You just saw a musical street performance by a group of cat-folks in Buskers Street in Moggie Boroughs, leading to a conversation about music and dance in your world compared to Hyquile with Energetic Kenma

It wasn’t hard for him to convince you to show him some songs on your phone, hence you found yourself scrolling through a bunch of downloaded music on your device with the bubbly cat-folk next to you oozing utter amazement at this ‘magic.’

At some point, Lev and Yaku had joined you, trading their knowledge of folk songs and dances from The Dominion with trending songs and dances in the 21st century.

When you got curious about what dance in The Dominion is like, Kenma had been all too eager and willing to demonstrate some for you, hauling a very reluctant Yaku and Lev into several short sequences with him

In turn, you went through several iconic dances for them

Single Ladies, MC Hammer Dance, some simple shuffling, and a little bit of AKB 48’s Fortune Cookie dance just to show them something from Japan that used to be popular when you were growing up.

You also tried to explain to them The Lift from Dirty Dancing, and though Lev offered to do it with you for better visualization, you opted not to for fear of being dropped from his height. He is tall.

Yaku is the one shuffling through the music on your phone with one finger when WAP came on (likely Atsumu or one of your other friends downloaded it to your device when you weren’t looking).

You didn’t have a lot of hip-hop or rap, so they were intrigued by this new beat and, unfortunately, asked if there is a dance to it.

You flushed and checked the area for any other presence besides the three here before explaining you will only do it once because...well, they’ll see.

Kuroo had been looking for his High Council members, because really, where were they? He had been waiting on a report from Lev and he hasn’t returned since he left for lunch.

It is when he was going around asking his people if they spotted Lev or Yaku when someone pointed him in the direction they last saw him. As he approached, Kuroo’s sharp hearing picked up the sound of...music? It definitely isn’t the type of music they have in Hyquile.

He turned into one of the less used hall rooms and his legs stopped moving when he saw you.

Kicking one leg straight up and then promptly bending to the ground; hips raised high into the air.

...What are you doing to the ground?

Okay, you just did something that imitated how the cat-folks would walk when they were fully morphed, but you added some sort of gyrating motion to your hips? For what purpose?

When you dropped into a split with the smoothness of a feline, Kenma and Yaku let out calls of “Ooohs," "Aaahs," and “You sure you ain’t a cat-folk? You’re bendy like one.”

It was Lev freezing in place that alerted you to the presence of Kuroo at the doorway, with his arms crossed and impassive as ever. 

You froze too, still in your split position. “Uhh-

Kuroo’s cool and inexpressive eyes slowly trailed from you to Lev, and the tall cat-folk hunched from the immense aura emanating from his leader. It wasn’t threatening or anything but…

“I thought you had a report for me, Lev?”

Lev scrambled out of there, babbling promises of bringing the report right away, and Yaku had disappeared by the time you looked back around. Kenma scratched his head sheepishly, slowly muttering about getting a cup of milk tea away.

You had jumped up from your position when Kuroo started approaching and was desperately looking for your phone that was still blasting out - “Now get your boots and your coat for this wet ass pussy”

Kuroo stared at you, sharp hearing picking up on the muffled lyrics as if it was blasted right into his ears. His expression, even and unexpressive, did not change when he said-

“I have my coat and boots.”

Then looked at you expectantly.

 Vicious Atsumu & Frosty Osamu

The Miya twins are competitive. In both worlds.

In Hyquile, you watch the twins spar sometimes, and they watch you practice your routines, and your stretch sessions with Kita.

They insist and are fully of the belief that they are able to do whatever you can do.

Even if they are not the twins you grew up with, you weren’t going to let them roll over you like that. Your years of friendship with ‘Tsumu and ‘Samu just wasn’t going to let that happen, so you disagreed.

“We can have a battle to see then,” Frosty Osamu said.

“...wait, a battle? I can’t fight-”

Luckily, Osamu didn’t mean an actual pit fight. He meant them copying what you did and you trying to copy them, like a dance-off or battle-off.

They promised they will keep it fair and they will strictly only use physical skills. No magic or shapeshifting whatsoever.

You pointed out that it was unfair since it was technically two against one, whilst Atsumu heatedly argued that they were a set. He doesn’t play fair, does he?

Osamu volunteered to sit out and be the judge, promising once again that he will be fair against his brother.

You explained that in your world, things like these were usually done with music so you set your phone on shuffle.

So there you were, facing off against Atsumu in a pseudo show-off.

You dropped all the hardest yoga poses and dance moves you could, and the little shit had a snarky grin the whole time he copied you. He went through what he considers super basic moves like handstands, flips, and the like, which you cleared albeit not too cleanly.

It was never a fair fight to begin with. They were fox-folks.

WAP came on at some point whilst you were struggling to think of routines that could possibly take Atsumu off guard.

You are pretty sure ‘Tsumu placed that song in your phone without your permission.

Without thinking about it, you broke out in the WAP dance.

The twins stopped moving.

Just watched with wide eyes, straight fox ears, and mouth agape.

When you stood back up, you wore a victorious grin. 

“Heh! Betcha can’t do that, especially the splits!” You’re pretty sure they can’t do the splits. You won this.

“...” “...” They looked at each other, then you. 

But...

It doesn’t feel like you won? They were smirking like they were the winners instead.

“I didn’t catch it. Do it again,” Atsumu drawls. Osamu gets up to approach you from behind as Atsumu approaches from the front.

You spluttered, confused. “W-Why? I-It isn’t like you can do the splits anyways…”

They shared identical wolfish grins.

“If yer can demonstrate it again…” Atsumu starts.

“We would very much like to watch and learn.” Osamu finishes.

 Refined Oikawa

You were practicing magic in the study with Oikawa. But your focus was worse than usual that particular day.

Oikawa noticed immediately and had some tea prepared for you by the castle servants, hoping that’ll help relax you. It helped somewhat but things were still not going your way.

“Back in my world, I would listen to music when I’m studying to help me focus.”

“In that case, shall I have the royal orchestra play something for you?”

Bless Oikawa but that’s a bit much. It then occurred to you that your phone still works; you’ll be limited to downloaded music but it was better than nothing.

By this point, Oikawa is used to seeing unusual items from you but he has never seen you use your phone for music before.

You left it playing on the table as you went back to your magic practice. Oikawa watched your progress whilst drinking tea, glancing at the screen of your phone once in a while in interest.

“Whores in this house, there’s some whores in this house.”

“Psstooeey!” 

Oikawa choked on his tea.

“A-Are you alright?”

C-Cough. “Y-Yes, I’m-…”

“Did they say whore?”

Before you could say anything in response, “Wet ass pussy-” blared from the speakers.

“....”

You offered to switch the songs, hurriedly explaining that your friend placed the song in your phone but Oikawa stopped you, brows furrowing as he asked you to explain the background for this song named...WAP.

“There’s a dance for this music? And it’s popular?”

“Uhh...yes? It’s been a hit as of late...”

You’re not entirely sure how it happened, but Oikawa somehow convinced you to show him this dance. Oikawa has always shown great interest in everything you say and about the world you grew up in.

It was embarrassing but he assured you that he wouldn’t laugh or judge or anything.

And so, Oikawa sat back drinking his tea as he waited for you to lightly stretch your body out before restarting the song and waiting for the dance verse to drop.

“Now from the top, make it drop-”

As soon as you kicked your leg up straight, Oikawa choked on his tea. Again.

And when you dropped to the ground, moving your hips up and down-

Flashbacks to Hip’s Don’t Lie

Whatever tea that still remained in Oikawa’s mouth was spat back back into his teacup.

“Macaroni in a pot-”

And your legs lifted into one final graceful arc, sliding into a split-

Oikawa has never sipped tea so aggressively before.

From that JuriSana short story u reblogged, Sana is one of the three Japanese members from the KPOP girl group Twice, they're known to be the biggest current girl group in Korea right now. They've recently been promoting in Japan a lot and are topping the music charts there too. They have actually been on music shows with some of the 48/46 group too. They're even going to be at Kouhaku tonight with AKB and other Japanese acts!

“Magi De Pinto” by The Coinlockers [single, 2020]

The concept behind The Coinlockers gets in the way of the group more than it benefits anyone involved. The group is Yasushi Akimoto’s take on putting together a girl band, and while everyone can play their own respective instruments, the sheer amount of members assembled for this project makes little to no logistical sense. This isn’t a prog band — we don’t need 3 drummers! Thankfully, they have a YouTube channel to highlight everyone’s music-playing individually, but it’s tedious to actually watch the three simultaneously play drums in a music video.

But on the other hand, The Coinlockers should’ve happened sooner in the hands of Akimoto. Some of the best songs from the 48 franchise are power-pop songs given to idols to sing and sometimes even play rock ’n’ roll dress-up to. AKB’s “Heavy Rotation” is a great example. HKT48’s “12byou,” another. The new single by Last Idol, an Akimoto-adjacent franchise, is the most recent output to meet the Coinlockers halfway. So might as well reverse-engineer this process of handing great rock songs to idols and make a rock band from an idol-group approach. I don’t find any difference in The Coinlockers’ “Majito Pinto” from classic AKB. That can partly point to how Akimoto projects always end up sounding relatively indistinguishable, but it also shows how the core of its supposedly novel rock-band packaging has been around in idols all along.

The culture of "IDOL" in Japan.

It is still fresh in our minds that the biggest Kpop boys group "BTS" marked NO.1 on the billboard 200 album chart with the song "IDOL" last year. 

The culture of "IDOL" has developed deeply connected with music history in Korea as well as Japan. Being Kpop IDOL, over a  thousand of girls and boys train to dance, sing and other skills every day, but the small amount of them actually can achieve their debut. All the way for their debut as Kpop idol is tough, strict and competitive and even very few of them will succeed after their  debut.

On the other hand, compared to Kpop idol, the meaning of IDOL is very different itself in Japan.

The most famous Jpop idol would be AKB48. They showed up music scene in 2006 and completely changed the style of Jpop idols. Like Kpop idols, Jpop idols use to have the period of strict trainees, and they make their debut with full skills of singing, dancing as well as star aura.  

However, AKB48 have built their own style that fans make originally girls to idols. Over 400 girls have made their debut as 48 group members with almost no experience of singing and dancing. They were same as originally girls we see outside. At the same time of their debut, they start practicing. Fans pick their favorite girl to support and they enjoy their girl to be "idol". This style gets standard among Jpop idols.

The most unique thing is meet and great called, "Akusyukai". Buying a CD, fans get a ticket to attend the event. A ticket can replace for 10 seconds to shake hands and small conversations with the girl they chose. It means buying more CDs, they will get more seconds to have conversations. For 48 members, it is important how many their fans attend Akusyukai and come to their booth. Making long lines of fans is usually considered as equal with their popularity, and it will make other chances like showing up in media.

The biggest annual event is AKB48 election. Over 300 AKB members run for this election, and fans vote and chose the first place out of 300 girls. Same as Akusyukai, buying a CD and given a right of one vote. Fans usually buy lots of CDs for the girl they picked in order to boost their rank, so having a number of supportive fans is key to succeed their career of idol.

The girls chosen as the first place usually draw media attention and known as a star in entertainment world. We see girls chosen Top 20 on TV, magazine, radio and other media as well. Rather than skill of dancing and singing, the popularity is more important for their success. Rising the popularity, 48 members produce themselves like making Youtube channel. Making difference with other members and establishing their own style and character are another key for success.

Surviving and recognizing out of a large amount of girls are not easy. Instead of having a friendship, the members are more likely rival of one other. Currently, making a big uproar, A serious incident occurred NGT48. Maho Yamaguchi appealed that she was attacked by two boys at the entrance of her house. She mentioned that other NGT48 members told them her home as well as the time she gets back and gave the pressure for them to attack her. This incident is still argued and under the solution.  Sadly, this kind of incident occur and many of them are not announced in public. A cross distance between fans and girls lead to this kind of serious incident.

While Kpop idols have rising their popularity over the world, Jpop idols has developed and established its own style as a part of new Japanese culture. Instead of skills and looks, their attitude, personality and other efforts to produce themselves are step for being recognized idol. It comes new age for ordinary girls to be paid attention in entertainment world.

-success for wjsn: my girls got a win and their best-selling album yet so we’re on a roll now. but im somewhat worried because a lot of it comes from the new fame of c-line and between you and me i...dont think theyre ever coming back. prove me wrong yuehua.

-success for loona- is a debut mini selling over 50,000 copies success? ya know there are people that will say that based on how expensive and long their debut project was that everything was a flop and loona’s doomed but i dont really think that way. when lookin at it strictly as an actual debut they did great. i love my girls.

-success for clc- we’ll never know if anything could have come from a comeback after black dress because CUUUUUBBBBEEEEEE but im not salty or anything nooooo

-success for dreamcatcher: happyface and i think the girls themselves realize that their concept will never be mainstream but ya know what? my girls had a good year! they’re working hard and building a fanbase and theres nothing more i can ask for really

-someone please pay attention to sonamoo please: FUCK TS

-same for gugudan this is depressing: i dont know how their last comeback did but it seems like they kind of staying the same which is sad because gugudan probably ranks the highest of post ioi groups in terms of raw talent and consistently good music. stan my girl nayoung. 

-weme and pristin to actually get non-controversial actually good title tracks so we can put all of that to rest (though i’d die for wee woo don’t fuckin try it):  crush was well liked so we got that but FUCKIN PLEDIS OH MY GOD IM SO MAD IDEC THAT GET IT WAS GOOD THEY DIDNT GET A NON-CONTROVERSIAL TITLE TRACK THEY DIDNT GET ON AT ALL and NO PRISTIN V DOES NOT MAKE UP FOR IT FUCKIN PLEDIS anyway

Good night everyone for joining me on youtube today! and thank you for following me on produce 48 I’m very glad but a bit worried that i have been found by this many people. We talked about that with my mom a bit. Now I’m going to talk about the reason I joined pd48. I wanted to reset my idol career. New young members joined akb48 and I worried about my place in the group, and so I decided to take the chance in pd48. I wanted to change everything with my own effort, so before the show I worked out, dieted and learnt korean for the sake of this project.

I have been in akb for 9 years, but I didn’t have any confidence in myself. I hated myself. But I figured I had do start liking myself if I wanted to join pd48. And I managed to do that. During the first part of the show I really wanted to make an impact, so i arranged the song myself etc. for that sake. And it was possible because of all the time I have poured into arranging and music. I challenged myself to stand on the stage and put my everything into it. And it was very fulfilling.

During the shooting we lived in the dorms and filmed and stuff. That was interesting and I didn’t worry too much … but i was very scared of watching the actual show on tv. I had to have snacks nexr to me or I couldn’t calm down. I was able to watch all 12 episodes like that. I was mostly raised by my grandfather because my mom worked a lot. Even when I was struggling in akb48 group, and couldn’t do much, he always believed in me. My grandfather’s birthday was close to the finals and I wanted to give him a present, and wanted to debut partly because of that He always watched the show excited and cheered on me. But he passed away around the second elimination so he wasn’t able to watch the finale. And the thing that supported me during those difficult times were my fans and I also believe my grandpa supported me from heaven. I’m glad to have recieved so much love, from both my fans and my grandfather in heaven. That’s what let me get this far and I’m very grateful for that. Looking back to those few months.. I had a lot of hard times but.. it was worth it and from now on I will work even harder and turn on a new leaf.

Now it’s my 14th year in entertainment industry and 10th in akb. I love singing and dancing, and I love akb48. but akb48 is the kind of group that many use to step into their bigger dreams and that’s what I always wanted to do. But after entering university i had even less time to work on music. I was a bit lost during those times and I worried about that a lot. But then i found youtube. And so even though I never got into senbatsu, I think youtube gave me a place and I’m glad I took that path and want to continue on it. And in university I have made a lot of friend and am also enjoying more normal life there. One thing i wanted to do for a long time is that I wanted to go overseas.. and I was able to be a bit selfish in akb48 and I am glad that I was given so much freedom. Thank you As I said in the beginning, akb is getting a lot of new young members and they try to rise next to senbatsu members. I’m very glad I was able to challenge myself in korea and it was very exciting to give my all and to truly live on as an idol. I don’t regret anything. I have been thinking, since the very beginning, even back when I joined the group, about graduating akb48 and how I wanted to do it. Since the beginning I had decided that I wanted to graduate after doing something big. And now I feel like this might be the timing where I have given everything.

I’m glad I was given so much freedom in akb48. and I’m very thankful for having been there and that I was able to challenge myself in the harsh enviroment of korea so now I want to announce something I have been taken care in akb for 10 years now and it has opened me a lot of possibilites but i will graduate akb48 this year. and move on to my own path

After the last stage in korea, me and my mom went to eat korean barbegue and decided together that this is the perfect time. There were a lot of times when I was unsure. But B feel like in the end I don’t have any regrets about my life as an idol I will still resurme doing music, compose and sing.. My dream has always been to me recognized internationally and I’m so glad I have been able to do that. Keyakizaka46′s 7th single “Ambivalent” came out and holy shit it’s so good!!! They never disappoint, unlike AKB48 😂I love AKB, but they’ve gotten stale in regards to their music. It’s so nice having a 48/46 group that constantly puts out amazing ass music. I think they usually have a hard punk/rebel song and then they do a more cheerful/non-rebel song and they continue the cycle. This would be the more cheerful one since their previous single, Glass wo Ware, was extremely punk and rebellious (and I definitely can’t get it out of my head-it’s just that good).

ZAKZAK - A Conversation Between Fukuoka Seina, Okada Nana, and Yamauchi Mizuki!

AKB 48 will release the 52th single "Teacher Teacher" on the 30th. With Oguri Yui (16) of Team 8 as the center, it is a danceable tune with a KPOP sound, and has for the first time, a foreign choreographer,  Park Myung, a choreographing legend who was in charge of (SHINWA), PSY and GFRIEND . The single also holds a vote for the "10th AKB 48 World Election General Election" that will be held on June 16.

For this work of such attention, we’ve invited members who have entered senbatsu for the first time, 15th generation • Fukuoka Seina(17) and 16th generation • Yamauchi Mizuki(16), as well as the center of the previous single [Jabaja] 14th generation • Okada Nana(20) to have a three-way talk with us. We will especially focus on impressions of each other, the glamour of the new song, as well as thoughts about the upcoming general election, these 3 aspects. (Zakzak editorial department)

<First of all, let’s talk about your current circumstances with your impressions about each other. Let’s start with Fukuoka-san, who is in her first senbatsu>

Okada Nana (Referred to henceforth as Okada): Around the time she entered, my thoughts were “I wonder if this’ll be okay?”, but then I noticed, she’d become a person of firm character, who’s serious, and works hard, and draws in the people around her, I was surprised! Her dancing skill is also improving.

Fukuoka Seina (Referred to henceforth as Fukuoka): Yay! Thank you very much!"

Yamauchi Mizuki (Referred to henceforth as Yamauchi): I’ve received a lot of advice from my super reliable senior. I like her steady smile.

Fukuoka: I became close to Zukki (Yamauchi) during Aoki-san’s stage. I wanted to talk to her so I’m happy I’ve become a reliable person to her.

<Fukuoka-san was ranked sixth in the "AKB 48 Group Center Examination" that was held on March 10th. How long did you study? >

Fukuoka: I studied quite lightly for about a week, in the mornings of the days we had stage performances. I didn’t know that our first concert was at the Nippon Youth Center, but thanks to the exam, I learned the history of AKB48." There was also the history of [Enkyori Poster] and [Choose me!] (In 2010, the plan was born in Young Jump and Young Magazine to have each senbatsu members have a showdown), fans were excited and it became a kami-song during Request Hour, I also learned about that and it was quite interesting. Oppositely, I became a fan of AKB48 during this period (laughs)

Okada: For me, if I had gotten 4 more points, I could have entered senbatsu so “it’s disappointing huh” like that. Zukki, how did you do?

Yamauchi: I did not rank in (to the Top 100). Originally, I was not quite familiar with the details of AKB48, so I was really uneasy. "Punctuated with Tears" (AKB48 Official 10 Year History Book), I read it a bit but I could not make it in time so I throughout the Center Exam I kept thinking, "I want to know more".

Okada: Well, then what do you think made you want to enter?"

Yamauchi: It was (HKT48’s)Miyawaki Sakura. Even though we were at Troupe Shiki’s [The Lion King] at different times, I was able to have the same role as her so I started to take an interest.

Okada: What a connection. That’s amazing!

Fukuoka: I didn’t know that

<So because Miyawaki-san was in the same Young Nara role, and Miyazaki-san had entered HKT48, it gave Yamauchi-san a push?>

Yamauchi: When I was doing that role, Miyawaki-san who had just entered HKT48 came to see me. That was the first time I got to know about Miyazaki-san. Watching her steadily steadily gaining an incredible role in HKT48, I also felt “I want to join”.

<Even though Yamauchi-san is the most junior in AKB48, the one with the longest performer history from being in musicals is Yamauchi-san, isn’t it?>

Yamauchi: From the second grade of elementary school

<Because of the experience, your performance is drawing attention, isn’t it?> Okada: Her dancing is really good!

Fukuoka: Her dancing is limber and the posing is also good. When I’m dancing behind Zukki, and watching her, I get a refreshing feeling like I have to dance so as not to lose (laughs)

Okada: Dancing just from this much right now, I wonder how it’ll be like in the future? It can’t be helped, it’s going to be interesting from now on.

<In the 16th grader 'Let's Go Kenkyuusei!' Stage, you perform the solo 'Migiashi Evidence' (Originally performed by Fujita Nana (21) [6th Solo Single Battle Janken Event] Victory Single), right? What did you discuss with Murayama Yuiri (20) who produced the stage?>

Yamauchi: At first, it was planned that I would do a two-person unit, but then Murayama made it a solo saying" I don’t think they can dance like this.” Of course I was happy, but I was also worried about whether I could impress everyone just by myself, so I watched Fujita Nana's video and studied, always thinking about "how to improve"

Fukuoka: That’s wonderful! When I watched the video of their lessons, I thought, “oh so their dancing is like that” , but thinking about their further improvement now, I want to go watch it one more time.

Yamauchi: Definitely, please come and watch.

<This time since there’s 1 person from each of the generations from 14~16, how are the bonds between each of the generation members unique? >

Fukuoka: Each member of the 15th gen has a “kid who livens up the school” feeling, and strong individuality, so it’s fun to be together.

Okada: 15th gen has a strong “school-ish” feeling, huh (laughs). Because in the 14th gen, it’s just me and Kojima Mako-chan, so I think, "What will I do without her?” like that. In the new teams, we’ve been separated (Kojima is in team K, Okada is in team 4) so it’s lonely.

<The new teams will start performing in June, but before that, on May 9-13, Okada-san and Fukuoka-san are double-casted in Troupe Renacchi’s [Romeo & Juliet] White group and Black group, respectively, for the Juliet role, isn’t it?>

Okada: The script is an unexpected comedy, I was really surprised by Juliet's personality

<Are there elements unique to Director Tsutsumi Yukihiko's production? >

Okada: I think it’s definitely going to be interesting. Even though I play the same role as Seichan, since the other casts are different, it seems like the white group and the black group are going to be completely different works."

Fukuoka: It's hard enough to have the same role as Nana-san, and  the person playing Romeo, Naana-san(Fujita Nana) also has a lot of stage experience, so I think one way or another I have to get to grips with it (The role of Romeo in Okada’s White group is played by HKT48’s Kojina Yui) Honestly, everyone is really beautiful enough to be almost perfect, so I’m quite uneasy, but I think I will be able to grow.

<Now then, please tell us your impressions of Okada-san who is the most senior among the three of you.>

Fukuoka: Nana-san is a role model to me. During self-introductions at stage performances, while the other members are talking, there are times I do lose interest. But Nana-san properly listens to everyone, smiling, and it makes me think, 'THIS is an idol', so I also want to follow her example. Of course, her performances are also amazing, especially when she did her solo concert, her intensity was so incredible, I want to become someone like Nana-san.

Yamauchi: She’s really always doing her best at all performances and she’s also super kind towards her juniors. I thought that I’d like to teach the 3rd gen draft members in the same way, but as expected, my shyness was too ... (laughs). Nana-san talks to the 3rd gen draft members  with a smile, you can see that she’s kind to anyone, really, a kind person. "

Even know, I can clearly remember the Saitama Super Arena live. I was standing on stage and for a moment, looking at all the penlights, I thought “Wow, how strange that there are so many fans from so many far off places.” Everyone practiced so hard so that it would be a great event, I practiced so hard that I got cracks on my waist bone... (bitter laugh) Team 8 is making steady progress in improving our dance skills, so please keep an eye out for that!

Personally, I was really happy with being able to join the AKB48 all group dance senbatsu for “Yaban Kyuuai.” I’ve gotten a lot of female fans who have told me “I became your fan once I saw you dance.” I was also selected for the Team 8 dance senbatsu, so I had gotten some recognition from that and I was happy for that, but recently it had died down a bit. I also became kennin with Team K, which puts an emphasis on performances, so this year I want to do my best with dance lessons, and to try to make choreographies. I also feel that with this new team, I can try to absorb what I can from my senpais to level up and maybe compete in a dance competition. I want to try to challenge many new things. In particular, one thing I want to try is a stage play or a musical. I want this year to be me not getting frustrated while going at full power.

just saw a post from you about izone on my dash thanks to that weird catch up(?) thing tumblr does, and it got me thinking about how izone definitely has the most chance to stay in some form after their time is up out of all the temporary survival show groups. like, they are huge moneymakers for one, and we all know how entertainment companies love some good dollar. plus, as far as I'm aware at least, there are more members with less previous/outside convictions, unlike wanna one for example

yeah and like some companies might not wanna debut the members, because they might wanna distance themselves from the rigging scandal, you know? OTR has its problems for sure, but the fact that it’s a label set up specifically to manage izone and fromis 9 instead of the group being managed by a sort of temporary thing like the company that managed IOI, Wanna One, and X-1, like, i think that stuff bodes well. it seems like izone has a more dedicated team involved in managing them than the others had, and OTR also manages another girl group that is permanent (though not well... but i’ll save the discussion of how OTR manages fromis for another post) means they have the infrastructure there. i dont think its impossible to imagine OTR negotiating contract stuff with the companies that the members belong(ed) to. some more than others, maybe. like on the one hand, even if 8d might not keep hyewon, starship will probably wanna hold on to wonyoung and yujin, but on the other hand... starship is one of the primary companies facing legal action in the rigging scandal. wasnt their ceo arrested or something?

so yeah like think about it... lemme go down one by one actually

Eunbi and Chaewon are from Woollim, and probably were both predebut members for Rocket Punch. groups are planned for a while in advance, and probably Woollim had the idea of sending some members of their future group to Produce 48, knowing that even if none of them made it in the final lineup, they’d still continue with debuting in their own new girl group and they’d have the name recognition from having at least been on the show. Eunbi and Chaewon did end up debuting in the final lineup, but if they hadnt, they would’ve been in Rocket Punch, for sure. but if/when Izone disbands... i’m not sure Eunbi would join. i could see her being a soloist of some sort, but she’s a lot older than most of the RP members, which wouldnt have been as much of an issue at debut but will be more of an issue later, especially since Yeonhee will have been the leader for two years at that point (and Eunbi would definitely be placed in the leader position if she joins). I could see Chaewon in Rocket Punch though. but again, who knows?

Yena could be placed into Everglow but obviously, Everglow is the group that has been in existence for the longest time out of the other prospective Izone-member groups. and they’ve found a decent amount of success too, like, Yuehua might have been banking on Yena joining at first, but they don’t really *need* Yena anymore, you know? Everglow has a strong identity and will be even more established by the time Yena would be added. I wouldnt necessarily be opposed to it, because Yena definitely is still close to the members, it wouldn’t feel unnatural and they’d all definitely get along really well, but it’s not really necessary. also I think anyone who is a fan of Yena cant imagine her debuting without Yuri at the very least... or maybe that’s just me

which brings me to Yuri. what’s gonna happen with Yuri? her company when she was on PD48 was just Stone Music... the company that owns OTR. like... no matter what happens, Yuri will stay with OTR, no doubt. even if she debuts as a soloist or something, i guarantee it’ll be under OTR (or Swing or whatever. but i think it’d make sense for her to remain adjacent to fromis 9). unless maybe she leaves and joins Everglow with Yena lmao... but i cant really picture that hahaha

Hyewon and Minju... their companies are really small, it seems. even if everything goes according to plan and Izone disbands, i think it’s pretty unlikely that either of them will remain under 8D Creative and Urban Works, respectively. i’m not sure either of them would make good soloists either............

as i said, Wonyoung and Yujin’s future is both more set in stone than the others and also more up in the air than the others. it’s both of those contradicting things at the same time. who knows. also Starship just debuted a group with their X-1 member(s? i dont know), will they really debut yet another group in a year or so? WJSN should still be their gg focus....

Chaeyeon has been part of a known trainee group at WM for a while, it’s likely that they’ll debut together, but.... Chaeyeon has such ridiculous potential, and she’s a couple years older than the other trainees in that group if i remember correctly (it’s been a while since i checked), so like.... i’m not saying it’d be a waste, cause idk, maybe that group would be awesome but.... I mean.... 

J-Line.... Sakura, Nako, Hitomi... who even knows... okay so Sakura will likely be in a position to “graduate” from the AKB group she’s in by then, and who knows what she’ll do after that, but AKB48 won’t wanna give up Nako and Hitomi most likely. i think especially Hitomi because like... from what i understand, it’s not like she was totally unknown or totally unpopular when she was in her AKB group (idk which one) back then, but it’s certainly true that she was not like a household name by any stretch of the imagination. suddenly, one of the idols they had becomes super popular all of a sudden... they aren’t gonna wanna give that up. sigh. Nako and Sakura were known much more already, so i feel like they actually have more leeway to do their own thing after Izone disbands. i’m not sure about Hitomi though. also i’m not sure what they’ll all even wanna do after the disbandment! there’s a chance that even if they can do whatever they want and are free agents, they’ll still wanna go back to Japan to promote there. and that makes total sense and i wouldnt blame them at all!!! that’s their home! i feel like Sakura has the highest chance of staying in Korea and hopefully (fingers crossed) staying with Chaeyeon.... but i mean i know i would like to see all three of them stay lol

and that’s all of them. idk, idk what’s gonna happen. there’s no nice way of saying this, but uh... Izone dont have the kind of monster-talent that the IOI members had... and EVEN THEN, like, look at the IOI groups... like even though IOI had members like Sejeong, Yoojung, Chungha, etc who come around only several times in a generation, look at the post-IOI groups... none of them are doing very well except for Chungha’s solo career and WJSN, and it’s not like WJSN is there purely because of Yeonjung’s time in IOI. WJSN wasnt formed around her though, she was added later. i think it’s clear that even if you have the most talented idol in the universe, building a group around that one member... doesn’t work. you have to build a group around the strengths and weaknesses of ALL the members. debuting a whole group in order to just promote the one or two famous members does not work, and that’s been shown time and time again, unfortunately. you have to make a real effort to promote all of them. and those IOI group examples are with talent like Yoojung, Doyeon, (Jung) Chaeyeon, Sejeong, Mina, etc! no offense to Hyewon or Minju or someone like that, but, like, if building a group around Sejeong doesnt work, then certainly building a group around Minju wouldnt work either.....

i mean no offense to the members of Izone, i think they are really talented! they have some monster-talent members too! but without a doubt, their strength is as a unit. as all 12 of them. Yuri is a great vocalist, but a hypothetical Yuri-focused group wouldnt last (unless she’s just treated as a totally equal member to the other members... which is kind of impossible given the way the media works). the worst case scenario would be if not only does the group not become popular just based on the popularity of one member, but what if that member loses their popularity once they arent part of Izone? you know? I know I’ll follow their careers wherever they go, but will some people follow Yuri without Joyuriz? will they follow (Lee) Chaeyeon without the rest of Izone? idk man... idk. 

so what i’m saying is... there’s a real case to be made. i don’t think it’s unrealistic to think that the companies themselves know this and are also unsure of what the best step forward would be. maybe theyve even considered letting their Izone member go, if they dont think they would make their investment back by debuting them in a group of their own. idk. i think it’s at least likely that five or six of the Izone members will end up still together, even if the other half don’t. i suppose we’ll just have to wait and see though, cause its not like there’s much we can do about it :(
