Whatever the truth, when Captain Harkness and Captain Vidal’s rival ships meet at sea, their crews know to steer clear of the two — for everyone knows that, whatever the truth, Agatha and Rio belong to each other, whether their pact is mutual death or enjoyment or something else entirely.

pulling down heaven (and raising up a whore) | chapter 1

Summary:

Announcement: welcome back to school, bitches and witches!* The fall play, directed by Ms. Harkness (English), will be The Crucible. Auditions will be held September 5 at 3pm. *We are not funded by nor affiliated with Westview High School and reserve all rights to print whatever profanity we so desire. Signed, the editorial staff — In which Agatha and Rio end up co-directing the high school play, in which Billy Maximoff is a star, and confronting the long history of love and grief between them.

Excerpt:

“You drank blood, Abby, you drank blood! ” cries the student playing Betty, in such a way that the other students have to stifle their laughter. “Can’t believe they’ve got you doing this one,” Rio says softly, leaning in so that her voice can be easily heard by Agatha and only Agatha. “I chose it.” Agatha’s eyes cut toward Rio and she sees that Rio is wearing the necklace that she’d given her for her 30th birthday, simple, white-gold — two interwoven hearts. Of course she’s wearing it. “I’m more miffed that out of all the teachers, you’re the only one who volunteered to be my assistant director.” She arches an eyebrow at her. “Or perhaps…” Rio tilts her head to the side, looks off across the auditorium. “Perhaps I just wanted it more than anyone else.”

for my first tumblr post i thought it only appropriate to mention the fic i am currently working on (a product of my inability to move on from agatha all along!) i would be lying if i didn't say this fic was inspired by the line “it always leads to you and my hometown.” enjoy :)

In which Agatha Harkness, witchlore professor and hater of all things merry and bright, must return to Salem for the holidays following her mother’s unexpected death. When she meets Rio Vidal, the mysterious and infuriating local mortician, everything she thinks she knows about herself and her family comes crashing down.

enjoy one of my favorite scenes from chapter 7 ‼️

“Relax, Agatha.” Rio’s voice is lighter now and Agatha internally curses herself for being so obvious, for letting her anxiety show so clearly. “I’m not gonna stab you.”

Rio chuckles when she says it, which sends a rush of relief through Agatha’s mind—Rio isn’t freaked out. Agatha forces herself to smile back despite the mention of stabbing. She finds it charming, actually, that Rio knows exactly what to say to soothe her racing mind.

Agatha Harkness is charmed. Isn’t that something?

“Do you like plants?” Agatha asks abruptly. She tilts her head up, admiring the wooden paneled ceiling above her and trying desperately to think about perfectly mundane things.

She would very much like to avoid thinking about how charmed she is by Rio whilst on top of Rio.

“I do.” Rio smiles brilliantly. Being the subject of that joy, that perfection, makes Agatha’s head spin and she has to abandon her study of the ceiling. “I have a garden.” Her fingers move up Agatha’s back, sliding into her hair unannounced.

“Oh.” Agatha gasps. She rushes to push her thoughts away from Rio’s touch, from the soft movement of her hand as it cards through her hair and the feeling of her legs wrapped around hers. “What kind of… what do you grow?” She stumbles over the words.

“Agatha wonders if her touch would set them both afire, consuming and burning and ending.”

“Hey, I do not mope!” She shoots back. Rio mouths you totally do with a smirk. Agatha grabs a throw pillow and lobs it at her head. Rio catches it effortlessly and then winks at her. Agatha curses every god she’s ever known and every deity that’s ever been worshipped and Salem itself for throwing her into the orbit of Rio Vidal.
