The Curse of the Phantom Pirate by I.J. Parhom is a weird little Western version of the Phantom story, featuring Fergal, a guy who has just bought and is trying to reopen an abandoned theater, only to be harassed by the resident theater ghost, who is also a pirate. Also there’s a cowboy extorting a salary? It sounds wild.
The Phantom Idol by Hijiki Isoflavone is a new manga series, and I’m honestly not 100% on its Phantom-relatedness, but I’m game to find out! Yuuya is a famous pop star but doesn’t like his career or feel that he’s very talented, an issue that becomes abruptly moot when the ghost of a dead singer decides to possess him and make him perform well anyway.
Phantom Masquerade by A.L. Hawke is a modern-day sequel to the Phantom story, which we haven’t seen the likes of in... well, a hot minute, at least in books! Mina (probably meant to evoke the character from Stoker’s Dracula) is a descendent of the original Christine and trying to make it in opera in Paris, and finally gets her big break in Harlequin, a show based on Don Giovanni, but is stressed out by the conflict between her frightening performances, her best friend and their rapidly becoming romantic relationship, and a ghost that keeps intruding into her efforts.
Phantoms is a Halloween short story compendion that features the story “Death at the Masquerade” by Alaine Greyson, which a peek suggests is likely Phantom-related. Even if it isn’t, it’s the time of year to enjoy a little spookiness!
Requiem by Emily Shore is the last book in her Phantom series, which started with Roseblood and Silhouette. It’s got vampires, it’s got amnesia, it’s got accidentally waking up in Germany. It’s got it all.
We also have two reissues!
Phantom of the Mall: Eric’s Revenge is one of the all-time terrible movie greats of the Phantom world, and if you were just dying to own it on Blu-Ray, now you can! I may have to buy it myself, since it has three different cuts of the movie on it and I have no idea which one I’ve seen or if other ones might make more (any) sense. Add a making-of documentary and a lot of behind-the-scenes material, and this is definitely worth it for a collector!
The Phantom of the Opera by J.R. Simons is an old 1990s play adaptation of the story, which is now available digitally! If you aren’t me and you don’t want to spend your life surrounded by boxes full of playscripts, this is exciting news.
That’s it for this month, so October - look alive, we’re going to be expecting fireworks for the Halloween Phantom season!

Leon S2 Finale...
Just finished Leon’s finale and it was like climbing a hill the entire time as the tension rose. The MC wanted him to tell the truth about his feelings the entire time, but Leon kept it to himself. I’m usually not one for the older LI tropes, but I’m really enjoying Leon’s story a lot. He just reminds me of Alain cause of the scars and his soft side for gardening and lavender flowers and the fact that he wants the best for the MC even if it means he has to leave.
The race was so fun to read and my favorite scene in this season was where the MC punched Greyson square in the face and the entire Poppy was like “OMG?!” lol...
Can we talk about how amazing the QoT MC is? Take a moment and appreciate her, I love her so much. She has such a strong personality and isn’t afraid to speak her mind.
AND THAT CLIFFHANGER...
I’m goina’ scream until the next season comes cause there’s so much potential for a great Leon story when the Poppy goes to Hong Kong. There’s so much of his past to explore, people and memories.

Morgan, Marie McGrath and Alaine Greyson are sure to get your heart pumping and take your imagination on a wild ride. Goodreads / Amazon — EXCERPT: Lucifer. The Devil? The night had taken a turn for the worse. Trudy glanced at the pill bottle. Forget the rest of today. This haunting of a witch, sorceress, and now the Devil was enough to end things. No one would ever believe her if she explained. “Whenever I see opportunity, I’m there. This is no different. Besides, I’m convinced this will be an easy sell.” Lucifer nodded toward Miranda. “Sending in the young ones to do an adult’s job? No worries. Just makes my sell easier.” Miranda balled her fists and pursed her lips. She stepped toward Lucifer, but Gretchen pushed her onto the couch. “It would help if you turned the lights back on, Luce. If you want a conversation, it helps if she can see you.” Without thinking, Trudy latched onto Miranda’s arm. The darkness was good enough. She didn’t want to know what the Devil looked like and confirm her childhood nightmares. Trudy squeezed her eyes shut as a loud clap reverberated around the room. Read the full article
