Beta-readers and translators wanted for AFTG/FOXHOLE COURT SCREENPLAY

THIS IS PURELY A PASSION PROJECT AND UNPAID WORK. We’re currently looking for passionate readers interested in beta-reading and translating dialogue for the screenplay adaptation of the AFTG TV series. Experience in film/media industry is preferred but not required. 

Our aim is to bring the full potential of the series to screen, but we need your help doing it.

REQUIRMENTS FOR BETA-READERS: 

Must be 18 or above. In AFTG nature, the series discusses and deals with many sensitive subjects and trigger warnings (details listed in form linked below). 

Have English as a first/fluent language. 

Ability to consistently and effectively provide detailed feedback on your perspective of the plot, pacing, characters, dialogue & more. 

FOR TRANSLATORS: GERMAN, FRENCH, JAPANESE

Ability to fluently and adequately translate character dialogue from English into German/French/Japanese with comments.

AFTG EP 2 // DRAFT SNIPPET

Season 1 AFTG draft is nearly complete....I finally wrote the line ‘You gave Kevin your game, give your back to me’ and I got chills...after losing 300 pages of this two years ago I’m finally here and my beta readers don’t hate it I could cry my dudes :’))

Life’s really been kicking my ass so goddamn hard during all this Covid shit. I’ve never been so stressed and mentally unstable in my life. SO, MORE WRITING TO KEEP MYSELF SANE HAHAHAHA. 

I’ve been pretty hesitant to share more things about the AFTG adaptation I’m writing. The series has so much potential for screen but translating the writing and exposition into film is proving difficult, especially when I’m doubting everything I write. As a fan I’m also hesitant to change too many things. I have to remind myself that it’s a rough draft, and that I’m just doing this for fun. 

So for now, here’s a little snippet that’s not in the book series! I’m not too confident in it but it’s so much fun writing in other perspectives. PLS BE GENTLE IT’S STILL A VERY ROUGH DRAFT.

I’m trying my hand at drafting an adaptation script and lord lemme tell you the Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic has so much film/ TV potential I am cryinggggg

aftg questions pt 1.

As you guys might know, I’m working on an aftg tv script and would like to try to make it as collaborative with the fandom as much as possible. So here’s a few questions I’ve built up over the last few months of having this show kill me over and over because I can’t decide anything for shit. 

1) Time setting. Would it be cool to set everything in the early 2000′s? Walkmans and Ipod classics, flip phones and cringey fashion? I feel like this would be really awesome, if done well. But that’s the thing. It’s hard to pull off, because we’re not talking the 20′s or 60′s or 80′s. Though there is a certain aesthetic to the 2000′s, it’s not a jarringly obvious aesthetic. (Also wouldn’t really be able to use the music that I was planning on using cause most of them came out after early 2000′s so that’s a slight bummer) 

2) Should the Exy goal have a net? Shush okay, I’m actually struggling with this. Apparently the goal doesn’t have a net? It doesn’t even have bars? It just lights up red when the ball passes the box but like?? Nets are more dramatic, no? Honestly, I have many Exy questions. If somebody wants to tell me their version of it, what the court looks like, what the shape of the pexiglass is like, if it’s played on grass like football or wood like basketball or whichever, feel free to lemme know. 

3) Bringing in the Trojans early. I want to introduce the Trojans into the first season, or at least some other team that will provide as a sort of fuel/comparison as to how much the Foxes need to improve. For the moment, the pace for season one is lacking. Since there’s so much exposition, the action is sometimes lost or cut too short. 

4) Foxes Class 1 status on the line? Linking into pace and action, would it be okay to kind of alter the purpose on the first season a little bit. I know we’re very focused on Neil and how he’s co-habiting with the Foxes and keeping his secrets secret, but I still feel like something else needs to be in jeopardy, something else needs to be added that make it more dramatic and exciting. This isn’t really a question but a suggestion? 

5) Matt and Dan not being a couple yet? Hold it hold it, hear me out. I know this is probably a big change okay, but listen. I think the season needs this: Matt trying to woo Dan, who as we have been told used to be a bit of a man hater because of her last job. This wouldn’t necessarily be an entire new subplot, but I think it adds a bit more texture and diversity to the narrative?? I’m hoping for them to be established as a couple by the end of season 1, or at least closer to the beginning of season 2. 

6) Kevin and Riko’s tattoos. Roman numerals or no? I feel like this is that small detail that I definitely would have to ask Nora about (not that I wouldn’t ask her about everything else, of course I would ask her everything else too) if this were to go into production. But just as a point of curiosity, what do you guys think?

Errmmmmm I never actually thought anybody would be interested in it so I actually didn’t :’) I’m pretty sure I used #aftgscript for them but they’re not showing up when I search it for some reason :( I’ll be sure to use that tag in future tho!
