chantelle, thanks for the ask!
Alecto definitely doesn’t want kids, which would be a problem for them, definitely. Noah does fit her personality, and the fact she values quiet time and is very introverted. Part of the reason she doesn’t want kids is because she experienced having to raise herself partly after her parents divorced and her mum was working all the time. She’s aware that being a doctor means long working hours, and wouldn’t risk having kids only for them to grow up the way she did.
It would definitely be the kids issue that would break them up, pregnancy and children in general are two things she wouldn’t be able to handle, as well as her own personal decision to not pass on her disabilities. She tends to date child free people and stick solidly to that boundary, so they would work in the Villa but likely break up afterwards, but remain friends. Her long hours in work could possibly be an issue too, they’d likely have completely opposite schedules. She’s toyed with dating people who work in healthcare as they tend to understand her time constraints more. She’s experienced people feeling intimidated because of her being a doctor, and would be worried of Noah possibly following the same pattern he did with Hope.

Share Something Monday
Thank you so much for the tag @alienl0ve Have a little excerpt from chap 53 of LCBC. Sitting on these chapters is pretty difficult, and I can’t resist sharing this, parts of these chapters were super funny to write. I didn’t feel great yesterday, and had the tag this morning anyway, so I’m counting it as a Monday thing! Tagging @ravenadottir @juggalohenrik and anyone who wants to share something!
The rest of the girls moved back to the pool, leaving Alecto and Hope by the bar, and Marisol on the beach. Marisol returned from the beach and tapped Alecto’s shoulder, who turned in her seat. “Umm...I know you two are on strike from drama, but could you at least come back over there with me? Maybe if I have support, I’ll be able to do it. I’ve been so useless so far, I set off another argument earlier.”
Alecto giggled, not meeting Marisol’s eye. “I definitely won’t be any use. I feel so wobbly, is my hand wavering?” She put her hand close to her face and Marisol sighed and facepalmed as Hope joined in with the giggle fit.
Marisol noticed the empty jug in the middle of them and her eyes widened. “How much did you two have? Wait, did you drink an entire jug between you? And, no. Your hand is fine, it’s just the sangria.”
“Mayybe...quit being judgy, it was necessary to block out the arguing.” Alecto tried to wink at Marisol, massively over exaggerating it and opening her mouth at the same time.
“Please? Pretty please, you’ll owe me. I’m not even asking you to help.” Marisol clasped her hands together, blinking her eyes cutely. This was usually a technique her sister used, so it felt weird to follow in her footsteps.
“Fine. You’re probably going to keep doing…whatever you’re doing, so that’s not the reason. I just feel a little guilty about throwing you to the wolves like that.” Hope agreed. “Alecto, are you coming? You’re not having more alcohol, so you can either follow us or stay put.”
“I need the loo, so could you wait for me?” Alecto climbed off the stool, wobbling on her wedges. She couldn’t walk in a straight line and kept wobbling, moving backwards to hold onto the counter.
“Hold onto me. I’ll help you.” Marisol offered her arm, and helped Alecto over to the loo. The other girl kept giggling and rambling on about nothing much, and Marisol found herself tuning it out. She opened the loo door and waited outside for Alecto, wrapping her hair around her fingers in thought.
When the door reopened, Marisol helped Alecto back to Hope and studied Hope carefully. “At least you don’t seem quite as bad.”
“I’m just better at hiding it, and can at least walk straight. I’ve drank people under the table before.” Hope explained as they made their way to the pool.
“Yup, I definitely haven’t done that! I usually stick to two drinks, three if I’m being wild.” Alecto explained. She was speaking slower than usual, and Marisol found herself having to piece together the sentence.

For Astrid and Alecto: 💇 and 👖
Hi Sofi! Thank you so much for always sending these, it’s seriously appreciated x Excuse the wait, it’s taken ages for me to feel up to answering these, and actually getting the time is another thing. There’s a reason I always warn for things taking absolutely ages 😂 I’m having to relearn how to answer these, some of these answers are a little short and shit.
💇 for Astrid
What is your OC’s hairstyle?
Dark blonde, wavy. It’s a 2B with hair texture. She had a fringe when she was little and eventually stopped doing it. The fringe maintenance was doing her head in, so she grew it out eventually. Her hair stops at the small of her back. Maggie Rogers with long hair is a perfect representation of her.
How do they maintain their hair?
She sticks to certain hair products, has stayed with the same brand of shampoo and conditioner for a while. She frequently has it up with paintbrushes or pencils keeping it up, basically whatever’s on her desk at the time. She can’t always find scrunchies, hair clips or bobbles in the mess that’s her room, and art supplies work just as well. She’s accidentally dipped her hair in paint before but it suited her.
Do they wash it and/or cut it regularly?
With hair that long, she only washes it every other day and has the ends trimmed every six months.
Have they ever dyed their hair?
She’s dyed her hair ginger, pink, blue, dark brown, golden blonde and black. Both black and dark brown washed out her colouring completely, she suits lighter colours. She has natural strawberry blonde highlights in her hair, so ginger suited her quite well. Going more blonde also suits her, but she’d never go platinum blonde. She hated the pink, it definitely didn’t suit her overall vibe.
💇 for Alecto
-What is your OC’s hairstyle?
Long dark brown wavy hair with a fringe. She originally went without a fringe until a disastrous set of haircuts when she was 14-15 where it was far too short for her. She went for a chin length cut with a fringe which made her look much younger. She already has that issue due to having a baby face. She decided to keep the fringe and grow it back longer again, which took a while.
-How do they maintain their hair?
She lets it air dry and doesn’t tend to put heat products on it. She also leaves it loose mostly, occasionally does a French braid, ponytail or a bun. She has to tie it up and put it in a hair net for work, and she also does Marisol’s hair for fun and if they’re going out. Marisol struggles with anything hair related that’s not basic as she doesn’t have the time or patience for anything more than a wonky ponytail. Alecto’s learnt a lot of hair styles from her twin sister and has practiced a lot.
-Do they wash it and/or cut it regularly?
Usually washes it every other day, and gets the ends cut between every six months to a year. She used to cut her fringe herself every 2 months, but Marisol offered and she let her take over.
-Have they ever dyed their hair?
Nope, she was too scared to touch her hair. She’s heard too many stories about dodgy hair dyes.
👖for Astrid
-What type of clothing does your OC generally wear? Why?
She has a lot of jackets. She has a special denim jacket with a lot of badges on it that’s pretty distinctive. Also jeans and t-shirts are major things for her, she doesn’t care too much about clothes. She has a lot of ripped jeans and denim. Half of her clothes fit the whole artist vibe, and the other half fit the rebel vibe, she’s got two separate sides of her which are frequently at war. She also has some dresses and skirts for going out, and a couple painting shirts. She doesn’t wear anything she wouldn’t like to get messy when she paints for obvious reasons. The t-shirts are mostly old pyjama tops, and old t-shirts where they’re slightly too small or have something wrong with them.
-Do they have any “signature” accessories?
She has a nose piercing which she got when she turned 17 secretly, and the denim jacket definitely counts here.
👖 for Alecto
-What type of clothing does your OC generally wear? Why?
She has a lot of floaty dresses and skirts. She avoids anything too revealing as she’s not overly comfortable with her own body. Certain fabrics don’t sit well with her, and she avoids anything too big or it will swallow her up due to how short she is. She wears a lot of soft fabrics too, she has multiple of the same comfortable cardigan because of the feel of it. She tries to blend in as much as possible, so doesn’t wear anything that’ll cause her to stick out.
-Do they have any “signature” accessories?
She also has a nose piercing and always wears a bracelet to cover her soulmate words from view. She usually fiddles with her bracelet, unless she has her fidget spinner.

2, 12 and 22 for Alecto pls! 💙💜💙
2. What is their dream vacation?
Alecto definitely isn’t a big holiday person, but she’s always wanted to go to New York, so I suppose that fits x
12. Who would they sacrifice their life for?
Her cat Sadie, Marisol and her family. Likely not her mum, as they’re not close at all. So only the family she’s close to.
22. How do they react to criticism?
She definitely internalises it and shuts down. It can ruin her day and she disappears into herself.

B for all the characters you want to answer them for.
And also 10 for the oc's. :)
Thank you so much for the ask Debby! I’ll just answer these for Alecto as she’s closest to my heart so it’s easier to think of her answers. I’m surprised at how quickly I managed to answer, usually it takes months for me to answer asks! This is super long, I had quite a ramble for just two questions.
B: What inspired you to create them?
Alecto has grew considerably as a character over the years I’ve been writing for her. I started out in online RP communities and believed for years there wasn’t a place for me in media in general. Being told that disabilities shouldn’t exist in fiction because it’s fiction is so frustrating and isolating, and originally Alecto only had anxiety and depression. But I took heavily from my own behaviours anyway so once I’d pushed past the internalised ableism surrounding me and my rare condition, I was able to give it to her as a way to work through a lot of the feelings I had myself about it.
I grew up struggling to relate fully to fictional characters in general, not many of them had visible scars or disabilities and a lot of the ones who did were evil/villains. Evil was synonymous with ugly people with disabilities, and being both unconventionally attractive and disabled was a considerable mess to work through. Especially when I was told I wasn’t disabled for so long that I believed it and was offended when an ex friend pretty much told me they only became friends with me because I was disabled. It hurt to hear that, especially being classed as disabled then being told I wasn’t by my family.
That particular situation is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone, as being aware you’re different but being not allowed to refer to yourself as such is such a mind fuck. So in giving Alecto that condition along with similarities to me in general, I started to accept myself and feel empowered by referring to myself as disabled. My rare condition is so rare that I don’t refer to it by name online, don’t want to risk it identifying me. Describing it works a lot better and I’m far more comfortable with that. On top of that, I later realised I was writing her as autistic while using some of my own mannerisms, basically writing an accurate autistic character by complete accident. I don’t regret that in the slightest, people have complimented me on my portrayal for her, especially the parts of it related to disability. I’ve grown as a person because I had that ability to do that.
Also, I can only remember one fic about an openly disabled character in the fandom overall other than LCBC. Disability is very rare in fanfic in the fandom overall, so writing something like this was always going to stick out. I’ve always been clear about what her character means to me and why it’s important.
10: What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?
For Alecto, it’s definitely something related to either her height or her frequent hand operations. She used to pretend she was 5’2, because she’s very conscious of her height and uses wedge heel boots to make up the difference in height. For her hand operations, there’s people who still believe she’s broken both arms because she got fed up with constantly explaining her rare condition and why her hands were the way they were. So she took advantage of the fact she had her arm in a sling due to having a cast on her arm anyway. Broken arm saves a lot of the extra questions.
She’s also careful with talking about her childhood, she hates pity and prefers to pretend that her dad and step mum were her proper parents. She’s dropped the labels anyway when it comes to referencing her half and step siblings, in her eyes, her step sister is her twin sister and her half sisters are just her sisters. She avoids speaking about her biological mum and bio siblings, they don’t exist to her. Some trusted people know her parents were divorced and she’s only in contact with her dad and siblings on that side. She hasn’t seen her bio mum at all since she was 16.
She doesn’t see the first two of those as lies, she laughs about the hand operation one now as her last operation was when she was 15, so the lie was convenient in school. She’s fed up with people talking down to her because of her not having the typical family experience, so the lie becomes necessary for the third one even though she feels a little guilty about it. Despite the way her bio mum treated her, there’s still a lingering regret and blame for the way she was treated. She still believes deep down that the problem was her, and if she wasn’t disabled and autistic with mental health issues she would’ve been fine.
But even before her parents divorced, her dad was the only parent to care about her. When she had the second most recent hand operation, her mum was supposed to take time off work to watch her, but refused to do it, leaving her in bed with anaesthesia still in her system and a large cast on her arm. Her mum bribed her to stay quiet about it, by some miracle she was fine and had stayed in bed, only getting up to eat and go to the loo. There’s a lot of occurrences she believed wasn’t right, but she found herself keeping quiet for fear of not being believed.

also random question but what inspired you to create Alecto's character?
Thank you so much for the ask!
Alecto’s one of my most constant characters, I’ve had her for nearly 6 years now. She started as just a minor HP character, who I latched onto majorly. I eventually adopted her as my own character about 2 years ago. Her character has changed a lot since I’ve grown as a person, but her name has remained a constant, she’s always been Alecto Delyth Carrow. She’s a major comfort character, just having her there has helped me through some of the worst times in my life as a whole. I have a rare condition, which is so rare I’ve never met anyone with the same condition, never mind a fictional character with it. Growing up, I felt like something major was wrong with me, as I struggled to relate to characters in general. So giving her the same condition along with anxiety and depression (for a slightly different reason) and more recently, having her be autistic too, was basically a way for me to tell little me, you’re not alone anymore and learning to accept myself, rare condition and all. It was a major gamble for me to do it, I did discuss it with people before I wrote it into LCBC. Thankfully there’s been no backlash for that part of it. Her ending up being autistic too was more me realising ‘hold on, she has so many of my own behaviour patterns, it isn’t too much of a stretch to have her be autistic too.’ I also write carefully in terms of mental health in my portrayal of her too, her character exists majorly to help me, and I write from my own experiences. I’m careful to be sensitive to the subjects I do write about. Hopefully that makes sense, that’s the full explaination. I took slightly longer to answer to give myself enough time to be able to articulate it well enough and be in the mood to answer it.

🦵 for Alecto?
Thank you so much for sending me so many of these, you’re awesome! As per usual, I take absolutely ages to answer crap, so yeah. I love any excuse to talk about OCs though, especially having a good ramble.
🦵 For Alecto:
Are your OC’s arms and legs strong, weak, or average? Why?
She can’t control her strength, so she’s the type of person to give the massive hugs which squish people, you know the type. It’s especially funny considering how tiny she is. She struggles with opening jars, juice bottles and cans though, as she hasn’t got much upper body strength. She can’t make it do what she wants, so usually gives Marisol all the cans to open. Marisol’s a bit more patient with opening stuff, so when Alecto’s pissed off Marisol, Marisol goes on opening stuff strike until Alecto gets fed up and apologises. Alecto’s far more stubborn if it’s Marisol who’s messed up, she has a lot of weird ways of opening jars.
She goes for regular walks and tries to take the stairs instead of the lift, but that’s more of her being scared of enclosed spaces. Which can be a problem when she has heavy shopping, as she lugs it up multiple flights of stairs. Marisol’s eventually convinced her to start using the lift with heavy items, as she’s frequently exhausted by lugging stuff and collapses on the sofa. She’s got a lot of weird stories about walks she’s been on, and has got into a lot of hairy situations. Including getting into a field with a bull in it and climbing out sharpish. She’s the type of person who prefers to walk into town over the bus, despite that walking takes an hour to get there, and a bus takes 20 mins. Marisol doesn’t like that habit of hers, but has learnt to deal with it.
Do they have any common mannerisms that involve their limbs, such as tapping their foot or fiddling with their fingers?
She’s always fiddling with something, she has a blanket on her lap usually at home and strokes a soft corner. Along with stroking her cat, Sadie. She also picks her skin if stressed, and there’s frequently small cuts on her skin. She tries to fiddle with her hair, or a fidget spinner, or anything to hand just so she can avoid picking, but doesn’t always succeed. She also links her hands together sometimes to stop herself from fiddling. She hates tapping and automatically tunes into people tapping. She’s frequently prodding Marisol to get her to stop tapping her foot or a pen on something.

14 & 21 for both Astrid and Alecto :)
Thanks so much for the ask x
14. Do they like hot or cold temperatures better?
Alecto is definitely more of a cold temperatures person. She can’t stand being too hot, and loves winter weather (apart from snow, she can’t stand it).
Astrid is the opposite and loves hot temperatures. She’s visited LA twice over the summer and loves going abroad during the summer.
21. How do they react to praise?
Astrid accepts it, she doesn’t try to deny it or make excuses. She’s confident in herself and her efforts, so is willing to admit that.
Alecto gets really nervous and awkward about it, she struggles to accept it. Even with true facts, such as her grades in uni, and the fact she got a first. Part of it is linked to the fact her efforts were never enough growing up, especially when she lived with her mum and siblings. After she cut contact entirely and moved to live with her dad, that helped. Her self esteem is still damaged from being compared to her siblings by her mum. Her dad doesn’t put as much pressure on her, he’s just happy that she’s happy. She’s also far closer to her half siblings because of the whole comparing thing her other siblings would participate in.
