November!!!!!
your monthly late post is here! and this time it's for a very special month, by far my favorite month of 2023 (we still have to wait until December though, in this house we play fair and square hahah) hello lads and lasses, hoping all is well wherever you are!
oh boy where do i even start! so November is my bday month, CoIdpIay Jakarta month, and CoIdpIay's first Asia/Oceania leg of Music of the Spheres world tour!!! this post is gonna be yet another long one because so many exciting things happened and i want to retell every juicy detail of them!
first of all, a little heads up, for laying low purposes i'll be censoring a few words (lowercase L changed to uppercase i, etc) so rest assured my keyboard is OK! second of all, if you saw my instagram stories or read my tweets you guys must be wondering why all of a sudden i got to see CoIdpIay in Jakarta when i clearly said i lost the ticketing war and that i will never buy from scalpers?
this is where one of the greatest adventure of my lifetime started. that seemingly contradictive event is solved by a very unexpected turn as a causal effect of something i did without much thinking a long time ago: i signed up for Love Button (LB) voIunteering project! a little bit background story, CoIdpIay have been partnering with a lot of non-government organizations working for environment, social justice, and humanity, where LB is one of them. every single concert show the band will bring along these NGOs to create impact at the cities they visited. the NGOs will then open a call for volunteers asking locals to join in. when CoIdpIay Jakarta was announced around May, even after i knew i can't see the band, i only thought that at least i get to join an activity that is endorsed by the band, brings positivity, and provides help. so i quickly signed up for LB, and as time flew by i kinda forgot about it.
around mid October aka 1,5 months before CoIdpIay Jakarta, i got an email from LB's head coordinator asking for confirmation from the people who've signed up whether they're still interested to volunteer, there were 27 people contacted. i remember immediately replying with a "yes please!!!" because i was just so excited 😂 then a week later another email from LB HQ again asking for confirmation from the ones who are still interested whether we have any idea which Indonesian NGOs LB can work with and would we be able to make it to spare some time for voIunteering project, this time only 19 people were contacted. then at last, around a month before CoIdpIay Jakarta, LB HQ made a WhatsApp group for the remaining 10 people. i remember thinking, "oh, only ten people can make it," which is understandable because usually the volunteering project will be held on d-1/d-day of the CoIdpIay show, where Jakarta's will be on a weekday.
here's when things get a whole lot more interesting! after all ten of us joined the group, LB HQ dropped the surprise: all of us will get a CoIdpIay Jakarta ticket, free of charge, courtesy of the band!!!!!
i remember receiving the news on a Friday during a class (yes i played with my phone during class do not imitate) and wanting to scream and jump and laugh but i couldn't because i was on a Zoom meeting with my cam on 😂 i never expected this to happen and never even dared to imagine this stroke of luck will ever come to me 🥺 until this very second as i type this i still can't fathom how when it's yours it will be yours no matter what. i mean: i remember feeling so dejected after not being able to secure any ticket on three different occasions (BCA presale, general sale, Infinity tickets sale) and knowing so many scalpers and scammers are out there waiting to prey on me, yet! i still get the ticket, there's a way for me to see the band at my home stadium, from a very unexpected source, and without spending any money!? i was over the moon, rejoicing over the news with a coldplay twitter friend who also got selected as one of the volunteers. i couldn't really talk about it since i want to keep it a secret because at that time i didn't exactly have ticket already, so i didn't want to jinx it.
anyways, LB HQ announced the volunteering project will take place d-1 CoIdplay Jakarta. here was when i encountered the first problem: during CoIdplay Jakarta week, i also had a orthodontic seminar happening (LB volunteer on Nov 14, CoIdplay Jakarta on Nov 15 while the seminar was on Nov 14-16) and at first i was heartbroken because initially
(edit: 31/12/2023 - i’m crying i actually have this Nov post almost finished in drafts BUT THEN BAM more uni assignments i procrastinated even more 🥲 so now i’m gonna finish this post lol)
because initially i thought i couldn’t make it given that i have to attend the Jakarta Orthodontist Meeting seminars, but biidznillah it was actually the one thing that made it possible for me to clear my schedule in a way that i don’t have mandatory classes and i can just slip away unnoticed! this is again, one of those times Allah helped me in ways i never expected and He came from unexplainable twists…
so yes, the days leading to Love Button volunteering day and coldplay Jakarta were charged with adrenaline, literally the best kind of wait i’ve ever experienced haha. i remember when November 14th finally came, i was sooo relieved and nervous at the same time i had to force myself to go to sleep the night before and woke up super early. my plan was: the volunteer work was from 7-9 AM and then i’d go straight to Kuningan where the seminar was held. important note is that the seminar started at 8.30 AM so i was late for almost 1.5 hours (i volunteered at Lapangan Banteng Park at Central Jakarta and the seminar was at South Jakarta 🥲) but yeah! the rush to be quick while also enjoying it was so fun! volunteer work was trash collecting with friends from Trash Hero Jakarta and though it was scorching hot i got to finally meet the rest of Love Button vols (that now are my very great friends, we’re seeing each other again for Coldplay Singapore haha) also! Nov 14th night i went to ColdplayXtra’s fan meetup and met even more coldplay friends!!! we had singalongs while having dinner and sharing stories, i could feel the way our love for the band brings us together, it was instant friendship bond made one after another we conversed like we were longtime besties.
next day comes, the main event of the month: coldplay Jakarta d-day!!! oh my god. when i tell you i can’t even describe how magical that day was, please believe me i feel like right now it’s kinda pointless trying to write it down because the range of emotions i feel that night was so diverse and no word can bring it justice 🥹 but i’ll start from the morning, i had to come to the seminar first because i had to scan my barcode for my attendance record, then at 12.30 PM after i ate lunch & did my prayers i went to Fairmont Hotel to exchange my ticket (the tickets for Love Button vols are different than the rest, because we got special seated VIP ones with ‘guest of the artist’ tagged for us!!! 🤩) then after that we crossed over to Gelora Bung Karno stadium complex.
apparently our tickets also have different instructions where we were to enter the stadium complex from a different/sterile gate, so we didn’t queue at all 🥹 got our lightning wristbands and then we took photos, literally hunting for any photobox or photo ops around the complex because we didn’t need to queue to go inside the stadium (since our tickets are seated ones) to pass time. dozens of photos collected, then we sat down and ate our meals as we wait until gates open time. another surprise came: Coldplay reposted Love Button’s instagram post!!! another once-in-a-lifetime bucket list checked: having our faces broadcasted to almost 24M of coldplay’s instagram followers 😂
around 6 PM we were finally allowed to enter the stadium and my oh my. GBK is HUGEEE! i have a very bad depth/distance perception at first i was like, oh this stadium is not that big. but when i finally had a fixed point of reference (it was the pillars above my head lol) i realized just how spacious and gigantic it is! i mean, the capacity is 85,000 people!!! woah and seeing the place getting filled slowly was quite a view. we had Rahmania Astrini as our opener and she was great! her songs are nice and her voice is A+, i suggest checking her out!
9 PM finally arrived and i remember saying to kak Jess how buzzing with surmounting energy i was as we all held our breath for the long awaited opening track signifying the band’s entrance: John William’s E.T’s theme, the Flying Theme!!! as a film score enthusiast i was this close to combust up in flames, two of my favorite things in one go, my heart can only take so much 🥹🥹🥹
then Higher Power started playing, and it began, the show i had been waiting for 9 years… i remember feeling like i ascended to cloud nine, as the stadium lit up with colors and all i could do was sing as loud as my vocal cord allowed me to, jumped up and down in the most literal way because i couldn’t stop moving around to the beat and the rhythm, and just overall trying to gulp down taking in
(edit #3, 23/01/2024: lol i am sorry my assignments were really holding me from finishing the post but! here i am d-3 to my coldplay Singapore trip, resuming the story!)
i don't think i can put into words what i felt during the show, it was simply magical. everything and everyone was so fully energy charged. and i'm so glad i saw the band with nine other Love Button volunteers because they were in the same brain wavelength/frequency as me so it goes without saying it was super duper fun enjoying whatever the band gave us during the show 🥺 best day ever, best early birthday present ever. the friends i met and found along the way are some of the best people i've ever had the precious chance to come across. these memories are to last for a very long time. so huge thank you for @coldplay no words could ever express my gratitude enough 💙
then along came my birthday, and my classmates held a mini celebration for me, though hilariously they admitted it was almost a disaster because they weren't sure the exact date - i'm the walking reminder of the class so it was impossible to ask the bday person what's their bday 😭😂
all in all, November's adventures are full of fun! the fact that the most seemingly impossible things to happen still found its way to happen is mindblowing. it cemented even deeper into my psyche that to trust Allah is to have the best plan ever. i could literally meticulously plan from A to Z but when He decided upon another, that's my path. even until today i still can't believe against all odds, with many conflicting schedules, tight spots, i still made it. with my faith in me, i will have not to worry. this actually soothes my overthinking self better than anything! haha
life is good, alhamdulillah. see you in the December post that i'm also currently writing (lol!) and also in January post that i'll write after i'm back from Singapore, from yet another adventure of a lifetime! 😉
#alhamdulilah always#i can’t believe i saw coldplay in my home stadium#yaAllah i will never ever doubt your decisions ever again#life is good alhamdulillah

the dead poets on ice: another headcanon from hell
hey guys!! sooo @pretentious-strikes helped me come up with this idea so big big shoutout to faye ily bestie
uh yeah i had some trials and tribulations over this but it's here :)
also, when i say the poets, i'm including chet and ginny and chris in that. i need to give them a name though. i thought sapphic trio or sumn???
neil: i love this boy but he cannot skate </3 he's got so many talents and yet this is not one of them. he spends the entire time clinging to todd (who also isn't entirely sure he can skate well) and the other half quoting dramatic shakespeare scene and faking his death on the ice HAHAHAHA. can you imagine him pretending to stab himself with a dagger while quoting the end of romeo and juliet? and then he just. fake stabs himself and pretends to die on the ice while todd is like "GET UP I NEED HELP"
todd: the literal definition of "i think i'm doing it right???????" like he kinda knows what he's doing because he skated once two years ago but at the same time it's still a new feelings and he's disoriented?? the fact that neil is hanging onto him for dear life kinda makes him feel like he should know what he's doing, so he fakes it til he makes it because he doesn't have the heart to tell neil he is no safer in his hands than in the jaws of a shark. he leaves better than he was at the beginning, of course, but boy were those first ten minutes absolute hell for him (except for the neil holding onto him part. that was nice.)
meeks: not horrible, not fantastic, but secure in the knowledge that he can skate wherever he pleases without have to worry about falling over. he's just freaking zen the entire time, more of a spectator than a player in whatever chaos is occurring. he makes the occasional sarcastic comment, but spends the majority of the time focusing on his own craft (a.k.a. skating in circles around the edge of the lake). he'll help if anyone gets injured, but otherwise he's perfectly content with his own thoughts and we love it for him :)
cameron: who is a perfectionist? richard. who's good at everything on almost the first try? rich. who's fucking incredible at ice skating? CAM THE MAN RICHARDSON THAT'S WHO. when I say this man has the technique, the style, i mean he has it. he's told approximately no one and yet exactly everyone is in awe of this man's skills. and while he's not showing everyone up, he helps the others that can't seem to go two seconds without falling on their asses. moral of the story: get urself a man who can do both, aka richard cameron.
pitts: he is as tall as a tree and just as uncoordinated as one :) he's the type of person to laugh at how much he sucks rather than get frustrated about it? so every once in a while you'll hear a yell from pitts, followed by a thud, followed by the loudest, most infectious laughter you've ever heard. Like he makes everyone else nearly fall from laughing so hard. He just raises the morale like crazy but is probably also prepared with first aid training if anyone were to fall and break an ankle or something.
charlie: does not know what he's doing, but he's doing it very loudly and badly. he has a baseline skill set that includes standing upright and skating slowly on the ice, but it soon progresses into ZOOM ZOOM GOTTA KNOCK EVERYONE ON THEIR ASSES dalton. he's just zip zoppin through everyone, cackling his head off and trying to push a select few to the ground. he never once succeeds to push cameron down even though that's his main target because cameron has the balance of a flamingo and even though charlie's laughing he's internally thinking "WHY WON'T YOU JUST FALL AND VALIDATE MY CHAOS????" he leaves without having knocked over cameron, but it's fine. he knocked knox over more times than he can count.
knox: um...he's the worst out of all of them. like he is...abominable. he knocks himself and everyone around him off balance whenever he falls because he's the flailing, Not Going Down Without A Fight type of faller. he's definitely frustrated by his lack of skill, especially when Chris skates by and does a little twirl right in front of him. But he's determined to leave that place not totally helpless, but does he? no. charlie made sure he didn't. moral of the story: it could've been better if it weren't for charlie.
chris: I feel like Mrs. Noel would've been the kind of parent to put Chris in gymnastics or something when she was a kid and therefore Chris has great balance and would be a GOD at ice skating. Like, she probably do a few of the little twists and turns that lower-level figure skaters can do. She ends up getting really focused on trying to learn how to do a spin and goes off in her own little world for a bit before she realized she forgot where she was and goes back to hang out with Ginny.
chet: this man is a football player, okay? ice skating is not his thing. First of all it took a hot second to find ice skates that actually fit him, and then when he finally got on the ice he was caught completely off guard by how SLIPPERY IT IS????? so he hangs onto chris like she's a life preserver for a while until she gives him some motivational pep talk that convinces him to let go. he does the weird preschooler slide-walk thing for a while, you know where he's making the movements of walking but his feet are just sliding back and forth on the ice and he isn't getting anywhere because the coefficient of friction is basically in the negatives? but he ends up figuring it out and leaves with one-half of a new skill!!
ginny: queen has never done this before but she does NOT need anyone's help. She is so dead set on doing it all by herself and not allowing a single soul to give her help. When she falls, she dismisses all the hands held out to her and figures out how to get up by herself. Once she gets the hang of it, she allows herself to be dragged around by speed-demon Chris Noel for a bit and once or twice they fall down in a heap because Chris is skating backwards in order to hang onto ginny's hands and therefore cannot see where she's going and furthermore hits every poet like they're bowling pins. But they laugh every time they fall because it's lowkey hilarious and also they're in love <3

Horror tropes? In my Roswell, New mexico? It’s more likely than you think!
In this essay I will...
...be mentioning a few horror/thriller movies and while nothing explicitly gory or scary will be shown in this post, those movies definitely contain scenes and themes that can be disturbing/scary/triggering, do your researches if you’ve got doubts!
...be focusing on the Maria and Alex road-trip, from the moment the car breaks down to the last scene with Travis’ twin. I’m probably going to be led to briefly mention the other scenes that are intertwined with this arc (the echo date and the Planet 7 Kyle and Isobel scene, as well as the marlex car drive when I feel like it is relevant).
...be approaching specific themes that are used in the scenes that compose this little arc and also more general ones like sound, editing, cinematography and color.
... be reaching a lot. I do not think everything I will be mentioning is 100% thought-out and voluntary (although you never know). But I’m a firm believer that in filmmaking, yes even inside a CW show, the symbolism comes through subconsciously. So like, maybe they didn’t mean to use corn field as a mark for transition, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that this symbolism works with the story they’re telling and for the journey the characters are in that moment. Additionally, lighting, decor and costumes are always a choice, just like the camera doesn’t position itself randomly, someone’s behind and thinking of the composition of shots that, even if it’s in a basic way, has meaning.
... be starting chronologically but I’ll also make jumps backward and forward, grasping on themes when they come up. Ok, then, let’s dive in!
This episode references and uses a lot of the iconic mechanisms of the horror movie genre. Alex and Maria’s comfortable road trip atmosphere, open hearted conversation in the car, breaks at the same time as the car itself breaks. The camera, steady so far, the shots following a well known pattern of shot/counter-shot, becomes more unpredictable and shakier and suddenly we’re out of the car, and bam, large shot.
From the moment they’re out of the car, you won’t be able to see the horizon. Maria and Alex are stuck in a corn field, and they’re stuck in the frame.
Then poof, Travis appears out of nowhere, accompanied with a pang of music, frightening us and them. Well, more exactly, it cuts on a shot that we’ve seen before without Travis, now with Travis, which gives us the appearing out of nowhere effect.
Alex says it best.
Well now they’re stuck with a strange guy with an axe, and in a corn field 😬
Hey, have you seen he’s got an axe??? or do you need a close-up???
Okay, this scene ends there. So, let’s take a break and talk about cornfields. There’s many examples of horror movies making use of a field of corn as a location, famously Children of the Corn (1984), Dark Night of the Scarecrow (1995) Signs (2002), that last one also involving, you guessed it, aliens.
Screenshots from the Signs trailer.
Corn fields are strongly associated with rurality, especially rural America. More largely, they can represent renewal, fertility or abundance. In the contrary, they can be seen as a very ominous location due to their immensity, a labyrinth in which you can’t see very far away and from which you’ll have trouble coming out.
Although I’m pretty sure Maria’s chase in the cornfield is more of a reference to The Shining (1980) it reminded me of one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite movies Tom à la ferme (2013), in which Tom is basically held hostage in rural Canada. The corn field chase is a turning point, the last of Tom's attempts to escape.
Cornfields apparently also often imply scarecrows, which are inherently scary in my opinion but we’ll talk about it more later.
The next scene takes place inside of Travis' cabin.
The lighting here is pretty low, the light coming from a few small sources, creating a lot of shadows. The main color is a greenish/yellow which can be associated with nature and earth, rurality, dirty, suffocating. If we look at it, the color scheme of the entire road trip is very much following this pattern of browns/yellows/greens because of the cornfield and the color of the characters costumes (the exception being Maria’s truck which is a bright red). In opposition, the scenes that are intertwined are either blue and orange for Max and Liz or a lot of pink/blues/purples for Isobel and Kyle in planet 7 (bi bi bi).
The cabin is messy, supposedly reflecting the state of the owner’s mind. We get a nice close-up on meat + a knife and all of the creepy skins on the walls. Also, it’s noticeable that from this moment on, the camera is shakier, we experience different angles too.
We are given many visual clues that something is wrong.
I’m gonna pass on the sound of the sound of the cow parodying a werewolf + the vampire diaries inside joke.
Btw, if the fact that Travis names his cows -- that he skins for a living -- like human women isn’t enough for you to think mmmm. we are in danger. Well, don’t worry. The cw spells it out for you!!
We know Alex! We got contextual clues!
Right after this, Alex and Maria make another direct reference to being in a horror movie situation.
ALEX: This is why I don’t like horror films. The gay guy always dies first.
MARIA: ????
ALEX: Or... second. Okay, that’s fair. That look, that’s fair.
I think this bit is interesting, because not only does it denounce an horror movie cliché (the black person of the cast dies first, the queer person is second) but also in this situation I believe it can be see as kind of a callout on the fandom’s behavior that i’m not gonna spell out for you but yeah. Fellow queer people, don’t forget you’re not the only one who is sometimes badly/unfairly represented.
Moving on. In the next scene, Alex is searching the cabin for clues, and we are also given some about Travis.
Either he has a twin brother or he’s got a framed picture of himself on his wall. Oh, and he’s military.
Then Travis startles Alex and plays a little bit of banjo, which is a good excuse to stop and talk about music. The show uses a lot of diegetic music aka music that is present in the universe of the story, that the characters can also hear. It justify the use of said music and it ties the audio with the picture.
The banjo already is heard at the very beginning of the arc during a cut from the planet 7 scene to the road trip scene. We get a few notes that indicate a change of scenery and that helps smooth up the transition, and I’m pretty sure it was also supposed to be diegetic music coming from Maria’s radio. The banjo, like the corn field, is super linked with rurality and rural America (again!)
Another reference of the banjo in horror/thriller would be Deliverance (1972).
youtube
I can’t not think of this movie when I hear banjo unfortunately.
The way Travis plays, aggressively bad, and while singing I Think We’re Alone Now, is supposed to make you think about that scene in The Umbrella Academy be quite unsettling, another point for isolation horror.
So sweet of Travis to attack Alex with a guitar, and then a smol knife, and not with the axe <3.
Then we’ve got a traveling zoom-in (or equivalent I’m not sure it isn’t a steady-cam here but the effect is the same) on Maria. This kind of effect can feel a little bit over-the-top and dramatic, in a old genre movie kind of way. It is usually used to bring the audience in, make it feel like you’re evolving in the same universe as the characters (here you’re walking toward Maria). In a scene where you should feel scared, it can be a mean to make you feel more engaged, as well as underlining Maria’s expression, her fear. In my opinion, this is also a way to tell you that from now on, Maria is the main character of this arc, the one that you will be following after the commercial break (that occurs right after) and making it more suspenseful.
The scene after the break is the start of the corn-field chase. Travis steps out of the cabin, the cuts are faster, many close-shots, some even out of focus, that accelerate the rhythm, and a long fade-in of a new song: a modern, electronic song (Kim Petra’s Close You Eyes) completely in opposition with the acoustic banjo and with the atmosphere of the scene, which makes it strange and makes you think oh, what a weird choice! (at least it did for me lol). The lyrics, however, go very well with the scene.
I feel it coming on You've got nowhere to run There's no way you'll make it out alive
Yep.
We find out right after that the music is in fact diegetic but for Isobel and Kyle, it’s another use of music to ease a transition between 2 scenes that are different in every possible way.
Now, the corn-field chase. As I mentioned before, I believe it’s a direct reference to The Shining’s ending chase scene where Jack Torrance chases his son Danny through a vegetal labyrinth with an axe.
From the shots to the lighting (from behind or on the side, making the characters look like silhouettes) both scenes are very similar. Also, Travis is styled like Jack Nicholson ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Oh look, Michael’s here to save the day!
Oh well, guess not.
Yeah, in this scene, and like we’ve been shown before, Maria is going to be the one that saves everyone. The racist cliché of the black character dying first in a horror movie is reversed, Maria is the last one standing. The scarecrow (that looked conveniently a lot like Maria) is supposed to play in favor of the bad guy, it’s a scary element, creating confusion and unease, but here the character decides to basically take it into her own hands and bend the rules. This character says i’m not that archetype, and she’s going to be using the horror movie tools against itself.
Lastly, the final horror movie recurring theme that I’m going to talk about is the twin/the double.
Yes, twins is a spooky tool used in horror movie because their similarities make them unsettling, uncanny.
There’s also the idea that if one were to replace the other, you wouldn’t be able to tell. The impostor is a very scary concept that Roswell has also dealt with before.
I can’t be the only one that has been traumatized by that halloween special of the Simpsons where Bart has an evil twin...
It’s the last twist of the arc, there is a bad!Travis and a good!Travis. The bad one kept the other locked-up somewhere and had taken his place.
It’s particularly interesting for Roswell that has a history with twins/doppelgänger, and that since the original show. It is a clear instance of in-world foreshadowing here! (howdy)
My conclusion about all this is that the people who worked on 2x06 had a great time building the episode and it shows, while also making it enjoyable to watch and yeah, we love to see it!

While we're all staying home to prevent the spread of COVID-19, arm-chair travel has never been more appealing or important. Sure, Netflix watch parties and Zoom happy hours can take your mind off of things for a few hours, but at some point in your self-quarantine adventure, you've likely encountered boredom and—if you're anything like us—travel-related despair. So, if you're mourning a canceled vacation or just trying to get yourself pumped for a future trip, check out the live streams and 360-degree virtual tours that will transport you around the world. From Rio de Janeiro's iconic Copacabana Beach to Manitoba's dancing Northern Lights, these feeds offer a glimpse of the far-flung locales we're missing the most. Follow along on the 360-degree tour, and you'll encounter residential ruins and burial grounds, Temple of the Moon, Huayna Picchu (the summit), and the Urubamba River. Make sure you have your audio turned on too, as the tour's narration will teach you a thing or two about the ancient citadel.
2 Tokyo, Japan
Tokyo Tower is already Japan's second-tallest structure, so you can only imagine the view afforded by a camera mounted 656 feet above the needle, right? Well, with this live stream, you don't have to imagine it—you can see it. 5 Times Square, New York City
New York isn't quite New York without its throngs of visitors and steady stream of yellow cabs, but not even a global pandemic can grind Times Square to a halt. While EarthCam's live stream reveals that pedestrians are few and far between, you'll see that the big screens play on with blinking Broadway advertisements and daily headlines from the Good Morning America studio.
6 Santorini, Greece

Welcome to Palm Springs Jacks
Palm Springs Jacks (aka PSJacks) is a men’s masturbation event for ages 18 and up. While PS Jacks is just getting started, there have been Jacks parties all over the world for years (New York Jacks was started in the early 80’s at a time when male sexuality was synonymous with AIDS panic.
This isn’t New York.
PSJacks celebrates male sexuality in the era of sexual health, radical consent, and expanded safer sex options like PreP and TasP. And one of those safer sex options is masturbation.
Upcoming Gathering: June 8th, 2019 7pm- join our PSJacks Group on MeWe, and you’ll have access to the event invite
Who joins a masturbation club?
With the arrival of the internet and various communities began to coalesce around the concept of masturbation as main event, and the a culture surrounding the kink of Masturbation was born- complete with it’s own lingo, websites, parties, gatherings and conventions. Bators, as we call ourselves, found ourselves congregating at Bateworld.com , which self-identifies as “the premier masturbation site for gay, bi and straight men”.
Check out this Feb 2019 GQ Article about Straight Identified men joining masturbation clubs.
What to expect at PS Jacks
Here at PS Jacks you are welcome to engage as much or as little as you feel most empowered. (Asking permission beforehand is always a brotherly thing to do!) Masturbation is as fraught with guilt for some people as any other sexual behavior, so patience and kindness go a long way. Some men want to watch, and some want to participate. Everyone wants to have a hot, fun time, and we run a tight ship to make that happen.
Our whole mission is bonding through penis, so we make every effort to help connect like-minded men in a safe, fun, sexy and shame-free environment. We have spaces for you to cam or to take dick picks with other guys who want to show off their fun time at masturbation club for their bate bros online. We have space and everyone’s consent in that space. (How novel?!)
There be naked men here. Naked men masturbating. Unashamed. THEHORROR (Best fuckin time of my life)
We verify your face picture, age and ID before entry. Although we are planning some non-cannabis/non-alcoholic for our 18+ bros, currently, our masturbation club gatherings are for male-identified people who are 21 and over, and who are interested in connecting with a group of other men through penis and beyond
Join us over at mewe.com – we post links to rsvp and other masturbation related activities in and around the Coachella Valley. Yes. Mewe. We take your privacy and safety seriously.*
Throwing events for our members in a private residence, as well as locations in and around the Coachella Valley isn’t free. Attendance by members is by donation to cover expenses like lube (and cleaning up lube), refreshments,, absolutely NO PARTY DRUGS. This space is for adult men to share masturbation in an entirely different way. While some of us enjoy adult beverages or cannabis (for our 21+ events only), your entire presence is requested at Palm Springs Jacks.
But I’m confused! I already joined a group on ____.com
We list our gatherings on many different sites. Join our MeWe group, complete your profile with your name and photo and you’re in. We verify all members identities, and all members have face pix. Once you join up and we get you verified, you’ll have access to guest list, address and details.
*The Lodge recommends:
Ringcentral: Powered By Zoom – make your settings end to end encrypted, can add contacts, chat, cam as a group, or cam one on one, and uses your email address instead of a username.
Signal: Messenger: that isn’t owned by facegoople ™. Set it up to let your messages disappear in 1-second or not at all. Journalists take this app seriously… YOU can upgrade from aol. Can be set up on computer after setting up on your phone.
New York Jacks: The club that started it all.

How to create the best at-home videoconferencing setup, for every budget
How to create the best at-home videoconferencing setup, for every budget https://tcrn.ch/3dHE6vD
Your life probably involves a lot more videoconferencing now than it did a few weeks ago – even if it already did involve a lot. That’s not likely going to change anytime soon, so why not make the most of it? The average MacBook webcam can technically get the job done, but it’s far from impressive. There are a number of ways to up your game, however – by spending either just a little or a whole lot. Whether you’re just looking to improve your daily virtual stand-up, gearing up for presenting at a virtual conference, or planning a new video podcast, here’s some advice about what to do to make the most of what you’ve got, or what to get if you really want to maximize your video and audio quality.
Level 0
Turn on a light and put it in the right place
One of the easiest things you can do to improve the look of your video is to simply turn on any light you have handy and position it behind the camera shining on your face. That might mean moving a lamp, or moving your computer if all your available lights are in a fixed position, but it can make a dramatic difference. Check out these examples below, screen grabbed from my Microsoft Surface Book 2 (which actually has a pretty good built-in video camera, as far as built-in video cameras go).
The image above is without any light beyond the room’s ceiling lights on, and the image below is turning on a lamp and positioning it directed on my face from above and behind the Surface Book. It’s enough of a change to make it look less like I got caught by surprise with my video on, and more like I actually am attending a meeting I’m supposed to take part in.
Be aware of what’s behind you
It’s definitely too much to ask to set dress your surroundings for every video call you jump on, but it is worth taking a second to spot check what’s visible in the frame. Ideally, you can find a spot where the background is fairly minimal, with some organized decor visible. Close doors that are in frame, and try not to film in front of an uncovered window. And if you’re living in a pandemic-induced mess of clutter, just shovel the clutter until it’s out of frame.
Know your system sound settings
Get to know where the input volume settings are for your device and operating system. It’s not usually much of an issue, because most apps and systems set pretty sensible defaults, but if you’re also doing something unusual like sitting further away from your laptop to try to fit a second person in frame, then you might want to turn up the input audio slider to make sure anyone listening can actually hear what you have to say.
It’s probably controllable directly in whatever app you’re using, but on Macs, also try going to System Preferences > Sound > Input to check if the level is directly controllable for the device you’re using, and if tweaking that produces the result you’re looking for.
Level 1
Get an external webcam
The built-in webcam on most notebooks and all-in-ones isn’t going to be great, and you can almost always improve things by buying a dedicated webcam instead. Right now, it might be hard to find them in stock, since a lot of people have the same need for a boost in videoconferencing quality all at the same time. But if you can get your hands on even a budget upgrade option like the Logitech C922 Pro Stream 1080p webcam I used for the clip below, it should help with sharpness, low light performance, color and more.
youtube
Get a basic USB mic
Dedicated external mics are another way to quickly give your setup a big boost for relatively low cost. In the clip above, I used the popular Samson Meteor USB mic, which has built-in legs and dedicated volume/mute controls. This mic includes everything you need, and should work instantly when you plug it in via USB, and it produces great sound that’s ideal for vocals.
Get some headphones
Headphones of any kind will make your video calls and conferences better, since it minimizes the chance of echo from your mic picking up the audio from your own speakers. Big over ears models are good for sound quality, while earbuds make for less obvious headwear in your actual video image.
Level 2
Use a dedicated camera and an HDMI-to-USB interface
If you already have a standalone camera, including just about any consumer pocket camera with HDMI out capabilities, then it’s worth looking into picking up an HDMI-to-USB video capture interface in order to convert it into a much higher quality webcam. In the clip below I’m using the Sony RX100 VII, which is definitely at the high end of the consumer pocket camera market, but there are a range of options that should give you nearly the same level of quality, including the older RX100 models from Sony .
youtube
When looking for an HDMI interface, make sure that they advertise that it works with videoconferencing apps like Zoom, Hangouts and Skype on Mac and Windows without any software required: This means that they likely have UVC capabilities, which means those operating systems will recognize them as webcams without any driver downloads or special apps required out of the box. These are also in higher demand due to COVID-19, so the Elgato Cam Link 4K I used here probably isn’t in ready stock anywhere. Instead, look to alternatives like the IOGear Video Capture Adapter or the Magewell USB 3.0 Capture device, or potentially consider upgrading to a dedicated live broadcast deck like the Blackmagic ATEM Mini I’ll talk more about below.
Get a wired lav mic
A simple wired lavalier (lav) microphone is a great way to upgrade your audio game, and it doesn’t even need to cost that much. You can get a wired lav that performs decently well for as little as $20 on Amazon, and you can use a USB version for connecting directly to your computer even if you don’t have a 3.5mm input port. Rode’s Lavalier GO is a great mid-range option that also works well with the Wireless GO transmitter and receiver kit I mention in the next section. The main limitation of this is that depending on cord length, you could be pretty limited in terms of your range of motion while using one.
Get multiple lights and position them effectively
Lighting is a rabbit hole that ends up going very deep, but getting a couple of lights that you can move to where you need them most is a good, inexpensive way to get started. Amazon offers a wide range of lighting kits that fit the bill, or you can even do pretty well with just a couple of Philips Hue lights in gooseneck lamps positioned correctly and adjusted to the right temperature and brightness.
Level 3
Use an interchangeable lens camera and a fast lens
The next step up from a decent compact camera is one that features interchangeable lenses. This allows you to add a nice, fast prime lens with a high maximum aperture (aka a low ‘f’ number’) to get that defocused background look. This provides natural-looking separation of you, the subject, from whatever is behind you, and provides a cinematic feel that will wow colleagues in your monthly all-hands.
youtube
Get a wireless lav mic
A lav mic is great, but a wireless lav mic is even better. It means you don’t need to worry about hitting the end of your cable, or getting it tangled in other cables in your workspace, and it can provide more flexibility in terms of what audio interfaces you use to actually get your sound into the computer, too. A great option here is the RODE Wireless GO, which can work on its own or in tandem with a mic like the RODE Lavalier GO for great, flexible sound.
Use in-ear monitors
You still want to be using headphones at this stage, but the best kind to use really are in-ear monitors that do their best to disappear out of sight. You can get some dedicated broadcast-style monitors like those Shure makes, or you can spring for a really good pair of Bluetooth headphones with low latency and the latest version of Bluetooth. Apple’s AirPods Pro is a great option, as are the Bang & Olfusen E8 fully wireless earbuds, which I’ve used extensively without any noticeable lag.
Use 3-point lighting
At this stage, it’s really time to just go ahead and get serious about lighting. The best balance in terms of optimizing specifically for streaming, videoconferencing and anything else your’e doing from your desk, basically, is to pick up at least two of Elgato’s Key Lights or Key Light Airs.
These are LED panel lights with built-in diffusers that don’t have a steep learning curve, and that come with very sturdy articulating tube mounts with desk clamps, and that connect to Wi-Fi for control via smartphones or desktop applications. You can adjust their temperature, meaning you can make them either more ‘blue’ or more ‘orange’ depending on your needs, as well as tweak their brightness.
Using three of these, you can set up a standard 3-point lighting setup which are ideal for interviews or people speaking directly into a camera – aka just about every virtual conference/meeting/event/webinar use you can think of.
Level 4
Get an HDMI broadcast switcher deck
HDMI-USB capture devices do a fine job turning most cameras into webcams, but if you really want to give yourself a range of options, you can upgrade to a broadcast switching interface like the Blackmagic ATEM Mini. Released last year, the ATEM Mini packs in a lot of features that previously were basically only available to video pros, and provides them in an easy-to-use form factor with a price that’s actually astounding given how much this thing can really do.
On its own paired with a good camera, the ATEM Mini can add a lot to your video capabilities, including allowing you to tee up still graphics, and switch to computer input to show videos, work live in graphics apps, demonstrate code or run a presentation. You can set up picture-in-picture views, put up lower thirds and even fade-to-black using a hardware button dedicated to that purpose.
But if you really want to make the most of the ATEM Mini, you can add a second or even a third and fourth camera to the mix. For most uses, this is probably way too much camera – there are only so many angles one can get of a single person talking, in the end. But if you get creative with camera placement and subjects, it’s a fun and interesting way to break up a stream, especially if you’re doing something longer like giving a speech or extended presentation. The newer ATEM Mini Pro is just starting to ship, and offers built-in recording and streaming as well.
youtube
Use a broadcast-quality shotgun mic
The ATEM Mini has two dedicated audio inputs that really give you a lot of flexibility on that front, too. Attaching one to the output on an iPod touch, for instance, could let you use that device as a handy soundboard for cueing up intro and title music, plus sound effects. And this also means you can route sound from a high-quality mic, provided you have the right interface.
For top level streaming quality, with minimal sacrifices required in terms of video, I recommend going to a good, broadcast-quality shotgun mic. The Rode VideoMic NTG is a good entry-level option that has flexibility when it comes to also being mountable on-camera, but something like the Rode NTG3m mounted to a boom arm and placed out of frame with the mic end angled down towards your mouth, is going to provide the best possible results.
Add accent lighting
You’ve got your 3-point lighting – but as I said, lighting is a nearly endless rabbit hole. Accent lighting can really help push the professionalism of your video even further, and it’s also pretty easy and to set up using readily available equipment. Philips Hue is probably my favorite way to add a little more vitality to any scene, and if you’re already a Hue user you can make do with just about any of their color bulbs. Recent releases from Philips like the Hue Play Smart LED Light Bars are essentially tailor made for this use, and you can daisy chain up to three on one power adapter to create awesome accent wall lighting effects.
All of this is, of course, not at all necessary for basic video conferencing, virtual hangouts and meetings. But if you think that remote video is going to be a bigger part of our lives going forward, even as we return to some kind of normalcy in the wake of COVID-19, then it’s worth considering what elements of your system to upgrade based on your budget and needs, and hopefully this article provides some guidance.

Which Compact Cameras Are Value Buying?</h1>
Samsung reduces EX2F level-and-shoot worth to $499 earlier than August arrival. Why you'll find it irresistible: The Canon PowerShot G3 X digital digicam is smaller than most massive zoom models, but it'll capture faraway subjects fantastically. To view full-decision pattern pictures shot with the Panasonic Lumix G7, click right here. For the reason that Mark III mannequin the lens has been a more moderen, sooner 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 equal lens. If you want to save your phone's battery and storage, then a point shoot digital camera does just that. Startup time, from while you hit the power button to while you take a shot, is brisk at just over 1 second. Gallery: Canon PowerShot SX730 HS press pictures eleven Pictures. Nevertheless, that bigger display screen on this compact physique smooshes the controls over to the correct, making menu navigation a bit clumsy. Lastly, the digital camera sacrifices a flash function for best compact digital camera the sake of its EVF, which frankly does not compare to other digital viewfinders in keeping with Panasonic consumer testimonies. It is value noting that is an EF-M mount camera, however you should buy an adapter separately to use it with Canon's wide selection of EF lenses. Additionally, the RX100 IV is a fast performer, ranking close to the highest of the point-and-shoot category. Other point-and-shoots under just like the Canon SX720 HS provide even more zoom in smaller packages, however those fashions have additionally considerably smaller sensors and may't compete with the optical high quality of the FZ1000. One other nice feature of the Canon G7 X II that is missing from the opposite two cameras within the Advanced Compact category is a guide flash possibility. These further features embody connectivity choices like Wi-Fi and NFC, multiple shooting modes for fun and artistic pictures. All I want do is at all times get the best performance camera that is still pocketable, and that inevitably means the most important in that class. With that in thoughts we'll review the pros and cons of each category of camera and recommend specific fashions. When traveling, I've used just about each focal length from broad-angle to telephoto and recommend a digital camera equipment that can do the identical. Extra folks than ever personal a digital camera of some sort, and pictures serve, greater than ever, as a major method of communication, thanks to the surge of social online communities. In guide mode, you'll be able to pick your ISO setting from 50 as much as 3,200, however low-balling simply results in crisper, pointlessly dark pictures. Compact cameras have their sensor sizes quoted as a fraction, comparable to 1/2.3in or 1/2in: the larger the fraction (1/1.7in is bigger than half.3in), the bigger the sensor. When you actually need high quality pictures out of your live performance experiences and you do not have a photo go allowing you to carry a professional digital camera into an occasion, the subsequent neatest thing is a good point & shoot digital camera. We do not assume those features are value the additional price for most people, but when you discover the SX710 HS on sale, definitely give it a glance. Boasting a 30x Zeiss-branded zoom lens with 5-axis image stabilization, an 18.2-megapixel sensor, and a nifty retractable OLED viewfinder, it is actually full-featured. The cellphone lacks some of the 6s's niceties and its display is simply too small for some, but the iPhone SE is the very best compact phone Apple has ever made. The GX85 and GX80 are the same camera - the previous being the US model quantity and the latter for everywhere else, besides in Japan, the place it's the GX7MkII. This compact shooter packs a 35x optical zoom with picture stabilization, a 20-megapixel bottom-illuminated CMOS sensor, and a three-inch screen that can flip up a hundred and eighty levels to face you for selfies. There is no such thing as a need to use a detachable shorter port for huge angle like on the Canon G7 X II or Panasonic LX100 The use of a large-angle lens will require the digital camera lens to be zoomed to about 32mm to avoid vignetting. As you might count on, the LX10 connects to your telephone through constructed-in Wi-Fi. When you best compact digital camera can take full handbook management, raw format capturing isn't included - that shouldn't be a problem for the average user, however might postpone some fans. Once I used my S90 for journey, I at all times just slipped it in my pocket. Nonetheless, both iPhone 7 models pack sooner f/1.8 rear lenses than the f/2.0 glass on the Pixel. This well-rounded digicam should last you for a number of years of prime-notch taking pictures, and at $800 (or £669) with the sixteen-50mm power zoom lens, your pockets will probably be in fine condition, too. We love that it's extra pocketable than Canon's closest equal, the G5 X, and having reviewed this Lumix feel the bigger-sensor evolution makes more sense than the ever-extending most zoom choices elsewhere in the TZ sequence. Advantage: Pocket megazoom produces glorious picture stabilization, have manual controls and has very high optical zoom good for pockatable digital camera. Easily switch images and videos to a appropriate smartphone, pill or Canon Join Station CS100 gadget with constructed-in Wi-Fi and NFC functionality, and share on social networking sites or view on an HDTV. For the extra advanced digital camera person, there may be the Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS70K which is built with a Leica lens optimized for journey pictures. Taking pictures underwater is a number of enjoyable, but it is a bit different from images on dry land! This model also comes with a circular 9-blade aperture that leads to beautiful blurry backgrounds, just like in DSLRs. Excellent image quality, 4K video, correct white balance, and a control set that reminds us extra of an SLR than a compact digicam makes this one of the best superior compact camera of the yr. That battery bulge does depart it wanting a little... expectant, however. I can say, and not using a shadow of a doubt, that photographers love to show their noses up at level and shoot cameras because most photographers consider that their gear will save them. The Canon G15 and Canon G16 fashions both have an optical viewfinder. Housed in a glossy but sturdy high-intensity magnesium physique, more commonly discovered on DSLR fashions, the EX2F combines excessive-finish image quality with comfort and speed. We stock a terrific range of cameras from recognised brands including Samsung, Nikon, Canon, Panasonic and Fujifilm. I really like it when travelling on business as a result of it suits in that pocket and still has a bigger sensor. Extra conveniently, for the reason that Galaxy Digicam also has WiFi, you could possibly merely tether it to your smartphone or MiFi - which is definitely how we preferred to use the system. Impressive image quality separates the Fujifilm XQ2 from other compact digicam choices. For these, who have been in search of a troublesome and durable digital camera on this list but havent found it thus far, do not lose hope as we are simply in time to current this harder than powerful Olympus TG-four level and shoot digital camera. Low-light efficiency is disappointing, and all of the photos I took in darkish situations came out horribly noisy, with any mild sources within the picture showing blown out. Actually, one great motive to buy a small camera like that is that for a low value, you can get an enormous quantity of zoom energy that's effective in situations beneath the solar or in effectively-lit environments. EBay , for example, has a whole bunch of listings for different types of new and used cameras in varied value ranges. By including a colour filter like the FLIP5 , the digital camera gets again these misplaced reds and can render colour that is far more correct and pleasing. The PowerShot N gives an 8x optical zoom and a 28mm large-angle lens, packaged with a. On the identical time, the G9X II is usually a excellent sidekick to your expensive, huge and ponderous DSLR digicam. Perfect portraits might be taken with the DV150F's Beauty Palette function which permits users to use one in every of a variety of make-up appears to be like to the subject of a photograph to immediately transform portraits. This feature is most sensible when photographing a subject who shouldn't be alerted to the photographer's presence, or taking pictures in an atmosphere that requires silence. The Canon G9x has what they name a 1-inch kind sensor. This was excellent timing as a result of Panasonic had simply launched the LX7's successor—the Lumix LX10. Practically 4 years after it first launched its unique EOS 6D price range full-body digicam, Canon has unveiled a successor. The Canon PowerShot SX710 HS is very similar to our runner-up in most methods. We have used our own experience with digital photography and consulted a professional or two to assist us out. And the G9X II aka G9X Mark II shows that it means business. Though Canon's DSLRs get all the eye, the company has lengthy been the standard-bearer for basic, affordable cameras. Sony's A7 range is particular as they're the one compact mirrorless cameras to supply a full-body sensor exterior of Leica's checking account-draining models. This all adds up to professional-grade image high quality and features in a light-weight bundle: it's our dream travel digital camera. Cameras nowadays no matter what the sort, provide very good resolution, high ISO sensitivity, nice performance that offers nice high quality through features of image control, and extra! The cam gives conventional DSLR capture modes, as well as a a wide range of creative modes and Sensible Effect Choices, together with an HDR seize mode. One great function that helps to set the Coolpix L840 apart from different models is its tiltable three.zero-inch LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY display screen, making it straightforward to use this level and shoot model on a tripod. Sony dominated the 1” sensor market for years, but Canon has come out swinging with a dizzying array of premium level-and-shoots. This makes the Panasonic LX10 the only real alternative for serious compact digital camera video shooters. Now, I can go on a protracted hike or a multi-day journey with a pocketable camera and an extremely-mild tripod with full confidence that the quality of my photographs is not going to suffer.
