hey guys

i genuinely feel like such an ass for doing this and i'm really sorry about it, so i apologise in advance. tw – mental health.

i started my first tumblr blog nearly two years ago, and this is my fourth. on my previous one, @/faetarou , i begun to feel really done with tumblr – i of course adore all the lovely people on this platform, but there are some not-so-lovely people, and it kinda put me out. i didn't talk about it, but i felt absolutely crushed by the need to update and writing my comfort characters filled me with a sense of dread and fear of rejection. i struggle with perfectionism@ in a really serious way that messes with my mental health and drove me to a really dark place of self-hatred last year that i never shared with anyone, and held me back beginning a new year.

i started this blog and @/cutenimi with high hopes, and i thought it would remedy the uneasiness and stress tumblr was beginning to creep upon me. starting the school year, i realise that didn't help, and what would really be best for me would be to leave tumblr.

obviously, i feel immensely guilty having promised so much and delivered so little, and it really breaks my heart to do this. i'm really, truly sorry, and i hope you can all understand.

𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐈𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐃 : we met in our first year of college, in the main studying area of our university’s library. at 2pm on this particular saturday afternoon, it was packed–midterms were coming up, so it made sense. in each seat sat another sleep-deprived student, the stress of upcoming exams visibly weighing down their shoulders. i was in the corner, second cup of coffee in hand, glassy eyes skimming over notes and textbook pages. keiji approached me, whispering a quick “hey” as he took the seat beside me. his eyes fell to the well-loved copies of 1984 and fahrenheit 451 that peeked out from my bag. “a fan of dystopias?” he asked, and that’s how our first conversation started. it began with books and literature, but it shifted to other topics like music, our life back home, and our hopes for the future. we talked for an hour or two, earning a few glares from people nearby. noticing this, as well as my now empty coffee cup, he said he knew a nice coffee place not far from campus and asked if i was interested in going with him. sheepishly, i admitted that i didn’t like coffee all that much and only drank it for the caffeine. to this, he laughed and said that they had more than just coffee, insisting that i should check it out with him. i agreed, and we left the library together.

𝐅𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 : that cafe he brought me to? it became one of my favourite places in the entire world. part of it was because they had really good food, but i’d be lying if i said keiji didn’t have anything to do with it. we had completely different majors, him english and me medicine, so the 10 minute walk there and the 20 minutes in the cafe itself, half an hour in total, was the only time we had to together. every second of those 30 minutes was spent talking, laughing, and enjoying each other's presence. being with him was comfortable and warm, and that’s why i fell in love with him. i found myself trying to make him smile, scanning the library every afternoon for his familiar face, and admiring him a bit too much for whatever i felt for him to be platonic. it was the same for him: he caught himself looking forward to our daily afternoon meetings and he didn’t fail to notice the slight drop of his heart when i said i had to go to my next class. as time went on, we started to spend more time together. for instance, i woke up earlier to meet him before his 10am classic literature class, while he stayed in the library until closing time to study with me. we’d been around each other so much that others thought we’d already been dating, but despite the feelings we had for each other, neither of us confessed—we were both afraid of ruining this perfect dynamic we had going on.

𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 : we went ice skating on our first date. the rink he’d brought me to was one of those outdoor ones with the cute little shops and food stalls surrounding it. after roaming for a bit, we rented skates and got on the ice. even though i could skate without gripping the wall for dear life, i still sucked, so our skating experience together was just me clutching his arm the entire time and him dealing with it like the angel he is. towards the end of the night, he noticed that my fingers were ice-cold. he held my hands in his, blowing on them and softly rubbing our hands together to keep them warm. he asked if i wanted to get off the ice to warm up i shook my head and told him i was feeling fine, but he saw my flushed face and insisted we go and get some hot chocolate ( keiji please, i was turning red because of you, not the cold smh )

your head is heavy as it rests on the palm of your hand, staring blankly at the computer screen which is turning dark as the pen between your fingers hangs loosely while you scribble incomprehensible notes and scribbles on the paper.

eyes struggling to stay awake, and drifting in and out on consciousness. the teachers voice becoming white noise in the background, nothing other than a sound that's putting you to sleep.

there's a nudge on your arm that jolts you back to reality, looking to your right where a cocky grin stares at you – twirling a pen between his fingers. kuroo points at the clock on the wall, the time showing that the day is finally over.

you don't hesitate to shut the laptop and begin to pack up your things, slipping them into your bag – the people around doing the same.

home, home, home.

that's the only thing you're thinking of when you leave the building, when you step off campus, placing in ear buds as you start the journey back home. unfortunately, someone couldn't take a hint and began to join you at your side.

"sleeping during class?" he muses, "we were going over the test, i kind of missed our bickering. no one was trying to one up me, and i had no one to one up."

"i'm not in the mood kuroo,"

"don't tell me you're giving up on us." kuroo says, raising a hand to his chest as he feigns hurt, "i thought we had something special." he continues, "our fight to be the best, does that mean nothing to you?"

"whoa," your head turns, "since when are 'we' a thing?" snorting at the comment, "i don't want to be the best, i just want to be better than you."

"okay... well if we're going to be continuing this little charade of ours, you can't fall asleep during classes." kuroo hums, "how are you going to be better than me when you won't even be awake?"

"why do you even care so much?" lowering the volume of the music and pulling out an ear bud to hear him better, "am i really your only source of happiness and thrill these days?" you tease.

"what? no, of course not." he waves off, voice raising up to five octaves higher. "i just like how you motivate me to do something, to be more..."

"deceptive, calculated, and a little weasel?"

"i prefer strategic, but sure."

you let out something like a laugh. you and kuroo don't hate each other, it's just a little game where you think you're better than the other and want to prove it.

he find it refreshing to be around you, he loses track of time. so much so, that through all the lame jokes and banter he hadn't realised that he'd just walked you home.

kuroo didn't know what that feeling was creeping up inside of him, but he didn't want to leave – to end the conversation – to say goodbye. he wants to stay, to listen to you talk, to deal with your utterly lame jokes and watch how excited you get when he mentions something you love.

hell, maybe he likes you.

semi woke up early, the bright sunday morning during late-spring where butterflies start to fly outside and birds begin to sing their songs. he didn't want to wake you, so he slips out of bed and into the living areas.

sitting himself at the grand piano and slides the cover up off the keys, stretches his fingers out, and starts to play as softly as possibly. and in the bedroom, you stir, waking up to a melody that drifts through the walls.

you step out, gaze landing on the boy sat by the piano.

he starts to play a different song. nothing complicated, just a strain of notes. the beginnings of something. semi finds the melody, takes it up and lets it slip between his fingers.

"is that a new song?" you ask, a smile appearing on your face as you pat him on the shoulder getting him to scoot over on the bench. "why'd you stop?"

"hit a stump," he shakes his head as he sighs.

"play it again, i want to try something."

he starts playing again, leading you through the notes. you smile a little as he plays on, before mimicking the action, quickly taking control of the piano as you play the melody over and over again.

semi's got the guitar up now, balanced on one knee as he follows the melody on the strings, murmuring lyrics to himself.

you bring your eyes up from the keys, looking at the boy with ashy-hair that falls into his eyes as he bites the inside of his cheek trying to find the right lyrics.

it's all so pure, so innocent. the way the light shines on him like a spotlight, blocking out the rest of the world.

and you know that nothing can beat this.

a slow day, the clock ticking, time when seconds felt like ours and minutes felt like days. osamu stands at the counter, staring at the glass door waiting for someone to walk in and save him from this time prison he's been trapped in.

well no, he isn't waiting for just anyone, he's waiting for someone... special. he's waiting for the girl who never fails stand on the line of friendly and flirty, the girl who walks into the room and all the lights turn to her with a radiant energy.

he's waiting for you.

you've been walking into the store – ordering something different each time – at the same time everyday for the last week. the interactions the two of you have together being the highlights of his day.

and now, osamu waits, the sun beginning to set and the time – slowly – reaching closing. his fingers anxiously drumming themselves on the counter, his mind racing with thoughts and questions.

until the door swings open and everything falls away, and there you are. he sighs in relief, and smiles, "hey."

"don't tell me you were waiting for me," you say, approaching the counter with a grin plastered on your face.

"no, of course not," osamu scoffs, waving it off. "but, i was getting afraid that my favourite customer wasn't going to show up today. you do spend an awful lot of money here,"

"ahh, so i see, you're afraid of losing profit." you nod, playing along with the banter. "is that all i am to you miya?"

"no, no, no!" he stumbles over his words, feeling heat begin to rush to his cheeks. "i'm just curious as to what motivates a person to come in here everyday to buy the same thing," he hums, "you do know they're quite easy to make."

you snap and point your fingers at him, "ah but that's the thing! i can't cook, i tried to make spinach one time and i had no idea what to do." you laugh, watching as his mouth drops open.

"you're kidding!" he says, "spinach is one of the easiest things to make! you just leave it in a pan for a couple of minutes."

"well, i'm sorry i don't know what i'm doing," you raise your hands up in defence.

"cooking isn't that hard," he shakes his head, the corner of his lips turning as he begins to gather your regular order. it didn't take long to memorise, just a few things from the glass cases. "it's a lot cheaper than coming in here everyday,"

"well then, how about you teach me?"

"oh yeah?" he questions, placing the paper bags on the counter. "what exactly would i be teaching you how to make?"

you laugh at the thought that came into your mind, "i was thinking... how i like my eggs in the morning."
