The almost overnight surge in electricity demand from data centers is now outstripping the available power supply in many parts of the world, according to interviews with data center operators, energy providers and tech executives. That dynamic is leading to years-long waits for businesses to access the grid as well as growing concerns of outages and price increases for those living in the densest data center markets. The dramatic increase in power demands from Silicon Valley’s growth-at-all-costs approach to AI also threatens to upend the energy transition plans of entire nations and the clean energy goals of trillion-dollar tech companies. In some countries, including Saudi Arabia, Ireland and Malaysia, the energy required to run all the data centers they plan to build at full capacity exceeds the available supply of renewable energy, according to a Bloomberg analysis of the latest available data. By one official estimate, Sweden could see power demand from data centers roughly double over the course of this decade — and then double again by 2040. In the UK, AI is expected to suck up 500% more energy over the next decade. And in the US, data centers are projected to use 8% of total power by 2030, up from 3% in 2022, according to Goldman Sachs, which described it as “the kind of electricity growth that hasn’t been seen in a generation.”

What has been happening in the world of motorsports lately?
Alpine signed Franco Colapinto as a reserve driver on multiple year basis, his manager said in an interview that it is a 5 years long contract
Arthur Leclerc will be driving in 24 hours of Daytona with AF Corse number 50
Andy Cowell becomes team principal of Aston Martin adding to his role of CEO as Mike Krack moves to the trackside team
Haas is currently testing in Jerez in Spain with previous cars (Ollie and Este for Haas and Ritomo Miyata as a part of Toyota)
Toyota also said that they would like to return to F1 full time (just not right now, but it is a first step)
Romain Grosjean became Prema’s reserve in Indycar
Ben Sulayem criticised British media about how they speak about him and against Saudi Arabia and that British GP is sponsored by Qatar Airways which could retract the sponsorship and the money
FIA raised the 2026 cost cap due to inflation, more costs falling under the cost cap and also different technical rules (btw Audi will have different one as the costs in Switzerland are significantly higher)
Alex Dunne became McLaren FE team’s reserve driver
Felipe Drugovich extended his reserve driver contract with Aston
Hot Wheels produced Red Bull car which should bet he first of all teams with their F1 partnership (also the first Lego sets in partnership with F1 are already out too)
Charles sat down for Open Mind (interview??), became the face of latest issue of Sportweek, promoted Peroni, went winter training with his boytoys and then gave an interview to Goodwood
Lewis also has been skiing a bit, Carlos was cycling and Nando was… training his neck. Of course he was.
For some reason. Everyone went to a hairstylist. Pierre and Jack are bald. Oscar used a comb and exposed his hairline and now apparently George also cut his hair
Ollie opened the Autosport International
Guanyu won Weibo’s sport personality of the year
Checo’s dad thanked Red Bull for his time with the team while reports appeared that he would take some time off F1 before deciding on his future
Valentino Rossi will be driving for WRT in WEC this year
Racing Bulls signed a partnership with AI company called Dynatrace
For this year, FIA capped the testing time to 1000 hours of TPC (previous cars) and Ferrari decided to gave them all to Lewis to help him settle in the team
Will Buxton and James Hindcliffe (how do you even spell these names rip) will become part of Indycar’s Broadcasting from this season onwards
and some gossip/interesting facts from my comms under the cut
They were asked on drivers and PR and how they are in real life (which let’s be real nobody knows) and said Jenson Button was very unpleasant, Lance is sometimes pretty rude but only if they approach him as media (when they later met him without the TV’s badge on, he was nice to them), and Lando changed a lot since the year he came into F1 (he will now smile for the cameras and answer their questions for media but once the cameras go off he is really arogant)
Lewis already visited Maranello informally but his formal visit is still waiting
There was 70 less overtakes in 2024 than in 2023 despite there being 2 more races and this year’s Monaco only contained 7 overtakes
2025 F1 grid is made of 8 of 20 drivers affiliated to red bull (despite no longer featuring Sergio, Seb and Daniel): Max, Liam, Yuki, Isack, Alex, Carlos, Pierre, Jack
Despite Zak’s complaints about Red Bull and VCARB working together, the relationship between Ferrari and Haas is much closer
There is a rumour about Max’s and Zandvoort‘s contracts being interlinked somehow, so there is are whispers about him retiring sooner than in 2028 when his contract runs out
Lando’s number one mechanic Marc Cox who left to Extreme E for some time is now coming back as a part of Aston Martin’s crew
Hadjar said he knew about his promotion to F1 since midseason, just didn’t know which seat
There is another rumour about Carlos already looking for a seat outside of Williams
Yuki had offers from Sauber, Alpine and Haas but Red Bull blocked all of them
If anyone on red bull team (and junior team) doesn’t perform well, they are preparing Arvid Lindblad to potentially step up into F1 (the superlicence age change was rumouredly for him because he will only turn 18 later this year and because Marko thinks he is the new Verstappen)
Kimi did 9000 kms of testing with Merc which is about 30 race distances (it is huge number for the new era of F1 but back when testing wasn’t regulated, Lewis did 30k before his debut in MCL)
Newbies get more strict contracts but they get easier as they drive for the team longer – you won’t see rookies posting about skiing or skydiving but you sure will see Lewis or Lance do that (also apparently one of the first things that gets blacklisted first is horseriding lol)
binotto is mad that sauber factory is in terrible condition: they had no people, no methods, the wind tunnel is kinda okay but they have no capacity and knowhow to use it effectively
Ferrari and Mercedes are best prepared for 2026 so far because the new regulations are focused on the engines a lot („if i had to say numbers it is like 60% for Ferrari and 40% for Merc“)
There is unwritten rule that if a driver uses a scooter they do not want you to stop them for media duties and fresh batch of questions
and personal admission: i just discovered today that charles' and pierre's photographers are brothers 💀

Elon Musk just dragged ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence programs into the Trump crosshairs by repeating his warning that current AI models are too “woke” and “politically correct.”
“A lot of the AIs that are being trained in the San Francisco Bay Area, they take on the philosophy of people around them,” Musk said at the Future Investment Initiative, a Saudi Arabia government–backed event held in Riyadh this week. “So you have a woke, nihilistic—in my opinion—philosophy that is being built into these AIs.”
Although Musk is himself a polarizing figure, he is right about AI systems harboring political biases. The issue, however, is far from one-sided, and Musk’s framing may help further his own interests due to his ties to Trump. Musk runs xAI, a competitor to OpenAI, Google, and Meta that could benefit if those companies become government targets.
“Musk clearly has a close, close relationship with the Trump campaign, and any comment that he’s making will hold a big influence,” says Matt Mittelsteadt, a research fellow at George Mason University. “At a maximum he could have some sort of seat in a potential Trump administration, and his views could actually be enacted into some sort of policy.”
Musk has previously accused both OpenAI and Google of being infected with “the woke mind virus.” When Google’s Gemini chatbot produced historically inaccurate images, including black Nazis and Vikings, in February, Musk saw it as proof of Google using AI to spread an absurdly woke outlook.
Musk is clearly no fan of government regulation, but he backed a proposed AI bill in California that would have required companies to make their AI models available for vetting.
The first Trump administration also targeted perceived bias at Big Tech companies with an executive order that sought to hold platforms such as Twitter, Google, and Facebook accountable for censoring information for political reasons. The pressure had a tangible impact, with Meta ultimately abandoning plans for a dedicated news section on Facebook.
Mittelsteadt notes that Trump’s VP pick, JD Vance, has also talked of reining in Big Tech companies and gone as far as to call Google “one of the most dangerous companies in the world.”
Mittelsteadt adds that Trump could punish companies in a variety of ways. He cites, for example, the way the Trump government canceled a major federal contract with Amazon Web Services, a decision likely influenced by the former president’s view of the Washington Post and its owner, Jeff Bezos.
It would not be hard for policymakers to point to evidence of political bias in AI models, even if it cuts both ways.
A 2023 study by researchers at the University of Washington, Carnegie Mellon University, and Xi’an Jiaotong University found a range of political leanings in different large language models. It also showed how this bias may affect the performance of hate speech or misinformation detection systems.
Another study, conducted by researchers at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, found bias in several open source AI models on polarizing issues such as immigration, reproductive rights, and climate change. Yejin Bang, a PhD candidate involved with the work, says that most models tend to lean liberal and US-centric, but that the same models can express a variety of liberal or conservative biases depending on the topic.
AI models capture political biases because they are trained on swaths of internet data that inevitably includes all sorts of perspectives. Most users may not be aware of any bias in the tools they use because models incorporate guardrails that restrict them from generating certain harmful or biased content. These biases can leak out subtly though, and the additional training that models receive to restrict their output can introduce further partisanship. “Developers could ensure that models are exposed to multiple perspectives on divisive topics, allowing them to respond with a balanced viewpoint,” Bang says.
The issue may become worse as AI systems become more pervasive, says Ashique KhudaBukhsh, an computer scientist at the Rochester Institute of Technology who developed a tool called the Toxicity Rabbit Hole Framework, which teases out the different societal biases of large language models. “We fear that a vicious cycle is about to start as new generations of LLMs will increasingly be trained on data contaminated by AI-generated content,” he says.
“I’m convinced that that bias within LLMs is already an issue and will most likely be an even bigger one in the future,” says Luca Rettenberger, a postdoctoral researcher at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology who conducted an analysis of LLMs for biases related to German politics.
Rettenberger suggests that political groups may also seek to influence LLMs in order to promote their own views above those of others. “If someone is very ambitious and has malicious intentions it could be possible to manipulate LLMs into certain directions,” he says. “I see the manipulation of training data as a real danger.”
There have already been some efforts to shift the balance of bias in AI models. Last March, one programmer developed a more right-leaning chatbot in an effort to highlight the subtle biases he saw in tools like ChatGPT. Musk has himself promised to make Grok, the AI chatbot built by xAI, “maximally truth-seeking” and less biased than other AI tools, although in practice it also hedges when it comes to tricky political questions. (A staunch Trump supporter and immigration hawk, Musk’s own view of “less biased” may also translate into more right-leaning results.)
Next week’s election in the United States is hardly likely to heal the discord between Democrats and Republicans, but if Trump wins, talk of anti-woke AI could get a lot louder.
Musk offered an apocalyptic take on the issue at this week’s event, referring to an incident when Google’s Gemini said that nuclear war would be preferable to misgendering Caitlyn Jenner. “If you have an AI that’s programmed for things like that, it could conclude that the best way to ensure nobody is misgendered is to annihilate all humans, thus making the probability of a future misgendering zero,” he said.

The First 100 Hours: Historic Action to Kick Off America's Golden Age
Issued January 24, 2025.
President Donald Trump's second term is off to an historic start.
The President is wasting no time delivering on the promises he made to the American people. The President signed more executive orders on his first day in office than any other president in history.
Within the first 100 hours of his second administration, President Trump taken [typo present in original text] hundreds of executive actions to secure the border, deport criminal illegal immigrants, unleash American prosperity, lower costs, increase government transparency, and reinstitute merit-based hiring in the federal government.
The President has already secured over $1 trillion in historic new investments.
We're witnessing the Trump Effect:
President Trump is securing historic investments just days after being sworn in.
President Trump secured $500 billion in private sector investment for the largest AI infrastructure project in history, with Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman all stating that it would not have been possible if not for President Trump's election victory and leadership.

Stellantis announced it will restart an assembly plant in Illinois and build the new Dodge Durango in Detroit.
The Detroit Free Press: "The news, announced in a letter Wednesday to employees from North America Chief Operating Officer Antonio Filosa, also provided some good news to workers in Toledo, Ohio, and Kokomo, Indiana, where investments are planned. The Belvidere plant will start production of a new midsize truck in the next two years. The letter said company Chairman John Elkann had met last week with President Donald Trump before his inauguration on Monday. Elkann shared 'our enthusiasm for his strong commitment to the United States auto industry and all that this means for American jobs and the broader economy.'"
President Trump is already securing the border and arresting criminal illegal immigrants.
The Border Patrol is reporting a significant drop already in attempted illegal crossings.
Fox News: "The U.S. southern border has seen a sharp drop in illegal immigrant encounters in the first days of the Trump administration, compared to the final few days of the Biden administration."
ICE is at work rounding up criminal aliens.
Fox News: "Information obtained by Fox News Digital, shows that between midnight Jan. 21 and 9 a.m. Jan 22, a 33-hour period, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) arrested more than 460 illegal immigrants that include criminal histories of sexual assault, robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, drugs and weapons offenses, resisting arrest and domestic violence."
Breitbart News: "President Donald Trump's administration arrested 538 illegal aliens on Thursday, ranging from child predators to gang members and a suspected terrorist."
The Trump Administration immediately shut down the CBP One app, which "paroled" over 1 million illegal immigrants.
Deportation flights have already started and the military is assisting with the effort.
The Department of Homeland Security reinstated official use of the term "illegal alien" over "undocumented noncitizen," and the DOJ announced it would be taking action against lawless sanctuary city policies.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order to designate the cartels as terrorist organizations.
Common sense has been restored to the government.
President Trump signed a series of executive orders ensuring the elimination of discriminatory DEI practices and ensuring merit-based hiring.
DEI staff are being placed on leave.
The Federal Aviation Administration must now return to merit-based hiring.
President Trump ended an affirmative action mandate in federal government hiring.
President Trump signed an executive order affirming the reality that there are only two sexes.
The State Department subsequently ordered workers to return to working in the office.
President Donald Trump is unleashing American energy.
President Trump declared a National Energy Emergency to unlock America's full energy potential and bring down costs for American families.
President Trump rescinded every one of Joe Biden's industry-killing, pro-China, and anti-American energy regulations, empowering consumer choice in vehicles, showerheads, toilets, washing machines, lightbulbs, and dishwashers.
President Trump withdrew the United States from the disastrous Paris Climate Agreement that unfairly ripped off our country.
President Trump paused all new federal leasing and permitting for massive wind farms that degrade our natural landscapes and fail to serve American energy consumers.
President Trump reversed the burdensome regulations that impeded Alaska's ability to develop its vast natural resources.
President Trump terminated Biden's harmful electric vehicle mandate.
These opening few days can be summarized as Promises Made, Promises Kept:
President Donald Trump said he would declassify the JFK Files. He did.
President Donald Trump said he would end the EV mandate. He did.
President Donald Trump said he would have the backs of the brave men and women in law enforcement. He did just that by pardoning two Washington D.C. Police officers that were unjustly prosecuted. The Metropolitan Police Department thanked President Trump for the pardon.
President Donald Trump said he would use the military to secure the border. The Pentagon is deploying troops to the border and the Coast Guard is surging assets to the Gulf of America.
President Trump said we would drill, baby, drill. The President signed executive orders to open up offshore drilling and allow more energy exploration in Alaska.
President Donald Trump said he would end the weaponization of government. He signed an executive order doing just that.
President Donald Trump said he would pardon the J6 Hostages. He did.
President Donald Trump said he would end government censorship. On his first day in office, he signed an executive order restoring freedom of speech and ending government censorship.
President Trump is being praised for his historic leadership:
The Steel Manufacturers Association: "President Trump has repeatedly demonstrated his strong support for American steel workers. He reiterated that support on day one by directing his agencies to investigate unfair trade and its impact on domestic manufacturing."
American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers President and CEO Chet Thompson: "President Trump promised to end gas car bans and vehicle mandates on Day 1 of his new administration, and we are pleased to see that work already underway. Thank you, President Trump."
American Petroleum Institute President and CEO Mike Sommers: "Americans sent a clear message at the ballot box, and President Trump is answering the call on Day 1. U.S. energy dominance will drive our nation's economic and security agenda. This is a new day for American energy and we applaud President Trump for moving swiftly to chart a new path where U.S. oil and natural gas are embraced, not restricted."
Job Creators Network CEO Alfredo Ortiz: "Trump's two-fold approach of boosting oil and gas production and repealing the Biden administration's green energy mandates will make American energy cheaper, reliable and more efficient."
Mortgage Bankers Association President and CEO Bob Broeksmit: "President Trump campaigned on lowering costs for Americans, and we appreciate housing supply and affordability being included in an executive order on this issue. We support efforts to cut unnecessary regulatory red tape and to pursue federal housing program enhancements that make renting and homeownership more attainable and sustainable."
Professional Trucking Association Group: "President Trump's decision to freeze regulations and curtail bureaucratic overreach is commendable. This is precisely what America needs: reduced government interference and increased freedom for small trucking businesses and entrepreneurs to flourish."
NetChoice CEO Steve DelBianco: "Upon returning to office, President Trump showed that America is ready to lead in tech and innovation again. By repealing Biden's restrictive rules on energy production and AI development, the president is steering America to remain dominant in creating the best technology in the world."
United Against Nuclear Iran Chairman Governor Jeb Bush and CEO Ambassador Mark Wallace: "We applaud President Trump for his decision today to redesignate the Houthis as an FTO. UANI in its recommended action plan for the Trump administration's first 100 days suggested that the president redesignate the Houthis as an FTO. This will now provide the U.S. government additional authorities to hold the Houthis accountable for their threats to international commerce and U.S. allies and partners."

Airbus will create Eurofighter EK version for electronic combat
Saab will provide self-protection systems.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 11/29/2023 - 5:15 pm in Military
Now it's official: the Eurofighter EK (Electronic Combat) is coming. After the recent parliamentary approval of the German budget committee, Airbus will equip 15 German Eurofighters for electronic warfare – and equip them with a Saab transmitter location and self-protection system, as well as anti-radar missiles "AARGM" from the American company Northrop Grumman.
The Eurofighter EK should be certified by NATO by 2030 and will then replace the Tornado in the SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defense) function.
"Electronic warfare and reconnaissance are important requirements of NATO: the current conflicts and the current security situation show how important the two capabilities are," says Airbus Defence and Space CEO Michael Schöllhorn. “In this regard, the German government's decision to include such an important capacity as electronic warfare in the Eurofighter capability portfolio is an important measure. The "EK" will add this important capability to the already broad operational spectrum of the Eurofighter, while strengthening European sovereignty and autonomy."
With the parliamentary approval of the Budget Committee, the Eurofighter is now officially defined as the successor to the Tornado ECR (Electro-Combat/Recognition). Airbus is now waiting for the official order to integrate the selected technical solutions into the Eurofighter. The corresponding contract between Eurofighter GmbH, as the main contractor, and NETMA (NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency) should be signed before the end of the year.
With Saab's transmitter tracking system and Northrop Grumman's Anti-Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM), the Eurofighter EK will be able to detect, locate and disable anti-aircraft radars. In addition, the Saab solution has blockers that improve the self-protection of the Eurofighter. The Eurofighter EK also has on-board technologies that have been developed by small and medium-sized companies and a start-up. This includes an AI solution that allows you to analyze on-board radar data and quickly determine accurate self-protection measures.
Airbus is currently working with the BAAINBw purchasing office, the German Air Force and the Bundeswehr Aviation Office on a detailed schedule for the implementation of the selected EK solutions in 15 Eurofighters.
