This post is dedicated to Uncle Mac who was known as the inventor of the "Mac Method" of shell cordovan shoe care. He was also an Alden Shell cordovan and Argyle sock enthusiast. His favorite shoe was the Alden long wing in shell cordovan color #8. This is as close as I could get with what I personally own---Ralph Lauren "Marlow" shell cordovan shortwings and of course a pair of argyle socks. Rest easy Mac. #RIPUncleMac #Kingwingday #macmethod #alden #aldenarmy #shellcordovan #ralphlauren #marlow

Hunter-gatherers tend to have an egalitarian social ethos [1], although settled hunter-gatherers (for example, those inhabiting the Northwest Coast of North America) are an exception to this rule [2][3].
Nearly all African hunter-gatherers are egalitarian, with women roughly as influential and powerful as men [4].
In addition to social and economic equality in hunter-gatherer societies, there is often, though not always, sexual parity as well [5].
Ross Sackett performed two distinct meta-analyses to empirically test Sahlin's view. The first of these studies looked at 102 time-allocation studies, and the second one analyzed 207 energy-expenditure studies. Sackett found that adults in foraging and horticultural societies work, on average, about 6.5 hours a day, whereas people in agricultural and industrial societies work on average 8.8 hours a day [6].
A 2010 paper argued that while hunter-gatherers may have lower levels of inequality than modern, industrialised societies, that does not mean inequality does not exist. The researchers estimated that the average Gini coefficient amongst hunter-gatherers was 0.25, equivalent to the country of Denmark in 2007 [7].

Hey I’m non binary. I would love a name that when people heard it or saw it they got no hint what my gender is, the more neutral or ambiguous the better. If possible could I have some wild out there names and some “normal” names. Starting with A would be great and if it could have a Y that’s awesome but neither a must. Hope this isnt too much. Thank you.
For A ones:
Abbott, Aberdeen, Alcott, Adair, Alden, Arbor, Arlen, Arlo, Amory, Arden, Austin/Austen, Ainsley
For some non-A names:
Beryl, Tobin, Scout, Sailor/Saylor, Ever, Oak/Oakley, Marlow, Landry, Jett, Sloan, Zion, Bryn, Aya, Ripley

Kidnapped
Okay, I’ve entered the world of fanfic writing because my NCIS obsession has inspired loads of creativity. They’re not amazing or anything so far but we all got to start somewhere. So thought I’d start by posting one of my early ones.
Any feedback is appreciated as I’m looking to improve.
Tumblr media
Title: Kidnapped
You and the team are kidnapped but will Gibbs get to you all in time?
Prompts Used (prompts are found all over so credit to whoever thought of them): “If you kill them, you’d better kill me too, because otherwise I’m going to kill you.”
“I’m not gonna let you get yourself killed!”
Pairing(s): None.
Words: 1168
Characters: [Y/N] [Y/L/N], Leroy Gibbs, Ziva David, Anthony DiNozzo, Timothy McGee, Leon Vance, Alden Marlowe
“So what's your next bright idea, Agent DiNozzo?” Ziva quips.
Tony groans, “Er, that was all I had.”
“Great. Well done, Tony.” you sarcastically comment.
You, DiNozzo, Ziva and McGee are sat on the floor, back to back in a circle. Your back is opposite McGee's, while Tony's and Ziva's are the same. All of your hands are behind your backs, you feel someone fiddling with the rope that ties all your hands together.
“Tony, what are you doing?” you ask. “He's going to find us aren't they? Gibbs?” you worry. You still feel Tony fiddling behind everyone. “Damn it. Tony. Just leave it.” you reiterate.
“They should find us eventually.” McGee attempts to reassure you, but you don't feel too hopeful.
“What are you doing again, Tony?” Ziva wonders, as he continues to fiddle.
“I'm trying to get out of here. If I can break free, I can break you out and you can run off.” Tony confesses. He grunts and groans. “Ah, got it. I'm out.” he says quietly.
“Tony. No. You're not doing this. You can't. Marlowe won't hesitate to kill you at any given moment if he has to. Plus, we have no weapons now.” Ziva says. Everyone is dripping with sweat and dirt covers your faces.
“I have to. I have to protect my team.” Tony declares.
“Tony. Gibbs will find us. I’m not gonna let you get yourself killed!” you warn him. You can feel the swear dripping down your face. Tony stays in position but you can still feel him attempting to untie the rope from everybody else's hand. You feel the rope loosen and drop off.
“Stay where you are.” Tony tells you all quietly. “I've untied your rope but you cannot let Marlowe see you.”
“What are you gonna do?” Ziva asks. Tony notices McGee sudden look of desperation, McGee starts to hyperventilate.
“Probie? McGoo? You 'kay there, buddy?” Tony wonders.
“Yeah, I'm good. I just suddenly feel panicky. You being out like that freaks me out.” McGee confesses to him. You grab hold of Tim's hand behind you for comfort.
“You'll be alright, Probes. Just stay there. The girls will look after ya.”
Tony begins to canvass the room, hoping to find a weapon. He finds nothing. He decides to slowly walk out of the room. As Tony's left, you decide to get up and stretch your legs as Tony has already untied you all. Ziva does the same, McGee is hesitant but he needs a stretch, he needs air but none of you are going to get it in here, wherever here is.
“Where is Tony?” you wonder to yourself. You're all standing when as you begin to walk to the door, Tony re-enters, walking backwards, shortly after, Alden Marlowe follows, brandishing a gun, pointing it at Tony's head. Ziva grabs you and you grab McGee huddling together.
“Tony!” you yell, looking terrified.
“Get on the ground!” Alden shouts, pointing the gun in every direction. You all slowly drop to your knees. “Hands in the air!” he continues to yell. Hands are raised slowly, almost in unison with each other.
You all look on panicked, at Tony who seems to be taking the brunt of Marlowe's anger at your attempted escape. “Keep me. Let the others go.” pleads Tony.
“You're funny guy.” Marlowe replies in his American, with a hint of Eastern European accent.
“It's a perk of mine. I’ll show you more of that if you let these guys go.” Tony wits.
“Tony. No.” you yell him. “We're not going anywhere.”
“You know who we work for, huh? NCIS. Naval Criminal Investigative Service. And believe me, Marlowe that by the end of this, either you'll be exiting this building in cuffs or in the capable hands of Dr. Mallard. In other words, dead.” Tony gets a punch around the face for his troubles. Marlowe's gun continues to be waved around. He puts it directly in front of Tony's face. Your breathing get heavier as you become incredibly concerned for one of your best friends and your colleague. You pray to yourself that Gibbs will soon arrive.
The doors bang open. “Federal Agents. Stay where you are!” you all hear that familiar voice.
“Thank God!” you mumble. Tony looks a moment, Marlowe briefly takes his eye off Tony. Tony takes the opportunity. He punches Marlowe in the stomach causing him to fall back into the hallway. He's not injured and is still holding his gun, he gets up and marches in and grabs you. Pulling you out with the gun to your head. You are terrified, you try to hold in your tears as Gibbs taught you that sort of thing does not helpful. Tony looks on, he's closer, he looks scared, so does Ziva and McGee looks like he's going to pass out.
“Let them go, Marlowe!” Gibbs orders Alden.
“No.”
“Fine. If you kill them, you’d better kill me too, because otherwise I’m going to kill you.”
“That's a deal.” he replies, pushing the gun to your temple. You're scared look intensifies, you fight back your tears with all your might.
“I wouldn't if I was you, sir.” Vance tells him a he turns up behind him. “Put your weapon down.” Vance demands, Marlowe does not comply. “Put your God damn weapon down.”
“I'd listen to him if I was you, Marlowe. He's a damn good shot.” Gibbs says to him. Still holding his weapon. Alden finally drops his weapon, letting you drop down to the floor. Tony rushes to you. Your breathing is very high, irregular. You can hardly catch a breath. You sob in Tony's arms and he cuddles you as tight as possible.
“Hey, hey. You're okay now, [Y/N].” Tony soothes you. He briefly wipes blood away from his mouth. Vance takes Marlowe to the car, while Gibbs comes over to you, he crouches down to your level,
“You alright, kiddo?” he asks you in a calming voice that you love to hear.
“Yeah.” your voice shakes. “Thank you so much, Gibbs. And thank Director Vance too.” Gibbs smiles at you and gets up and leaves. Tony gets you up off the ground then Ziva and McGee come up to you, they both give you an individual hug before you all group hug.
“I'm missing a group hug: are you kidding me?” Gibbs seriously remarks. You and Ziva make a gap between you and Gibbs walks to the gap, he puts his arm around you both. You have your arm around him and Tony, Tony around you and McGee, McGee around Tony and Ziva and Ziva around McGee and Gibbs.
You are surrounded by the 4 people you consider your best friends the most in the entire world, and you will always look out for each other, no matter what.

Zine Review: Sequimming The Surface by Emily Alden Foster, Channing Kennedy, Gregg Lewis, and Lindsey Simard
Tumblr media
Sequimming The Surface Zine Front
Tumblr media
Sequimming The Surface Zine Back
Introduction Sequimming The Surface (A Trip From Oakland, CA To Sequim, Wa & Back) is a zine created by Emily Alden Foster, Gregg Lewis (I can’t find them), Channing Kennedy, and Lindsey Simard. It can be bought for $6. I think this was bought at the 2015 East Bay Alternative Book and Zine Fest…I can’t remember.
Thoughts It’s no secret around this blog that I love traveling. If it is, you must be new here (in which case, hello!). Sequimming The Surface is a zine comprising of daily comics, photographs, and writings from a weeklong road trip from Oakland, CA to Sequim, WA and back. After Emily got into Short Run Seattle, the four of them visited Sequim and the surroundings, fueled by a dream of moving away from the expensive Bay Area to something rural and far cheaper. They don’t end up moving out there, but you’ll have to read it to find out why!
Group travel, done with the right people, can be lots of fun. Shenanigans will always arise from a group of well-knit friends traveling together. The comics in this zine arise from the same shared experiences, but all talk about completely different things. Whether it’s about Marlow The Dog or a terrible open mic night, each person has a different idea on what to make their daily comic about. We all have a unique perspective of looking at the world, evident by the wide variety of subject everyone produces for the same trip. Maybe the next time I travel with someone I’ll propose we doing something similar, journaling our trip. It may be interesting to see what we choose to write down.

God’s Will for our Daily Lives by William Luke: This book clearly explains Christ’s teaching concerning God’s will for daily life. And it shows that His teaching is complete and final. These are the three main schools of thought today, and they are all flawed.
