僕 (boku) is a casual way of saying 'I' usually used by males. it's not as rough as 俺 (ore) but it's not as polite as 私 (watashi) SIDE NOTE JAMES IS EXACTLY THE SORT OF FUCKBOI TO USE NOT ONLY 俺 BUT 俺様 BECAUSE HE RIDES HIS OWN DICK THAT HARD but i digress

anyway in JP animated media, especially kids' media, pronouns are used a lot to convey something about character. there's actually a pronoun that's used by old man characters. like, exclusively by old man characters and old man characters almost always use it. it's ワシ (washi). the og topham h uses washi so we know the usual convention of ワシ being the old man pronoun applies here too. but that shit don't be spillin from ed's mouth he's too busy being a boku

Why is there such a huge emphasis on Edward's 'old age' amongst fans and sometimes in the series itself, but more importantly, fan depictions of him as this decrepit old man. He's at most 17 years older than James. Look at this guy's face, he's like, the face of eternal youthful beauty. And don't get me wrong, I like describing/thinking of him as older, it gives his struggles and his dedication more merit and weight, but he's not anyone's peepaw by any means. People act like this poor guy was made in 1806 as opposed to earliest 1896.
