Of all the things to appear in my head, an A Hat in Time sequel/AU but it takes place about 5-10 years after the original, has overall darker themes, guns, steampunk/cowboy shit and is an RTS like Xcom or Mario and Rabbids wasn't it.

But I actually love the idea so I'm gonna run with it.

And now I'm gonna have to do some shenanigans and formulate an AU but I'm gonna give you a basic rundown of some characters and events (its all spoilers because why not, also [TW for mentions of death and death by overheating]):

|| Mustache Girl redemption story. ||

|| Seriously, anyone who remembers Times End doesn't trust Mu with the worst being openly hostile towards her (namely Conductor and Snatcher...though both use her as a towel girl first before the battle, Timmy is sorta this). It's basically Mu trying her damned hardest to redeem herself in the eyes of others whilst theres a bunch of shit going on. ||

|| All characters are aged up (its, like, ten years since the events of the first game). ||

|| There are two Hat Kid's, one is from the alpha/beta (aka beta kid), the other is a grown up retail Hat Kid. Beta went mad with power with the timepieces and basically overthrew Tim (with help from moonjumper, yes there is cut content) and is causing chaos, Tim recruits a bunch of folks to kick this bitch back to hell. Retail has nothing against Mu and really doesn't wanna be there but, following Ahit ARG shenanigans, had its soul stolen by beta kid and held hostage and knows too much about the first timeline and other secrets to the point she is scared that she might actually get whacked for knowing too much. Both are antagonists working together but their motives are very different and one doesn't wanna be there. ||

|| Tim can use some power but he is barely a shadow of his former self, luckily, Tim's Friend sticks around because it likes Tim more than Beta. ||

|| Retail during her boss fight wears armour so tight that its impenetrable unless explosives are used with it, however there is jack all ventilation and Retail HK canonically || overheats, dies and respawns when she moves up a stage ||...she also has a steampunk minigun thing with a gun-shield which falls off half-way through. ||

|| Bow and Timmy are here too, both enter later and Timmy is hanging out in Vanessa's manor like in the beta where he fucks with Mu for a kinda justifiable reason. Bow opted to work with the declining Nyakuza behind the scenes after the death of Empress, the Empress' named successor is basically a puppet. ||

|| Bow is a one woman army. ||

|| Cut Characters reappear with various reasons for being around, Beta Kid and moonjumper are allied. ||

|| The Conductor is just an arsehole in this, Grooves was able to turn the tides and now he's feeling the burn as Grooves wins awards. The fucker even helps Shapeshifter during its rampage through the Science Express and only owns up to it after he has been shot, stabbed and bludgeoned about 80 times. ||

|| Its not actually Grooves but Connie is just as salty. ||

SOMEONE in this AU had to semi-consistently have a braincell.

Sorry about how inconsistently he’s drawn here :”) Out of all the characters so far, he’s the one I’ve drawn the least. Hopefully as I draw him more it’ll get more consistent!

I’m admittedly not super happy with his colors, but I’ve spent way too long trying to adjust them. Can’t win ‘em all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you’re confused what Prince means by “apocalypse”, he’s talking about Time’s End. The transmission’s happening like right before he goes down to face Princess :)

Meet Duke, the co-op partner/alternate protagonist! He’s also sometimes called Mon or Moon, mostly by Prince. In the main timeline, he arrives on Earth sometime around USAU’s version of Seal the Deal.

As the most promising student of Time Keeper’s Academy, Prince was subjected to several experiments, many of them painful, in an effort to study and replicate such qualities. One of these experiments used him to test newly developed cloning technology-- after all, creating a clone would be the easiest way to achieve their goal, right?

As it turned out, they were able to create a clone, but not quite as intended. The experiment sort of “split” Prince. His health and strength were halved, becoming just above that of the average child of their species. The experiments were shut down indefinitely.

Despite everything, Prince and Duke became great friends, and consider themselves brothers. They usually speak to each other in their native language, even on Earth.

While Prince has already graduated, Duke is still in school since he’s technically younger. He wasn’t allowed to study law, so he went into the next best thing-- star mapping! It was a combination of two of his favorite things, space and painting. Since it’s actually part of his job, Duke is a much better pilot than Prince, and can travel to Earth under the guise of “studying”.

Although he loves his brother, he really dislikes when people treat him like he IS Prince, as most of his peers and superiors do, although it’s at least better than the ones who don’t even consider him “human”. So, he does his best to make himself look as different as possible, going as far as dying his hair and changing his eye color. It helps... a little bit.

He’s not super confident, nor very good at socializing, but he’s usually very focused and the only one here with a healthy amount of self esteem. He’s not afraid to ask for help if he needs it, and often helps others realize when they need it too. With the exception of his brother, who is equally as stubborn as him and may need a little extra help with asking for... help. Oh no.

All of his crowns are the same as Prince’s, excluding his default monocle. The glasses are a flair for the monocle :)

A Found Future

A machine. A politician. A scientist. A dream. That was all it was. That was all there was to remember from it. The memory of what happened, of what happened before, and what could have been.  An Explosion. A death.  A Spirit Blasted To The Other Side.  Claire had closed her eyes there, in the room with the time machine, and had repoened them on the outskirts of what appeared to be an underwater city. Where had she gone? Was she alive? A look down at her neon pink body indicated that not to be the case, and fear washed over her tremendously. She was dead, was she? She felt like it, but also that she wasn’t completely whole, either. What was she to do now? How was she able to get back? Was there no way home? Was there no way out of there? Her eyes would focus back onto the nearby city, one that seemed dead, but alive all the same. She had nowhere else to go.  The scientist started her journey to the city and through it, as there were no signs of life there anymore. All she found was a poncho to keep her warm, one she took without a second thought. Her travels would continue, and she would start to learn bits and pieces of where she ended up. The Moon World, it was called? That’s what the Drawings On The Walls told her, anyways. They also told of a fued of some kind, between two different groups. An ancient civilization closer to the Sun, while four spirits and few others were closer the Moon. There were also a few more drawings, she had noticed. There were people, and there were two men... no, was that..? A shake of the head kept her worries at bay as she continued her trip.  There were ancient sites she stumbled on, all of which were difficult to travel. Though, these ones spoke of a story that had dated eons ago. There was a girl in black with a top hat... A Dream Goddess, she was called. There was also a boy with similar clothes, she doesn’t know where he went. Her questions couldn’t be figured out like this, and even at the top of the Highest Tower, could she not get any answers. It didn’t matter once she was done, however. As she ended up in a different place, a place better off for beings like her.  Claire read a sign somewhere. Welcome to Subcon Forest.  The spirit made her way to a nearby village, one where the small, doll-like people were scared of her. She reassured them that she meant no harm, and her Sunny vibes allowed the villagers to settle. They spoke of not having met someone as nice as her in quite a time, and took her to see a spirit similar to her, one deeper in the village. She was taken to Her, and the two of them would meet. They introduced each other quickly, sharing their names as Flo and Claire. One was a Florist. One was a Scientist. They bonded over their shortcomings, and helped each other with their loses.  There was someone else that needed to speak of Her shortcomings, too. The Scientist had not been told of the full Tale of what happened to the destroyed kingdom, and wondered what was on the Other Side. It was cold over there, but Claire could manage it, couldn’t she? For a whole day, she went missing, as she decided to see what was on the other side of the bridge, and what could be found in the Large House she would eventually find.  Claire entered through the basement, as a Hatted Child would do in a few years time. She saw the Chains, but pressed on. She saw the exit of the cellar, and pressed on. The Scientist would stand there, in the middle of the dusty house feared for a few years now. It wasn’t too bad really, what was there to fear?  “WHO’S THERE?! WHO DARES ENTER MY HOME?!”  The Moon Devil opened a nearby door and saw the pink spirit in her gaze. She gave chase immediately, and the Scientist feared for her Second Life. A pity, how the Queens of the Worlds would first meet like this. Claire made it out of the Manor in one piece, thankfully, but both her and... whoever that was, felt some sort of solidarity. Who Was This Ice Queen?  And so she asked that question, and went back again.  And again.  And then again.  Vanessa grew tired, and grew curious, on why and who this spirit was, and what she wanted. The Queen would cease her chase, and the two of them managed to talk, even if only for a short bit. Claire had to meet back with a... Florist?! The Queen’s demonic screams of a Florist and a Prince somewhere drove Claire out of that house for a few days. In the village again, she’d ask if Flo was the Florist the Ice Queen spoke of. A fearful Florist would give a nod, and sat the unknowing Scientist down, and finally gave the story no one else was brave enough to tell.  A Queen. A Painter. A Lawyer. A Shadowed Heart. A Banishment. A Broken Heart. A Betrayal. A Death. A Genocide.  A Kingdom. A Forest.  A Devil, and two brothers who Didn’t Know Any Better.  Claire then knew, and regretted ever speaking to such a horrid person. And yet... something still called to her. A connection, of sorts? Or the feeling that, she too, should have a Crown on her head? Confusion was instilled, and all she was left were more questions. Perhaps a talk or two with these two brothers, Snatcher and... Moonjumper, could give her answers? And perhaps a secret visit or two back to the Manor to get all sides of this frigid tale?  Claire was a Scientist, she would remind herself, and scientists went to answer questions unable to be answered before. Even if this had no Time Travel, it gave her something to look forward to, to try and put the puzzle pieces together. Maybe in the end, it could give her answers on her own situation, too. With Flo by her side, the Future was just as Bright.

My AU

Since everyone has an AU I might as well share one of my own.

So there are three different universes which exist seperatly from each other but different events happen during it, due the events of the ARG, universe 1 (or 1HT) is 3 years ahead of the other two but due to unfortunate events around Universe 3's (or 3HT) version of Hat Kid going insane with the power of Time and space in her hands she accidentally melds the three universes together in a way which keeps them around but means that it takes up a lot of Space and that includes the 3 universe Earth's.

The three universes consist of:

1HT which encompasses the retail game and chapters, Hat Kid is an alien and her actual name is Caitlyn. Bow Kid and 1HT Timmy are dead and because of that (and some other events) Caitlyn decided to give up on beam attacks and umbrella swings in favour of jacketed hollow points and Thermite. Her ship has been destroyed by the cataclysmic events causing the mixup but Ol' Stella's fuel tank cooking off in the lower atmosphere over Calcite/Mafia Town actually lessened any horrific effects meaning most of universe 3's negativity didn't enter except, 1HT also concerns the events of the ARG some of those characters coming in later.

2HT encompasses the Prototype and alpha stages of A hat in Time's developement (Alpha Subcon forest, City of calcite/Harbour, Sands 'n sails and Science express), as such it also contains many cut characters (Moonjumper, Thor, etc, etc). 2HT Hat Kid is called Natalie, Proto Kid also exists (she was made by Tim to Give Hat Kid a friend to play with when she isn't serving him) and 2HT Bow and Timmy are alive. When the cataclysm occurs everyone instinctively blames Tim for yet another meltdown, then they shift the blame to Caitlyn (which kickstarts her shift from Umbrella's and projectile badges to crowbars and firearms) before finally getting the jist of it and blaming 3HT Hat Kid (more about her later).

3HT is mostly unknown because it technically no longer exists, very few things have been ported over to here and as such there isn't much information but due to 3HT's version of Hat Kid (whose actual name is unknown, she caused this entire mess and needs to go to therapy) and Snatcher (who in this universe in an irredeemable prick) somehow surviving the incident (everyone else is fucking dead) and the fact that they're both arseholes means that its hell in there.

I will make more posts about this au whenever the hell I have the motivation to do so.
