What if everyone in hell was so used to Alastor hiding his thoughts behind a smile that no one noticed that once he'd returned from his 7 year hiatus, he literally couldn't stop?

Rosie and maybe Vox would be the only ones to realize what was happening, which is why Alastor keeps his distance from Vox after his return (he knows better to try to keep anything from Rosie)

What if the sinners looks are all actually based on the things they hated about themselves in their lives as another punishment of hell?

Angel hated being a part of a crime family, hated how they were all so closely woven together, and so he became a spider in hell. Maybe he actually hated all his feminine atributes when he was alive, maybe his family would make fun of the fact he was paler and thinner due to his obsessive drug use and thats why in hell he has overly exaggerated long limbs and a feminine build.

Alastor takes the form of a deer in his true demon form (antlers and the like) because he hated the idea of being prey, and the fact that he (a literal serial killer who probably took a lot of enjoyment from the power he held) was killed like some weak animal, literally hunted for sport. Maybe his yellowing teeth and obnoxious smile are actually there to remind him of what he couldn't do in life. Maybe he wanted to be a tv star or a stage star, but he couldn't because of the way he looked (yellow teeth, threatening smile = bad for tv in the 40s) and so he became a radio star because that way nobody can see his face.

Husk takes the form of frail looking cat because when he was alive, probably in his later years of life and gambling, he started to take less risks and became known as a "pussy" of a gambler. He was older than a lot of the people around him and was often pushed aside to make way to the younger, newer faces, and so in hell he keeps that sort of hunched over, older man look.

It's honestly not that complicated to understand alastors true intentions if you only look at his eyes. When you zero in on his eyes, the smile really just disappears because he is so emotional with them, like it's so clear everything he's doing is an act because of HIS BIG OL' PEEPERS
