TW, Among Us Vore. Mentions of de@th?
Prey Imposter, Pred Crewmate.
A pair of crewmates. Or at least, everyone's pretty sure they're both crew. No one really knows. But one of them- Black, I think they're called- is the broad one, the one with the muscle, the one who could, say, rip you to shreds. They're the obvious imposter, right? They're practically BUILT for it.
Alas, they've done their med scans. They've completed tasks. It's not them.
So everyone ignores the duo, because it certainly can't be the scrawny, thin, short Cyan, the mechanic who can't sit still.
5 WEEKS.
That's how fast the crew dwindled. They got rid of the Captain. Lime was found strangled. Then Blue died, then dark Green, then Purple, and the rest of them.
Black wakes up to a scream in the middle of the night. Who could it be? Their buddy? It doesn't sound like them.. more like Orange, the last crewmate other than Black.
They manage to figure out where it's coming from. As they enter, Cyan stands above a dead Orange. Tendrils are retracting into Cyan's airpack, their visor slowly returning to normal as they regain control of their body. They stare at the dead body at their feet with detached interest, like they've grown numb to the parasite controlling them.
It's now that Black realizes: Cyan is the Imposter.
Cyan turns, spots Black, and their expression changes to panic. "B-black! I-" Their words fail them as they try to explain, apologize, whatever. They're on the verge of a panic attack, but they can't collapse. Not now. Cyan can only hope that Black understands.
Thankfully, Black does.
They walk across the room and wraps their arms around their newly-found-out friend, a gentle, soothing embrace like an anchor in a stormy sea. Cyan seems to be trying their best to bury their helmet in Black's shoulders, trembling.
"I'm.. so -sorry.." Cyan sobs, muffled. Their friend's hand pats their back, before suddenly, the parasite-infected crewmate feels.. something wet.
Black has opened their visor, red innards and saliva glinting dimly as their maw is revealed. Cyan gazes up at them and those trusting eyes, and then their entire view is constructed by a very humid and very soft gullet. They can barely process what's happening before the sound of a swallow fills their ears and they're indgested.
Cyan goes down relatively easy, without a single struggle. They seem to be relaxed by the warmth and the feeling of being massaged down Black's throat- after all, they're a sucker for warm and soft things.
Black sighs heavily, hands going over their extended gut. They've never had this much to eat before, but it feels good in a way, and if it's for their friend, it's worth it. They manage to drag themselves back to the nearest bunk- Cyan's, of course- and flop down on the bed, feeling the Imp inside shift and nuzzle deeper into the squishy flesh.
A soft breath escapes Black's lips as they pat their stomach, the smallest smile flickering on their lips as they lower their visor again.

What is a firefighting competition
i’m not entirely sure how to describe it, but as an example, our team participated in a series of “tests” that i’ll list below - bunker gear race (the person who dons full gear, including airpacks/hoods/masks, wins) - physical agility in full gear (strength/endurance/speed, the quickest time without running (because you aren’t allowed to run on a fireground) wins) - search and rescue in full gear (again, quickest time wins, but you need to find the victim, which for us was a dummy) - a written exam - and FF skills, which was the same as the exam, except you were physically doing the questions, like tying a pickhead axe to hoist, rolling a hoseline (ours was a singular donut roll) etc.
hope this helped!!!!

Gov. Ron DeSantis axed funding on Thursday for Central Florida projects to stop flooding during the next hurricane, strengthen government cybersecurity defenses, celebrate Black history and tackle gun violence.
The governor’s nearly $511 million veto list included about $15.3 million in projects for Orange, Osceola, Lake and Seminole counties.
DeSantis defended his veto list as showing fiscal restraint in a $116.5 billion budget that makes “historic investments in education, public safety, infrastructure, and the environment.”
Democrats, though, blasted DeSantis’ veto decisions.
“Unfortunately, many good projects that would have relieved Florida’s taxpayers with everything from flood water mitigation to neighborhood resource centers were vetoed because the governor is disconnected from the needs of average Floridians,” said state Rep. Rita Harris, D-Orlando.
Republican state Sen. Joe Gruters also slammed DeSantis, saying in a statement that the governor “took it out on Sarasota County” because Gruters endorsed former President Trump in the 2024 GOP primary.
“It’s mean-spirited acts like this that are defining him here and across the country,” Gruters said, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
The veto list included money for projects to alleviate flooding in the Orlo Vista neighborhood in Orange County, the Midway community in Seminole County, Kissimmee and Osceola County, and Winter Park. The governor axed money to bolster Sanford’s cybersecurity defenses and fund a 1619 Fest and 5K race to celebrate Black history in Orlando.
State Sen. Linda Stewart, D-Orlando, said she was able to secure nearly $30 million in projects for Central Florida, including nearly $15 million for a nursing building at the University of Central Florida, $5 million for a building at Valencia College’s campus in Lake Nona and almost $800,000 for AdventHealth Type 1 diabetes research project.
Stewart said she appreciated those dollars but was disappointed more money wasn’t devoted to flooding. The state keeps a priority list of water projects, and she suspects the governor vetoed items that tried to move up on that list through legislative appropriations.
“We had more money than normal,” Stewart said. “Some of these projects could have easily been added to [address] what our individual cities and counties consider to be emergencies.”
Here is a list of Central Florida projects the governor vetoed.
Orange County Utilities – Orlo Vista Integrated Water Resources Project, flood mitigation for the Orlo Vista neighborhood: $2 million
Osceola County Buenaventura Lakes Drainage Improvements, project to remove 142 homes and businesses from repetitive flood risk: $1.8 million
Oviedo West Mitchell Hammock Water Treatment Facility – Tank Construction, construction of  a new 2.5-million-gallon water tank: $1 million
Seminole County Midway Drainage Improvements, flooding mitigation projects for the Midway community: $1 million
Purpose Built Florida – Lift Orlando, funding to address the root causes of generational poverty in low-income communities: $1 million
Meet Us in the Middle Plaza and 8th Street Docks – City of Clermont: $1 million, construction of plaza and docks for 40 watercraft: $1 million
Central Florida Pilot Plant Project For Phosphogypsum Reclamation, initiative to convert waste into commercial products: $950,000
WUCF-TV, emergency backup transmitter: $625,000

“I can’t do this on my own.” :)))
his saving grace / 1.1k
warnings; claustrophobia
One thing they told anyone who entered the academy was that if you’re claustrophobic, this wasn’t the career for you. Between the inability to breathe for the seconds it takes to attach your regulator to your facepiece, the tight spaces you might find yourself in during any technical rescue, and the risk you take of falling through a floor and being trapped by debris, firefighting holds no place for those who cannot handle it.
It’s something that stuck with Buck even five years after he graduated from the academy. Every time he went into any situation donning his entire PPE, the tiny voice in the back of his head saying that he could run out of air, that those old wooden floors in the house they’re searching cannot withstand the heat and he could go through at any second, that almost muted voice rears its ugly head for just a second. Only a second though, because this is his life. Saving lives while risking his, it’s who he is.
That’s the only thing he’s sure of. When his life fell apart the first time, the only thing he was sure of was that he didn’t know who he was if he wasn’t a firefighter.
Now, as he watches it fall apart a second time, he is certain that this was who he was because he knew now less than ever about who he really is. The only comfort he had as he’d stared down at the old polaroid photo of someone who is supposed to be him, but someone he didn’t know at all, was that even though he had absolutely no idea who he was anymore, he was still a firefighter.
“Firefighter Buckley, do you copy?”
When he’d survived the ladder truck bombing, and a pulmonary embolism, and then a tsunami, he’d started thinking that maybe he was invincible.
But no, he wasn’t invincible.
“Cap! I got the last victim out but I’m trapped.”
“Diaz, Hadley, I need you out of there now, it’s too unstable for extrication!”
He survived a bomb, blood clots, and a tsunami because that wasn’t how he was meant to leave this world. He was meant to go out doing what he did best, being who he was, giving his life in order to make sure someone else got to continue to live theirs. He wasn’t invincible, he was just destined to leave the world alone, surrounded by smoke and flames, but it was peaceful. He gave his life to this job because to him, he was the job.
His PASS alarm was a distant ringing in his ears as he gave up on freeing himself from the heavy beam that trapped him even more. For a moment, it was all peaceful.
Until the low air alarm on his AirPack became louder than the fire around him. It’s peaceful until his pressure gauge shows the numbers 19.1 and decreasing.
Anything below 19.5 is oxygen-deficient. He tries to control his breathing because he knows the faster he breathes, the faster his air depletes. He’s made his peace with dying this way but that same muted voice he’d heard before he ran into this factory came back screaming in the sound of his low air alarm and sent him straight to panicking. Panicking will only make it worse.
His pressure gauge reads 13.5 and he’s dizzy, so dizzy, and so tired. So damn tired.
10.9.
Just as his eyes begin to slip, he hears his saving grace.
Buck made it out of that building because of Eddie and every part of him is telling him he should feel grateful but all Buck feels is mad.
He’s mad because he’d made his peace with leaving this lifetime as he was. A firefighter. He’s mad because every time he’s in a space smaller than his bedroom, he feels trapped. He’s mad because on his first day back since the fire, the second he tightened the straps on his facepiece he panicked.
He’s outraged because he was supposed to die being the only thing he was certain he was and now he doesn’t know how he can continue to be a firefighter when he panics at the sight of an AirPack.
His life falls apart again and he’s back to square one. He’s lost again, more lost than he had been before and he’s scared he won’t be able to find a way back this time.
A key turning the lock to his door is what throws him out of the dark abyss also known as his thoughts.
He looks up from where he’s been staring a hole into his floor and his eyes meet Eddie’s.
Instead of questioning why Buck was curled in on himself against the kitchen island, Eddie sets down the take out food he’d brought with him and sits cross-legged across from him, taking care to not sit too close.
It’s silent for a minute, Eddie just taking his time to visually check him over before he meets his eyes again and smiles. “Hey.”
“Hi,” barely comes out in a whisper. His throat was paper dry, his voice weak from disuse.
After another minute, Eddie carefully reaches forward towards Buck’s hand. His fingertips just barely brush the front of his hand to let him know that his hand is there to hold if that’s what he needs.
And even as he looks away to hide the tears shining in his eyes, he holds out his hand and squeezes lightly the second their hands connect.
They stay like that in silence for what feels like a lifetime before Buck’s shoulders start to shake with barely contained sobs.
“Buck,” Eddie’s voice gets caught in his throat when his eyes meet a broken stare.
“I can’t do this on my own.” He chokes out. “Not again.”
Buck misses the way Eddie’s breath hitches but he feels the grip on his hand tighten.
“I’m here.” He whispers. “I’m not going anywhere. You won’t ever be on your own again, not as long as I’m around. Just like I told you in that factory, we’re a team. We’re going to figure this out together.”
Buck whimpers. “Thank you for saving me.”
“Like I told you, your air is my air.”
“Look at me Buck, it’s okay, we’re gonna get you out of here. Hey, your air is my air, okay?”
In between one second and the next Buck is breathing air again. His eyes open to slits, just enough to see Eddie is the one who gave him air. Eddie helps him breathe again.
He feels safe enough to close his eyes and fade away.
His saving grace.

Stop Fucking Up My Dream Firefighter AUs with Incorrect Research - A Long Rant
As a proud veteran of the fan fiction gang (what up 2011 fanfiction.net, pre porn banned Tumblr and 9 years deep into AO3) and an actual volunteer firefighter
(Im not kidding we had a call to get a cat out a drain and this kid and his friends who had called it in were standing nearby and the kid had the Homunculus symbol from FMAB drawn on his hand and I asked him if he watched the show and he just look at me in awe that a firefighter could even fathom anime.)
I have a SLIGHT problem when wanting to read Firefighter AUs. The writers tend to get the vibe right, the steamy romance, the unhygienic sex in the fire engines, etcetera. But the basic info is almost always jarringly wrong, and its sort of painful to read through.
So here is a incredibly basic breakdown of what you need to know when writing a Firefighter AU.
Paid vs Volunteer Company
In America, Canada, and most suburban and rural areas, depending on how wealthy your town is, are volunteer companies. Local families and people who have been serving for generations dedicate their time and lives to serve their community. They’re small, so they might have old but well cared for rigs (fire truck, engine, rigs are just easier to call them). Theres usually one Chief, an Assistant Chief, 2 Captains, 2 Lieutenants, and the firefighters underneath them. They work in conjunction with the surrounding companies when responding to a call.
Depending on how wealthy the town is, they might have paid or combination companies. My town was rich enough to fully staff 30 stations, but allowed volunteers to run with them as well.
Major and even minor cities, are mainly paid companies. Theres just too many people in small spaces and incidents tend to multiply in cities. The command structure is similar to the volunteer company, however they don’t have individual chiefs, they have 1 Battalion Chief that responds for the whole city, like for a big structure fire they would assume command from the commanding officer on scene.
Getting Dispatched
In every county, city, province, there is a small office building with lovely people called the Dispatch Center. People call the country’s emergency number (North America - 911), dispatch takes your information, and says over county radio
The box number (like say its Company 12, so Box 12-3 would be the north side of town, 12-7 would be the south, 12-10 would be the river, or something like that)
The Incident: Most common but not limited to:
 Possible or Working Structure Fire,
Fire Investigation,
Fire Alarm (most common and so annoying at 3 AM)
Vehicle Fire (classified by size, like car, van, tractor trailer)
Traffic Accident (Accident w/ injuries, Multi Car pileup, Rollover, Accident with entrapment (stuck but not hurt), Accident with confinement (literally crushed in with the car)
Less exciting ones like Gas Leaks, Carbon Monoxide Alarms, Electrical Hazards, Cats stuck in trees
Medical calls - depending on the company, but mostly Cardiac Arrests, Stroke, Lift Assists (helping old people who fall in their tubs), possible pregnancies?
The most common are fire alarms. Pain in the butts and are usually nothing, but you always have to be prepared for something to go wrong. For some reason Structure Fires and Cardiac Arrests come in batches, so like 2 weeks of like nonstop action, then like a month of boring fire alarms.
The basic rigs are
Engine (water suppression, 500-gallon tank)
Rescue (Rapid Intervention, vehicle accidents and technical rescue)
Ladder (single 90'-110' ladder),
Tower (Ladder with bucket at the end)
Some cities allow combinations such as a Quint, a ladder truck with a tank in it. Most of the time, for most incidents, its 1 Engine and 1 Rescue or Truck or Ladder. The Engine is the constant. For any incident you may write, there should be more engines than anything else, but for a basic fire, 3 engines, 2 Ladder or Truck, and 2 Rescues are good.
For accidents, usually 1 Engine and a Rescue
What to Wear?
All of your gear is in your locker in the Apparatus Bay, in lockers with your name on them. Gear is heavy, about 30 lbs. This is the order they go on, should be dressed and zipped and on the rig in less than a minute and a half (yes we’re tested on that)
1. Boots and Bunker Pants
Your bunker pants are tucked into your boots and they have grips, so tug them on and get your pants up over whatever clothes you have underneath. Suspenders on, though some people don’t use them.
2. Nomex Hood
It looks like a dark colored balaclava, but its soft, stretchy, and thick material, it goes over your head and then pushed back off so it sits around your neck. VERY IMPORTANT, WILL KEEP YOU FROM GETTING BURNED TOO BAD.
3. Jacket
Swing it up and over your shoulders and get your hands into the wristlets. Fire gloves will either be in the pockets or strapped to the front (I perfer strapped its easier to grab and put on)
4. Helmet
This is where OP can get creative because almost all helmets are very personalized, whether with cameras or flashlights or stickers or special handmade leather fronts with the Company number and firefighter name. (Mine has a chinese idiom that translates to water and fire have no mercy, cause im half Chinese)
Going on the Call
So to wrap up this very long post, going on each call is always different. No two are the same. The fire alarms are boring and tedious. The structure fires are fun and exciting and adrenaline rush, but just be aware that there is an entire room on fire and its 1400F degrees and its just you and a hose and you breathing heavily through your airpack. Its scary but walking out of it after is such an invigorating feeling. Your camaraderie with your crew will never be stronger than in that moment. Vehicle accidents are the same, just you and the spreaders (Jaws of Life), and praying that the patient inside is still breathing and conscious. Lastly, for medical calls, never underestimate the capacity of human grief. Cardiac arrests almost never seem to work. Its always very sobering to leave, but you did what you could.
In the end, firefighters are human. We are not epic heros like people like to believe. We enjoy what we do, helping others. We cherish the time we have.
THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY RANT IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO ASK ANYTIME ANYTHING

Time to rebuild the master cylinder and airpack. The brakes lock up when the truck builds air pressure and don't disengage until you bleed the air from the tanks
