Their yellow eyes darkened as they looked at L. Naafiri had long stopped thinking about their life as a singular being. Back then they had loved, had they not? They could remember somebody, but the memory was so dull and vague that Naafiri could not even make out a face. Sneezing loudly, the main body pushed itself on strong legs. The other packmates released low, uncertain howls and barks, some even pawing at the ground restlessly. Naafiri ignored the sensation of discomfort and displeasure the other bodies were responding to.

Walking over towards L, the seven-foot-tall dune hound stared down at the asker. The pendant jingled against its ear. Somehow, the small, golden tooth-like object stung more than it usually did. Naafiri's tail lowered itself between the main body's legs and the other pack mates stopped their pawing. Instead, they too dropped on the ground, heads between their paws, ears flat against their heads.

Naafiri spoke: "When you Ascend, you are given a private servant. They function as a private chambermaid. They wash you, clean your armour, and they make sure you want for nothing. For many Ascended, this connection with these specific mortals is very deep and personal. It is supposed to remind us of whom we are serving. We are serving the well-being of Shurima. We are its greatest defenders. Mortals look to us for our guidance and protection, and nothing is supposed to symbolise that harder than our chambermaid."

Naafiri could feel themselves inspect their pendant again, now deliberately lingering in the bodies of the packmates to see the golden fang properly. The main body revealed: "My chambermaid was the daughter of a jeweller, a young priestess girl named Mert. She was a lovely girl, surprisingly intelligent and well-read but also very quiet. She was extremely dutiful and fulfilled her jobs to my fullest satisfaction. She was one of the only mortals, who was ever allowed to sharpen my daggers.

"Somehow we developed an affair with one another. Mert was my lover for many moons, all the while being my chambermaid. We naturally had to keep our relationship under hush as an Ascended probably was never supposed to fall in love with a mortal, much less a mere chambermaid." Naafiri raised her paw to touch her pendant. "Shortly before Mert died, she gave me this pendant as a gift to remember her by. I fastened it to my preferred dagger and now, it has been a part of this body ever since."

"Evelynn."

Ahri was softly balancing a ball of icy blue, magical energy with her blackened hands. Keeping herself hovering in mid-air, her nine tails forming a soft cushion of silver-white fur around her body, the fox Vastaya inspected a shadowy mirage of Evelynn resting on her lashes and using what seemed to be a stolen magenta file to clean and sharpen her nails. Her body was completely enveloped in shadow and even her horns were visible, jagged and pointy as they protruded from her head.

Ahri gave an adorable chuckle as she threw the ball up and caught it securely again while she explained: "I know this must be a strange thing to say, given how Evelynn behaves towards most people she meets. But I cannot help but admire her. Evelynn is way older than even me and that has to say something as I am equally older than most people I ever met. She knows a lot and she is an exceptionally skilled huntress. After all, she has targeted a lot of people and she has never been caught.

"Without Evelynn, my skills probably have never refined themselves as quickly as they did. Of course, we go after very different types of prey, even when we both target children. Still, our approaches are very different nonetheless. Plus Evelynn knows a lot about the world. I feel like she even might know what the Vesani are. Now if she weren't so coy with that information, that would be wonderful."

Johnny - suburban dad Makes everyone's food, packs Reyna's school bag, asks about her day, gets her settled in her car seat and makes sure she’s safe, gets her after school snacks. He’s the one on all her paperwork, so he’s gotta be there for everythingggggggg-- Dance recitals, sports games, pre-k graduation, etc.

Taeyong - tired dad Falls asleep everywhere in the house with Reyna laying on top of him. He didn’t get to spend much time with her when she was a baby because of his enlistment, so he does a lot to make up time with her now. Likes to spoil her with expensive gifts. Teaches her to dance. Front row for all of her school events and performances so he can record and take pics like an embaeassinglty proud dad.

Yuta - fashionista dad Picks out all of Reyna's outfits, buys all of her clothes, very critical of the outfits the other boys try to put her in whenever he's not around. Goes with her to the hair salon to make sure the stylist doesn’t fuck up his daughter’s hair— Loves to wear matching outfits with her omfg….. Very casual, so he only picks her up when she runs over to him and asks. Teaches her to speak Japanese, insists that she only speaks Japanese when talking to him. Takes her to Japan whenever she's on break from school. Loves to take her to concerts, having her run on stage before the show starts and the stadium is empty, making sure her noise cancelling headphones are snug on her head every time he runs off stage between sets, etc. Average rockstar dad things.

Doyoung - cuddle bug dad If he can’t sleep, he’ll steal Reyna from Ahri’s room and sleep with her in his room. He loves to watch her run around in her princess costumes omfg. He loves to make her laugh because he thinks her laugh is the cutest thing in the whole wide world-- She has a bright, wide, gummy laugh just like him. He’s just all around supportive. Buys stuffed animals for her, specifically bunnies. He does the chores around the house, he takes Reyna when Ahri needs a break, he helps Johnny with paperwork and any tasks for Reyna, etc. Basically just the back bone to everyone else’s dad traits.

Jaehyun - bestest dad in the whole world Loves to hold her and carry her around the house. Loves cuddling with her and watching movies with her. He takes her to work in the years before grade school starts, then he starts taking her on holidays and weekends when Yuta doesn't steal her away to Japan. He’ll have her run around practice rooms, sit in the board room chairs that are too big for her, watch as he records music in the music booths, etc. If he could take her everywhere, have her attached to his hip 25/8, he would. He loves doing everything with her.

Jungwoo - silly dad Sneaks her snacks, takes her to do fun things. Is very protective and will bat off all the little kids who try to flirt with her on the playground. Cries on her first day of school. Play date dad-- Drops her off at the other parents' houses, scopes out if it's safe or not, runs the interrogations (He will interrogate the kids, too, no one is safe from protective dad!Jungwoo). If it's a sleepover, he'll overpack her bags and sit in the car in the driveway for, like 10 min, worrying about her before he finally goes home.

Mark - late bloomer He’s figuring it out, he just needs more time… He’s a lil scared…. But when he’s missed her lots after tour or something, he’ll fight everyone else to hold her in his arms for hours to days on end. Haechan has a folder full of pictures and videos of Mark and Reyna sleeping or playing together. When Mark and Hyuck are on tour and he bring up missing her, Hyuck will pull out his phone.

Haechan - the most girl dad to ever girl dad Bro is obsessed with Reyna even before she’s born ok. Buys her everything she wants. Plays silly games with her. Will dress up as a princess for tea time. Makes silly faces with her as their silent love language. Spoils her to Hell and back because he doesn't want her to lift a single finger ever. If one of the boys tries to give her chores to do, Haechan will do them for her, even though he hates doing chores. Teaches her bad habits because it’s fun for them to do together even tho Ahri and Johnny beg him not to…

what;s your thoughts on ionia if you have any? from a design perspective? I personally feel like ionia lacks design coherency, and kind of forces a bunch of unrelated design elements into what is suppose to be a single nation.

I feel pretty mixed. The concept art and conceptual ideas behind Ionia's aesthetics are genuinely beautiful - if you check the Universe page for the art, you'll find some visual absolute bangers.

One of the major ideas of Ionia is the idea that people live in symbiotic harmony with nature by way of magic and spirit magic, and one of the very clever ways this is reflected is that Ionian buildings are not built by felling trees, but by asking trees to arrange themselves into structures that buildings can be built around, in return for the occupants nourishing and honouring the tree that shelters them, which is a super cool idea and genuinely comes across in a lot of the region's concept art:

And the artists at Riot explored some genuinely incredibly creative visual ideas for the aesthetics of the region that draw from various fantasy aesthetics without feeling like it's merely regurgitating lesser imitations of Chinese, Korean or Japanese fantasy. Like, it does at least try to imagine and synthesize something novel out of its influences, mixing stark rocky environments with impossibly vibrant nature colors to create the sense of a dreamlike, shifting landscape, something that makes sense in a region defined by a living environment animated by magic. Plants and rocks flow into one another and merge, rock formations sprout like trees, the boundaries between land and life blur.

Unfortunately, outside of the concept art, Ionia really is just treated as Magic Asia: The Region. China, Korea and Japan, with sometimes a bit of south and south-east Asia conglomerated in there, it's all just mushed together into one homogenate; and that rankles a bit in a game that devotes four entire regions to various flavors and time periods of Europe Shit.™

And that's where your complaint comes from, I think. Ionia is a big soup of pan-Asian fantasy tropes all packed into a single compressed region, where none of them really have enough room to define themselves, and it leads to a lot of incoherency. Wukong is drawn straight out of Wuxia, and he runs around alongside a Batteries Not Included minor Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle villain-looking cyber samurai in Master Yi, a samurai-ninja in Shen, a Korean kumiho in Ahri, a fantasy Yakuza in Sett and random spirit creatures like Treebeard On Weed Ivern and Disney Princess Bambi in Lillia. It's messy.

It could be genuinely brilliant, I think, if Riot committed more to inventing their own mythology and aesthetic here, rather than merely reproduce pop-culture tropes and archetypes, but we're 150 champions deep in this now and I don't think there's much chance they'll pivot at this point.

Ahri: radio show host and "reporter". This dimension's "MJ"(she lives) and "Ned". She helps Akali by tracking police radios and keeping investigators off her tail. Often tells Akali that thanks to her natural charms no one suspects a thing. But don't let the sweet talk fool you, she might be hiding something

Evelynn: Definitely the dimension's Kingpin. Or at least...the women behind him. Eve runs most of the crime and such going on in Runterra City, from smuggling goods, organized gangs, the occasional missing persons. All her. Under the disguise of the original Kingpin, who she took out to take control over everything

I only know the basics and such about the marvel universe(s). But I've always liked Spiderman and the movies were definitely my favorite growing up. Combine that with my love for kda and we get cool shiz like this. Might draw up some spiderverse kda soon

Also, I just randomly realised how prevailing the theme of MIND CONTROL is on my blog. I mean, I knew that Hounding and its conditioning is basically a form of mind control, but now, that I take a step back, I am realising how pretty much all my muses have some form of mind control in their arsenal. Yes, it is different types of mind control, but it is still there.

You have Silco and Jinx and the Hounding and conditioning, which is the least supernatural form of mind control. There is no magic going on. It is just a rewiring of your mind, complete with trigger words, specific mindsets and everything.

Ahri has her charm, which essentially makes you an almost comatose puppet, specifically engineered to love, adore and protect her, all so she can easily consume your childhood memories. Plus that charm is secreted into her pelt, so she does not even have to cast it.

Naafiri has their hemomancy, which enables them precise control over their fifty or so pack mates. Unless you are a cup, Naafiri can control you down to the tiniest muscle movement. I am still debating how much power Naafiri can have over other creatures and people, including blood golems. Yup, I am debating if the Darkin can control Briar.

Again, this probably is not something new to most people, however, I am only now spotting that repeating theme. I am not against it. It just surprises me as it was entirely an accident. I hope that even with mind control as a theme, my rp partners still feel like their characters have agency and we are crafting compelling and interesting plots.

how did ahri tell the boys she was pregnant the second time

In canon it’s a bit diff than the fic I posted- Ahri tells Jae is pregnant a few days before he enlists rathee than the day of. The convo happens the same, but instead of Johnny interrupting them, Jae tells her to go downstairs and gather the boys to tell them while he finishes folding a few more shirts. When she leaves, Jae just sits and stares at the wall for a bit. He got what he wanted so why does he feel so sad and empty and regretful? …. He shakes it off and puts on a brave smile as he heads down to find all the boys gathered in the living room with Ahri— Doyoung and Johnny are being quite handsy these days, so Dy is all up in John’s business, trying to get his attention by flirting with him constantly, and Johnny doesn’t mind it honestly. Haechan and Jungwoo are on the verge of wrestling on the carpet for who gets to hold Reyna, but Yuta just snatches her up and says she’s his for the afternoon.

Ahri tells the boys that she’s pregnant, and there’s silence in the room for a bit because they know Jae’s the father, they’re not idiots, and now they’re just wondering what they’re going to do. “The same thing we did with Reyna while Taeyong-hyung enlisted. We’ll be fine,” Jaehyun reassures everyone with a smile. But Ahri starts to cry again, and all the boys are up on their feet to comfort her— Johnny and Mark are the first at her side. Mark kisses her cheek and cooes that it’s okay, Johnny kisses the top of her head and hugs her side softly, and Jaehyun just watches from the back of the crowd with those feelings of sadness, emptiness, and regret boiling up. He offers to take Reyna upstairs to help him pack… but it’s all a distraction from the way he’s about to cry. Honestly, the only person who notices is Johnny. He leaves Ahri’s side, only to be replaced quickly by Jungwoo, and he follows Jaehyun and Reyna upstairs— Jaehyun immediately gets to packing, having Reyna “fold” his pants for him…. She sucks at it, but he laughs and says she’s doing a good job before he fixes it. His breath shudders. His hands are shaking. And his eyes are red. When he reaches out to pet Reyna’s head, Johnny finally enters. “You’ll be okay, you know,” he tells Jae. They both nod knowingly. “And Ahri’ll be okay.” Jae nods again, tears pooling in his eyes. “Reyna and the baby will be fine.” “Yeah,” Jae croaks. Johnny sighs and throws his arm over Jaehyun’s shoulders, “It’ll be okay.” To Johnny’s surprise, Jaehyun abandons the clothes he was folding and just plops his head on Johnny’s shoulder while letting out a heavy breath, “Promise you’ll send me pictures and updates?” “Duh.” Jaehyun chuckles lightly, “Thanks, hyung.”

Hyuck has ahri asleep and curled up on his lap later when it’s time for dinner. Jaehyun laughs and takes a seat with them on the couch, carefully moving Ahri’s feet so that they’re on his lap while he massages them and tunes in to whatever random show the boys put on to help keep Ahri distracted while she calmed down then inevitably fell asleep.

“You think it’s a boy or a girl this time?” Jungwoo asks excitedly. “A boy,” Jae says, “Definitely a boy.”

Chocolates and roses?: Roses! Aren't they just so pretty? They smell nice, they're romantic, and even after they wither, you can dry them out for a little decoration somewhere.

What makes you a good Valentine?: I like to think I'm thoughtful, compassionate, empathetic, and deeply loving. I'll adore you to the ends of the universe, spoil you rotten, and shower you in all of the love you've ever deserved.

Would you cook for me?: I'm not the best at it, but I would! I'll learn to be the best!

Would you let me cook for you?: Of couuuurse. We should cook together. Like, wouldn't that be cute?

Where would you take me on a date?: We should go out and see the hidden gems of the city. Out of the way, private, and we get to enjoy things like they're out secret against the world. Just us. Nice museums, private restaurants, little shops in gorgeous districts that feel like a world of their own...

Who’s paying?: Ummm, me, of course. If I'm asking you to be my Valentine, of course I should be the one to pay.

What did you get me for Valentine’s Day?: So much! All of your favorite perfumes and hair products, rings, a giant throw blanket, a fluffy robe that would drag all the way on the floor even on you so that we can warmly cuddle together, tickets to go see Pentakill... VIP, of course! And all of your favorite junk food and snacks, all packed in a big basket!

It's fairly safe to say that Kayn is pretty obsessed with Ahri. They may have had their ups and down (and the peaks were as high as mountains, with the lows mirroring the deep darkness of the oceans), but he feels perfectly comfortable with her now. He's not immune to the same bouts of insecurity that have always plagued her, but this time, when affection swells in his chest with each of her answers, he doesn't try to tamp it down out of fear.

"You spoil me," he says, flashing a devilish grin at her. Then, Kayn loops an arm around her waist, reeling her in closer. "But there's a few problems here. First," his smiling lips are so close to hers, his lashes low and seductive, "you think? You can't truly be unsure, Ahri. Don't be coy, now. Second of all, did you really fill all this out for my attention? Ahri..." His tone is scolding and intimate all at once, his mouth hanging open inches from hers, his tongue poking out just enough to wet her bottom lip.

Kayn looks at the application one more time, like he really needs to think about it. "Hmmmm..." As if either of them doubt his answer. "Yeah, accepted."
