Storytelling Secret Saturday Sunday
@havenroyals tagged me in a super cute post to share some juicy story-related secrets. So, for anyone interested, here are some A Devil Between Us lore straight from my brain:
(side note, I will finish the story if it's the last thing I do! There's literally only the ending left and I hate the idea of pouring years into it only to leave it unfinished!)
I put this all under a cut as it got way lengthier than I anticipated! Considering how friggin long the story is I tried to keep it fairly brief (I failed but anyway)
Tillie was supposed to get more screen time, mostly in Prodigal Daughter (ch.4). She hasn't really been seen much since her romance/marriage to Airdan. Nothing overly exciting, but a few cut scenes with Sky but mainly Kyra (we'll get further into that). Also cut was at least one scene showing Tillie and Airdan in wedded bliss. There will be a cute scene with them in the epilogue though!
Zander was also supposed to get wayyy more backstory, but I ended up cutting a lot with him, for the sake of time/trying to stay focused on the main storyline, especially as it was nearing the end. In the first couple chapters, there are several references to his difficult childhood, complicated family dynamics and the resulting impact on his mental health etc. There's a scene in Devotion (ch.3) where we see him cutting while dealing with the aftermath of Aida disappearing/skipping town. At this point in the story he has not-so-secret feelings for her and relapses as a result of this loss. I don't think there are any other mentions of this after Tillie finds out and. I also cut pretty much everything in relation to his relationship with Kyra (again will get into this more), other than they're together and very happy. Them getting together wasn't even a planned thing, but it was a good decision because they are cute AF together. There will also be a sweet epilogue scene with them at least. One last point, a while back I did a Faelern family tree post, I'm thinking I'll do one for Zander for context at the very least.
Amazing, awesome, gorgeous Kyra. To say I did her dirty is an understatement. She initially appeared as Aida's doctor in Tender Prey (ch.2). I had so many plans to flesh her out but, like many Tillie and Zander scenes (she was supposed to be properly introduced in Devotion (ch.3) as Tillie's acquaintance turned friend) they were cut purely in the interest of time/focus. She's a great character and I love her so much but I definitely fumbled her. It sticks out to me even more considering she's the only black character (will touch on this a little more). I don't even think I mentioned the fact that in her spare time she writes smutty novels under a pen name 😭 she will get a moment to shine and a sweet epilogue post but still. I'm so sorry Kyra!
Sky was always meant to be bisexual. Another thing I meant to touch on a bit but ended up on the cutting room floor, so to speak. I have regrets.
I definitely wish I did better with representation. I did my best with my knowledge at the time of starting the story/introducing the characters, but as a learning, growing individual there are things I wish I did a better job with now. Namely Kyra being cast aside as a minor character, definitely not intentional but I have big regrets here (not because of her race obviously but I hate the thought of a successful, intelligent black woman not being given enough screen time as she's so awesome and was meant to be seen a lot more, especially considering she's the only black character). Not to say I didn't try to include a variety of ethnicities/cultures in the story (Sky and Diego are both Latinx, Airdan is of Persian descent, Faelern is half Lakota though I think when I made him in CAS in 2014 I based his features on those of Cree peoples). But like Kole was meant to have Asian ancestry (where???) so I definitely did him dirty. During one of his more recent makeovers I did give him a new eye overlay but it definitely doesn't fix this glaring issue. Anyway, at the very least I can say I've learned a lot and can identify ways to do better in this area. Growth is good.
Speaking of Kole, it's very obviously alluded to the fact that he and Aida start sleeping together after Jace ends his relationship with her. I was gonna include a NSFW scene but cut it because it was too depressing. It's already blatant that she's in a very destructive downward spiral at this point.
Finally, I've been back and forth on this over the years but I decided I do not regret the copious amount of graphic sex/violence featured throughout the story. When I was first putting it together in 2015 simblr stories were the equivalent of the Wild West, the large amount of stuff I distinctly remember being written about (often with not a trigger warning in sight) would probably not fly today (I can think of two off the top of my head that included assaults on minors that even I found very disturbing). I definitely noticed a shift after the Great Titty Ban of 2018. I totally get being sensitive regarding triggers/trigger warnings and ensuring that minors aren't exposed to shit they shouldn't be. That being said, I do think there's a balance. For me personally, my blog is intended for adult audiences and is labeled as such. And, like other media that features graphic/disturbing elements, I think it moreso depends on how things are handled. While the story features some very heavy/disturbing topics (kidnapping, murder, sexual assault etc etc), in retrospect I think I did a decent job of being deliberate with these elements. Each dark/disturbing scene is intended to be just that, and treated with appropriate gravity. While I recognize that this is not everyone's cup of tea, I have no regrets. As for the non-disturbing sex scenes, what can I say, I love a bit of smut lol.
If you made it to this point, congratulations (and thank you for reading!)

How well and how much do we fulfil the rights and responsibilities with our family members and others?
In this dunya, it’s easy to take advantage of others, to take people’s rights, to abuse someone’s trust, to steal and take someone else’s credit and then getting away scot-free. For the oppressed, justice and victory are rarely on their side in this dunya.
But in the akhirah, every single matter will return to its rightful place. Allah says:
🌺 ❛Then, when the Trumpet is blown [on the Day of Judgement], there will be no kinship among them that Day, nor will they ask of one another.❜ 【Surah al-Mu’minun 23:101】
Imam Ibn Kathir rahimahullah wrote that this aayah means no relative will ask about the welfare of another relative, even if he sees his most beloved relative carrying a heavy burden. On the Day of Judgment, we will be so distressed and distraught with our own welfare, that we do not have the capacity to care about anyone else’s — even if that person was the most dearest to us in the dunya. In another aayah, Allah says:
🌺 ❛That Day a man shall flee from his brother. And from his mother and his father. And from his wife and his children.❜ 【Surah ‘Abasa 80:34-36】
In regard to this aayah, Ibn Mas’ud radi Allahu ‘anhu said: ❛On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will gather the first and the last [of jinn and mankind], then a voice will call out:
🌿 “Whoever is owed something by another, let him come forth and take it.”
And a man will rejoice if he is owed something, or had been mistreated by his father, or child, or wife — even if it is little.❜ 【Tafseer Ibn Kathir】
On the Day of Judgement where everyone is desperate to save their own selves, the oppressed will claim for every single injustice, every single mistreatment, every little hurt the oppressors inflicted upon them in the dunya — even if the ones who inflicted those pain were some of the most beloved people in their lives. So what more if the oppressors were merely acquaintances, strangers on the internet, or the most haughtiest tyrants the world has ever known?
So please be careful on how we treat others. Be vigilant on how we interact in reality, and how we behave online. What we unlawfully take from someone (both the tangible and intangible things) in this dunya is not worth a single khayr in the akhirah.
May Allah protect us from being oppressed, and from oppressing others.
Your sister in Deen, Aida Msr ©

What the hell is going on here in this production of "Heart of a Dog", where Sharikov and Vasnetsova first get acquainted???
In my memory (I have watched many productions of different theaters), only in this production this episode was sexualized.
Something similar to a "It's A Dangerous game". I feel very strange and mixed emotions here, but God,... these "marriage dances" by Sharikov definitely turn me on, I won't lie...
Surprisingly, the backing track of the romance "Celeste Aida" plays all the time (which is very ironic in the context of this scene), and Sharikov tells Vasnetsova the following words from the book (apparently showing thereby how much Sharikov has become a human, that he has turned into another brazen lover):
#heart of a dog#mikhail bulgakov#sharikov#polygraph polygraphovich sharikov#vasnetsova#theatrical production

[taps mic] is everybody here? everyone still manning their tumblr blogs after the twitter roller coaster of the past couple of months? cool
so! 2022, huh? it's not new year's eve without one of my soppy, navelgazing year-in-review posts. if you're reading this, you survived. as an acquaintance of mine put it, "i hope 2023 is the year it all pays off for you."
if i seem unusually optimistic about it, it's because this year, against the odds, things started looking up. i had no idea when i stepped out last december 31st and listened to the neighbors' firecrackers what i was in for. i didn't know that when obsidian emailed me on a january afternoon about "a quick follow-up meeting," it would be their offer call. i didn't know what kind people i'd meet there, or the lengths they'd go to to make me feel like a respected peer instead of a gatecrashing fan. i knew least of all how it would affect my state of mind: that i'd finally feel a sense of accomplishment and dignity. i look ahead and i see a viable future for myself. i've been paid to write for years, but now i can support myself with it. i think about the weight that takes off my mother. i remember staying up until 4 A.M., wondering how i'd do the only thing i ever wanted to do. it was a big, dark ocean then. it's still an ocean now, but i've got a boat, a crew, and a lantern. it's hard to overstate what that does to you.
the downside is, there are only 24 hours in a day, and your time feels very different when you're on the clock for eight of them. i knew it'd be a change, and it's gone more smoothly than i thought it would, but i just can't churn unpaid stuff out the way i did years ago. projects that would've taken a long time in college have become interminable now. you wouldn't believe how much half-finished art i have sitting around. it's not lost on me that this is just ordinary adulthood, and even i had to get around to it at some point. laugh all you want! seriously, i probably deserve it, and it's hard enough to find things to laugh about in this decade.
part of me misses that pillowy freelance lifestyle of cramming my paid work into the mornings, then doing fun projects all day. then i remember i was numbing the ache of not having a career that i now have, and the superficial sense of leisure came with a heavy price. it wasn't worth three cents a word and almost no creative input. it wasn't worth being on medi-cal and having my mother keep me afloat. it certainly wasn't worth watching my friends work themselves half to death because they weren't privileged enough to have that support network. i think we all agree that we should have a better world, that artists should be able to just make art, that contractors aren't paid enough. [except for relic, they were very generous, i loved them.] in the meantime, we have to make it through with what we have, and figure out how to look after each other as best we're able to.
i think, when people gain a measure of success in life, they want to fantasize that they did it all by themselves. that's ridiculous. i wouldn't be writing any of this without the people who hyped up my wild fanfic ideas or bought dangerous crowns. i'd never have written anniversary without the other longsummer nights authors building a vivid world for hercule and aida to live in. i'll never forget the colleagues and the industry doors they helped me through, and, you know, i'm not much now, but i hope i can pass that on. even if you only have a little power, you have to use it for good, right? otherwise, that's how you get a chandelier dropped on you.
seriously, though, read anniversary. i want to talk about it more. it's short, i swear!

WARRRGGHH THE RYOKAN............................
wow, I guess Tsukasa truly is a fakie fake kitty! He's the only one who has normal human ears...
I'm so used to kemonimi having 4 ears that I didn't think Aida would make it a distinct visual consistency that the 'real' cats only have the 2. Its kinda crazy to see Hanako and Nene with No Ears on the sides...
more subtle on someone with a hairstyle like Sakura, but really glaring on Hanako, haha. He feels sorta shaved down...
Little Tsukasa is just playing pretend.... too cute... you'll still play with a feather toy like any kitten, huh...? nya nya nya....
I'm glad you're safe sweetie.... a normal lad (sortof)!!! INTACT!!
I wasn't sure how 'canon' this image exactly was-- their designs shifted a lot since here afterall (clothes are different, lacking matching bells, Hanako's missing his tail-tip color, Tsukasa's missing a tail at all, lacking his fanciful shimenawa thing etc)....
his profile specifies that he likes "narrow and dark spaces"...
his title seems to be a sorta pun on room-service and the word for tortishell cat ('sabi' instead of 'sabisu'?) ? (at least, I saw JP accounts talking about sabineko in conjunction with his title...) ? I'm glad he's generally useless and does what he wants... I'm sure thats the life Hanako wants for you!! But, a-ah, it's increasing my fractal to have Tsukasa essentially enjoy a broomcloset.... like a small enclosed space... guess he got used to whatever the circus put him through.... and Hanako lets him do as he pleases ... ah, it's so cute... in canon, I always wonder why he is in that scary, derelict room, when he has access to the greater Broadcast Room and even rogue spaces like the teaparty zone. Maybe Tsukasa's personal creature comforts are a scary dark hovel. Makes you worry a little about his life, doesn't it...
Nene having come here to get meat but just getting harassed by her thirsty coworker, extremely funny.
Hanako liking silver vine.................... can I see it, AidaIro.... can I see Hanako drooling and rolling around on the floor under the effects of silver vine ... please ... I would like to see it. What an indulgent pleasures guy... Hanako seems so carefree. And of course we have to mention he's here to eat someone........
It's fascinating Sakura is the true manager and comes from a long line of people set to run it :o some neat implications there... it follows my general ideas of her for canon (someone trapped in her position by some tradition...) so I'm intriiigued.....
I was so like, "how do we go from running away from the circus to founding a ryokan?" but, just stumbling across an extant ryokan makes plenty of sense!!!
I really love the general vibes of people suffering in life, or hating their circumstances, etc, winding up here... I like Mitsuba and Aoi both just hating their jobs... COME TO THE RYOKAN!!
rah... I don't have the braincells to say more... I just love this all so much.... what a wonderful AU... I never imagined we'd get a whole MAP of the FACILITY!!!! And I didn't imagine it was SO sprawling and wondrous, we can do anything here... TT___TT its too much to think about the twins spending years here, bathing in hot steaming waters and playing kitty together, getting acquainted with silver vine.... its also too much to think about how disgusting Hanako's harassment of Nene would be in such close proximity to bathing accommodations and so much freedom to run about the place without a buncha authority figures.......... its gotta be rough, eh girl.... good luck lol.
I feel like Tsuchigomori is just a big spider in a cave somewhere, lol...

Diary of a Junebug
Creating potions, admiring plum blossoms, and learning how to let go of past regrets
I’m back in Tigerfang to meet up with Sara, Alexi, Kiana, and Lumine to experiment with potions and enjoy the plum blossoms in bloom. I wouldn’t say I’m an expert in potions, but I guess it’s safe to say that I picked up a lot of knowledge from quite a few friends who are.
While I’m aware that Sara and Lumine know quite a bit about potions and decoctions, it’s news to me that Alexi and Kiana have an interest in that. Alexi, especially, I wouldn’t have expected her to be well acquainted with Lumine, but it turns out they became acquainted online for years now. However, it wasn’t until Alexi began traveling more did they start becoming good friends.
In fact, Alexi was at a convention in Fablerealm, which is about an hour from Tigerfang, and since she had some free time, she decided to stick around. She’s been super busy with work and personal life stuff, so she could use a break before getting back into the grind.
Turns out Emma was there too, though she couldn’t stay for long. Since she and Alexi are part of Pillars of Stone and Flame, it’s natural that the latest interview with some of the devs came up. We all play the game as it’s been popular since its launch a couple years ago and are still invested in the story. The interview isn’t in English, but people have translated what they said.
To be honest, I’m not too interested in sitting through the whole thing as others have said there’s nothing really new, but I looked into that part people were talking about, and I agree it came across as rude and unprofessional. Basically, that dev made a comment along the lines about how players who don’t care too much about the story should just drop the game at this point because they don’t deserve to be part of the community, in a snobby tone. Yeah, I get why those kinds of players are annoying, especially since this is a story driven game, but that tone just came across as stuck up, even if said as a joke. And this is coming from someone who is invested in the story.
And if that sounds bad when taken out of context, it’s worse when you see the actual clip. Like, I get the vibe that the other devs sitting next to her were kinda annoyed with her attitude throughout the video. The whole thing was so ridiculous that it kinda became a meme. I mean, what that dev said would be considered cringe - like, it’s not that deep, bro, kind of thing. Just because you are more invested in the lore than most, that doesn’t make you the superior one. That said, I hope she isn’t getting too much flack for it, but her whole “I’m better than you because I’m x,” or something, isn’t doing her any favors.
And again, she just comes across as a gatekeeping snob in general, which is what Alexi and Kiana said as they watched the whole thing. The rest of the interview, like everyone said, wasn’t anything new, so if it wasn’t for that dev, no one would’ve cared too much about it. Kiana went as far to say that she reminded her of a certain someone who recently caused trouble not too long ago.
That certain someone is part of the reason why Lumine and Sara are making potions. It’s for a fundraiser for the Magnolia Clinic, which is run by Aida Quincy, Kiana’s distant cousin and a good friend of Tony’s. The clinic isn’t in need of funds, but they thought it would be a good way to teach people who are interested the basics of potion making as well as help the clinic out. In other words, a two birds with one stone kind of thing.
Basically, the connection between potion making and the Magnolia Clinic has to do with a couple of the patients, Beryl and Anna, both who are experts in potions. Anna was actually an instructor for a time, and was said to be one of the best. Unfortunately, despite her achievements, her personal problems eventually overshadowed her reputation to the point that she was actively endangering herself and didn’t care.
Anna, like many of the patients at the clinic, are undergoing treatment for alcoholism. Aida and her husband Spence started the clinic after their niece, Maggie, a teenage alcoholic, committed suicide after getting involved in a drunk driving accident that killed her friend. That certain someone Kiana compared that dev to happens to be Maggie’s mother, Spence’s sister.
Ever since Anna and Beryl reached out to Tony, Aida, and Kiana about starting an online introduction to potions course, Britt has been pretty much harassing all of them. To put it simply, she’s one of those people who thinks that if you make a mistake, no matter how big or small, you’re irredeemable.
Like, Anna and Beryl admit that they made some poor choices, but that doesn’t make them monsters, even if it was their fault. Sure, some things can’t really be forgiven, but what’s the point in trying to learn from your mistakes and becoming a better person if all your efforts get shot down? It’s like, why don’t you do something about it? But whenever you try, they’re like, no don’t do that, you’ve already fucked up once, what makes you think the same won’t happen again?
And that’s not the only issue I have with Britt. The way I see it, she tends to suffer from a black and white mindset, which is just not the way to go, in my opinion. Basically, to her, there’s two kinds of people. Person A is an uwu they’re poor, defenseless, can do no wrong, and need to be protected from the evil big bad because they’re helpless. Also, they aren’t allowed to speak for themselves or have their own opinions if they don’t line up with mine.
Then there’s person B, the useless and lazy one who’s only good for doing things for everyone else or else they’ll just sit there and be a bum. They too aren’t allowed to have different opinions because they’re too stupid to understand anything.
And I’m just like, how to you get anything done if that’s how you see other people? Maggie was Person A, in terms of Britt ignoring her daughter’s cries for help, especially after she confided to Spence and Aida that she needed help since her mother won’t listen. Then most people - Kiana, Lumine, Tony, Spence, and Aida, probably me as well - fall into Person B.
Overall, I think a big part of it is power and agency. Some people like having power over others, so they can easily swoop right in and take control of the situation. And when they inevitably lose control, they place the blame on whatever’s convenient so they don’t have to take responsibility.
Aida, Spence, and Tony, I think, tried their best to help Maggie. Obviously, the situation was complicated - Maggie, it seems, didn’t have a happy home life, which was why she resorted to drinking at a young age. I don’t blame Aida and Spence for feeling guilty, though at the same time, it was mostly out of their hands.
Maggie was in denial that she had a problem at first, but that was probably more her parents than anything. Her aunt and uncle were unaware that she had a drinking problem until Britt called Spence and Tony up in order to clear her of any criminal charges she might end up having in the accident that killed her friend. An investigation proved that Maggie wasn’t driving, so she was cleared, but that didn’t do too much for her.
As for Britt and her husband, they denied that their daughter needed help, and even went as far to prevent Maggie from contacting her aunt and uncle. And then she killed herself, probably out of hopelessness. Since then, Britt and her husband have been harassing Spence, Aida, Tony, and Kiana on and off over the years.
Kiana had suggested to Spence that he put a restraining order against Britt after a couple of incidents - nothing too serious, just safety concerns because he and Aida have a toddler - but he probably wants to leave that as a last resort. As far as I know, Britt and her husband are the only vocal opponents of the Magnolia Clinic, because, in their words, there’s no point in helping people like them because they don’t deserve it.
Well, if more people had that kind of mentality, most of us wouldn’t be here today, wouldn’t we? Lumine has said many times that she owes it to Tony and his family because she would be dead if they hadn’t taken her in, and she’s not exaggerating. She had been living on the streets as far as she could remember, and she did what she could to survive, even if it meant making poor choices - not that she had much of a say in that anyway.
Then she had the good fortune of wandering into Tigerfang while on the run after witnessing a robbery and murder. Of course, her troubles caught up with her, and she was picked up for an unrelated charge for stealing. The PI who was chasing after her told everyone that she was a good-for-nothing bum who was rotten from the start. However, Tony and Spence didn’t agree. What they saw was a troubled teenager who fell into a bad crowd because of unfair life circumstances.
Obviously, Lumine’s a success story - best possible outcome all around. But it wasn’t easy and she really had to work at it to clean up her act. She’s no saint, and she definitely has more bad days than she’d like to admit, but she refuses to give up, to give into the despair. Not everyone has the opportunity to change their ways like she did, so it’s not something she takes for granted. Just because she’s been clean and sober for years doesn’t mean that her past traumas are gone for good. They still affect her, and it’ll be a lifelong battle that she’ll have to learn to live with.
I think Lumine and Estella are very similar in a lot of ways, especially with how they tend to be vilified by some people because of their pasts. Some people are quick to write them off as damaged good, which I think is unfair and just mean. Like, it’s not their fault that they had shitty upbringings. And obviously, they clearly learned from their mistakes and take full responsibility, which is another big hurdle that’s not easy to deal with.
I mean, they don’t have to forgive them, but at least let them live their lives. Again, what’s the point of not letting someone do anything at all just because they fucked up. Isn’t it enough that they realized where they went wrong and are trying to change that? What do you expect them to do? Just curl up and die? I mean, maybe, but still…
Kiana’s another success story too as she managed to get away from her past - well, not completely, but she’s free for the most part. Basically, she grew up in a children’s home and was taken in by a shady organization that trained her in many things, mainly assassinations. The organization’s still there, but last she heard, it’s become weak and scattered, so the chances of anyone linking her with it are pretty slim, especially since it’s been over 10 years since she left.
Basically, she was taught to see herself as disposable and that what she was doing was for the greater good. As someone with a strong sense of justice, she truly believed that she was making the world a better place. Whether she did more harm than good or vice versa is still up for debate, and we’ll probably never really know the answer. Still, even though she’s long moved on, she says questions like this often keep her up at night.
In short, what happened, she said, was that she met someone who was kinda part of the organization - on probation, was the best she could describe it - and she opened her eyes to the world around her. That friend was highly skilled with weapons, but she refused to kill, which made the higher ups angry. Kiana said she wasn’t like the other girls she grew up with, mainly because she had a life outside of being a child soldier.
When Kiana got in trouble for disobeying orders, she was sent to that girl as a punishment, except it wound up having the opposite effect. Why they consider that punishment, she’s long given up trying to figure out their line of thinking. After her friend died, she realized that she couldn’t keep living like this, so she cut her ties and never looked back.
Starting over from scratch is never easy, probably even more so if you’re like Kiana. She was lucky to have help from people who have successfully left the organization. Because there isn’t much to her past, and she was a minor with hardly a paper trail - mainly because they made it intentional in terms of being easily disposable if she gets killed - it was kinda easy for her to forge a new identity without dealing with too many legal hassles. And it was even luckier that she found out that she had living family, a distant relative who also wanted to know more about her family.
In fact, her name, Kiana, is actually a nickname her friend started calling her. Her full name’s Takina, and her friend shortened it to Kina. However, other people mistook it for Kiana instead, so that ended up sticking. Unfortunately, even now, there’s still some confusion when trying to track her down as there’s still those who know her as Takina while pretty much everyone here only know her as Kiana. It’s kinda similar with Kaiji’s last name as he’s still referred to as Mikoshi instead of his married and legal name, Yashiro, so there’s some confusion there too. And yes, she had a recent encounter with someone trying to contact her and having trouble.
That said, I have a lot of respect for people like Lumine and Kiana. Again, they’ve had it rough and they have a lot of regrets, but they’ve learned to live with it. They had to learn the hard way and hit beyond rock bottom before realizing that they couldn’t just keep on living like that. So they pulled themselves up - clawed is probably much more accurate. It’s not easy, and it’s a constant uphill battle - but I think they’re doing a pretty good job.
As for Anna and Beryl, they’re nice people who had a lot of unlucky breaks. You can say that a lot of people at Magnolia suffer the same fate. But the fact that they’re here at the clinic means that they’re trying to turn things around. Like Anna said, she’s sick and tired of being sick and tired.
People make mistakes - some more than others - and we make bad choices - again, some worse than others - it’s just a fact of life. You can’t stop misfortune, pain, or suffering, nor should you let it get to your head. And whether you did everything right or wrong, it shouldn’t be a debate on whether or not you deserve a chance to turn things around.
I can’t save everybody, but if I see someone struggling in the water, how can I ignore their cries for help? Even if they are a shitty, terrible person, if they are trying to change their ways, who am I to ignore their efforts and try to cut them down? So maybe forgiveness isn’t an option, but you also aren’t obligated to stick around either. As long as they’re not causing more harm, then just let them be.

Hello there, Miss Daaé !!
I just wanted to give you a warm welcome to The Tumbler !! The habit of blogging is quite fun, but can also be quite hectic in my experience. So if you ever need anything you can let me know and I can … possibly help !!
Anywho, to leave you with a question … Oh, I know !! What is your favorite thing to perform? Any particular song, dance, genre, or whatever you find most compelling ?? That’s all, lovely to make your acquaintance ^_^
🍓 Lucy Westenra, @wildlucywesternra
Thank you ! I’ve had quite a warm welcome so far, and everyone seems nice. Meg was the one who suggested I use this to connect with people.
To answer your question, «Voi che sapete» from Figaro always holds a special place in my heart — it’s a beautiful heartfelt aria, and Cherubino is such a fun character to play. Of course, that was back when I only played minor breeches roles. And pretending to be in love with Carlotta as the Countess was rather difficult. «Je veux vivre» from Roméo et Juliette is another personal favourite. My favourite role to play at the moment, though, is Aida. Her tragedy hits a little close to home, and the final scene between her and Radames still makes me cry.
As for dances, I can’t say I enjoy any of them. I have always been a terrible dancer, despite years in the corps de ballet.
Thanks again for the question ! ♡

How well and how much do we fulfil the rights and responsibilities with our family members and other people?
In this dunya, it’s easy to take advantage of others, to take people’s rights, to steal, to slander someone, to abuse someone’s trust, and then getting away scot-free. For the oppressed, justice and victory are rarely on their side in this dunya.
But in the akhirah, every single matter will return to its rightful place. Allah says:
🌸 ❛Then, when the Trumpet is blown [on the Day of Judgement], there will be no kinship among them that Day, nor will they ask of one another.❜ 【Surah al-Mu’minun 23:101】
Imam Ibn Kathir rahimahullah wrote that this aayah means no relative will ask about the welfare of another relative, even if he sees his friend carrying a heavy burden, even if he was the most beloved to him. On the Day of Judgment, we will be so distressed and distraught with our own welfare, that we do not have the capacity to care about anyone else's — even if that person was the most dearest to us in the dunya. In another aayah, Allah says:
🌸 ❛That Day a man shall flee from his brother.
On the Day of Judgement where everyone is desperate to save their own selves, the oppressed will claim for every single injustice, every single mistreatment, every little fault and hurt that the oppressors inflicted upon them in the dunya — even if the ones who inflicted those pain were some of the most beloved people in their lives. So what more if the oppressors were merely acquaintances, strangers on the social media, or the most haughtiest tyrants the world has ever known?
So please be careful on how we treat others. Be vigilant on how we interact in reality, and how we behave online. What we unlawfully take from someone in this dunya is not worth a single khayr in the akhirah.
May Allah protect us from being oppressed, and from oppressing others. May Allah have rahmah on our ummah.
Your sister in Deen, Aida Msr ©

Late Spring Chapter 7
We joined up with Natsuki and the others and a group of guys and girls was ready.
On Narumi’s suggestion, we took a picture together with the whole group posing.
Narumi Sena: Guys, I’ll be taking the pictureー! Readyー
Narumi Sena: Yup, and it’s done! Thanks guys!
Serizawa Haruki: Send it to me later. Uh, Natsuki... Are you eating again?
Enomoto Natsuki: Yup! And it’s super yummyー!
Serizawa Haruki: Your appetite doesn’t change...
Mochizuki Souta: Weren’t you eating a matcha parfait just an hour ago...
Serizawa Haruki:That girl’s personality are the same as before, right Yuu?
Setoguchi Yuu: (It should be... like that.)
Serizawa Haruki: Nn. Yuu, what’s wrong?
Setoguchi Yuu: Ah, aah... Nothing.
Serizawa Haruki: Why... Is it because you’re nervous that the girls are dolling themselves up in kimonos?
Setoguchi Yuu: ...! Of course.
Serizawa Haruki: Rightー! Even though you’re confessed to regularly, you’ll express some interest in this, huh!
I became embarrassed from replying to Haruki in a fluster and could feel my temperature steadily rising.
To dodge the question, I drank the red bean soup that the employee brought at a coincidental time in one gulp.
In the seat next to me, Natsuki stared as she smiled wryly for some reason.
Enomoto Natsuki: Geez, since it’s you, you can eat hurriedly but you have azuki beans on your mouth!
Natsuki took a paper napkin with her left hand from the right sleeve of her kimono and wiped my mouth.
Enomoto Kotarou: Geez, and you’re a high schooler too, how embarrassing.
Setoguchi Yuu: ...!
Natsuki’s fingers barely brushed my lips. The slightly calm beating of my heat quickened again.
Enomoto Natsuki: Nn, Yuu, why’s your face red?
Natsuki touched my forehead with her right hand and measured my temperature.
Enomoto Natsuki: You don’t... seem to have a fever.
Enomoto Natsuki: Huhー? Could it be... that you’re just flustered... by me?
Setoguchi Yuu: Huuh? ‘Course not!
Enomoto Natsuki: Geez, I was just joking. You didn’t have to deny it that bluntly!
Mochizuki Souta: Urm~ Sir and Madam, I am so sorry for interrupting your flirting but..
Natsuki & Yuu: We’re not flirting at all!!
Mochizuki Souta: Hahaha, that was a joke!
Acting as a helping hand, Mochita quietly asked 『What do you think about negotiating with Natsuki and the others to appear in our film?』
Setoguchi Yuu: (Well, it’s true... We’re acquaintances and there’re flowers.)
With a small nod to Haruki, Mochita went to talk to the girls.
Mochizuki Souta: We were actually going around Kyoto’s attractions and shooting a coming-of-age film with parallel story lines about youths.
Serizawa Haruki: I was thinking about making a short film with everyone from Sakuragaoka High in a Kyoto landscape.
Enomoto Natsuki: Even in this school trip, you’re only thinking about films. Haruki has and will always be a film idiotー
Serizawa Haruki: Shut up!
Aida Miou: Fufufu, but that’s kind of a Haruki-kun and the rest thing to do
Mochizuki Souta: If we get a prize in this student filming competition, our filming research club will be promoted to a club!
Serizawa Haruki: ...And with that, we’ve got something to ask of you.
Serizawa Haruki: To open up the future, will you please cooperate with us?
Serizawa Haruki: I would like it if you spared some time from your enjoyment of the school trip to let me film you.
Serizawa Haruki: The film is my motive but there will definitely be memories of the school trip left so...
Serizawa Haruki: And I think it’ll be a nice memento for everyone.
Serizawa Haruki: Please! When we were first-years, I filmed Narumi and Miou a little, right?
Serizawa Haruki: The way you are is fine! The acting is really at the bare minimum, being natural is fine!
Mochizuki Souta: I’ll request it of you too! Here, Yuu and Midori, you too Ayase, ask it of them too!
With Mochita’s encouragement, for some reason, Midori and Ayase too, we were facing the girls’ group, putting our palms together.
Aida Miou: ...If it was as good at that time, I’ll... I think I can cooperate.
Serizawa Haruki: Really, Miou!
Aida Miou: Well at that time, it was ok whether or not I had acting ability or not...
Narumi Sena: We’re wearing kimonos so you better help us film how cute we are♪
Natsuki was taking the last bite of the red bean soup. With her mouth full, she stood up with enthusiasm.
Enomoto Natsuki: Sounds goodー! It’s work so you better film our cutenessー!
Serizawa Haruki: Oouh, thank you guys!
Serizawa Haruki: With that settled, it seems like we’ve just finished eating, so let’s go to Kiyomizu temple together!
I stood from my seat and stared at Natsuki.
Enomoto Natsuki: What’s the matter, Yuu?
Setoguchi Yuu: You still have beans on your mouth, y’know.
Enomoto Natsuki: Eeh!? I’ll wipe it!
Setoguchi Yuu: Pf- Yea yea.
Enomoto Natsuki: Ahー! Are you laughing now? How meanー

"Hey, nice to meet ya!" It'd only be polite to get to know his teammates better. "I'm Dew, how you doing?" He offers his hand. "I don't wanna be too much of a gossip, but you seem like a nice kid, so I gotta warn ya. That Arvis guy? Be careful around him, I've seen what happens when people get on his bad side."
Saias shakes the man's hand, a small smile on his face. "Pleasure meeting you, Dew. My name is Saias." He chuckles. "I apologize if I come off as a little overwhelmed, I just arrived not two weeks ago and I'm still getting my footing here."
As thoughtful as the man is, his warning makes the redhead burst out laughing. "Trust—haha—t-trust me, I'm well aware." At the thought of what his birth father did to his papa, he sobers, a frown etching its way onto his face. "I don't know everything he's done, but I do know he hurt someone I care about, and I... I can't forgive him for that. I should, but I can't."
Sighing, he shakes his head. "I appreciate the warning, but unfortunately I've already caught his attention—and gotten angry at him. I don't know how he still manages to—" He cuts himself off, the words care for me hanging heavy in the air. The fewer who know, the better.
Actually...
"You're acquainted with Arvis? Did you know any of his lieutenants? Specifically, a woman named Aida?"
