one particular way mac is better (or just more relatable To Me) representation than most Gay Media that i have seen: when he was in his repression era, he referred to guys he was attracted to as "badass"
it's kinda different bc i'm trans (people wouldn't have been Horrified if i expressed attraction to men bc they would perceive it as heterosexuality) but being in a horribly strict baptist home, basically all sexuality was looked down upon/considered to be shameful, sinful, and Of The Flesh.
even though i have always accepted my queerness, the fact that i feel attraction at all has never Not been something i struggle with accepting. i always default to calling people ridiculous words like Cool or Epic. or i speak about it in a clinical way so that it seems more impersonal. (in the struggle, i've genuinely called people specimens) so seeing mac being obviously attracted to specific men, but finding ways to comment on their appearance without it seeming gay (to him).. it just feels real,
also, somewhat unrelated but i'm curious to know if anybody else in iasip spaces have seen the show "please like me", i'm not going to say it's similar but the shows are connected in my mind and are very important to me in similar ways
#also i'll just be straightforward: another thing i like about iasip and queerness is that none of the 'ships would be healthy#for many factors i just can't get comfy with Wholesome gay content#the lighthouse (2019) is like my ideal living scenario who Wouldnt want a hostile tense living environment#where you're going insaner isolated with A Guy ahaha#ahem mac and dennis move to the suburbs#oh also did anyone else's father refer to gay people exclusively as faggots#iasip
