said jobs basically being,, in charge of,,, unleashing people to raid entire towns and burn them to the ground

they grew up side by side, have always been best friends, never seen without each other

but understandably when they started growing up and understanding what was going on around them it,,,,,,, troubled them

and they dealed with it Very Differently

albert did Not like it

he was angry, and he was sad that this was what he was supposed to become and he was already never close with his family so it wasn't really hard for him to decide he didn't want anything to do with them anymore

deep inside him race knew what was going on was,,, s o wrong

but race was also from a big tight family, it was so much easier for him to just,,,,,, shut all of that out and pretend he was just doing what was better for them

still you can understand how well it went for them when albert left and race refused to go with him

there were people actively fighting him too but the newsies were mostly in charge of that

well, until albert and his non-existent impulse control arrived anyways

cause look,,,,, race was being trained for a reason, and eventually he took over

so when you see this ur ex-best friend who you're in love with but have a lot of repressed feelings for, both good and bad, that you decide to dump in the 'im angry' pile and just pretend you hate him and no longer care about him,,,,, fighting occurs

and there was a bit of controversy about albert joining them because "it's the dasilva boy romeo he was specifically trained to kick our asses" but that slowly turns into "yea ok he's very legit but for the love of god someone s t o p him the next time he tries to kiLL SOMEONE-"

that's a hyperbole, of course. even as rivals, albert wouldn't kill race. he barely even hurts him.

if anything, he even kind of looks out for him

he knows he's not supposed to but somehow he still can't bring himself to let race get hurt

besides let's be honest, most of their encounters are just an excuse to bitch at each other, they'd never do anything they know would seriously hurt the other

they know each other pretty well, they grew up together, they know each other's strengths and weaknesses

which is a pretty big advantage for them, honestly

which leads us to how once race eventually does get hurt, seriously hurt, literally no one bats an eye when albert returns with race unconscious, demanding they get him help

which they do, cause albert has not shut up about race for like one second, the newsies might as well know as much about him as albert did

naturally when race woke up he,,, had questions

and then he saw albert

he was sat on a chair next to him, sleeping

and this is the first time he's seen him like this in ages

and he gets a little chocked up because holy shit he almost forgot albert was,,,,,like,,, a person

and it wasn't necessary to only see him when fighting

he still had a life and friends and people he loved and he wasn't just this dude who left them because he didn't give a shit about anyone

he could genuinely care for people and he could love people and race just remembered how much he wished he could be one of those people

and how much he wished he could be albert's favorite person again and just sit and talk and laugh with him like they used to

cause that's a part of albert he'd forced himself to just forget about

and then al wakes up and he sees him looking up at him and he's like

"how're you feeling"

and then he's sad cause it's much harder to know albert is a good person with real feelings and he's capable of loving so much and race thinks he's just one of the people who will never get that side of him and he just

"fuck off"

they fight

because of course they do

they're not really sure on what terms they are at this point, and there's so much they need to get out there

at first race is just,,,, stubborn

he won't listen, he demands they let him go back

"we can just let you go, idiot, i shouldn't have ever brought you here in the first place!"

"then why did you?"

and al just shrugs it away as if he hasn't been in love with him for years and would never forgive himself if he left him there to bleed

they just go yelling at each other back and forth for a while until inevitably albert's non-existent impulse control makes his return

and he,,,,, very angrily tells him he loves him

and everything just stops cause that's the one thing race though he'd never hear him say again

and race is literally holding his breath cause he's scared he'll ruin it if he moves in the slightest and it'll all turn out to be in his head but it's not cause when he tells albert he loves him back he's still there and he just,,

takes race's face in his hands and kisses him so softly it's like they weren't just screaming at each other's faces

romeo just fuckin pokes his head in like "i heard yelling but i also heard i love you so i'll assume some of those unresolved feelings were let out and we're all ready to have a nice long healthy chat, yeah? :D"

so they do

they talk. for,,,,,,,,, a long time.

he loves his family and maybe he'll be back for them, maybe he'll help them but he recognizes what's the priority here

plus it's a little clearer now that he doesn't have all those feelings to worry about, and it's been a while since he was actually accepted and loved, which the newsies did instantly. it's pretty obvious where he belongs now.

I feel like the first time I read thru I like this arc a lot cause I actually understood most of it hbvhadjkfbaksjf unlike all the previous stuff, where I was a bit more confused - at this point I at least had a decent grasp on the characters and relationships, so that helped a lot

also apparently one of the songs of this issue is ‘heaven’ by talking heads which AUghhH that song makes me wanna float in the ocean and look at the stars. idk. also I find it a little ironic that that song isn't off the album remain in light lol

Richie trying to impress you and the typical cliche shit you would find in highschool movies.

          “Oh my god Eddie stop it!” You whispered as you tried to defend yourself from the flying popcorn being thrown at you in the movie theater. “You payed to watch this now stoooop” You grabbed the popcorn bag from him, “But I’m hungry Y/n!” He called out. “Fine” You said with a smile as you gave him back the food. You guys went back to watching the movie that was scaring the crap out of both of you. He ended up holding your hand the entire during the movie, you would squeeze his hand from fear and he would look at you cutely. You would just melt from the soft boy that was beside you the entire day long. He felt like a dream that was too surreal and perfect to happen in your lifetime. He was the moon and stars to you. 

              When you guys were leaving the somewhat crowded movie theater it was pouring down rain, and the drive back to your house was calming from just looking outside of the car’s window. “You okay?” Eddie said as he quickly looked over at you still trying to focus on driving. “Yeah” You smiled. “Good”. 

                     The next day during school it was weird, everyone looked at you differently. This freaked you out a little bit, like seriously for all we know someone could have said I have fucking cancer. Even your friends that were like family to you acted differently. “Is everything okay?” You asked Bill, “R-Richie” He muttered as he scratched the back of his neck. You sighed and rolled your eyes a bit when he said his name. You knew Richie had to have said something about you since you were earning inconsiderate looks from a bunch of people, “What did he do this time” You asked while closing your locker. You huffed quietly preparing yourself for the mass destruction Richie always causes. “H-he said so-something about y-you” Bill stuttered out. “Well that’s just lovely, right Bill? Richie will just have to see what happens next” you said with a sarcastic fake smile. “Oh n-no Y/n please don’t go talk to him a-about this”, before you could walk away Eddie walked up to you and Bill. “Hey guys” he said with a smile on his face. “Hey..” you said. Eddie furrowed his eyebrows. “She knows” Bill mouthed to Eddie, he nodded then you looked at both of them. “Seriously” You said with a scoff then walked off to go to your 4th period. “She sometimes reminds me of a salty witch” Richie said as he walked up to them looking at Bill and Richie as they were watching you walk off. “Dude seriously” Eddie said as he looked at Richie and hit his shoulder lightly. “Whatever”

     During lunchtime you sat at your regular table with Stanley and Mike, you didn’t know each other like an open book that well but you still knew each other existed. And it only happened because of that one day when you met them when Eddie dragged you to meet them. He thought you would like them all and you did, but this did cause some fights. Like when Bill said you were giving off “Bad vibes” or when Richie said that you were hot. You just shook off those comments that you received and kept your head up. You liked the group and wanted to join in, and you did thanks to Eddie. “Hey guys” You said smiling as you set your food tray on the table and sat down. “Did you hear?” Stan said as soon as possible when you sat next to him and in front of Mike. “About what?” You poked at your food for a bit before eating a baby carrot. “Seriously, how does she not know…Literally the entire school is talking about what ‘he’ said” Stan gave Mike the look of “Shut up” and Mike shrugged it off. “Richie?” Stanley said trying to see if you already knew. You rolled your eyes from the annoyance of everyone trying to tell you about this. “I know he said something about me but I don’t know what the hell the walking trashbag said” “Language” Mike mumbled. “Does Eddie know?” Stan nodded as he started to eat some of the school food. Stan finished eating and so did you, but Mike was going up to the lunch line to get more food. You shook your head and slightly giggled. “So…What did he say?” You said as you looked at him

     “Do you really want me to say?” Stanley said then Mike got back to the table and sat down putting his bag of chips and bottled water on the table. “To be honest, this kind of feels like a dream. I would never think of Richie to do this to me…” You sighed when you said that. “It’s going to be fine Y/n” Mike said with a weak smile. You smiled back. “Y/n, Richie said that you were a basic-” He paused for a moment looking at you making direct eye contact “he said that you were a basic b-bitch who doesn’t deserve Eddie” They both looked at you for your reaction. Your emotions were ready to explode but you hide them, “S-seriously?” You didn’t know how to react with all the million emotions and thoughts. “But Y/n, people are just quick to believe the bad things they hear about good people. So it could be just a rumor…” Mike said quickly just to help tend to the scars that were just caused by a close friend. 

         The rest of the day you were wordless but tried to act ‘okay’. You tried to convince yourself that he was just jealous your relationship with Eddie. Even when your walk home with Eddie, Bill, Mike, Stan, Ben, and even Richie it was quiet and some small talk was made. Eddie tried to hold your hand but you flinched at the touch of his soft hand making contact with you. “S-so” Bill said trying to break the awkward tension. Everyone knew what happened and you felt like the center of attention, you hated being the center of attention. The first one to get to their house quickly was Ben then Mike. Richie had seemed to have the same mixed feelings as you. You kind of regretted ever joining their friend group. “Y/n? Are you coming home with me?” Eddie said quietly to you as you were walking close to his house. You snapped back into reality when Bill nudged you trying to get your attention back to Eddie. “S-sure” You said.
