In 2016 The American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare identified 12 areas as social workers and social change agents we must focus on within our society to assist in the betterment of our social environment for all. I can proudly say I take my oath seriously as a licensed clinical social worker in my home state of Colorado and as a licensed independent clinical social worker associate in my state current state of residence Washington to work within these areas. To be a social worker to me is to be a caring, compassionate human. I challenge my fellow humans to whom may not be formerly trained as a social worker to look over these and become a social change agent by thinking of ways you can volunteer your time at a local nonprofit serving the populations mentioned. Or to take a stand within your work place or family system to no longer put up with behaviors you are seeing as perpetuating inequality or are unjust in nature. Because we are all in this 🌎together there is no getting around the challenges our societies and pour fellow humans are facing.
