By • Olalekan Fagbade JUST IN; Kidnappers of NYSC members demand fresh N200million after collecting N13m ransom Kidnappers of eight Akwa Ibom State graduates, abducted in Zamfara State on their way to Sokoto State for the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Orientation Camp, have demanded an additional N200 million as ransom, after collecting N13 million earlier paid by the victims’ families. The victims, according to the Vanguard who were kidnapped on August 17, have spent 26 days in the kidnappers den. Meanwhile, frustrated families have resorted to fasting and prayers on the fate of their children. A brother to one of the victims told Vanguard on condition of anonymity, yesterday, that the abductors were also demanding N200 million additional ransom to release the seven corps members and the Akwa Ibom Transport Company, AKTC, bus driver being held captive. The source, said: “We don’t know how we are going to raise that kind of money. Everybody was shocked when two parents, who have been over there since the incident happened told us that after they released the balance N8 million (to make up N13 million ransom negotiated) they waited for long for the kidnappers to release our brothers and sisters, but they didn’t. “They said instead, the kidnappers contacted them to demand N200 million ransom. We have paid N13 million already. First, we paid N5 million, later N8 million to make up the N13 million. Some parents sold their lands, some even collected loan to raise the N13 million. “We have not received any help from government. We found it difficult to raise that N13 million. So, how are we going to raise this fresh ransom of N200 million? We have deliberately kept this development from my mother. I don’t think that poor widow will survive if she hears this. We are suffering and helpless.” Another relative close to one of the victims’ parents said the victims’ families were particularly worried after being told on Monday that the health conditions of their children were deteriorating as a result of the nature of the place they were being held captive. The woman who could not hide her anguish, lamented: “In fact all the parents and their family members have resorted to fasting and prayers. Our children in captivity told us to pray for them, that they are very weak. “As we speak, I just returned from church. We are believing in God to help us bring back our children. God will not fail us. The parents don’t have that kind of money those people are demanding. Where would they get that kind of money?” It will be recalled that last week, that after the first release of N5 million of the initially negotiated total ransom of N13 million by the families, the abductors gave them up till September 6 to pay the outstanding N8 million. When the helpless families could not meet the deadline, the captors extended the grace period to September 9, 2023 in response to pleas by parents of the victims asking for more days to enable them raise the outstanding N8 milion. Meanwhile, the failure of government and security agencies to rescue the victims after three weeks of their abduction continues to generate controversy in Akwa Ibom State. Some concerned persons in the state have taken to the social media and private radio stations, expressing their anger and disappointment over failure of Federal Government to protect lives and property of its citizens, in this case, the lives of the kidnapped corps members. When contacted for update on the Akwa Ibom State Police Command’s efforts in collaborating with the Zamfara State’s Command towards rescuing the victims, command’s spokesman, Odiko MacDon, responded: “I’m in a meeting,” and hung up before Vanguard reporter could explain further.

The Citadel was one of the most popular places in Cairo, but Cairo did have a good amount of sites around that had to do with governmental and religious structures. The Citadel was well known for the different types of museums they had to offer, the mosques for praying muslims, and forts. The Ayyubid City walls were built during the years of 1176 and 1183 AD by Saladin, and it’s main point of being built was to be the Citadel that was located on the site of Mukattam Hills. As you can tell in this photo that I have taken, the walls were built with big bricks, and it also contains two gates on both sides of it.
The northern gate being Bab Al-Futuh, and the southern gate being the Bab Zuweila. When Salah Al-Din had passed away in the year 1193, the empire was almost ruined until the rule of Al-Adil in 1199. So after looking into what had happened into the part of the wall, made me feel upset after seeing how nicely they were made when I first got to see them. The eastern part of the wall had soon met a decline in the construction, and it so happened to be during the time of crusades threat from other invaders. It had soon became a city dump for people, and it wasn’t pleasant being that it was all eventually covered in trash.
Over the years, the AKTC’s projects had expanded to be able to include a good amount of mosques, and monuments around the area.Today, the remains of the Ayyubid wall is bordered by Al-Azhar Park, which was the 500 year rubbish dump of Al-Darassa Hills. The archeological discovery of the Ayyubid wall was one of the most important things that had a relation to the Islamic period that took place in Egypt. (Iskander,pg.1)

Humayun’s Tomb The tomb of the second Mughal emperor, Humayun, one of the twenty-seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India, was the first of the monumental mausoleums to be built in the country. The chahar-bagh, or four-part paradise garden, is the earliest existing example of the Mughal garden tomb. The Tomb and Garden are considered one of the precursors of the Taj Mahal. The restoration of the Garden was the first privately funded restoration of a World Heritage Site in India and was completed in March 2003 through the joint efforts of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) and the Archaeological Survey of India under the aegis of the National Culture Fund. The objective of the project was to revitalize the gardens, pathways, fountains and water channels of the chaharbagh surrounding Humayun’s Tomb according to the original plans of the builders. The Garden is laid out in a classical chahar-bagh pattern. It is divided Into quarters by raised causeways. The quadrants are divided, in turn, into eight plots, each with walkways. At the intersection of these walkways are octagonal or rectangular pools. Site works encompassed a variety of disciplines, including archaeological excavation, the application of conservation science and hydraulic engineering. Following the restoration of the Garden, visitor numbers increased tenfold. Building on the success of this project, in 2007 AKTC signed a ‘Public-Private Partnership Agreement’ to undertake the restoration of Humayun’s Tomb complex. Emperor Humayun was the son of Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire. His tomb was built over nearly a decade beginning in about 1565. Influenced by Persian architecture, the Tomb stands on a 120-square-metre platform and reaches a height of forty-seven metres. Built of rubble masonry, the structure is the earliest example of the use of red sandstone and white marble in such great quantities. #archipedia #indianarchitecture #mughalarchitecture #architecture #architettura #architectural #architecs #architecturestudent #architecturemodel #handrender #art #modelmaking #maquette #creative #sketching #delhi #contemporaryart #conceptart #contemporaryart #artistic #archilovers #arquitec (at Humayun's Tomb) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6Vtf-apead/?igshid=lanigbmtxevp

By • Olalekan Fagbade Armed Bandits demand N4 million ransom to release  abducted (8)eight NYSC members     Gunmen suspected to be bandits who abducted over eight National Youth Service Corps, NYSC members have demanded the sum of four million Naira as ransom to secure their freedom. The terrorists were reported to have kidnapped the eight Corps members along a highway within Zamfara State last Friday. The young people were said to be travelling with an Akwa Ibom Transport Company, AKTC bus from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital to Sokoto State, to take part in the mandatory National Service when the bandits attacked their vehicle and abducted them. The father of one of the kidnapped victims, Emmanuel Eket said through a telephone interview that his daughter, Glory Thomas had been giving them updates on the latest development in the bandits’ camps. He said the bandits phoned with her number to inform him about the abduction of his daughter and asked him to pay N4 million ransom for the release of his daughter. “They called me with her number, demanding the sum of N4 million. They allowed me to speak with my daughter because I asked how they wanted us to pay and my daughter said we should contact the AKTC,” the man added. “Since that time, they have not called and I have not spoken with my daughter. I don’t know if they have released them but my daughter has not called me.” DAILY POST reported that the Zamfara State Police Command has remained silent over the abduction. However, a military source who preferred anonymity confirmed the kidnap, pointing out that a rescue team was currently combing the forest to rescue the victims unhurt. #8abductednyscmembers #armedbandits #ransom

Urban River Spaces in Jhenaidah in Bangladesh
The community-driven project provides public spaces in the riverine city with 250,000 residents; over time, access to and use of the river and banks had become impeded.
To date, the project comprises two ghats – steps leading down to platforms at the river, with adjacent walkways – and the opening of obstructed pedestrian pathways leading to them.
The ghat was built with brick and concrete by local masons. It was designed with respect for the local topography:
Locally available materials such as brick and concrete were used in the simple, contextual designs, all built by local builders and masons; the site-specific projects retain all existing trees and vegetation.
The architects surveyed and documented all the trees in the city in order to propose ecologically significant vegetation and enhance the area’s biodiversity. All the existing trees on-site were preserved:
Future phases focus on public use of the river area with walkways, gardens, cultural facilities and environmental efforts to increase biodiversity in the river.
The ghat has become a popular place for the local people to exercise, enjoy an evening stroll, meet with friends or simply sit by the river:

Coaster Bus Mechanic Needed at Akwa Ibom Transport Company Limited 2021
Coaster Bus Mechanic Needed at Akwa Ibom Transport Company Limited 2021
AKTC Limited (Akwa Ibom Transport Company), one of the leading transport companies in Akwa-Ibom , was a state-owned transport company until Nsik Motors took over in 2005. Prior to that, Nsik Motors entered into an agreement with the former managers of AKTC to run the Uyo-Port Harcourt route exclusively. At this point, AKTC Limited already had operational set-backs and very low business turn-over.…
