wow I never do personal rants in the tags but I am so mad about a certain technology after a meeting about it and I don’t understand how anyone is giving it any credit at all
#just got off a zoom discussion of AI with faculty where I teach#I am boiling with rage (not at the faculty specifically just…about AI)#I don’t understand how anyone thinks generative AI can be used ethically when it scraped stuff from all over the internet#ppl say but humans do that amalgamation all the time YES AND THAT IS FUNDAMENTALLY DIFFERENT#I don’t trust tech companies and I don’t think tech will save us#the most legitimate uses of generative AI are as band aids over poor labor practices#and AI is only going to worsen the problem academia has of just replicating itself forever#bc the technology is just about giving the most common answers#ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I feel SO reactionary it’s uncomfortable?? like am I being a boomer abt this#but it’s SO dystopian?? when it comes to art and writing#okay#done ranting#personal
