First of all just some General Visual Parallels (ones that while I don't have any particular Thoughts or Deep Analysis on they're Neat :) (also they fit more into the overarching smoking trio parallels since Kazui has a matching one too) I'm sorry Kazui my blog is so biased orz)

Mfs when they hold the left side of their face while forcing out a pained smile (Although with Mikoto it's just his general lying/trying to brush off his own suffering while with Shidou we're looking at him at his most painfully honest) ((Also they both have phone calls in their songs which I think is Great))

Cool eye shots :) (Am I the only one who thinks Mikoto's eyes are very pretty :sob: ((Also now the entire smoking trio has one of these close up eye shots, I also love that Mikoto and Orekoto both get individual shots nobody gets left out (Ignoring the fact that they Disbanded)))

Okay but time for. My Actual Shitty Parallels Analysis bear with me guys here this is gonna get Messy,

Idk if I talked about this Before but Shidou and John (I'm sorry guys I Need to adjust to it I'm gonna call him John here) are both obviously extremely tied to their "purpose" of protecting people, specifically their loved ones (Shidou's Family/Mikoto). However they obviously go at it very Differently, John's method Is harmful (violence/killing) while Shidou's is supposed to be the complete Opposite (treating/healing).

There's also something interesting about their victims. I can't say for sure from Double if Multiple people were Actually murdered, but it seems to be portrayed that way by John at least; he and Shidou both portray themselves as having multiple victims, and they're also portrayed completely differently than their loved ones (Flowers/Tags, Mannequins, they're not entirely portrayed as people and have little to no identity, their lives were set aside to protect/save the ones they cared about)

(The environment in Shidou's MV is also very sterile and clean looking while John's is covered in blood. They're both surrounded by their representations of the lives they took)

From what we've seen this purpose is currently what basically makes or breaks their will/reason to live, these people are their entire worlds, if they can't even save the ones they care about they may as well have nothing, and what happened with that purpose of protecting?

Shidou's fails to protect/save his family and John fails to protect/save Mikoto, and their arcs with how they go Forward with this failure completely Kills Me

I fucking. Hrmghsdflbds these shots at the ends of their respective mvs are the shots that pretty much prompted this post. Shidou reaches out and, despite his failures, tries to push past his self-hatred and resolves to continue living and protecting others. Meanwhile, John closes in on himself with renewed self-hatred, and decides that it would be better off if he disappeared/went dormant.

We see John with the most Openly Distressed expression we've seen on him meanwhile Shidou has almost Cold Resolve

Shidou and John's arcs are going in completely opposite directions and that Breaks my Fucking Heart Man oh my God get me Out of here Get Me Out (I hope these shots also helps articulate that parallel I tried to make earlier about the different ways they go at protecting people? Shidou puts on new white, clean gloves meanwhile John's hands are completely coated in blood and just. Man,).

HELLO MARCH. welcome have a sit. Oh I have so much to say. Rae's job was chef kiss. I think it's an amazing story, and even the rpg itself is great if we keep in mind it was only supposed to be a university project (my projects suck ass so like wtf. Rae did amazing).

So yeah this got long uhm, sorry I guess? Bear with me for a sec.

AHEEM. anyway. so the story has quite a lot of references to real stories, most of them 2wink focus. Even some of the phrases itself were literal winks to them. I haven't played in a long time so I could not point out all the stories but I'm very sure shiny first years, sunshower festa, fruits parlor? were some, and of course, one of the main ones, Toyland.

See I could talk HOURS about Toyland, I have talked about that story before actually. like. 15 times I think I have posts scattered through my blog. Toyland is one of my fave 2wink stories so the fact that Rae chose it as such an important part of the story is. hhhhhwhwbbghhhdh. Many people think it's only a reference to the song (wonder wonder toyland. which is. still linked to Toyland story so yeah) BUT BUT BUTTT it has so much to do with the actual story too. I can summarize that Toyland is a story where Yuta and Hinata grow a bit apart and Yuta finds this strange confort in Yuzuru, since he thinks they're both the same. They're tied to a pink person who mistreats them sometimes they have issues communicating, and they feel trapped. This bond also happens with both Hinata and Tori who fear that their confort person will drift apart from them; so the fact that Rae chose that as a breaking point for Yuta to start realizing Hinata is gone and for Hinata to encounter the devil who says that he's hurting Yuta and that he should drift apart IS SO IMPORTANT. THE SYMBOLISM IS RIGHT THERE. BANGS HEAD AGAINST WALL.

If there's something I love about Looking Glass in general (other than the fact that I cried 5 times 👍) is the message. The fact that Yuta is not alone, "we will always be with you, we will always be your friends". Isn't that strong. Isn't that beautiful.

Also don't get me started with the butterfly symbolism because I will scream. Butterflies mean different things depending on the culture, but they can mean life as they can mean death and tragedy, in some places they even say black butterflies are the incarnation of the devil; but there's another meaning that they can have and that is hope. Yuta is surrounded by hope

Anyway no yeah I'm insane, Solis said on Twitter the other day that perhaps one day she may remake some things about the game and a Looking Glass 2.0 is everything I could ever wish for.

they are two sides of the same coin, and I do think they would make a great team collaborating their skills and talents together. Alastor knows Vox is insecure and otherwise hates his job which makes it easy for him to poke fun and rile him up. but i think alastor would help vox in finding and being passionate about it again

i do like to believe they physically fought for their big breakup. whether it was intention on Alastor's part to start a fight, I am still thinking about. but i do think it was meant to happen, and it gave Alastor a good excuse to fuck off for those 7 years he was gone. I also like to think Vox did land a good hit on him, and its one of the only scars Alastor has.

when they are throwing shots at one another, they are wildly witty and have cute, playful banter with one another. they can be quite corny and Alastor has no issue showcasing it when it comes to those he cares for. He loves to fluster Vox and make him blush, so he'll so whatever it takes to get those reactions out of him.

He'll never say it out but he did miss Vox, and was upset about how things ended even when he doesn't act like it. he doesn't really show those kinds of feelings, and in time they do talk and alastor expresses this to Vox.

The western is called Longmire! It's riveting to watch and had me invested the whole time!...but perhaps most importantly every character was UNBELIEVABLY ATTRACTIVE...to me...aheem. Its like if a western crime drama had those sanity bars you see in some video games, except no character, good or bad, had their sanity gauge over 70% at any given moment in all 6 seasons. They're all great at their jobs! But you ask anyone who's seen it about "the arc where every character's obsessions collide", they're probably gonna have a part in mind. They may have multiple parts in mind. You may like it. :)c
