Bomberos celebraron su día

Motivo por el cual el Cuerpo de Bomberos de Azogues efectuó una sesión solemne, donde se realizó la presentación y coronación de su nueva reina María Paz Palacios. El acto se desarrolló este viernes 6 de octubre, en el teatro “Guillermo Domínguez Tapia”, y estuvo matizado por la entrega de preseas y reconocimientos a cinco bomberos que cumplen 15 y 20 años de servicio a quienes se les entregó la condecoración cruz de fuego de segunda y tercera clase. También se hizo un reconocimiento especial a ocho bomberos que colaboraron en la búsqueda, rescate y recuperación de víctimas en el desastre del cantón Alausí; y, a dos bomberos que viajaron a Chile para la sofocación de incendios forestales. De igual forma, se entregó un reconocimiento post mortem a los familiares de Tito Geovanny Pinos. Además, hubo la firma de convenios de cooperación con los institutos Luis Rogerio González y San Isidro, así como con la Federación de Fútbol del Cañar, entre otros.

Jairo Araujo, primer jefe del Cuerpo de Bomberos, destacó el avance que tienen en cuanto a equipamiento con vehículos de combate de incendios y rescate, así como en capacitación, donde se realizan trámites para obtener un terreno en el que se emplace la escuela de formación de bomberos y con el tiempo llegar a crear un instituto propio. Actualmente, la institución cuenta con 50 miembros operativos administrativos. “Me siento orgulloso de cumplir 20 años, que han sido de trabajo y ayuda a la comunidad”, dijo Isaac Orellana, uno de los condecorados.
