NAHHH I DON'T WANNA GO HOMEEEEEE TvT
Basically I have been travelling since Tuesday, and today is finally the day I'm returning back to Mumbai. So, me and my family had come for a short trip to Delhi and one day to Agra, and it was so mesmerizing!! My mom was so elated when she could finally catch a glimpse of her childhood place, i.e, East of Kailash in Delhi! :D
These days were so fun, istg. I went inside Qutb Minar (and yeah, ofc Chand Sifarish was going on in my mind), Red Fort (Diwan-i-aam had the place where the Emperor sat and addressed his people, yk, an elevated area like we can see in the movie Jodhaa Akbar, his aasan was kept down so that we could have a glimpse of it, it was made out of marble. Entry wasn't allowed inside Diwan-i-khaas, but the intricate designs and carvings of marble there would just keep anyone wondering how the people of that time had such amazing skills when technology wasn't available, and yes, the most amazing part is, EVERYTHING WAS FREAKING HAND-MADE!!!!), Lotus temple (it's beautiful from the outside, but there wasn't really anything to explore inside since it's just a huge prayer room where people came to meditate and pray). We caught glimpses of the India Gate, Rajpath, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Supreme Court, and ofc, a posche area like Connaught Place couldn't be missed!! We explored well-known market places like Karol Bagh, Lajpat Nagar and Sarojini Market.
Now coming to Agra. Our travelling time from Delhi to Agra was around 3.5 hours as we travelled through the expressway. Visited the grand Taj Mahal that day itself, and that sight took over my heart! It looks even more beautiful in reality than it does in pictures! Got to know a lot about the place, the designs which were made of gemstones, visited Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal's tombs inside (photography inside wasn't allowed), and so much more which I can't really explain in detail via this post. The next day, we went to Agra Fort, which covered about 3 km in area (yes it's that huge). Only 25% of the Fort is open for public, the rest of 75% has been occupied by the Indian Army, but just the 25% of the Fort really told us about the history of the Mughals. Mehtaab Bagh, where Shah Jahan wanted to build a black Taj Mahal for him, was visible from the Agra Fort. Building Taj Mahal required 60% of their wealth, and the leftover could not have been used to build another Taj Mahal, hence it could not be completed, and today, we can only see the platform which could be built only.
Fact - their security measures were insane. The front side of the Fort had huge gorges where crocodiles and Gharials were kept. There was also a small area of dense trees having wild animals ahead the gorge. So that means, any intruder who came inside would be instantly killed by these animals. Wild! These animals were kept hungry the whole night and given food in the morning intentionally so that they remain vigilant, hungry and ferocious the whole night in case anyone tries to enter and attack.
Yep, the days went like this!!
😄😄😁😁

As you approach the gates, the anticipation builds, and the first glimpse of the Taj Mahal through the main entrance is nothing short of magical.
Exploring the Taj Mahal
Built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, The Taj Mahal is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture. The white marble mausoleum, adorned with intricate carvings and precious stone inlays, stands majestically on the banks of the Yamuna River. As you walk through the meticulously landscaped gardens, the grandeur of the structure unfolds, revealing its symmetrical beauty and detailed craftsmanship.Take time to explore the main mausoleum, the mosque, and the guest house, all of which showcase the exquisite artistry of the period. Inside the mausoleum, the cenotaphs of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal lie surrounded by intricate marble screens, adding to the sense of reverence and solemnity.####
Photography Tips
Capturing the Taj Mahal in all its glory can be a photographer's delight. The soft morning light provides the perfect conditions for stunning photos. The classic reflection shot from the central pool is a must, but don't hesitate to explore different angles and perspectives. The Taj Mahal's beauty is such that every shot has the potential to be a masterpiece.
Lunch and Local Cuisine

The Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers a fascinating glimpse into the city's rich history and provides stunning views of the Taj Mahal from a distance. Another notable site is the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, often referred to as the "Baby Taj," which prefigures many aspects of the Taj Mahal's design

City of Love: Agra
In 1983, the Taj Mahal was selected as one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites after having been constructed in the 17th century. The city of Agra may be found in India. It is generally agreed upon that the Taj Mahal is the best example of Mughal architecture that can be found anyplace in the globe. The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum that was built in the 16th century. In the middle of the 17th century, the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan had it built for his most beloved wife, Mumtaz Maal. The construction was commissioned by Shah Jahan.
In terms of population, Agra is one of the most populated cities in the state of Uttar Pradesh and holds the position of the 24th most populous city in all of India. Agra is a well-known travel destination due to the significant number of structures that date back to the Mughal Empire. Since the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri are all listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, tourists are strongly encouraged to check out all three of these locations during their time in India. One of the nicknames for Agra is "the city of love." The Taj Mahal, which is a building that embodies one of the most well-known love stories to come out of medieval India, rises towering here, which is the reason why this place is called by its current name. The rationale for this meaning has changed over the years, and it now takes into account the individuals who contribute to the personality of this city as a city of love. Originally, this definition referred to the city itself.

The Pushkar Fair Experience in Rajasthan
Are you ready for an adventure that promises to be vibrant, exciting, and full of unforgettable moments? Look no further than the Pushkar Fair in Rajasthan! This annual festival isn’t just an event; it’s an experience that brings together locals and travelers from around the world for a celebration like no other. From breath taking camel parades to traditional music and dance, the Pushkar Fair has something for everyone. If you’re seeking a unique cultural experience that you can brag about later, keep reading because this is one fair you absolutely cannot miss!
Why is the Pushkar Fair a Must-Visit?
Nestled around the sacred Pushkar Lake, the Pushkar Fair is one of India’s largest camel and livestock fairs, attracting thousands of visitors every year. It usually takes place in October or November, coinciding with the auspicious Kartik Purnima, making it a significant time for locals and pilgrims alike. The atmosphere is electric, filled with the sounds of laughter, music, and the hustle and bustle of traders showcasing their goods.
The fair is more than just a marketplace; it's a cultural extravaganza! Picture yourself amidst a kaleidoscope of colors as you stroll through the bustling streets filled with vibrant stalls selling everything from handicrafts to delicious street food. It's like stepping into a dream where every corner is filled with something new and exciting to explore.
The Camel Caravan
Let’s be real; what makes the Pushkar Fair so special? The camels, of course! One of the main attractions of the fair is the impressive camel trading. Vendors from all over bring their beautifully adorned camels to sell and showcase. Imagine the sight of camels dressed in colorful saddles and jewelry, parading around with their
proud owners!
You can get up close and personal with these gentle giants, maybe even take a camel ride for yourself. Trust me; there’s nothing quite like swaying atop a camel while enjoying the panoramic views of the fair and the stunning desert landscape. Don't forget to snap a few pictures for your Instagram feed. Your friends will definitely be jealous!
Cultural Festivities
Now, let’s talk about the cultural aspect of the Pushkar Fair. The festival is alive with traditional music and dance performances that celebrate Rajasthani heritage. From folk singers to dancers twirling in colorful attire, the energy is contagious.
One of the highlights is the “Matka Phod” competition, where participants compete to break pots while blindfolded, it's as hilarious to watch as it is to participate! You might even find yourself laughing along with the crowd, caught up in the excitement.
Moreover, the fair offers spiritual experiences too. Pushkar is home to one of the few Brahma temples in the world, and many pilgrims visit to offer prayers and perform rituals. The serene environment around Pushkar Lake during sunset is an experience that will touch your soul, creating a sense of peace that’s hard to find in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Shopping Extravaganza
Let’s face it, who doesn’t love a little shopping spree? The Pushkar Fair is a shopaholic's paradise! You’ll find stalls filled with handmade jewelry, vibrant textiles, and intricate handicrafts that reflect the rich culture of Rajasthan.
Wander around and haggle with local artisans who are more than happy to share the stories behind their crafts. It’s a chance to take home a piece of Rajasthan's culture and maybe even make some friends along the way! Don’t forget to grab some camel-shaped souvenirs or traditional Rajasthani outfits to remember your experience by.
Delicious Delights
As you explore the fair, your taste buds will be in for a treat! The local street food is a major highlight of the Pushkar Fair. Picture this: hot, crispy kachoris, spicy aloo tikki, and sweet jalebis melting in your mouth. The aroma of the food stalls fills the air, making it impossible to resist trying a little bit of everything.
You’ll also want to try the local specialty, Pushkar’s famous sweet, “Mohan Thal.” It’s a must-have! Share your food finds on social media, and trust us, your friends will be salivating with envy.
Creating Lasting Memories
What truly sets the Pushkar Fair apart is the sense of community and connection you’ll feel during your visit. You’ll meet fellow travelers and locals, each with their own unique stories and experiences to share. Whether you're exchanging travel tips with someone from a different country or dancing to the rhythm of folk music with a local, these moments create bonds that transcend borders.
How to Prepare for Your Pushkar Fair Adventure
Now that you’re excited about experiencing the Pushkar Fair, here are some tips to make the most of your visit:
1. Plan Your Visit: Check the dates of the fair in advance to ensure you don’t miss out. Booking accommodations early is a good idea, as places fill up quickly.
2. Dress Comfortably: The desert can get chilly at night, so wear layers. Comfortable shoes are a must since you’ll be doing a lot of walking.
3. Stay Hydrated: Bring a water bottle and keep hydrated, especially while exploring the bustling fairgrounds.

History of Agra’s Monuments
This city has a rich history, even mentioned in the great epic Mahabharata Agravan, meaning’the forest of Agra. But the golden age of cities began in the Mughal Empire. Credit goes to Akbar the Great, who built this modern city of Agra on the bank of the Yamuna River.
Agra Fort (1573)
During Akber’s era, this city became the political and cultural capital of the Mughal Empire. He built several monuments, which include Agra Fort (1573), which is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. The fort is made up of red sandstone and various mosques, palaces, and gardens are situated inside the fort. This fort includes various features include Diwan-i-aam, Diwan-e-khas, and Moti Masjid.
Itmad-ud-Daulah (1628)
Even During his son Jahangir’s regime, Agra remained an important city of India. But It was Nur Jahan, the wife of Emperor Jahangir, who was considered a de facto ruler. Itmad-ud-Daulah (1628), also known as the ‘Baby Taj,’ was built by empress Nur Jahan in the memory of her father, Mirza Ghiyas Beg. The structure is surrounded by a beautiful garden and various courtyards.
Taj Mahal (1653)
However, It was Shah Jahan, the successor of Jahangir, who built one of the most iconic structures and also a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Taj Mahal (1653), in the memory of her wife, Mumtaj Mahal. Taj Mahal is not just a monument but also a symbol of Indian tourism and contributes to the economy of the city of Agra. It is considered the seventh wonder of the world. According to some historians, Shah Jahan was also planning to build the Black Taj Mahal, but it didn’t happen.
Mehtab Bagh (Early 17th Century)
Along with the Taj Mahal, Shah Jahan is also known for the construction and design of a beautiful garden known as ‘Mehtab Bagh in the early 17th century. It is located on the opposite side of the Yamuna River from the Taj Mahal, where you can see a stunning view of the beauty of the Taj Mahal. The garden is designed in traditional Mughal style.
These beautiful monuments in Agra not only represent the grandeur of the Mughal Empire but also attract millions of visitors from around the world.
