SONG OF THE CRIMSON NILE: I'll Take Care of You
Y'all, I had a theory, it's sad but I am writing about it!
~~~
What if in one of the endings, Evyths sacrifices herself protecting her loved ones, and her LI ends up finding her body when they all have a moment's celebration but cannot see their victor? imagine their reactions
AGNIA
She'd have an immediate breakdown upon seeing her beloved's body. She'd spring to Eva's side, along with the rest of the company, in shock at seeing her slowly fading into the afterlife.
"No, no, no!" She drops her knife and picks her up. "Don't you dare, Eva! You can't die, NOT NOW!"
Eva's eyes slowly shut, and she smiles painly. She asks Agnia to take care of her friends and pets, telling her she'll always love her.
Agnia holds her in her arms, comforting her as she dies. Tears drip onto her face as she kisses her one last time, asking for the Gods to watch over her in the afterlife.
There'd be a timeskip, and Agnia would be working for the pharoah, often visiting the school and Eva's friends. In her room, Polyb, Omphis, or Afifi would come strolling at her side, and she'd hold them, resting her head against theirs.
AMEN
He'd be the most stoic, but nonetheless heartbroken. He'd take Eva's hand, wishing her a safe passage and promising to take care of her pets and loved ones. When she'd die, he would then hold her body in her arms, carrying her away and giving her a proper funeral worthy of a hero.
Sometime later, during a timeskip, we see that he started his own army of sheshmu/epistates and stopped working for the pharoah. He is on top of a hill with Evyth's ashes, spreading them throughout Egypt.
Polyb, Omphis, or Afifi then stroll to his side, and Amen would caress their head, or stroke Polyb's feathers holding out his arm for the falcon to land.
LIVIUS
He tries to heal Eva's wounds, but it is in vain. He is in shock when she asks him to watch over her friends and pets, smiling before she dies in his arms. Angry magic currents sweeps through him in red, unleashed in waves as he screams in grief and anger to the skies. He yells that he wants her back before resting his head against hers, tears streaming down his face.
During a time skip, we see that he continues to travel as a healer, but this time Isman and Dia go with him performing sheshmu commisssions in Eva's honor. He walks out of a tent, and he smiles wide when he sees Omphis, Polyb, or Afifi, asking if their hunt went well. He bends down and strokes their fur/feathers.
RAMESSES
He sits near Eva's side, yelling for Livius to hurry with his magic, but she grabs his hand and refuses, asking that he look after her friends and pets. Ramesses promises, and she asks him to kiss her one last time before she passes away in his arms. As a sheshmu, he is able to see her spirit. She intertwines her fingers in his, telling him one last time she loves him before vanishing into the afterlife.
During a timeskip, he takes over for his brother as teacher for future sheshmu coming into training. He, Dia, and Isman all come together, laughing and reminiscing about their time with Eva. Omphis, Polyb, or Afifi would stroll to the table, and he'd throw them a piece of food as they curl against his feet.
The song of the crimson Nile also have:
Agnia
Girlboss stereotype but actually likeable.
So right now as LI we have Amen, Ramesses, Agnia and Livius.
SPOILER!
The redhead from my previous review hadn't appeared again. But it seems like he's the bad news I was expecting. I don't wanna spoil the plot but Anubis claimed a soul that I wish it wasn't them and I think bad news Brian is related to it.
END OF SPOILER
........
I had to be fast in order to take this screenshot. I'm proud.
I saw some people complaining about his character being too toxic a relationship to have. I see why.
He's my favorite slow burn that can kill me while the tension is so high we can cut it with a knife kind of love interest. I want it.
Is that healthy? Nope.
Do I want this in real life? No.
Me seeing their scenes is like: "just kiss already!"
The expectations are high
I'm expecting a kiss this hot. No pressure!
Next time I can I'm playing Psi.
Confession:
Even as a straight player, I'm tired of feeling like female LI's are only included out of obligation as the sidelined 'friends to lovers' trope. There are so many male LI's that feel like the main character of the story, and the right choice to romance narratively (Amen, Amrit, Malbonte), while so many female LI's are just the friend you can date if you want (Mimi, Lima, Anna, etc).
I wish more authors would start making female LI's that have agency and an integral role to play in the story outside of being MC's friend/forced diversity hire lesbian
