They hesitated. They had managed to carry the weight of their responsibilities perfectly fine on their own for more years than they cared to count. Why in the name of the gods were they now opening up to some mere mortal, one whom they had exchanged little more than a few sentences with?

But there was something in the way that Polites had not interrupted them once. In the way that each time he spoke, his voice was soft and unassuming in a way that was startlingly unfamiliar to Tiresias, but in no way unwelcome.

So they told him.
