If you could rewrite SDRA2, what would you change about it? Assuming you keep most of the core concepts? Also how would your rewrite work in ASOOT?

//I'm not gonna go into how it would affect ASooT, but I'll give you 10 ideas for how I'd improve SDRA2:

If you're going to have Mikado revealed from the start, don't make the Voids take backstage to his antics. Hajime's reveal was pretty good, but I feel like we need a bit more discussion and foreshadowing in regard to the roles and identities of the Voids throughout the story. Add more intrigue outside of the FTEs with everyone and make it really seem like anyone could be a member.

More foreshadowing for the reveals throughout the game, from them being in a virtual world to the Voids' backstories to the reason why everyone's here. All of it being shoved into Chapter 6 made the whole thing bloated and convoluted.

If you really want to have your big-tiddy serial killer waifu, the least you can do is give her an actual purpose in the story. I like what Mod Poi suggested, where she actually captures and interrogates someone- maybe Nikei- and figures out that he's a Void. Setsuka's death in this chapter would then be even more impactful, since they were working together, and have a major role in his decision to abandon Void altogether.

Hibiki lives. She was screwed harder than anyone in this game and I will forever stand by that as fact. This way, she can play out an actual arc and get the chance to grow as a person, maybe even becoming a major influence on the survivors.

Don't reveal Iroha as a Void until Chapter 5. The only reason she was revealed halfway through feels like it was just for more antics, and instead you can have continuous uncertainty in the group but them choosing to work together anyway, maybe to honor Shinji and Setsuka's memory by following their goal of trying to turn the Voids to their side.

Give Iroha an actual goddamn arc, and maybe make Hitaru, Jiro and Akemi canon : P

Give the Voids some actual focus outside of just their status as antagonists. I hate LINUJ's view that they were doomed no matter what they did, but if you wanted to go the tragic route, at least give them some character focus for more pathos.

Tone it the fuck down when it comes to the grimdark. None of it adds to the story.

Make Teruya more of a focus, rather than just having him there for the sake of having him, and don't have him snap for the sake of including another kraaaaaazy character moment.

Let the characters actually grow and change.

Waifu Wars #4: Homura Akemi from PMMM vs. Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop

hello hello time for an unexpected matchup <3 

Character #1: Homura Akemi from Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Synopsis of the show she’s in: The story follows a group of middle school girls, led by protagonist Madoka Kaname, who make supernatural contracts to become magical girls (mahō shōjo). In battling surreal enemies known as "witches", they learn of the anguish and peril associated with their new roles.

Character Design:

Homura Akemi is a young girl with long hair and a usually serious expression. Look at her. An absolute ICON plus of course the backstory episode where you see what she was like before as compared to when you first see her in the show...her look has always encompassed her personality  10/10

Life outside of the protagonist: she has none. Literally her whole driving force is Madoka Kaname. Feel that for her though. 0/5 

Interesting backstory: YES YES YES GIRL YOU HAVE SO MUCH GOING ON oh my god the actual EPISODE where we learn her backstory is my favorite thing to this day. I went into pmmm pretty much blind so I was absolutely thrown when it came up and it honestly recontextualizes everything she'd done in the show and is absolutely DEVASTATING when you realize what it means that she did all that she did. 10/10

Able to do adult tasks: yeah I'm sure she can probably. At the very least she knows how to shoot a gun and I will count that. 3/5

Character #2: Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop

Synopsis of the show she’s in: Set in 2071, in a post-apocalyptic world where Earth has become largely uninhabitable, the story follows a ragtag group of bounty hunters, known as cowboys, aboard the spaceship “Bebop.” As they traverse planets and moons in search of wanted fugitives, each cowboy contends with shadows from the past they can't outrun.

Character Design: 

 listen there is nothing that completely encapsulates 90s anime than Cowboy Bebop, and that includes Faye Valentine without question. She’s one of the most iconic female character designs of all time. Even if you don’t know who Faye Valentine is, I’m sure she is recognizable. 10/10 

Life Outside of the Protagonist: Though she isn’t the main character herself, (that honor goes to Spike Spiegel) she’s definitely a core member of the bounty hunting team. She also has a lot of her own things going on, she is her own person. 5/5 

Interesting Backstory: LOL WHAT BACKSTORY WOULDN’T SHE LIKE TO KNOW jk that’s an amnesiac joke but yeah she gets a solid 10/10 for that too. It puts a lot of what she does into perspective and gives her even more intrigue than before tbh. 10/10.

 Able to do Adult Tasks: I think so? Probably? Hard to say, I don’t remember.  3/5

I feel like I have to say I do absolutely adore Homura Akemi, all of my friends are very aware of my feelings but based on my own criteria she is the currently lowest scoring girl on the list. Tbh the only reason she was even on here in the first place was because I wanted to talk about her. I love her so much. The winner of course though by a landslide is Faye Valentine.
