After a hard day it takes Damian a bit of encouragement to unwind. Dick always initiates it by giving him a shoulder massage and making him hot chocolate till Damian falls asleep at the bat computer, so Dick carries him to his room
Ohh this is so warm and nice ♥
…..·• •·….
It started off with a lot of complaining– like most things do with Damian– occasional threats to chop his hands off if he doesn’t remove them in that very instant and some annoyed babybat glares in his direction.
It doesn’t stop Dick though, never did, never would.
This time around it’s a massage they’re arguing about, or more like, Dick is massaging Damian’s tense shoulders and the teen is trying to prove him that he’s in no need of such measures.
“Grayson– enough– I am not tense.” the teen grants with a frown, disliking the idea of Grayson thinking he’s been tense because of his Mother’s sudden appearance in the mission earlier tonight. He is most certainly okay, more than that, he’s fine.
“Hmnn yeah sure” Dick seems to ignore his complaints and resorts to adding pressure to the teen’s still lean shoulders. His muscles are rock hard, so tense Dick has to use actual force to somehow make them relax. “Just giving you a little massage” he hums “Should be thanking me rather than whining” he comments with a teasing undertone, fingers reaching Damian’s neck.
“I am not whini– nn” Damian’s denial is cut short by a little sound that escapes his lips when Dick presses both thumbs against his nape and starts massaging up “Grayson” he complains but there’s hardly much argument left in it. “I do not need babying “ he says with a low tone, eyebrows furrowing in that Damian-pout of his.
“I’m not babying you” Grayson promises, stopping on one spot Damian seems to be most sensitive at “Here?” he asks, massaging firm circles into the skin “Relax baby bat” he guides him with his deep voice, slowly going back to his shoulders and massaging them again, warm hands soon making them relax and lower. “Here you go” he encourages, soon patting them softly “All new”
He’d finally let go off Damian, giving him a knowing look “Wait a moment” he’d go, and not too long after he’s back with a cup of hot choco, placing it on the table. “One cup of hot chocolate” he announces “For the little prince” he adds, with a smug teasing face but also real, open fondness.
Damian’s lips part and he looks like he honestly doesn’t know what to do, kill Dick or just give up and drink his damn hot chco.
He gives up.

Tumblr media
- P A R T  O N E -
University was a peculiar place.
It was definitely more mature than high school, and professors gave their students a lot more freedom to do what they pleased, and this is where chaos usually ensued. Despite everyone being adults, they were usually dying on the inside from lack of sleep, and the stress of having to live on their own for what is probably the first time in their lives. Mix that in with the social life of uni - the parties, the fraternity life, and the feeling that these are the best years of your life - and what you get this strange transition to adulthood full of regrets and mistakes and memories you can never forget.
At least that was the definition most people gave university. In reality, it included more empty coffee cups spread across your dorm room than you can count, and trying to catch up with readings but failing miserably, which ended in many sleepless nights and falling asleep in class.
Which brings us to this very morning.
It was a Monday, and after spending both Friday and Saturday goofing off and having a little too many beers for your liking, you wound up spending Sunday locked up in your dorm, doing all of the weeks readings. It did not go as well as you had planned and you ended up watching strange videos on youtube (knowing 107 facts about Disney’s Beauty and the Beast was bound to be a good conversation starter, right?).
Needless to say, you were absolutely terrible at planning ahead, which is why you ended up in situations such as the one this lovely Monday morning.
You woke up to the sound of your phone vibrating relentlessly with incoming messages. You tried to ignore it and go back to the comfort that sleep brought you, but there was no sign of your phone stopping any time soon.
“I knew I should have muted the group chat!” you mumbled to yourself whilst fumbling around with half closed eyes to grab your phone off the bedside table.
The bright blue light of the screen caused you to wince as you attempted to read the time.
8:13 am
You nearly dropped your phone on your face. Your class started thirteen minutes ago!
You quickly skimmed over the messages you had gotten from your friends, all of them saying the same thing.
Where are you????
Just then a new message came in from Wendy.
W: Are you okay? Did something happen??
You decided to answer her as you scrambled out of bed. Your message was filled with typos and written completely in capital letters (so as to emphasize your urgence), but hopefully Wendy understood what you were trying to say.
You: SHIT I SLEPT IN SGNJFUWEJSKEJBSDJ AHHHHHHH SAVE MR A SEAT PLASEEE
It only took seconds before she replied.
W: lmaooooo alright !!!
You proceeded to pull on the first articles of clothing you could find, not caring if they matched or not. You were all up for just wearing your pajamas to class, but they were thin and it was freezing out.
Getting ready in record time, you ran out your dorm building and towards campus. Having skipped breakfast, though, you were starving so you had the bright idea of stopping by Starbucks to have a cup of coffee. At least then you would be awake - not that having to run wasn’t doing the trick already.
It was a terrible idea.
One step out of the shop and a bustling business man bumped into you causing you to spill coffee all over your top. The asshole didn’t even apologize! He just went on, leaving you uncomfortable and realizing you were going to be even more late than you had anticipated. You groaned in frustration before going on your way.
You were nearing the building when you felt your phone vibrate in your pocket.
Stopping at a stoplight, you pulled it out to see a text from Wendy.
W: Chan came in like super late and stole your seat oops. I tried telling him to move but he doesnt listen... i can’t push him he’s a fucking giant rip
You sighed. Fucking Chanyeol. Always late.
You: ffs chan ughhh!!! It’s okay though, I’m right outside, i’ll just find another seat.
You finally entered the auditorium, and internally groaned when you saw how filled it was. Your friends were all sitting in the back, right by the entrance, and sure enough, Chanyeol was sitting right beside Wendy, sending you a cheeky grin when he spotted you.
“Well, if it isn’t miss tardy-pants!”
You glared at him.
You quickly scanned the room and saw a free spot all the way in the front. Sighing, you began your walk of shame.
“You alright?” Joy asked you, a hand on your arm as you were passing her seat.
You nodded. “Yeah, I’ll be fine. I’ll catch you guys later.”
The empty seat was occupied by the boy’s bag and he seemed to be lost in his own world, for he did not move it, even when you stood awkwardly by the seat for a few seconds.
Unsure of what to do, you tapped him on the shoulder. “Excuse me, is this seat taken?”
He was abruptly brought out of his thoughts as he blinked blankly at you. He looked slightly annoyed to be distracted from what he was writing in his notebook, and after letting his eyes scan you from head to toe, his bitch face only seemed to become more emphasized. He was gazing at you as if he was judging you, hard.
You didn’t blame him. You looked like a trainwreck, arriving over twenty minutes late to class, your hair a tangled mess, and a huge coffee stain on the front of your shirt. You were also slightly sweaty and out of breath from having to run all the way here.
He finally moved his bag, in the slowest pace you had ever seen a human move, and you hastily plopped down in the now empty seat.
You began fumbling in your bag for your materials but internally groaned when you noticed you forgot your pencil case back at the dorm. You did not want to make a big fuss over it, and so you discreetly nudged the boy sitting beside you.
“Hey.”
He looked at you with the same annoyed face, although this time, he looked even more irritated, if that was even possible.
“Can I borrow a pen?” you whispered.
He merely sighed before haphazardly tossing you the first thing he pulled out of his pencil case, which happened to be a highlighter, before going back to taking notes as the professor lectured on.
You hated to be that annoying kid, but there was no way you could take what notes you could using a yellow highlighter.
You nudged him again. “This is a highlighter.”
He visibly rolled his eyes, fished out an actual black pen, and handed it to you, all the while not even sparing you a glance.
You frowned, but took it nonetheless, ready to take what notes you could for the remainder of the class. It was hard to pay attention, however, when from the corner of your eye, you could still see the boy taking his notes, his dark brows furrowed together as he concentrated.
The boy seemed familiar to you, though you weren’t sure why. This was a fairly big class, so you maybe you had caught his face once or twice. And boy, what a face it was. This boy was definitely cute.
He wore large, round glasses and dressed in a very prim and proper way - a light blue button up shirt and dark pants. His dark hair looked like it was combed to perfection, but he must have missed a spot for it kept falling over his eyes. Judging by the way his notebook was open and his pen already in his hand, you knew he was the studious type.
You were too caught up in your thoughts about how attractive he was to notice that the professor had ended the lecture and everyone around you began to shift and the room was filled with chatter. You looked down at your notebook and noticed that you had barely written a sentence.
“Here,” you handed the boy his pen back. “Thank you for letting me use it.”
He nodded in response and was slinging his bag over his shoulder when you stopped him. “Hey can you send me the notes, by the way. You know, if it’s not too much trouble, and all.”
He looked surprised that you were actually talking to him, and for a second his face was devoid of an annoyed expression as his brows were raised. “Um, yeah sure. I’ll email it to you?”
His sentence came out as a question, so you nodded vigorously.
“Thank you! Do you know my email?”
He shrugged. “I can just find it on the course website, it’s not a big deal.”
You smiled. “Thank you!”
“No problem. See you next class.” He offered what you thought was a half smile, before walking out of the room.
It took merely seconds before Doyoung came up behind you and tackled you in a hug. “Who were you talking to?”
“Wasn’t that Sehun?” Wendy asked, looking at the boy’s retreating back.
That was it! Sehun! You knew that name!
Sehun was known to be the quiet student in class who knew all of the answers to everything. He was also known to always look annoyed at everyone around him, often caught rolling his eyes at people’s shenanigans and disruptive behaviour. No one really talked to him, since they thought he was rude and conceited and a know-it-all.
“Yeah. He’s actually not that bad. He’s sending me the notes.”
“Whoa, who would’ve thought.” Doyoung commented, his chin still propped up on top of your head and his arms hanging off your shoulders.
“Right? I would have expected him to be a jerk!” Wendy nodded in agreement.
“Nah, I think the whole jerk, and bitch face thing is just a front. Maybe there’s a shell that needs to be cracked to reveal a…”
“A what?” every time Doyoung spoke, you felt his jaw move against the top of your head.
“A… I don’t know! A nice, gentle person? Maybe he’s just really shy and uses that annoyed attitude to hide it.”
Wendy looked at you with a raised eyebrow. “Are you okay, (Y/N)? Have you been eating well?”
You scoffed, and were prepared to make a snarky comeback when you heard Chen’s voice. He was standing by the entrance of the room along with Chanyeol, Joy, and Suho.
“Are y’all coming or what? We’re going to grab something to eat.”
“Coming!” Doyoung called, using slightly high pitched tone. Then, back to his normal voice, he spoke while walking behind you, all the while keeping his head on top of yours. “Who knows, maybe (Y/N) is just trying to befriend him for the notes so she can actually pass this class.”
“Oh please, you’re doing worse than I am!” You retorted with a laugh, and pushed Doyoung off of you as you walked out of the classroom, and back into your normal, carefree life.
Despite what Doyoung and Wendy had said, one thing was for certain: you were definitely going to sit next to Sehun again.
“Suho, I swear if you crack another lame ass joke, I'm going to punch you.”
The pink haired boy merely grinned innocently at Joy, to which she rolled her eyes.
It was Monday evening and you were currently sitting at a fried chicken establishment with some of your friends. It was a typical night, your friends being loud and extra for no good reason, while you laughed along to their antics.
You were munching on the fries in Chen’s plate, while listening intently to another one of Chanyeol’s tall tales (which were more often than not interrupted by resident comedic Suho), when your phone vibrated against the wooden table and causing a large noise, making Chanyeol stop once again.
“Will I ever get to finish my story?” He huffed.
“Sorry, sorry.” You picked up your phone to glance at the notification.
“He sent you the notes through email?! What is this? 2002?” Doyoung’s orange hair was in your line of vision as he leaned in to see the screen of your phone.
“Wait, what notes? Did we miss something?” Chen asked curiously.
You looked up to see all of them looking in your direction.
Chanyeol looked slightly annoyed at not being able to finish his story about how he got his foot stuck in a rabbit hole this morning.
Before you could reply, Wendy was speaking.
“You know that guy with the glasses who always sits in front and answers all the questions? Sehun?”
“Yeah, what about him?” Suho’s brows furrowed.
“Apparently (Y/N) and him became best friends and he’s sending her the notes.”
“Oh! He’s cute!” Joy smiled. “In that nerdy kind of way.”
“We’re not best friends! I barely talked to him!” you defended.
“Yeah, clearly not friends if he’s sending fucking emails in 2017. Lemme see that.” Doyoung grabbed your phone out of your hand before you could react.
“Hey! Give that back! What are you doing?” you tried to reach for your phone, but Doyoung had longer arms and could therefore use your phone far out of your grasp.
“Found him!” he exclaimed.
“What do you think you’re -”
“Done!” Doyoung straightened up again, and you were about to grab your phone, when he shook his head. “I’ll only give it back if you promise not to delete it.”
“What are you talking about? Delete what?”
“Doyoung, what did you do?” Chen laughed.
The boy grinned, proud. “Just helping (Y/N) make friends.”
You looked down at your screen in shock, the colour completely leaving your face.
Friend request sent.
“You added him on Facebook?” you cried.
“Well you weren’t going to befriend him through hotmail, now were you?”
You gave him a panicked look. “But what if he doesn’t accept it?”
“Hey, you’re the one who wanted to ‘crack his shell’ or whatever. This way it’ll be much easier!”
You still had a pout on your lips as you looked down at your screen again. He still hadn’t accepted the request. Had he seen it? Was he just hesitating because it was all too soon?
“Think of it as a favour.” Doyoung wrapped an arm around your shoulder and pulled you closer to his side. “Now, Chanyeol was rudely interrupted and I wanted to hear the end of his story.”
Chanyeol immediately brightened up at that. “Thank you! Okay, so where was I?”
“Your foot was stuck in a rabbit hole?” Wendy offered.
“Oh yes! So it was really stuck in there, right, and no matter what I couldn’t get out. Just then an old man walks by, but get this - he’s blind! So he clearly can’t see me struggling -”
If it was any other night, you would have loved to hear the rest of Chanyeol’s ridiculous tale, but alas the only thing you could think of was that stupid friend request and Sehun. Why was it such a big deal? You weren’t thirteen anymore, these things should not matter to you.
But your mind reeled each second that passed without his reply and you didn’t know what you would do if he rejected it. Would you be able to sit next to him again, knowing that he had outright rejected your offer - er technically Doyoung’s offer for friendship?
These thoughts did not leave even long after you left the chicken place and were already lying in bed. Your phone lay on your bedside table, not having made a single sound since earlier that evening.
No news, no nothing.
You thought you were finally going to be able to fall asleep, when you were suddenly forced awake with your heart in your throat as your phone vibrated.
Moving faster than you ever had before, you grabbed your phone too look at the notification that popped up on the screen.
Oh Sehun has accepted your friend request.
The smile you had on your face could have lit up an entire room.
He accepted! He wanted to be your friend! (hypothetically, of course).
You were so excited, suddenly feeling wide awake, that you immediately opened up your conversation with Doyoung.
You: he said yes!!!!!!!!
D: when’s the wedding??????
You rolled your eyes. Doyoung couldn’t be serious for more than two seconds.
You were going to lock your phone, when he sent another message.
D: you’re welcome btw ;)
You couldn’t keep the smile off of your face even as you tried to fall asleep again. All you could think of was the fact that this meant that perhaps Sehun wasn’t such a bad guy after all. This only furthered your desire to befriend him.
True to your word, the next time you had Astronomy class, you immediately sat at the empty seat next to Sehun. At least, this time around, he moved his bag as soon as he felt someone near. When he saw that it was you, his brows shot up in surprise.
“Hey,” You greeted, as you slid into the seat.
“Hey.”
It was a little awkward. The two of you didn't even know each other, after all.
“Thank you for the notes, by the way.”
“Oh, it's no problem. Were you able to read my handwriting fine?”
You nodded. “You have very nice handwriting.”
“Oh...uh thanks.”
You were pulled back into an awkward silence, and you weren't sure how to break it.
You were pulling out your notebook and pencil case from your bag when you heard Sehun speak again, although his voice held an uncertain tone to it.
“Wouldn't you rather be sitting with your friends?” He nodded his head towards your group of friends sitting in the back of the class. Chanyeol was in the middle of arm wrestling Suho, Doyoung was already half asleep while Chen was mostly likely on his second cup of coffee, and Joy and Wendy were busy watching a video on Wendy’s laptop.
You shrugged and sent Sehun a smile. “I think I'm happy right here.”
Sehun did not know how to reply to that, and so he didn't. Instead he turned back towards the front and awkwardly twiddled his thumbs. You couldn’t miss how flushed his face had gotten, though.
Neither of you mentioned the friend request. Why would you? You were two adults, and this was something completely minuscule over the grand scheme of things you should be worrying about.
The class started not too long after, and you tried your best to pay attention, but you soon found yourself losing focus and getting confused all over again. You tried to write down everything that you could in your messy notebook, but were still having difficulty keeping up.
Astronomy was an interesting class, with the discussion of celestial beings in the universe and the vast immensity of it all, but it was definitely not one of your strong points. You wouldn’t have even been in this class if it wasn’t for Suho.
He had a fascination with space and insisted on you and your friends take this class with him. He would claim he had to take this class, that he needed it. In a typical Suho manner, however, your first day of Astronomy had ended with him laughing and saying “I thought this was astrology, my bad.”
Needless to say, you and your friends decided to stick around. The class was quite interesting, and you knew that if you attempted to switch out, Suho would make a big deal about your lack of commitment.
He really was a strange fellow.
If you had been sitting with your friends, you would have been goofing off, ignoring this whole lecture as you scrolled through social media on your phone. But this was different. For one, you were sitting near the front of the room rather than the back, so if you were to go on your phone, your professor would see and you just could not do that to him. He was a sweet, eccentric old man, after all, who loved puns a little too much for his own good. In that sense he was very similar to Suho, a fact that Chanyeol never let him forget (“It’s like looking at an old, white version of Suho!”).
Secondly, you did not want to leave that kind of impression on Sehun. You did not want him thinking you were a slacker who did not care about her grades.
Sighing, you turned to Sehun, nudging his elbow with yours.
He looked at you a little annoyed, but then saw the confused look on your face.
“I’m confused.” you whispered.
Sehun parted his lips to say something back, but just then the professor asked a question, and instead, his arm shot up in the air and he answered the question smoothly.
You frowned, knowing that you wouldn’t be able to get help like this, so you flipped to a new page in your notebook and began to write a note on it. Then, when the professor wasn’t looking you slid it over to him.
Sehun looked curiously at the notebook in front of him with your little message messily scribbled on it.
Do you think he will let us practice some exercises near the end of class?
Sehun looked at you in question, but didn’t write anything. Instead he frowned and whispered “I’m trying to pay attention!”
You tapped the notebook and then proceeded to clasp your hands together in front of you in a begging manner.
He only raised a (perfect) eyebrow at you, looking at you like he had no idea what to do with you.
You jutted out your bottom lip in a pout, hoping it would help your case, and sure enough, after an eyeroll and a dramatic sigh he finally looked down at what you had written. He then looked up at you in an unamused fashion.
You gestured for him to write on the paper, while his expression did not change in the slightest.
Why?
He slid the notebook back towards you and finally looked at ease again, focusing his attention back to the class.
It took less than a minute before you were subtly trying to slide the notebook back towards him.
I don’t understand anything. Do you think you can help me?
Just like before, it took a few minutes before Sehun even bothered looking at what you had written, let alone begin writing a response.
Why can’t you ask one of your friends?
You didn’t even bother hesitating, grabbing your pen and beginning to write on the notebook before he even had a chance to finish writing his sentence.
They’re kinda stupid tbh.
Sehun couldn’t hold in his scoff, which he quickly covered up with a faux cough. You grinned and added another word.
Please?
Sehun finally looked at you and nodded.
You had to stop yourself from clapping excitedly.
The rest of the class went smoothly. Sehun went back to focusing completely, this time while trying to hide the small smile that was creeping on his lips. You went back to trying to pay attention but were distracted - this time with the relief you felt knowing that Sehun was going to help you out (and the fact that you got him to laugh which was an accomplishment in itself).
When it had finally ended, you made sure to arrange a meeting date, time and location with Sehun before he left.
“Does tomorrow at noon sound okay? We can go grab lunch and study at the same time?” you asked.
“Yeah, okay.”
“Here,” you pulled out a pen and grabbed Sehun’s hand, quickly scribbling your number onto his pale skin.
Sehun was flustered, to say the least. He did not quite know how to react upon seeing his skin being tainted with blue ink. His skin felt hot where you were touching him and his eyes were wide as he looked at you in shock.
“Now you have my number so we can keep in touch, in case anything happens!” you smiled sweetly at him, finally letting go of his hand.
“Couldn’t you just have put it in my phone instead?” Sehun was slightly pouting while looking down at your handwriting on his skin. “Or you could have sent it over facebook.”
It was a quite an adorable sight.
“Oh, right. I didn’t think of that.”
Sehun sighed. “It’s alright. I’m going to go, I’ve got a class in ten minutes.”
“Okay, see you tomorrow!” you grinned and he offered a small smile in return, causing you an immense amount of joy.
Sehun left, and you watched him walk away with a feeling of happiness and - what was that? Why was your heart fluttering?
You couldn’t think too long about this strange feeling, for when you turned to grab your bag, you nearly yelped at the sight of your friends, all looking at you with raised eyebrows.
“What was that?” you heard Doyoung’s voice behind you.
“What was what?” you replied, turning to your tall best friend, and finding a knowing smile on his face.
“Did you give him your number?” Wendy asked, joining in the conversation.
Suho whistled, walking in behind Wendy. “(Y/N) is wasting no time.”
You frowned. “It’s not what you think. He’s just helping me study tomorrow.”
“So it’s a date?” Wendy raised an eyebrow.
“No it’s not a d-”
“You know, I always did think the two of you would look cute together.” Suho commented, interrupting you.
“What are you talking about? This isn’t a -”
You were interrupted once again, this time by Chanyeol who was excitedly explaining a new game he was playing on his phone.
You pouted, and felt an arm around your shoulders. You looked up to see Doyoung grinning.
“Relax, everything will go fine between you and Sehun on your date tomorrow. Although, I must say you two are moving way too fast. But I guess that is the magic of technology. How late did you stay up messaging to him.”
You huffed. “We didn’t talk. And it’s not a date! God!” you shoved the taller boy off of you, stomping away as you heard his laughter echo behind you.
Despite it clearly not being a date, you could not help but feel nervous, and you had no idea why.
He was only going to help you out with astronomy, and that was all there was to it. Besides, you barely knew the guy.
That still did not stop the smile from brightening up your face with the messages that came in the following day at 11:59 am.
Hello, i’m at a table at the cafe you said we should meet at…
Let me know when you get here
This is Sehun by the way!
Your fingers tapped quickly on the screen of your phone, a response formulating before your eyes.
You: I’ll be there in a minute!!!
His reply came whilst you were making your way to the cafe.
S: okay :)
The smiley face came as a surprise but it made you grin nonetheless.
The heavy aroma of coffee filled your senses as you stepped in the cafe packed with fellow university students. Your eyes scanned the place for any sign of Sehun, but it was difficult locating him. You were considering messaging him where he was, but just then you caught a glimpse of him, his head bent over a book near the far end of the place, as far away from other people as he could.
You slid into the seat across from him and watched as he looked up at you startled.
“Oh it’s you.” He sighed in relief.
“Aren’t you happy to see me?” You teased, cupping your cheeks with your hands in an attempt to look cute.
Your charms did not work on Sehun, for he looked confused at most. “I guess? Are you ready to study?”
You nodded, beginning to pull out your books from your bag. “Yep. Let me just buy something first. Do you want anything?” You asked, wallet in hand.
He shook his head.
“You sure? Not even a cookie?”
He shook his head for the second time, his attention drawn back to whatever he was working on.
“Alright. I’ll be back in a few.” you jumped up from your seat and into the line. From where you stood, you had a perfect view of him, his nose buried in the book he had been reading prior to your arrival. You smiled to yourself as you thought about how kind he was to be helping you out like this. Maybe he was just misunderstood, and wasn’t a stuck-up know-it-all like people had assumed.
It was these thoughts that led you to buying a few cookies for him. When you placed them in front of him he looked up at you, puzzled.
“But I didn’t want anything.”
“I know, but I felt really bad that you took time out of your day to help me out, so please accept them as a gift of gratitude? You don’t have to accept them if you don’t want to, I could find a better way to pay you ba-”
Sehun interrupted your rambling with a small smile of gratefulness. “No, these are more than enough. Thank you, (Y/N).”
It was the first time he had said your name, and you didn’t know why it made you so happy.
“You’re welcome!” you replied cheerfully, finally settling back into your seat across from him, and taking out your books, ready for the studying to begin.
Sehun opened his own book to a different page, and you realized that he had been reading the textbook for this course.
“What were you working on?” You asked him out of curiosity.
When he didn’t answer you right away, you looked up from your book to see his cheeks were dusted pink. “I was just reading ahead, a little. It’s no big deal.” he scratched the back of his neck in a nervous manner, before clearing his throat and speaking again.  “Are we ready to study? What do you have trouble with?”
“Everything.” you admitted, sheepishly.
The look of surprise on his face was quite the sight. “Oh. Well, then we better get started.”
He flipped his notebook back to the beginning, and you looked on eagerly, while gingerly taking a bite out of the bagel you had bought.
“Alright, so chapter one.” he said. He began to explain something but was quickly interrupted by another presence.
“Yo (Y/N)! What are you doing here?”
You immediately grinned upon seeing one of your good friends, Ten. “Hey! Nothing much, just studying astronomy.”
He laughed, his nose crinkling as he did so. “Suho really made you guys stay in there?”
You nodded. “It’s pretty interesting, though, so not much of a loss.”
“I still can’t believe he got all of you to take the class with him. But anyways, I’m going to leave you to study. I’ll see you at Heechul’s on Friday, right?”
You winked. “You know it.”
You waved goodbye to him as he walked away, before turning your attention back to Sehun, who had been awkwardly sitting throughout the entire interaction.
“I am so sorry for that! No more interruptions! We need to focus!”
“It's fine.” He reassured. “Now where was I?”
You tried to get a better glimpse of his notebook as he began to explain the basic concepts once more, but found it difficult with you sitting across from him, so without thinking twice, you slipped into the booth beside him.  You could finally see his neat handwriting, and smiled to yourself, but noticed that peculiarly he had stopped talking.
You looked up at him to find he was already looking at you.
“What's wrong?”
“N-nothing.” He quickly averted his eyes, clearing his throat before he resumed what he had been reading previously.
The noise in the cafe was increasing as more students walked in to grab something small for lunch. Consequently, it was getting difficult to hear Sehun’s soft voice, leading you to lean a little closer. You didn't want to interrupt him, and were actually learning so you attempted to do so as subtly as you could.
Unfortunately, subtlety was not one of your strong points.
Sehun abruptly stopped, his whole body tensing as he noticed how close you were getting. When you realized he wasn’t speaking anymore, you looked up at him in confusion, only to see him already looking at you.
“Is everything okay?”
He quickly averted his eyes, focusing back on the book. “Yeah… I just…. I got distracted.” he quickly cleared his throat. “Anyways, as I was saying…”
The rest of the time passes rather quickly as Sehun helps you out by covering all of the first chapter again, and to your astonishment, you think that you’re finally understanding the basics of astronomy.
It is as you pack up your belongings that Sehun mentions going over chapter two, hence scheduling another meet-up. It catches you off guard, so much so that Sehun notices when you do not reply. “Are you alright?”
You nod, vigorously, shaking your previous thoughts out of your mind. “Of course! I just can’t believe you’re actually going to help me again.” you admit.
“I said I would, and I like to keep my word.” is all he says in response, before he’s shrugging his bag onto his shoulder, and pushing his spectacles up his nose, as if out of habit, since they looked perfectly fine to you. “I gotta go,” he says, upon looking at his watch. “We can discuss our next meeting in class okay?”
“Okay.” you grinned, and then he’s gone, rushing out of the cafe, and bringing your first study date to a close.
True to his word, the first thing you talked about upon sitting into the seat next to him the next astronomy class you had, which happened to be a Friday morning, was about your next study session.
“I’m afraid I’m only free tonight at six.” he was saying, and you tried to hide your disappointment.
Tonight was the party that Heechul was throwing, the very same you and Ten had been talking about only yesterday. Heechul always threw the most legendary parties, ones where you weren’t sure if what had happened was real or just a figment of your imagination. They were wild. It would be a shame to miss it.
But to be fair, you had been to plenty of Heechul’s parties before, so you knew how they usually played out: Heechul is drunk before anyone even arrives; Suho is presumably next, seeing as he is a lightweight, which resulted in Joy following him around to make sure he didn’t embarrass himself too much (though she did leave him to do something ridiculous as payback for however annoying he was during the week; drunk Chanyeol meant even more nonsense blabbing and you felt bad for whatever girl he stuck to that night for they were going to need ear muffs to drone out the sound of his hiccupping voice as he repeats the same story once again (as if 32 times in one night isn’t enough already); Chen was usually the one to stay the most sober out of you lot and enjoyed himself in watching you make fools of yourselves and would even mess with you guys a bit just to get a kick out of it.
Maybe you could afford to miss one party. After all, Sehun was going out of his way to help you out. It was the least you could do, and so you find yourself nodding.
“Tonight sounds perfect. We could study in the cafe again? Or at this diner I know!”
Sehun looked uneasy. “If you don’t mind, I’d rather we studied in a more quiet area. The cafe and a diner would be too loud.”
“Oh. We could always go to the library?” you offered.
He twiddled his thumbs a little nervously as he said his next words. “I was thinking more like my dorm room.”
Your eyes widen and you could feel your face heat up. Did Sehun just invite you to his room?
Sehun’s reaction isn’t any better off when he realizes what his choice of words may sound like. His face was flushed red as he stutters and attempts to backtrack on what he said. “No, no, I d-didn’t mean it like that! I meant that it would be quieter, you know since no one would be around - but that doesn’t mean I want you alone - Oh God, this isn’t coming out right! What I mean to say is that -”
He paused as he looks at you with wide, doe-like eyes, looking far too flustered for his own good.
“- is that I usually study on my own, so it’s more comfortable for me and it’s easier to concentrate.” he finished his previous sentence rather awkwardly, his gaze leaving yours, and settling on his lap, not knowing where else to look.
You put a hand on his shoulder to try and ease some of his worry. “It’s okay, Sehun, I understand.” you reassured him with a soft smile.
He looked at the hand you placed on his shoulder in wonder, but the moment is short lived, however, for the professor had finally got the overhead projector to start working and had commenced the lecture.
You fall into an awkward silence with Sehun, only seeming to be filled with the sound of the lecture going on.
The same awkward feeling followed with you throughout the day until you finally find yourself facing the white painted door that separates you from Sehun.
You had yet to actually knock on it, feeling somewhat afraid of what the evening might bring you. You had no idea what to expect and the thought scared you. At least when you’re at Heechul’s party, you know exactly how each party-goer is likely to act. But with Sehun, everything is new, and you have no idea what is to happen.
You know you cannot dwell on these thoughts or else they were going to drive you insane, and so you took a deep breath and knock on the door and letting the fate of the evening fall into Sehun’s hands.
The door swung open to reveal Sehun, a smile shying on his lips. “Hey, you’re actually on time.”
He moved aside to let you into his room. It’s not too big, and the amount of books filling almost every crevice only emphasizes how studious Sehun is. You liked that the room actually felt like him, from the various lamps that are lit to the posters of various different galaxies that lined the walls.
There was only one chair for the desk, where you could see a book open, he had probably been studying prior to your arrival. The only other place to sit was the bed in the center of the room, and so you made your way towards it, taking a seat on its edge.
“Wait, what is that supposed to mean? That I’m always late?” you asked him, a teasing tone to your voice.
“Well you’re certainly not the most punctual in class.” he commented offhandedly, before realizing what he said, his hands flying up to cover his mouth.
You burst into laughter. “Alright, acknowledged. Being in your room really does make you a little too comfortable.”
He grinned at that, knowing it is true. He finally took a seat at his desk again, and only then noticed the lack of chairs in the room, and where you were sat. “I’m sorry there’s not enough chairs, are you comfortable on the bed?”
“Yup, don’t worry about me.” you chirped, bringing your legs up to sit cross-legged as you emptied your bag onto his bed. “Let’s just get started.”
Sehun suggested that you reread the second chapter before he gets started on explaining anything you might not understand, and you agree.
The room is engulfed in silence, save for the soft flipping of pages as you tried to focus your entire attention on the contents of your textbook.
You’re finally falling into the swing of things, when your phone vibrates, making a loud noise in the once peaceful room.
“What’s that?” Sehun asked, startled by the sudden noise.
“Doyoung.” you sighed, opening up the video he had sent you. You had absolutely no idea what is happening in it since the music is way too loud, but from what you could see, it had something to do with Ten attempting a keg stand in the background.
You rolled your eyes before sending a quick snap of you frowning at the camera, making sure to caption the photo with “shut up im trying to study”.
Doyoung is already answering, but from what you can see it is just a long string of spam messages that you would rather not answer at the moment.
D: O yeah i forgot you were a nerd now
Where are you? That’s not your room
Omg wait is that HIS room???
YOOOOOOO MOVING A LIL QUICKLY ARE WE???
Stay safe kids ;))))
Looks like (Y/N) is partying tonight too eh???? ;))))
You groaned, before turning your phone completely silent, and dropping it in your bag where you wouldn’t be distracted by it again.
You begin reading again, only to be interrupted by Sehun this time.
“Is there a party tonight?”
The question catches you off guard, and you look at him quizzically. “Yeah, why?”
“Didn’t you tell your friend yesterday that you were going to go?”
“I changed my mind.” you shrugged.
“Don’t lie.” he sighed.
“What?”
“You would much rather be there than here wouldn’t you? Spending your Friday night getting wasted with your friends rather than holed up and studying the stars with me.” he snapped.
Your brows rose at his tone. You did not expect this from him. “Sehun,” you started softly, not wanting to yell at him, although you were feeling a little irritated. Did he really think you were nothing more than someone getting drunk every chance you got? “If I really wanted to be there, I wouldn’t be here. I made a commitment, and I’m going to stick to it. And, believe it or not, but I actually like spending time with you.” you admitted.
He seemed to be at a loss for words, taken aback by what you had said. “Oh.” he finally uttered out, feeling guilty for abruptly accusing you of things.
He doesn’t say anything else for a bit, and so you go back to reading, not knowing what else to say.
His voice is quiet as he says it, and if the room had not been as quiet as it was, you would have missed it. Nevertheless, it brought a bright smile to your face, and you knew in that moment that you had found a friend in Oh Sehun.
“I like spending time with you, too.”
