#TBT to playing @gatheringofthevibes in the early 2000’s with my side project “All Stripped Down” that I formed with @deepbananablackout guitarist @fuzz_sangiovanni. I was as self conscious of my lanky frame then as I am now, but doing that project taught me that it doesn’t matter. If people are into you because of how you look, you’re screwed anyway. God I hope my children can internalize that message. . . The other night an old friend was talking to me about my career and suggested that it must be hard because I was part of a wave that started cresting more than 15 years ago. I explained to him that yes, I am building on the things I’ve learned from previous experience, but that he was mistaken in thinking of me as re-hashing anything. The work is better than it has ever been, and as grateful as I am for all that came before, it’s the future that gets me out of bed every morning.
