How did Alaska take the “liberation” of Sovime, because they used to be Russian. Did Soviet treat them better, did they do recon (for the states) because they could speak Russian?
Alaska actually bounced before Soviet could fully integrate her. She’s already so far separated from the continental United States that Canada would be there to stop any foot march toward her borders (and he definitely fucking did. He was having NONE OF IT).
The one area of Russia close enough to Alaska to be a problem is so sparsely populated that Soviet would need to put a lot of effort into putting pressure on Alaska. Even the Russians currently in Alaska wanted nothing to do with the USSR (I can’t imagine how many of them had FLED from the USSR before 1991).
Essentially, Alaska has seceded from the United States. Which is much easier for her to do because of Soviet’s lack of access to her. And it didn’t take much to convince the US military that was there to be more of the Alaskan military.
It pisses Soviet off a lot because he can’t do anything. Any soldiers he sends there get gunned down by Alaskan civilians. And the remains are usually sent back to Soviet directly as an extra fuck you

The Not So Good Friday (Wattpad | Ao3)
Requested by @iabggsyk
Alaska wasn’t a big fan of cities. He preferred to live out in the woods, by himself and at peace with the world. However, that didn’t mean that he avoided cities entirely. He visited them occasionally, going to Juneau for political stuff his government wanted him to get involved with now that he was a state or just to look around at shops and restaurants.
Today, Alaska was in Anchorage, looking for a restaurant. It was about 5:30, and he was starting to get hungry. He had been in the city to buy some things for his home, like scented candles and yarn—little things that made Alaska’s life a little more peaceful and allowed him to make things for his siblings.
Especially NASA. The space organization realized how many stars could be seen from Alaska’s home and began to spend more and more time there. Alaska figured it was about time he made his baby brother a blanket, as NASA could not handle the cold.
Suddenly, the ground began shaking under Alaska’s feet, faster and faster, until it threw him to the ground, his precious bag of yarn spilling out into the street. Alaska pulled himself into the fetal position, more out of instinct than anything else, wishing he was in country form so he could have his wings to wrap around him.
He just had to wait out the earthquake.
As Alaska lay there, eyes squeezed shut. He felt the world shift around him. He heard glass shattering and buildings falling apart, and all he did was squeeze his eyes tighter, hoping it would end soon.
The earthquake seemed to last forever, a horrific symphony of shaking earth and shattering buildings, a storm that Alaska was caught in, as small pieces of debris cut at his body. It was hell on earth. Broken sobs made their way past Alaska’s lips as he prayed for God to make it stop, prayed that it end soon, and prayed that he would not be killed by the earthquake, an earthquake, unlike anything Alaska had felt before.
It felt as if the Earth itself was ripping apart.
Finally, the shaking of the land seemed to stop, but Alaska stayed where he was, as he could not tell if the land was still shaking or if that was his own trembling body.
He could hear his own breath, painfully loud against that silence that only seemed broken by pained cries and the creaking of buildings. Alaska lay there for another eternity before he finally opened his eyes.
Anchorage was destroyed.
Buildings lay crumbled. Sinkholes had opened in the streets. His biggest city was gone just like that. A shaking of the earth more powerful than Alaska had ever felt before. He felt lightheaded and faint and shakily climbed to his feet, stumbling slightly.
The city looked like so many Alaska had seen destroyed by war. It was hard to believe an act of nature could do that. Alaska closed his eyes as he tried to shake the horrible memories from his mind.
Suddenly, Alaska’s eyes flew open as he remembered the little brother who had been at his house. Alaska took another shaky step forward before transporting himself back to his house. It looked undamaged, but NASA was shaking in front of it, shivering and barefoot.
“Go back inside!” Alaska snapped at the organization, knowing how stupid it was for him to be outside in the weather. NASA’s head snapped back to face him, fear on his face.
“What was that? Did we get hit by a meteor?” NASA asked, his mind stuck in the stars like it always was. Alaska shook his head, grabbed his brother by the elbow, and guided him back inside. “Laska, you’re hurt!”
“It’s not bad. I’ve seen worse. But you’re going to be hurt worse if you stay outside.” Alaska said calmly. In all honestly, he had forgotten about the cuts and bruises, so focused on checking in on NASA and processing the destruction. “And that was an earthquake—a really bad one. I’ve never felt one like that before. I…”
Alaska shook his head, trailing off as they stepped inside.
“Are you okay? Should I get Dad? Dad can fix things, right?” NASA asked, his wings flaring out as he asked rapid-fire questions.
“Papa will find out and come check on us. I want to make sure you have no damage from the cold.” Alaska said, wanting to keep his genius little brother close before he inevitably ran off and got himself hurt, “Please, stay with me?”
NASA crossed his arms, analytical eyes scanning Alaska before he nodded.
“Fine. But I get to make sure none of your injuries are bad.” NASA said.
“Sure thing, little brother. I could use the help.” Alaska said, throwing a blanket over NASA’s shoulders before going to grab the first aid kit from his bedroom, stumbling slightly as he did so.
Alaska still felt like he was shaking, like the earth had yet to settle and was still shaking and shaking and shaking and shaking—
Alaska was pulled out of his thoughts by a wing on his back, NASA looking at him with concerned eyes. Alaska felt a pang of shame in his chest, having worried his little brother so.
“I’m getting Dad,” NASA said, his voice soft. Alaska nodded, throat seizing up as he was guided to his bed, with the blanket he had put on NASA being tucked around him. Alaska burrowed into the warmth, trying to shake the feeling of the earth heaving beneath his feet.
It did nothing to help.
Alaska still felt unstable and shaky.
He still felt like he was trapped in Anchorage as the earth pulled apart the city around him. Not even his father could remove the shakiness that had just been injected into his being.
Everything was shaking.
Nothing could stop that.

Do you have a drawing of Alaska from the chapter where he met Finland? His design seems intriguing by the way you described it, so I'm wondering if you have that drawn up or not yet.
I am not much of an artist, so I do not have any designs drawn up, and any art is very old and outdated. However, I do have a pretty detailed design written down.
Alaska is five foot ten and physically twenty-four. He has black eyes and straight black hair that hangs past his shoulders. He has pierced ears and a nose piercing and wears both modern and traditional Aleutian earrings.
In country form, his face is his flag, and the dark blue carries down the rest of his body. There are golden stars decorating his body from his flag.
In human form, he is often called mixed or Native American, 59.4 White-40.6 POC, based on the 2020 census (this is also a very loose definition, but I am trying to give you a good baseline for "mixed"). The largest ethnic groups are German, Irish, and Native Alaskan.
Alaska is well-built but skinny.
Animal Features
Alaska has the traits of an imperial eagle, a harbor seal, a horse, and an Alaskan salmon. The traits that he has from these are eagle wings, feathers covering his entire back and neck, seal fur on his arms and legs, horse ears, scales on his torso, and webbed toes. He gained his eagle traits in 1806, his seal traits in 1867, and his horse and salmon traits in 1910. His wingspan is 14.98 ft.
Scars
Alaska has a handprint scar on his left arm from when Hawaiʻi burnt him on accident.
Tattoos
Alaska has traditional male Aleutian tattoos on his face.
The most I have for him in terms of drawing is this depiction of his burn scars by @aloha-from-angel

Alaska!♡♡
Oh my goodness the colors were the worst part this time! I might revisit this when I’ve drawn all my favs, because there are definitely things that I might want to change in the future.
I’ll be honest, Alaska was not one of it favorites at the start of the first book Heaven’s Fall: Apocalypse. I found her so annoying back then, but not anymore! I’m trying to reread the whole series because it’s been a while and I wanna refresh my memories on all the events. Recent rereading, knowing where her and America’s relationship by the end of the most recent book, makes me understand her behavior a lot more.
Not only that but their father-daughter bond remind me of my own dynamic with my father. Granted he isn’t nearly as bad as America, but I get the feeling of having a father who wasn’t or isn’t always there for you and the thing with,,, bad habits like drinking and substances.
As always with every finished piece this is fan art for @drizzeltheraincat ‘s Heaven’s Fall series!
(I’m pushing these out like crazy, it’s cause school is out. I hope you like this one as well, drizzle, although it’s not as appealing as the others!)

Secret States Chapter 38
Anxious (Wattpad | Ao3)
Table of Contents | Prev | Next
Illinois and Washington hadn’t accompanied Alaska to visit Finland, as Alaska was worried that they would scare him off. So they watched from a distance as the two began to talk. Arctic Council joined them shortly after, and it looked like the talk was going well.
From what they could tell, anyway.
But the conversation didn’t seem to be very long, and soon Finland and Alaska separated, with Alaksa coming back to join them. He didn’t seem downtrodden, just…pensive.
“How did it go?” Washington asked.
“Good, I think,” Alaska said before turning to Arctic Council. “Is he normally closed off like that?”
“Yeah. He’s not the most talkative person. Prefers to stick to himself and what he knows, although I know some people see that as rude,” Arctic Council explained. Alaska nodded, shifting silently. A strange expression passed over Washington’s face, but he didn’t say anything, instead nodding toward Arctic Council.
“Thank you for your help,” Washington said. Arctic Council smiled.
“It was my pleasure,” she said, “but I should be going. I have things I need to get back to. Have a good day!”
With those parting words, Arctic Council vanished, prompting Washington to slowly turn to face Alaska.
“Are you sure it went well? You seem anxious,” Washington said gently, placing a gentle hand on Alaskas arm. Alaska nodded.
“It did. I’m just overthinking this,” Alaska said, a slight frown crossing his face. Illinois frowned. He wanted to comfort Alaska, but he also wanted to give his brother his space. Stepping forward, Illinois spoke.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
“Maybe. As we go home,” Alaska said as he started the walk back to their house, wings pulled tight to his back. Washington let his hand slide down Alaska’s arm until they were holding hands, walking side by side. Illinois put his wing over Alaska’s wings, lightly at first, but when Alaska didn’t shake off the comfort, Illinois let it rest on his brother’s back.
“Was it just not want you expected?” Illinois asked. Alaska shrugged.
“I don’t know what I expected. But…he didn’t seem keen on talking about…being under Russian Empire,” Alaska said. Illinois frowned. That didn’t seem too strange, based on how cagey Alaska was about remembering his time as a Russian colony.
“You don’t,” Washington said, “There’s a family resemblance.”
The joke didn’t land, as Alaska continued to stare forward, not even breaking into a smile.
“Alaska?” Illinois asked.
“I just…I want to know that it’s not all in my head, that I’m not…making up how he hurt me, or….I just…” Alaska trailed off, and Illinois gave him a small squeeze with his wing.
“You didn’t make anything up. I promise. He just needs time. You’ve had it, he hasn’t. And he doesn’t owe you a conversation about what was most likely a traumatic experience,” Illinois pointed out. Alaska sighed.
“I know, I know. I just…I get panicky,” Alaska said, his frown deepening. “This is all just me being stupid. He was nicer than USSR or anyone else I have met.”
Illinois let out a small laugh at that. Alaska had only properly met USSR and Russian Empire, which, of course, would give him the worst impression of his family. District of Columbia had met Moscow and Moscow Oblast, and while they weren’t friends, they were certainly polite and enjoyed talking badly about their respective countryhumans.
The normal ones seemed nice, but Alaska had been scared off from ever meeting them.
“Okay, one, you’re not being stupid,” Washington began. “You have anxiety, and you blame yourself when you think something has gone wrong. But you can’t take a first meeting as a sign that you can’t ever talk again, and you can’t let those thoughts win out. You’re an amazing guy, Alaska, and you aren’t a being stupid to worry, to want to have a positive relationship.”
“I don’t want to have anxiety,” Alaska whispered so softly that Illinois barely heard it.
“No one does. But that’s why you have us here to help you every step of the way and help control the more wild worst-case scenarios that your brain wants to trick you into thinking is real,” Illinois began.
“Yeah. Do you want to talk about them? You don’t have to, but it might help,” Washington offered.
“No, I don’t want to. Saying it aloud makes it feel more…real. I don’t like that. I’ll be okay. I know I surprised him, and then I asked a really loaded question. I…if we talk again, it will be better. I was just a little too direct,” Alaska said as if he were talking through his anxieties with himself. It seemed to work as Illinois felt the tension bleed out of his brother’s shoulders.
“Yeah, it will be better,” Washington said. Alaska smiled.
“Thanks, guys. I think…I expect the worst when it comes to people from…that side of the family tree. For obvious reasons,” Alaska said. Illinois nodded. Russian Empire had abused and manipulated Alaska and enslaved Aleut, Alaska’s mother, before trying to kill her when he realized she prevented him from having complete control over their son.
Then there was the USSR, with his own list of crimes, including pretending people like Alaska’s mom weren’t real personifications, committing genocides, and having his own obsession with controlling what he deemed as his.
Finland wasn’t like that, from what Illinois knew. But that didn’t stop the part of Alaska’s brain that expected that darkness.
“But you don’t think he’s like that?” Illinois asked, finally removing his wing from Alaska’s back. Alaska shrugged again.
“I can’t say for sure. I know we all have blood on our hands in one way or another…but…I think he’s different. He’s disowned Russian Empire, so that had to count for something,” Alaska said. Illinois smiled.
“I trust your judgment. You got a good head on your shoulders,” Washington said, “Do you think you’re going to meet him again?”
“I don’t know. Maybe I’ll let him decide next time.” Alaska said, smiling softly. Illinois threw an arm over his brother’s shoulders.
“That sounds good to me.”
