I decided to email Jim Miller, one of the head people who worked on MLP:FIM, and ask him why we never got a proper backstory for Celestia, Luna (Alicorns in general) and Spike.
His answer... may not actually surprise you. (Please don't go harassing these people, and if you're gonna ask them questions please be polite and respectful!)
Basically it's because Hasbro wouldn't allow them... for some reason.
It reminds me of how they wanted to show Zecora's backstory in the show, but Hasbro wouldn't allow them (for some reason), so it had to get shoved into the season 10 comics...

If the show weren't owned and controlled by Hasbro, I 100% believe the creatives who worked on it would've done more.

All I'm gonna say on Cosmic Fury right now as someone whose only seen spoilers but has yet to binge the episodes: ....not a great way to end a 30 year old franchise.

Dang! I guess we’re really stuck in a rut with the investigation, huh Prime? If this is Prowl, then he’s covered up his tracks well…..
Prowl attacked weaker opponents?! That sounds like a coward more than anything.
So, to recap, Prowl not only slandered Prime’s character, but also started actually like a cowardice bully in battle simply because Prime and Megs were ending the war peacefully. If he’s truly behind the sell-out to Hasbro, it would make sense why a violent version of Optimus, that brutally obliterates any and all Decepticons (regardless if they’re peaceful or not), exists in the franchise (Bayverse, aka Mr. “Give me your face”). He may have wanted to shape a version of Prime that he wanted, communicating “This is the Optimus I want.” or “This is what Prime should have done instead.”
I have to be honest, Prowl is sounding less like a true Autobot the more we uncover his deeds and beliefs….
Actually, the first Autobots oppressed people like Megatron. OK, they oppressed Optimus too, but they liked the way he acted and talked. They thought he'd make a good prime to replace the ones Megatron took out. All that stuff about Megatron starting the war for fun and Alpha Trion saving Optimus is just tripe.
And me? Well, younglings were their sire's "property" until they came of age, so my sire could do what he wanted to me. I had no protection. Then... uh... sire had an accident and I got away. And Megatron found me and said he was my sire now, so I thought I had to make sure he had an accident too.
Yeah... G1 is all Autobot propaganda. Funny... Megatron actually says something about that in one of the episodes.
You did fight like glitches though.
Blame Prowl.

Mmm, that pixelation!  I made these back in the day, scanning in pictures from MLP storybooks and editing them in Microsoft Paint.  I’m sure this is exactly what Dylan Thomas intended his poem to convey.
H.O.O.F., aka Help Our Obselete Friends, was the petition to bring back My Little Pony after their cancellation in 1992.
Then the G2 ponies were released and a lot of MLP collectors were like “The fuck are those?”, which led to the H.O.R.N. campaign, Help Our Real Nuzzlers, which peititioned for ponies in the G1 molds to be brought back.
I’m not sure if the H.O.O.F. petition was ever sent to Hasbro . . . I know the H.O.R.N. petition wasn’t, because after G2 was cancelled in the US some collectors blamed the petition organizer, who said as much.

Parental Glideance Review aka My Headcanon the Episode
Say hello to the new Rainbow Dad!
Tumblr media
Thanks to our Canadian neighbors up north, this episode came out sooner than when we Americans will be able to watch.  Which is good and bad depending on if you consider this a spoiler.  So as fair warning, I will be talking about the episode... mostly.  If we can get pass the part where I gush over Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles that is.
First, let me address the rainbow colored elephant in the room.  I think I can say that a LOT of people were upset that Rainbow Blaze turned out to be not the father of our rainbow bruiser, Dashie.  Can you blame them?  Hasbro did a pretty bad job at trying to decide if they should make Blaze RD’s canon father.  In the TCG, he was named and given the title of “Rainbow Dash’s Mentor”.  Which is a pretty big deal when it comes to establishing a connection with a main character.  When you have a mentor that is rainbow colored, male, an adult pony when Dash was still a filly, and you have everything you need to conclude that Blaze and Dash are related.
Tumblr media
According to one of the designers in the staff, the pony in the flashback in “Games Ponies Play” was not intended to be Rainbow’s father but just another horse entirely.  A lot of people can argue that the physical similarities are way too strong for that statement to be true.  Ofcoarse, it is possible that she had meant that on the production side of things and Blaze was just a happy little accident.  In any case, whether intentional or not, Blaze clearly had a huge influence on Bow Hothoof’s design.  The color scheme being the biggest tip off along with their cutie marks having a cloud and rainbow trail in them.
As somebody that had been working on this blog since Blaze first shown up, I was highly anticipating this episode since the characters’ names where first announced.  On that day, I knew that my ask blog is completely noncanon instead of being semi-noncanon.  So seeing whether or not Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles can meet my expectations was an annoying tingle that festered my brain for months.  Now that the episode is out, I am glad to say that the two have passed the test.
You see, I had two clear visions of what RD’s parents would be like.  One of them, as you may have already figured out, was the Rainbow Dad blog.  Single dad taking care of his daughter by himself.  A mix of being an incredibly cool dad and a super embarrassing dad towards Rainbow.  Somepony that Dash can get along with, but not be seen in public with.  Pretty much a loving but overbearing dad.
The second headcanon of mine is just like the first, but in stereo.  I knew that if Rainbow Dash ever did get parents in the show, they would be the super enthusiastic supporting types.  Dashie has always been a very ego driven character so it stands to reason that her parents are the type of ponies to fuel that fire.  She is also seen as somebody with hidden insecurities as well.  So I always figured that, whether it be just one or both, that her folks would be one of those “super fans” you see at sporting events.  Being so loud and obnoxious about their cheering that Rainbow Dash would feel incredibly embarrassed by them.  They would be just too much.
Tumblr media
And oooooh boy!  That is exactly what we got and I love it!  It is like they took a page from my unwritten book.  They even had Rainbow Dash NOT tell her parents that she is a Wonderbolt.  If I had been more competent with my own ask blog updates, that would have been the big reveal during the Hearth Warming Eve arc!  Like...  Dang!  Are the staff writers secretly downloading the contents of my brain or something?  This is just freaky.
As far as character designs go, you already have a good idea how I feel about Bow’s look.  He is an older version of Blaze with a scruffier face and he has a buzz cut.  Meanwhile Windy Whistles is a clone of Rainbow Dash except she has freckles and hair that is not a rainbow.  I am actually really glad for that last one.  Having both parents have rainbow hair or a mix of rainbows did not appeal to me much at all.  Rainbow hair, I feel, should be a rare recessive trait among ponies.  The red heads of pony society.  It would be a bit conceded if the only two ponies with rainbow hair decided to get together and make a rainbow haired kid.
Tumblr media
It is also good that much like Twilight’s mom, Windy Whistles is also a throwback to the 80′s toyline and cartoon in the form of Windy Whislter.  Not quite Firefly but if you reverse the color scheme then you would have something to reach for, right?  Hopefully more people will catch onto the Windy Whistler part though.  Firefly got to be the first Wonderbolt.  Let Whistler be the baby mama, guys!
Now then, how was the episode?  This was suppose to be a sort of review, right?  Well, yeah.  I like it.  Though I might be a bit bias for obvious reasons.  The episode is pretty simple.  Scootaloo meets up with Rainbow’s parents, we spend time watching the three fangasm over her, Scoots brings them to Rainbow Dash and they embarrass her, she gets mad at them, she learns to appreciate that they meant well, she apologizes to them, and everybody is one big happy family.
The lesson of the episode is pretty good if a bit situational.  Not all parents are like Dash’s so it is not a lesson that can universally fit into everybody’s life.  Another lesson that parents might get out of this episode is how you should be supportive of your child, but be aware that there is such a thing as too much.  Scootaloo was really good in this episode.  She is both the catalyst and the solution.  We also get a lot more subtle insight into her family life.  It is not made clear if her parents are dead or just very neglectful (in a too busy for bonding way).  She brings insight that Rainbow needed to realize her folk’s good intentions and repair the strain she had between them.
To any Rainbow fan, I can recommend this episode.  There is a lot to enjoy.  The many callbacks to previous episodes and some entertaining jokes and background gags.  Rainbow’s parents also pass with flying colors by my book.  I am not even mad that they replaced the Daddy Rainbow Blaze headcanon.

General rule of comics is that if a character has a clone (or clones in the case of Spidey), one of them usually turns out to be evil. At least until they prove themselves a hero. Introduced in Web of Spider-Man #119 (1994) by Terry Kavanagh and Steven Butler, Kaine was the first of Peter Parker’s clone to be created by Jackal. However, since Jackal hadn’t perfected the clone process, Kaine had developed a skin degeneration, which caused him to become deformed and mentally unstable. Instead of killing him, Jackal abandoned him. Kaine blamed Peter for his existence but thought that Ben was the real Peter Parker. So while Ben traveled the country after originally fighting Peter, Kaine followed him and began attacking Ben. He also began protecting Peter as he believed that he was the same as him (a clone) and attack many of Spidey’s enemies.
He was eventually sent to prison after he confessed to a crime that Peter got blamed for. He eventually escaped and started working with Jackal in order to find a cure for him. However, he sacrificed his life to save Peter but the Jackal held him in a recovery pod. After Ben became Spider-man, Kaine made peace with him and eventually handed himself into the authority. He eventually escaped and tried to kill Norman Osborn. After teaming up with the villain Raptor, who blamed Peter for the death of his family, he was attacked by Kraven’s children but tried to escape to warn Peter. He eventually allowed himself to be captured by the Kravenoff who sacrificed his life in order to bring back their father’s life.
Kaine then resurrected by Jackal but transformed into a Spider-like man known as Tarantula during the Spider-Island arc. When he was sent to stop Horizon Lab from creating a cure, he was cure of the Spider-disease and his skin degeneration. After that arc, he took one of Spider-man’s suit and traveled Houston, Texas where he reluctantly became the city’s hero, dubbed by the media as Scarlet Spider, something he hated. He eventually accepted the Other’s offer and joined up with the New Warriors.  It was during this time that, Daemos of the Inheritor attacked the team in order to get Kaine but he was rescued by the Spider warrior and joined up with a alternate Ben Reilly and Ultimate Spider-woman, where they discovered that the Inheritor were clones. When Ben was killed, he transformed into a man-spider and attacked the Inheritors home world where he was killed by Morlun. After the Spider-verse, he was revived and became a secret agent of the Weaver where they discovered that a number of worlds had been affected by a zombie like Carrion disease. He teamed up with Spider-Gwen and they helped stop an insane Ben Reilly, who he later began hunting down. He has since forgave Ben and allowed him to continue as Scarlet Spider.
Unlike Ben, Kaine was never really a popular character until he became the Scarlet Spider. Since then he has had a number of his Scarlet Spider version done in figure form. He had one in the Rocket Raccoon wave but that was done on an outdated buck. He later got a MU figure. He is getting an updated figure in the upcoming SP//DR.
Made:
Spider-man Suit
Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Hobgoblin wave – Classic Spider-man (AKA the pizza eating Spidey) OR Marvel Legends Vintage wave 1 Spider-man
Background:
Just like Ben, Kaine has worn Peter’s classic costume on more then one occasions. One such occasion was when he tricked the Kravenoffs into thinking he was really Peter and killed him in order to resurrect their father. He alter worn it after he was cure of the Spider disease and Peter had to trick his friend into thinking Kaine was Spider-man
Why you need it for your collection?:
Just like Ben or any other character, I wouldn’t recommend getting this for Kaine but instead for Peter.
Does it need a remake?:
No. No. A thousand times no. Spider-man has had this costume done so many times it’s ridiculous.
Stealth Suit
Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Armin Zola wave – Big-Time Spider-man
Background:
After being resurrected and helping to defeat the Queen, Ben took one of Peter’s stealth and tried to began a new life in Mexico. Because of the suit function to change into a new design, it was eventually transformed into his Scarlet Spider suit but would be used occasionally, like when he tried to sneak into the X-mansion to killed Wolverine.
Why you need it for your collection?:
There is a reason that ShartimusPrime refers to this as the big let down Spider-man. The paint app on this figure is bad and is on an outdated build. Only get this for your Spider-man wardrobe but other then that it can be skipped.
Does it need a remake?:
Yes. Really needs a new figure on the Pizza Spidey buck.
Scarlet Spider
Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Spider-man SP//DR wave – Scarlet Spider
Background:
This is actually the exact same suit as the Stealth Suit, which had the function of changing it’s design to whatever the user was thinking. Kaine used it reluctantly to save some people in Houston while he was trying to get to Mexico. The media dubbed him Scarlet Spider, which he hated because that was Ben’s name.
Why you need it for your collection?:
While Hasbro already released this figure, it is now a really bad figure. The upcoming figure is a brand new buck and will come with some nice accessories, like the Other stingers. This is a figure to Spidey fan and New Warrior member but is an absolute most for a Spider-verse display.
Does it need a remake?:
No.
Needs
Below is a gallery of costumes that still need to be made. Click on the image to see chances of it being made. Please note that this is my personal opinion and not fact. If I missed anything, please let me know in the comments below.
Extremely high (has been asked for for a long time)
No Chance
Possible (Possible BAF)
Low Chance
Alternate Universe:
SPIDER-MAN (PETER PARKER, MARVEL PRIME) |  SCARLET SPIDER / SPIDER-MAN / JACKAL (BEN REILLY, MARVEL PRIME)  | SPIDER-WOMAN (JESSICA DREW, MARVEL PRIME) | SPIDER-GIRL / SPIDER-WOMAN (MAY “MAYDAY” PARKER, MC2 UNIVERSE) | SPIDER-MAN 2099 (MIGUEL O’HARA, 2099 UNIVERSE) | SPIDER-MAN NOIR (PETER PARKER, NOIR UNIVERSE) | SPIDER-PUNK (HOBIE BROWN, EARTH-138) | SPIDER-MAN (PETER PARKER, MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE) | Spider-man (Peter Parker, House of M Universe)
Peter's more brutal brother is here! Kaine's NCS is up. General rule of comics is that if a character has a clone (or clones in the case of Spidey), one of them usually turns out to be evil.
