If you've got something to say then come at me on main instead of sockpuppets babe. Or even better, go outside, take a breath of fresh air and do something that makes you happy instead of bullying kids on tumblr dot com.

It can take a lot of courage to take that first step with anxiety. If you're not comfortable going straight into a customer facing role you can ask about behind-the-scenes stuff, even if it's just doing some paperwork or cleaning the exhibits. It might be easier to start out of the way and get comfortable with the environment before working your way up to dealing with lots of people. Remember there's no such thing as a stupid question. No one starts off knowing everything about steam locos. They're complex bits of machinery and asking questions is the best way to learn. Once you have your foot in the door and if it's something undertaken at your Heritage Establishment of Choice, I highly recommend asking if you can watch a shunt.
If you enjoy trains and want to "give back" to rail while learning more about them (including getting more familiar and able to identify the different classes and how they work) why not volunteer at a heritage railway near you? Rail 200 is coming up in 2025, it's a great time to get involved.
Hi!! Awesome ask, pretty funny actually, I've grown up in a town with a really rich history in railways, and plan on doing some volunteer work at a local museum, it's an environment I'm very familiar with and not too far away ! They do education-based stuff for young school children, and offer school trips as well as having a cafe, and its a start to getting used to working around other people. Once I'm more comfortable in social environments, id love to look into doing more work and volunteering, and its definitely something I'll look into!! It's just the small steps to overcoming my social anxiety and general anxiety around work and stuff, yk? This is kinda a rough response, I'll probably edit stuff later
