Mahoutsukai Sally - Episodes 87 & 88

I finished 80′s Sally just now and I gotta say that I’m really glad they decided to focus on Sally’s relationship with Sumire & Yoshiko for the finale. It really brings home that the whole reason Sally put up with everything that she did was just so she could be with her human friends. 

While not the first magical girl show to really focus in on girl friendships as a core theme, I think it’s one of the only shows in the 80′s that has it. Momo, the Pierrot MGs and the few others had friends that were girls but their relationships with male characters usually had more weight in the story and I think that’s really important to note as this show takes us into more “girl power” trends of the 90s.
