guys cmon. be ffr please. akemi did Not love taigen. the only reason why she was desperate to search for him to the point of putting herself in danger is because she didn't want to get married to an abusive man (which she believed at the time that takayoshi was). when seki tried to dissuade her from running off, her reason was not "but i love taigen and wanna be with him 🥺" it was because she refused to be controlled and have her autonomy taken from her; she literally says "i won't be locked away in edo married to a stranger." and when seki still tries to argue that getting married to the heir of the shogun would be better than getting caught by brigands, she then says "that kind of man"—referring to takayoshi—"treats women like animals. they say he's a tyrant." and when seki chuckles and says "what man isn't?" her response is "you." she doesn't even talk about taigen. she is using him as much as he was using her. they both see—or, well, saw—each other as means to an end. for taigen he saw that marrying into the tokunobu clan would elevate his status and wealth. for akemi she wanted the right to choose who she married, and she wanted that person to be someone kind. that's it! neither of them loved each other. but since they were courting of course they acted sweet to each other, and they do still care for one another, especially due to their romantic history. but let's be real! akemi is a boss bitch who dropped taigen and forgot all about his ass as soon as she saw takayoshi was a nice guy. because duh? not only is takayoshi a better lover (it's implied their lovemaking lasted a long time) but he's also kinder towards her and presents her with an opportunity to claim power and freedom, which she would not have if she had married taigen, as she would have still been stuck under her father's thumb. so literally why should she settle for taigen's stupid ass! she may be a little naive at times but she's still incredibly intelligent. she would not do something stupid for the sake of "love." you know who would though? taigen.

🖤 Homura Akemi’s MBTI 💜
Tumblr media
At the very beginning of the core conflict in the Madoka Magica series, braided-hair Homura was ultimately an INFP. (INFP’s Assemble! ^o^ )
INFP’s are the Mediator Personality. Independent, brain-broken from too many useless thoughts, and introverted, although they do talk if they have to even acting almost extroverted to those they truly love. Also, they are constantly expressing their loyalty.
In braided-hair Homura’s case, countless action show that she is a Mediator. An introverted being who is trying to find the meaning of life or essentially, the happiness in it. She was hospitalized countless times due to her heart disease, predisposing herself to dealing with not only harsher physical obstacles but mentally as well. She’s lived being controlled by this disease, like a trapped soul before meeting the free, optimistic, pink-haired girl, Madoka.
As an INFP myself, at this point in Homura’s life, I believe she’s already dealt with the negativity of the world as opposed to the positive aspects of it, although it is never clearly stated. I may be stretching it, but Homura is a subjective thinker. She broods over philosophical, existential ideals and nihilistically questions a lot of the moral values based on her own perspective on what is right and what is wrong. INFP’s ask, do people really care about me? What is there to live for? If everyone is so occupied with themselves, why should I even talk? Or hang out with people? Please people? But since INFP’s are still human, we still live like everyone else, and so braided-hair Homura is an example of a shy bystander who never thought about changing this world. However, a shift in her personality occurs once she meets her sole purpose for living, Madoka Kaname.
Tumblr media
Why Madoka Kaname? Why did Homura specifically choose this girl to live for?
The answer is because Madoka Kaname is the definition of truth and innocence. In other words, she is the essence of purity in this dirty world. If you’ve found such a person out of the billion others in this world, wouldn’t you want to live for them too?
Homura witnessed the first death of Madoka Kaname and her emotionally, non-hesistant response to Kyubey was “I want to redo my meeting with Miss Kaname. But this time, instead of her protecting me, I want to become strong enough to protect her” ‘Tis passionate love indeed. But as we all know, if the wished wasn’t what you hoped it to be, you’ve just stepped into hell. Someone that doesn’t understand even herself can’t expect to save others. Homura’s drastic change was inevitable--being a mortal ready to save an angelic being. This is when she decided to step out of her boundaries, make her own decisions and face all the impurities so Madoka doesn’t have to.
Hardcore Homura Akemi has turned into an INTJ. The Mastermind.
INTJ’s are analytical. High independent tendencies, and not sociable than other types. They have low tolerance for rampant emotionalism and do not recognize authority based on tradition. Spends a looot of time in their own crevices of the mind! Sounds very much like Homura!
As seen in the anime, Hardcore Homura rarely rely on others. She uses her own plans, if it fails, then do it again with a better, smarter one. As these time travels have resulted in going through 100 timelines, basically making her 26 years old, she changed into almost like a machine. An emotionless robot in every other scene besides the ones with Madoka Kaname. Homura finds that revealing her true self only towards this innocently genuine girl will in return give back true affection, and so the possessiveness, selfishness seems reasonable. You wouldn’t want someone to give you fake pity. And turning into an INTJ doesn’t mean her INFP has faded into thin dust, her loyalty was blowing off the roof. At this point, she didn’t even care about the other magical girls unless it affected Madoka’s wellbeing.
So we finish off the part where she “does not recognize authority based on tradition” with the...
[Spoiler Alert !]        [Spoiler Alert !]           [Spoiler Alert!]
In what seemed like a selfish act, she rips apart Madoka Kaname from Goddess Madoka and becomes the devil herself. She has broken the rule of authority, from Goddess Madoka and even Kyubey. Tainting her hands with this grave sin to protect a single girl. Similarly to Light Yagami’s Case (Death Note) as he became the devil after trying to do a good deed, Homura is no different with her journey in saving in what seemed like in her eyes, the only pure thing in this universe. Creating her own world, solely for the pure Madoka she loves and finally protected at the cost of her humanity and goodness, her wish has ultimately come true.
