How have I never noticed this before?

Scrolling through another fandom's tag a while back, I encountered a few anon asks warning people of the perils of bringing up RPF/shipping to the individuals who inspire it. While I agree with the sentiment, this person didn't choose a good example to go with it: Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins.

The gist of it was that this issue caused them to stop talking and even to refuse to do events together for a long time.

Which is blatantly untrue, for one:

And secondly, why would it cause such a rift between Jensen and Misha when it didn't cause it between Jared and Jensen? I think you might have been misled by someone with an agenda...

So. Anon, you probably won't see this but I'll give you my advice anyway: if you really care about the topic, I'd find another example because this one works against you, if anything.

Top 10 of protective and jealous boys.. 5 of Jensen, 5 of Jared ♥️♥️😉

So....this got long 😅 

I wasn’t sure if you meant combined moments of the boys being protective and jealous or if you meant 5 of both so I did 5 of both!

First up protective moments

Protective!Jared:

1. Jared (and the cast) crashing Jensen and M’s panel. JIB8.

Jensen had been having a hard time emotionally during this day and he was struggling during this panel, so Jared had the cast crash the panel and give Jensen a big group hug.   

2. Jared standing up for Jensen to a rude fan. LACon 2011. 

Back in 2011, Jensen wasn’t attending East coast conventions, or at least the majority of them, but Jared was and a fan very rudely asked Jensen why he didn’t attend East coast conventions. While Jensen was trying to explain the difficulties of flying to a location to the East coast and back to Van in time to film, the fan interrupts him to say that Jared does it, at which point, after looking stunned for a second, Jared jumps in to defend Jensen and explain that they couldn’t attend cons that would risk delaying production. I don’t know of any gifs of it but you can watch the moment here: Jared defending Jensen. LACon 2011.

3. Mini protective!Jared moment EWPopfest 2016.

Does my enjoyment of this moment come from Jared acting protective, or is it cause he’s doing so while looking like a hot bodyguard? The world will never know

4. Some protective!Jared at DCCon 2017.

This is more of a cute protective!Jared moment. A fan asked about what drink would represent the boys best and then sounded a bit angry when Jensen was thinking of a reply.

5. Protective Jared calming Jensen down by...rubbing his chest and shoulder. Pittcon 2016.

A fan asked Jensen why he hadn’t been at the concert the night before to which Jensen replied he was on a flight on his way to the convention and Jared...proceeded to rub his chest and shoulder because that’s...totally how buddies soothe each other and not a husband move at all....

Protective!Jensen

1. Jensen telling a fan to take down a FB page that blamed Jared for everything. Vegascon 2013.

Back in 2013 a fan’s mom apparently had a FB page called “I blame Jared Padalecki for everything...good” thing is the fan left out the “good” part and even proceeded to ask Jared how it feels to be blamed for everything! It should come as a surprise to no one that Jensen was not okay with this at all and got noticeably pissed off.

2. Jensen crashing Jared’s supposed to be solo panel. JIB9.

I’ve talked about this so many times y’all are probably tired of it but honestly? I don’t give a fuck this moment was beautiful and sweet and you can pry it out of my cold, dead hands! Jared was supposed to have had a solo panel but he hadn’t been feeling very well he had said it in the j2 panel (which is when the moment in the first gif happened) as well as reportedly mentioning it during photo ops so when the time for his solo panel came, Jensen crashed the panel to distract and take care of his boy for a while along with Rob and Richard. 

3.  This hug from JIB7. 

Do I even need to say anything? Jensen’s protective expression, the way he pulls Jared in close, how Jared naturally tucks himself into Jensen’s arms, Jensen wearing an AKF shirt 😭

4. Jensen checking up on Jared during the JIB9 Orion Concert.

Jared got emotional during Brianna’s performance at the concert and Jensen went to check up on him. 

5. Jensen telling others to back off his boy and give Jared some space. 2018.

During the 2018 CW Upfronts Jensen shared that the year before the event had been so hot that Jared was sweating and then got anxious about sweating so much so he started sweating even more so he pulled him aside to cool down and when people tried to rush them he told them no because Jared needed to cool down. 

Now for jealousy! 

Jealous!Jared:

1. Jealousy at the Red Carpet. Saturn Awards 2016.

I love how Jared seems to do a double take like ‘Jensen why is somebody else making you laugh?’ before jumping to get Jensen’s attention

2. When you start off being jokingly jealous and then almost give you and your husband away. Vegascon 2019.

What I love is that he tries to say it in a joking way but his face is anything but

Jealous!Jensen:

1. Jensen being noticeably jealous during. AHBL 2009.

This moment is iconic in j2 history; it was obvious how jealous Jensen was and to top it all off when Jared went to get his shirt signed by him, Jensen signed it right over Jared’s heart. 

2. Rob was clinging on too tightly to Jared for Jensen’s liking. Vegascon 2017.

3. Jensen was all laughter...until he saw Jared kissing Richard’s cheek. Burcon 2013.

Please look at the full gifset, Jensen just kept looking more and more jealous and this was early on in their relationship; from here rises the question: was Dean jealous of Sarah or was that Jensen jealous of Taylor? Both. It’s both.

The one I stumbled across recently was a video of J2 during the 2013 people’s choice awards.  Watch from around 0:46 seconds (especially if you want to skip the wife mention). It happens a few times, at least two. It's real blink and you’ll miss it moments. But very special if you catch them.

PS: If you watch the whole thing keep a eye on Jensen’s reaction to the wife mention. Although he seems really upbeat and happy for most of the video, there is a visible shift when Jared talks about Gen. And, honestly it kind of breaks my heart a little.

Okay, next is the season two gag reel. Gosh, I love this gag reel so much. Jensen is so obviously head over heels for Jared. It is just adorable.

This last one always gets me cause he so busy staring at Jared that he literally almost falls! And when he recovers he just goes right back to staring!

Then there is that very memorable moment at AHBL where Jensen sings free falling.  Jensen just full out stares at Jared for what feels like the first part of the song.  The whole thing is just so romantic and lovely!

One of my favourite things about j2 is when Jensen gets so mesmerised by Jared that he literally loses track of time and keeps staring at Jared for a few moments. He literally has to shake himself out of it.
