i cant finish this one writing thing tonight my brain no longer works i need sleep but i am rotating dola and childe around in my brain like hello i cant wait to play the AQ this afternoon >.< and its showing in how i cant stop thinking abt themmmmsbdjsshjss

i’m like. having sooo so so much fun thinking abt dola and childe and how they only have each other (both tainted by the abyss and haunted by massive abyssal beasts, and a mentor they want to find but never can; both having their perception of violence and bloodlust warped to hell and back by their time in the abyss and only able to hold back bc theyre both humans who grew up in teyvat and can still tell that acts of violence need to have purpose; both aware of a certain something stirring within that they’re holding back; both marked by their lifeless eyes and needing to hide the truth)

(maybe they even promised each other that they’ll help each other deal with their respective haunting beasts. find their mentors. get answers.)

they only have each other but the paths theyve chosen have pulled them so far apart that they’ll never have that old closeness they had before ajax was childe and before dola returned to mond. dola cant bring herself to accept a man linked so closely to people who’ve torn apart the lives of people dear to her and childe won’t give up his loyalty to the tsaritsa and pursuit of power.

but thinking abt her going to fontaine to check in on him and even stay with him when he writes of his issues with that ‘bad mood’ of his. willing to fight her closest friends and beg them to just trust her and that she’s going to meet an old friend as himself and not a harbinger. childe catching on that she must’ve gone through a lot to be able to see him even if she wont say anything so he tries to make this easier on her as best he can. he’ll take care of her and keep her company and repay her for coming to see him, keep the fatui out of her business as much as possible. and eventually that bridge is repaired, slowly slowly slowly

but that closeness they had wont fully return no matter how much the both of them want it back. yet she’ll follow him to the fortress and he’ll insist that she should leave for her own good.

lia here~ i am curious ab your satan and solomon headcanon you mentioned in the tag, please do expand on it! i seriously cant get enough of these mfs lol. also, satan fun fact: (not sure if you were the one who said it on your blog, also not sure if this is really true) someone made a post here or on twitter that when satan shows us "sir cat" in that one devilgram, in the jp version he actually called it "catan" aaaaaaa!!!

Anyway that headcanon of Satan being jealous of Solomon… Is super headcanony and self-indulgent lol And heads up lots of spoilers for assorted Devilgrams and some of S3

So like… That headcanon kind of hinges on the idea that Satan gets jealous of those he thinks are better than him in the ways he wishes he were.

Solomon’s apparently able to stand on his own against Lucifer, posing as a legitimate challenge during the times they’ve sparred and also thinks up new spells and experiments for fun with Diavolo. Just being able to combat Lucifer is something Satan can’t do because the power gap between even just Lucifer and Mammon seems massive, and I have a feeling that Lucifer bars him from taking part of Diavolo and Solomon’s magical messes. There are also classes where Solomon does better than Satan, and I think Sol’s got as many human (and some demon) connections as Satan has demon connections. Solomon even eventually takes over as MC’s mentor once they’re out of the Devildom and starting their journey to become a sorcerer, taking one of Satan’s bigger roles from him too.

Alongside the natural human empathy and emotional intelligence that Solomon has that Satan doesn’t (considering he’s felt just anger and hatred for almost all his existence until he grew close to MC), there’s also the chance that he probably knew of the brothers while they were angels (since apparently Michael was keeping an eye on Solomon even pre-Fall), his status as the most powerful sorcerer in all of humanity, and the fact that he’s not at risk of blowing up on MC if he lets himself slip up, and that Solomon lives up in the human world with MC—I don’t know, to me there’s just plenty for Satan to be jealous of. Solomon’s managed to pull a fast one on Lucifer and shrunk him down to a very tiny size without breaking a sweat ffs, that sounds like something Satan just dreams of.

And to me the kicker is that he actually respects Solomon and likes him. They’re friends and they even have the Cat (3) group chat where it’s those two + MC. Satan doesn’t have any issue with MC being Solomon’s apprentice because he knows Sol would take good care of them, and there’s hints of their super lowkey but cute friendship all throughout the main story, Devilgrams, and even in the RAD Newsletter with Sol being the one to help Satan pick out his human world outfit.

This is where it gets really self indulgent because in my head it’s very much like being jealous of your good friend when he’s with your partner, who he’s also good friends with. Solomon’s not like Lucifer where he’s tried to kill MC twice or has a penchant for being overbearing and controlling—he’s a really interesting, complex human being that just wants the best for MC and gets to spend a lot of time with them while Satan’s stuck in the Devildom with Lucifer.

And I guess just by being human, he already has a lot more in common in terms of culture and experience with MC, which probably furthers Satan’s feeling of being alienated—he’s already the black sheep in his family as the only pure demon who was never an angel, and with Solomon and MC he’s the only non-human there who probably doesn’t understand a lot of human idiosyncrasies.

Idk those are my thoughts and it’s not as coherent as my other posts probably since I’ve never had to articulate them before like this lmao Like I said it’s really self indulgent and made with my MC in mind
