What makes you so sad? I think you're the saddest girl I ever met || Akemi and Helen
Surprise! There's a part 2 for Akemi and Helen @nutaella-kookie’s oc!! The quote I used as the title is from this scene. Also what is it with Helen meeting dangerous vampires in school bathrooms-?
I tried to put some song lyrics in my works because Akemi is part of the theatre club.… I hope it’s not too bad? It’s called “Noel’s Lament”
Fun fact: Fata Naiva means silly girl in Romanian. At least that’s what I searched and double checked.
Warnings: Helen’s canon ed, Akemi’s past that includes attempted r*pe, murder, and violence.
Helen knew what some people think of her. Her reputation was never known to be the best and it didn't help that her list of ex-boyfriends added more fuel to the already nasty rumors that spread across Ryoutei Academy.
Amongst the rumors about her, Helen would also hear about another girl, Akemi Sakamaki. They called her cold, unapproachable, a frigid bitch if they felt extra spiteful, it was never consistent. Shu said that she was one of his cousins when he came over last time. She still remembers that day well, the afternoon sun shone through the windows and the chill of winter seeped into her bones.
“I didn't even know that she existed.” Shu sighed as he continued to slide the razor against his cheek. “She just appeared by the doorstep of the manor and she never left ever since,” he added while rinsing off the shaving cream on the razor. Curious, Helen decided to probe the blonde vampire a bit more while combing her hair back, black curls falling off her shoulder. “How does she look like? Is she pretty?”
Water ran down the cold steel blade and Shu grabbed a random towel to wipe off the remaining cream on his blade. “She can carry a note, unlike you”
“Oh come on! Aren't your brothers more... bothersome? Surely your cousins are different in some way.” Helen continued to ask, a sigh leaves Shu’s lips, and the expression on his face remains indiscernible. “Go and see her for yourself. Or ask her classmates.”
Yet not once did Helen see Akemi closely, her face was almost always hidden or seen from afar. Her blonde hair was always indicating where she was but always disappearing somewhere else. Other than the horrid rumor of sleeping with numerous people, Helen has always heard about another title that Akemi has. “The Enigma of the Theatre Club” as people questioned why they never seemed to spot her on stage performing, even if her name is posted with the other cast on the bulletin board. Seemingly hiding in plain sight.
Students would say that when the theatre’s club room was empty… you would hear someone singing.
Oh, Claude, my pimp, knows never mess with me
Last prick did that faded quick to black
I have no idea where to find him, officers
But if you do, please mention that I'd
Like to have returned the pretty knife
That I stuck. Ten. Times. In. His. Back.
Sometimes, Helen would hear the singing as she passed through the theatre club, the club members’ voices were always loud and clear and could be heard through the stage, especially who Helen could assume to be Akemi’s, is it really? The soft and clear voice seems to ring in Helen’s ears.
He said, "I think I am in love with you"
I've heard that lie a million times before
Oh, tonight I give in to the fantasy
Take love when you can, when you're a whore
It was an ugly process, eating so much food you feel sick and then erasing it with the pull of a toilet’s lever. Watching your weight rise in numbers force those same numbers to drop, and Helen would repeat the cycle all over again.
Coughing, Helen reached out for the lever to flush the evidence away, leaning her back against the bathroom stall as her throat burned. Tiredly, Helen forced herself to stand up and pull her hair tie off, fanning her black curls out but still not wanting others to look at her right now. Not when she feels like nothing.
The door to the girl’s restroom opened before Helen could even leave the bathroom stall. Groaning quietly, Helen sunk to her back against the toilet seat, trying to listen to the pair of girls chattering away to find a chance to get out without being noticed.
“Ugh, I didn’t get the part to play Christine for Phantom of the Opera. I wasn’t even listed for understudy, can you believe that?” A girl cried out, stomping on her school shoes. “Yuki, I heard Akemi-senpai got the role.” Another girl added bitterly.
“Right? Like, who does she think she is? She's not even that good, she’s always a side character and then the club president just decided to make her of all people the star?” Yuki snapped, the clinking of makeup products echoed with quick snaps, reflecting her frustration.
“She probably slept her way up, how else would she get the part?” The other girl accused haughtily. Helen felt a headache forming in her temple.
“Honestly… hey, did you know that Subaru chased Akemi-senpai down the library? Do you think there's something between them?” The girls giggled, feeling proud of themselves as if they’d unlocked a mystery.
“For real, they’ve always been so close to one another it’s insane. I bet those two-”
“I bet they what? Do you mind if I listen?”
A girl’s voice echoed in the bathroom door, Helen could herself jolting in shock as the girls immediately stopped talking and Helen could only hear the long strides the girl took toward them from the bathroom stall she was in. The girl’s voice was sweet and soft, it sounded comforting like it was made to rock you to sleep. Yet that voice still sent shivers down Helen’s spine.
“Come on, you're making me curious.” The girl giggled, Helen winched at the sugary tone, immediately hearing the malice creeping up from the girl’s tone. “So let's recap, shall we, girls? In the library... Subaru and I did what?”
The silence was all-consuming and you could hear a pin drop. Helen’s heart was racing in her chest as she awaited whatever answer the girls would make. They better not say anything stupid.
Stammering, one of the girls finally spoke up. “I’m… I’m sorry, we need to go.” Helen could hear the girls scramble for their bags only to listen to them yelp like injured dogs as they stumbled on their own feet. “Oh no no no, why won’t you tell me? You can say it when you think I’m not around but you won’t tell me upfront?” Akemi chided mockingly, and the venom in her voice slowly grew more apparent.
Whimpering, the girls immediately made a break for the exit. “Talking behind my back won't get you the part for our play, you know?” the girl called out as the pair ran out of the bathroom, their tails between their legs.
Letting out a sigh, Akemi continued to talk to the air, her voice dropping to an octave. “After all... You would be stuck with me for the rest of the semester.” Helen slowly opened the bathroom stall’s door to peek, only to find blonde hair swish by heading towards the exit. Silence filled the girl’s restroom. She could hear her heart beating out of her chest.
Helen held her breath as she carefully opened the bathroom stall, hoping to leave and praying that she was alone in the bathroom. She had already heard too much, she rather goes back to her classroom and continue studying for another English Literature exam instead of dealing with whatever drama is brewing in that theatre club.
No, no, absolutely no-
“I know you heard them, Fata naiva.” Helen almost choked back a scream when she looked up only to find Akemi Sakamaki, sitting down on the bathroom countertop, dangling her long stocking-clad legs back and forth, childlike and almost innocent looking. Helen would have believed that if it weren't for...
“Yeah... so you have to deal with that too?” Helen replied carefully, watching the vampire in front of her in case she ever got close to her.
Akemi quietly hopped off the countertop, still poised and graceful in her stance, not getting too close to Helen. “You mean being too pretty for my own good? Yes, unfortunately… Did it get any better for you? Your name tends to float around, Helen is it?” Helen only gave Akemi a shrug, acting nonchalant. “The reputation is hard to rub off.”
“I guess so? I remember that the president told me about a girl who played Giselle from Swan Lake. Wasn't that you?” Helen looked over at the memory, recalling how unmoved the audience was but still applauded nevertheless. I didn't even get to sing, which is good I guess. Akemi let out a small chuckle escape her lips, amused at Helen’s reaction.
Helen rolled her eyes, trying to brush it off, the tension in her slowly dwindling away. “ Yeah... Not a fond moment I like to dwell on... So you’re in the theatre club?”
Akemi gave a little twirl, holding poise in her movements as her feet glided against the tiled floor. “Only one of the best actors in the club. Pleased to meet you.”
“I saw some of the plays, well it was required, but I never really saw you?” Helen asked, her eyebrows quirked up in confusion.
Smiling, Akemi placed a finger to her lips. “It’s easier to stand out on stage, that’s true. However it’s more impressive to blend in, but that’s just my opinion.” Helen could only shrug, knowing she can never conjure intense emotions for any performance without feeling stupid.
“Oh, I probably need to go to my next class, see you, I guess?” Spinning on her heels, Helen made a break to the only exit.
“Wait... Take this.” Confused, Helen turned around to find the girl reaching out for her hand and placing a paper-wrapped pastry in her hand. Chocolatine? “Thank you... I'm full actually.” Helen lied, she could still feel the imaginary bile in her throat, its sour aftertaste lingers on her tongue.
Akemi cock her head to the side, and her eyes met Helen’s. “Aren't you a dancer as well? Ballet, correct? It's in your posture.” Helen’s looked over to find Akemi with a worried expression on her face. “It wouldn't exactly be pleasant if you collapsed during rehearsals. It happens too often while we rehearse for our plays,’ more specifically with the girls.” Akemi added, still holding on to the chocolatine.
Reluctantly, Helen took the pastry out of Akemi’s hands. “Is knowing when someone is hungry a power of yours?” Helen questioned, taken aback at the sudden warmth of the pastry, and started tossing it back and forth between her hands.
Akemi only scrunched up her nose, for a moment she looked cold and haughty, minus the malice that comes with it. “Honey, I know what puke smells like. You should be taking care of yourself, missy.”
Helen let out a laugh, surprised at the fact someone was calling her ‘missy’. It sounded silly, even if the girl before her is centuries older than her. Yet what sounded silly sounded… familiar, the chuckle slowly died in Helen’s throat as she finally took a good look at Akemi, her soft features, doe eyes, and rosy cheeks.
Yet her face was overlapping with another, that girl she met at the club, Aurelia...
It can't be... can it? Same smile, different hair... I didn't even see her eyes. Even after the many nights we drank together, she wouldn’t look me in the eye.
Before Helen could hold her tongue, she spoke out. “You look familiar.” Akemi’s eyes widened slightly, taken aback by the statement, yet there is no hostility like what Helen expected, but curiosity. Relief, even?
“What makes you say that?” Akemi asked, her eyes softened. She looked gentle and assuring.
Helen hesitated. Should I really ask her… she won’t react badly… would she? Not like him…
Mustering up the courage, Helen decided to force herself to talk.
“Is that you, Aure-“
Before Helen could finish, the bell rang. Students rushed to their classrooms and their chatter filled the hallways. Akemi took her phone out to look at the time.
“I guess we should go to class?” Akemi questioned. Thinking to herself, Helen decided to take it as a way to escape, an option to avoid further conflict and hurt.
“Yeah, I guess I’ll see you? Thanks for the pastry.” Akemi only smiled, waving Helen goodbye as she watched the human’s silhouette disappear down the stairs.
Alone in the girl’s restroom, Akemi leaned back against the sink and guilt started to clog her throat. Akemi can’t find the urge to look at herself in the mirror, for all she would have seen would be the many faces she imitated all her life.
Angry and tired, Akemi felt the sudden burst of intense heat from the flames that she ignited on one side of her face. She curses to herself as the blue hue shone and flickered. Akemi recalled how it never left a mark on her skin no matter how hard she tried, always unscathed while everything burns around her.
She remembers the screams, the smell of smoke, cheap perfume, and the burnt flesh of the prostitutes who took care of her, and the men who tried to devour her filled her nostrils. Akemi’s let out a stuttered gasp for air, reminiscing over the painful memories.
Memories kept hidden came rushing back like a flood.
‘Monster’ Irina cried out in grief, Akemi knew she can’t comfort her… how can she? She killed her fiancé in the fire… pretended to be him, and lied to her, the soot dripping down from her hair, blurring her vision to black.
Oh how Akemi wanted to shake Irina then and there, scream at her.
You’re precious fiancé and his father tried to touch me while you waited for him. What does that make him?! TELL ME
Looking back at the mirror, Akemi only let out a sigh. She felt the urge to break it. Rip everything in front of her, but the urge left quickly. Even as Akemi stepped out of the girl’s restroom, the turmoil still boiled within her.
Oh Aurelia Eros, such a beautiful and cruel monster you are. Whenever will you stop hiding?

Nothing but sweet lies today, or is it? || Subaru and Akemi (Valentines Special💕)
A/N: Hello! Happy Valentines y'all!! I haven't been writing AkeSuba a lot but I swear I have a lot in store! Stay tuned!!
“Oh my, Relio-chan. You have quite the haul this year.” Laito exclaimed, his hand on his lips as Akemi stared at the never-ending pile of gifts on her desk, wincing at the sights of reds, pinks, and whites clustered into a monstrous Valentine’s surprise.
Sighing, Akemi picked up the boxes of chocolates placed right in the center of her seat. “I guess there are just some people who don’t like to take a hint, I’m sure you would know about that.” Laito only let out a small chuckle, taking one of a few boxes of sweets on Akemi’s desk, a small clear box of macarons wrapped in a ruby red bow.
“Well then, you don’t mind if I take this? Thank you for your lovely Valentine’s gift to me, Relio-chan.” Akemi only rolled her eyes, swatting Laito away as if he were a mere fly buzzing in her ear as he made his way to his seat, chatting away with the girls surrounding his seat. “Here, let me help you, Akemi.” Asa insisted, her hands swiftly arranging the bouquets of flowers of different kinds. Lilies, daisies, most of them are roses. All of them paled in comparison to the roses in the manor. ‘Maybe I could cut some of them? Place them in my books and preserve the best ones. My bedroom would just smell like flowers and nothing but flowers.’ Akemi thought to herself, wondering if she would want her room to smell like rotting flowers in the first place.
Akemi let out a tired sigh, quiet enough that the students didn’t hear, loud enough that her older sister could hear... “Thank you so much… there’s always too much of them.” Akemi mumbled out, her voice low as a whisper. The last thing she wants right now is to be called ungrateful by her peers for not accepting gifts she never asked for.
What’s wrong with you? They put so much effort into you. They have such poor taste if they like someone as inconsiderate as you, blah blah blah…
‘Well, none of them know what I want because they don’t put the effort into knowing me, so screw you.’
Asa noticed the blank look in Akemi’s eyes, lost in her thoughts. “Hey, look at me, it’s all right. You don’t need to accept all of them, just take whatever you want.” Asa assured, rubbing Akemi’s back in small circles with her finger. “Hmm, there might be something for Amaya here… it’s funny that they mixed up our tastes in sweets.”
‘It’s funnier that they don’t know I have a sweet tooth. Amaya is the one that likes that 100% cacao dark chocolate. She pretty much likes everything.’
Asa let out a small laugh. “We would have enough chocolate to satisfy Kanato at least a month. No, I think it won’t last a week.” Akemi smiled, a certain gift seemed to catch her eye amidst the pile of valentines. She wanted to laugh, the gift was so over the top that it took her back to old memories.
The gift was a cylinder-shaped box, it’s pale green exterior helped it stand out from the bright reds and is carefully wrapped in a baby pink bow. With her eyebrow raised in amusement, Akemi marveled at the pulled at the soft ribbon, opening the box’s cover to feel a bottle wrapped in silk. Akemi looked at the card to find a name embossed on the paper, it was a boy in Shu’s class, like many others, he is from a rich family, and other than that, there is almost nothing special between him and many boys before him.
‘Well, someone went all out for me.’ Akemi mused while unwrapping the silk to reveal a pretty pink bottle adorned with pom pom to match. ‘Sweet like candy? So expensive.’ Curious at the intricate surprise, Akemi spritzed some of the perfume to her wrist and neck and took a whiff. She winces at the strong scent emanating from her wrist and put the bottle away.
‘Such a girlish and sugary fragrance… definitely not my type.’
One gift after the other, Akemi’s face remained passive, no disgust clouding her features, no gushing over stuffed animals adorned in hearts and stitched together with pink and red fabrics. The pile of gifts never seemed to end, always finding a rose, a letter, or a box of chocolates added to the pile or given during class as a proclamation of love, forcing her to accept it politely while the teacher attempts to settle the class down. Each present screaming desperation with its gaudy decorations in hopes to be her taste.
What everyone considers as a holiday to celebrate love felt nothing but a sham in Akemi’s eyes. The constant back and forth of gifts and expecting your feelings to be reciprocated. Mountains and mountains of expectations and hopes of reciprocated feelings that teenager mistake for love fall heavy on the vampire’s shoulders. Even when she simply wants to return to the limousine, Akemi still smells a human lurking by.
“Akemi-senpai, um… I like you, please accept this.”
Batting her eyes, Akemi took the letter and a box of chocolates from the young man’s hands, avoiding his touch. “Oh, you’re too kind.” She thanked him, cupping her hand to her cheek, acting like the blushing maiden that people have envisioned her to be. Blushing with pride, the young man bid her goodbye as she made her way to the limousine, not even sparing a glance at him or a lingering gaze. Reiji looks up from his book to glare at the easy stride of his cousin as sits down and plops the gift on her lap with almost no care in the world or for the heartfelt present.
“Don’t look at me like that, I’m not up to any swindling with any of those bastards.” Akemi assured, rolling her eyes at Reiji’s disapproval.
Footsteps grew louder as it made its way to the limousine, a flash of raven hair peeks from the limousine’s door, hiding dark blue eyes. “Akemi! I got a lot of chocolate pocky today!” Amaya exclaimed in delight, hoisting several paper bags into the air, Akemi could not help but to chuckle the sight. “Congrats, Amaya, we can have lots of sweets that can lasts us a month or so.” Akemi laughed as her younger sister wraps her arms around her pale slender neck, nuzzling it and inhaling the new sweet scent that surrounds her.
“Ehhh? Did you get to have perfume as a gift from one of the guys for Valentine’s? I’m jealous.” Amaya feigned a pout, her eyes drifting to the box that lay at Akemi’s feet alongside other flowers and chocolates. “You can have it if you like, it would be a pity if we threw it away,” Akemi recommended, picking up the cylinder box. “Really? You sure?” Akemi gave a small nod at Amaya as she was opening the last box of chocolates she got from the boy near the limousine. The chocolates looked handmade and molded into small hearts and wrapped individually in origami paper.
Before Akemi could eat the chocolate, she frowned and brought one of the chocolates to her nose and took a whiff. Her fingers made haste as she unwrapped the chocolates one by one, placing them back into their place once she laid them bare.
“Have you finally gone stupid? Do eat that chocolate already.” Reiji snapped at Akemi, who was paying no mind to him, finally pulling the chocolate apart with her fingers. “Seriously? This again? What did she do this time? Did Akemi breathe too hard for your liking?” Amaya protested as Akemi breaks the chocolate open, revealing a razor blade, the ones you could find in a store to cut paper with precision.
Whilst Reiji watches Akemi with a calculating gaze, her expression remained impassive at the discovery.
‘How sweet of him, and what a waste of good chocolate. Well… he was too young for me anyway.’ Akemi pondered, raising the razor blade to the limousine’s light, a dull light emitting from the steel between her fingers. Amaya looks in horror and confusion.
“Wait… how did you know he would…” Amaya asked, her words trailing into silence at the sight. “It’s called being careful, nothing much.” Akemi shrugged as she threw the chocolate out of the window, not caring if it hit anyone. Amaya tries to reach her hand out to her elder sister but hesitates as she watches Akemi press her face against the glass, her eyes stare into nothing as the rest of the Sakamaki brothers made their way into the limousine, blissfully unaware of Akemi’s state.
It wasn’t until the limousine finally stopped at the manor did Amaya reach out to Akemi one more time. “Hey… are you ok?” Amaya questioned, carefully probing her older sister. Disturbing gifts weren’t anything new to the Sakamakis, everyone gets them at least once every year. One of the things Amaya knew was that Akemi’s reactions were vastly different from Ayato’s exclaims and Kanato’s complaints.
It was still strange to see her older sister put on an impassive face in the face of every girl’s nightmare.
Sapphire blue eyes stare back at Amaya’s. “Yeah, I’m fine. I might go somewhere else to calm down. I’ll see you at dinner?” Amaya’s brows furrowed, “Yeah… okay. Take care. Thanks for the perfume.” Akemi gave her younger sister a smile, it didn’t reach her eyes. “Don’t worry, I’ll give you some of the sweets, we can eat them for dessert after.” Amaya wanted to protest, and she genuinely did, but deep down she knew Akemi needed time for herself and she and Asa would be like a lighthouse that will guide her back.
“Another stash? There’s more than last year.” Subaru asked, looking over letters and flowers strewn on his bedroom floor. Akemi looks up from the letter in her hand, giving him a strained smile. “Yeah… people have been… well, very determined. I almost feel like a princess.” Akemi replied as she rolled her eyes, folding the letter, and putting it back in its envelope, still tired after eating dessert with Amaya.
“Oi, let me see that.” Subaru urged, taking the letter from Akemi’s fingers, and reading its contents. His brows furrowed in concentration as he read every word, every sentence professing undying love and infatuation for the older vampire. “Tch, you still get this kind of shit?” Subaru sneered at the letter. “Well, there are no creepy letters so far, so I'm feeling quite lucky if you ask me.” Akemi sighed, “I might jinx it, who knows?”
Taking the letter from Subaru’s hands, Akemi tossed it into the pile at her right, already picking another pink envelope or was it red? It didn't matter in the end whether it was carefully written in calligraphy or stuffed with drugstore candies and spirited with sweet cheap perfume. Akemi would still burn them, it's good for the fireplace.
Akemi couldn't recall how long it took for her to finish reading every letter. She always spent hours of silence whenever she was with Subaru, making her lose track of time. Curious, Akemi looked over at Subaru, slowly dozing off in his coffin, the lid was tossed to the side. She leaned her face closer to look at the younger vampire in front of her, her lips inches away from his forehead.
It felt so intimate. Lounging in Subaru’s room with no one in sight and no one to watch them.
Looking over her shoulder, Akemi watched Subaru’s sleeping form, the lid was pushed aside, showing the younger’s face, he was no longer scowling and looked peaceful. Her hand trailed lower to Subaru’s face, fingers slowly parting his lips. Akemi leaned in closer, and in an instant, her gaze is met with his ruby eyes. It matched perfectly with the flush that bloomed on his cheeks as he discovers the small gap between them.
“You idiot! What are you doing a mmph?!” Before Subaru could finish, Akemi placed a chocolate into his mouth, thrusting her finger inside.
“Why? It wasn’t like I was going to feed you mouth to mouth.” Akemi replied calmly, crawling into his coffin to lie next to Subaru as he watches on with shock in his eyes…
Subaru sits back up, hiding his face from Akemi’s view. “Tch, be serious. Don’t do that to other people, they’ll get the wrong idea.”
“They all disappoint me; it doesn’t matter what I do. They’ll find reasons to hate me.” Akemi huffed, swiping her pink tongue across her lips, the lip balm she wore was already long gone and smudges of chocolate still stuck to the corner of her mouth.
Carefully, Subaru’s hand drifted to Akemi’s face, watching her sure expression contort into confusion as she tilts her head to the side. A pale thumb lingered over her face before it wiped away the chocolate at the corner of her lips. “Tch, since when were you this messy when eating?” Subaru scoffed, still looking out for a way to tease Akemi back for what she did.
In the many decades they spent together, Subaru would have thought he knew Akemi well, at least that was what he hoped for, yet she always catches him off-guard. Akemi’s eyes drifted up to the younger’s face, her confusion melting away into tenderness as she clasped her fingers around Subaru’s hand. Subaru could never describe what he felt at that moment. He was far from a poet, always stumbling on his words and letting his fists talk.
Yet, Akemi can say so much with her eyes alone. Looking at him with so much warmth, only seeing him and him alone.
“Subaru… won’t you take me to the cafe tomorrow?” In an instant, she takes him off guard once more.
“Hah? You already have so many chocolates!” Subaru protested, Akemi pouted and slides her arms around his neck, hovering over the younger vampire’s frame. Subaru could feel the heat radiating from her body alone.
“Pretty please? Most of them have razor blades inside. You just need to accompany me, I’ll pay for our food, my treat.” Akemi promised.
The younger vampire let out a groan, running his hand through his white hair, still trying his face. “... Fine.” He conceded, watching Akemi break into another smile. “You’re so good to me, did you know that.” Akemi mused.
The younger sighs, wrapping his arm around her.” You’ll be the death of me.” Subaru muttered, pressing his lips against Akemi’s forehead.

Subaru and Akemi’s dynamic: My only one, when I see you, I want to lean on you.
•Subaru was the first brother she confided in when she started living in the Sakamaki Manor. It was hard for her since Asa and Amaya were still far away and Karlheinz had a difficult time finding them.
•Let’s start at the beginning. After Karlheinz took Aurelia (Akemi's real name) from France, he gave her a book with Japanese names in it. He said to pick one and that she will have to use his last name as an alias. She picked Akemi which meant "beauty of daybreak" because it reminded her of Alice (Asa's real name) because Alice's nickname was Cici which meant "born at daybreak."
•Then after picking a name and telling Akemi to dress up in more decent clothes, Karlheinz plopped Akemi by the Sakamaki Manor's doorstep and gave her a letter that she needs to give to Shu, informing him about her arrival.
•Shu and Reiji were obviously shocked by Akemi's appearance and the fact that they have cousins. Like Vincent and Felicia ran away and cut ties with Beatrix, Beatrix never mentioned her family much. The pair were quite lost on what to feel about Akemi.
•So, Akemi was scared and kept on waiting for Asa and Amaya… Karlheinz took 5 years to find Asa because she was train hopping and running from the police for being a medium. Amaya was part of the traveling circus, and she was harder to find because the Great Depression happened, and it hurt the circus financially, which also caused Amaya to run about.
•Out of fear, Akemi just locked herself up in her bedroom and Reiji had to coax her to come out and eat her food.
•Akemi spent her first few days pacing around her room and looking out of her balcony which faced the rose garden. Then weeks passed since she left the Moulin Rouge, and Akemi recalled how girls that found out the ‘good news’ were ecstatic and wished her luck… when she felt like a caged bird.
•The smell of the roses always comforted her, even by a little bit. Out of curiosity, Akemi decided to go to the rose garden. It was a quieter night in the Sakamaki manor when Akemi decided to stroll around the gardens. The breeze brushed against her hair, and she bundled up in her night jacket when she bumped into Subaru.
•Of course, in Subaru fashion, he snapped at Akemi and told her not to get close to him which made her flinch back from the sudden shouts coming from the ill-tempered Sakamaki, but Akemi was surprised that he still took her back to her room when he found out she still can’t find her way around the manor.
•Akemi grew more curious about the youngest and wanted to know him better. From the balcony, Akemi would try to wave at Subaru, trying to be more acquainted with him. The reason why she didn’t try to approach the other brother was that she was creeped out by the triplets, Shu and Reiji kept their distance away from her, so there was almost no one else to talk to.
•One day, Subaru was slightly more pissed than usual, and Akemi didn’t say anything and just sat there, letting his anger fade. When she decided to speak to him, the rest was history.
•For days, they spent hours lounging in the rose garden, not talking much but they never really left each other’s side. Sometimes, Subaru stayed in the music room with Akemi and listened to her re-learn playing the piano again. For the most part, Subaru was quite protective towards Akemi even if she insisted that she can handle herself.
•Subaru thought that Akemi would stop talking to him when she reunited with her sisters and started talking to his other brothers more than usual. Leaving him alone again. To his surprise, Akemi still wanted to spend time with him and spent her time with him, growing more comfortable with Subaru now that she has her sisters with her again.
“Aren’t you supposed to go back to your sisters by now?”
“And leave you here? I don’t hate being with you, you know?”
•Now in the modern day, there would be times when Akemi would ask Subaru if he wanted to get out of the mansion temporarily, mostly to escape any shenanigans ensuing in the manor. Usually, The pair would go to a bakery or café to sit down and eat. Subaru would occasionally joke that Akemi’s sweet tooth is almost as bad as Kanato’s while Akemi would let him eat some of the sweets she bought. (it’s not bad as Kanato’s)
•They would talk while Subaru is getting patched up by Akemi after a fight with one of the boys in school, Akemi would scold him while Subaru would ask her to stop letting the students in the school spread rumors about her. Akemi would dismiss it, saying that people will talk no matter what she does and that it could have been worse.
•The students at school even noticed that Akemi would subconsciously lean against Subaru’s shoulder or how Subaru would try to fix her hair and his fingers lingered on the strands of hair.
•Nothing much was going on behind the scenes until Subaru and Akemi fought for the first time. Akemi initially avoided talking to Subaru until he finally cornered her in the secluded part of the library in Ryoutei, demanding that she would talk to him and stop avoiding him.
•Subaru accidentally slammed his hands on the bookshelves too hard while they argued that books came crashing down. With little time to react, Subaru just grabbed Akemi into his arms and let the books fall on his back, shielding her and preventing her from getting hurt.
•Next thing Subaru remember was that his lips were brushing against Akemi’s lips… it was an accident, he knew it was just an accident, yet Subaru kept on denying the fact that he liked the idea of kissing her and that maybe, just maybe he would stop denying the fact he slowly grew romantic feelings for Akemi over the decades.
