HiveWing. Overcomplicated. But also not?
Joy and Tui, y'all cooked, I just put my own spin on it.
Details and explanation below.
Otherwise, next week are LeafWings! See you then!
More overcomplicated dragons.
I thought I had fun with the RainWing.
I was wrong. This was FUN.
Of all the ones I've done this design is nearly identical to the original. I'm not saying that to toot my own horn, it just somehow came out like that because I found the perfect references (and avoided altering the skull too much lol). Let's talk about them!
First, an unlikely one: iguanas. I originally picked them for their spines, but when I saw their eyes and large jaw scale (or whatever it is) I knew I'd found the new reptile base for the HiveWings. I also included the little snout and under-the-chin spikes they have; it just fits perfectly for a beetle-and wasp inspired dragon.
Speaking of beetles and wasps: I took heavy inspiration for the HiveWing's 'beak' from wasp mandibles. I love the way the mouth looks originally and wanted to preserve and exaggerate it. So, when creating the beak, I combined the jagged jaws of wasps with the curved beak of an African fish eagle. To top it off I referenced the rhinoceros beetle (obviously) for the horn on the nasion.
(The nasion is a point where your nose meets your forehead between your eyes). The HiveWing's horn isn't directly on it but I couldn't think of another word.
I actually wanted the entire head to have an insect-like feel, that's why the snout and forehead are built from large plates (once again referenced from rhino beetles).
Lastly, besides the lion-inspired teeth, an incredible animal called the nyala was responsible for the back horns. Whoever photographed that bull in that exact angle: thank you.
Let's see how badly I mess up the LeafWings next week. If you've read this far, perhaps let me know if you would like to see all of my personal headcanons for the LeafWings? For Alate Atta's Ascension I use a design where they have four wings and extra frills to look like leaves. I can do one closer to canon where they're more like a Pyrrhian tribe and another where they visually fit in with the other Pantalan tribes. Let me know!

"I was briefly a runway model."
Summary: uhhh you go to a small concert and bump into the artist after you know how it goes 🔥🔥
genre: first meeting. again. [CROWD BOOS]
wc: ~600-700
A/N: I wanted this to be longer but eh maybe next time. You get another drabble instead 👍🏾enjoy!
The odor of sweat and cigarette smoke choked the air as your friend gripped your hand amongst the swaying cluster of bodies.
You didn’t recognize the band she had taken you to see, a rare instance now that you visited the small venue every Friday night. There’s a young white girl with half-shaved blonde hair and peachy ends playing her heart out on the drums, a big pink sweater tied around her waist.
The main guitarist and frontman managed to be an even more colorful sight; he wore plaid slacks with patches woven into them, held up by a shiny spike-studded black belt. His bright red knee-high boots should’ve clashed with his attire, but the way he propped it up on a stage speaker to play a nasty riff made them go together. He was tall and lean, but there was a bounce in his walk that told you that he was likely closer to your age.
These guys must be new, you think to yourself.
He said something crude on his electric guitar, the sound coming out jagged and crunchy. Large wicks radiated from his head, blocking out the overhead stage lights as he made his way to your section. You could hardly make out his face as he stood directly above you with the light shining in between the gaps in his wicks, resembling something like an angel.
After the concert, your friend would swear up and down that he was staring directly at you as you left the venue.
The dim lights of the pub reflected off of the wooden interior. It gave everything a golden glow, including the mahogany skin of the young man sitting next to you.
The wicks and pants instantly gave him away as the night's frontman. The improved lighting situation allowed you to stare in awe at his sharp cheekbones and deep-set, somber eyes. You also recognized him from somewhere. Before you could gather up the courage to ask first, he addresses you with a sidelong glance.
"I got something on my face?"
You jump, and this makes him burst into breathy laughter.
"Sorry," you smile timidly, "I just thought I'd seen you somewhere before." The man’s pierced brow quirks up.
"Lots of places where you could've seen me. You're gonna have to narrow it down."
"It was a magazine. Editorial, or something. Have you ever modeled?"
"I have, believe it or not. For a time."
"You've certainly got the face for it," you said quietly. The man heard it anyway, judging by the smirk spreading across his lips, so you quickly change the subject.
"Where you from?"
"Wouldn't you like to know, hm?"
You shrugged. "I just figured, lotta models are African."
"I think we're all African," he stuck a finger up in the air comically like a professor, making you snort.
"But...Haitian, if you've got to be specific about it."
Your eyes lit up.
“Oh shit, sak pase!”
Hobie chuckled. It was deep, and warm-sounding. Like an old friend.
“Nap boule. Can't speak much more than that, though.”
You leaned forward over the counter and started twirling the ends of your braids around your finger absentmindedly.
“So, how’d you end up here? Having a pretty face must pay well.”
The man’s expression darkened for a moment. His tongue darted out to mess with the ring on his lip before his smile returned with less force than before.
“Wasn’t for me,” he shrugged. “Didn’t pay too well, either. Had me scurryin’ around trying to catch a cab on an empty stomach at seventeen.”
You winced. “Yikes, sorry I asked.”
"It's all good," Hobie said. He watched you toy with your hair with a grin.
"My face still comes in handy, though, for playing gigs."
"How so?"
"I get to meet pretty people like you."

Miraculous Sonic
(Listen, I have had a DAY, so I’m going to relate a discussion I had with my 4-year-old Nephew about this, cause honestly, It’s pretty funny)
premise: What animals would the Miraculous Ladybug characters be, if they got dropped into the Sonic World?
First, my nephew had to make me understand that just because a character had a certain miraculous, it didn’t mean they were that animal in Sonic. Because Sonic is a Hedgehog, but he would ABSOLUTELY have either the Monkey or the Black Cat, you see. The reasoning is OBVIOUS, apparently, because he did not feel the need to explain.
(Again, keep in mind - my nephew is 4)
so
Marinette - a mouse. Nephew’s argument was that she reminded him of the mice in Disney’s Cinderella (animated). This is his favourite movie.
Sabine & Tom - Sabine is also a mouse, but Tom is a rat, apparently. Because they are bigger, you see.
Adrien - this was very divided. He’s either a golden retriever, or a cat. Specifically, nephew’s best friend’s cat, Caramel (basically a blonde tabby, with gray-green eyes, and a few brown spots), only with “an actual tail” (Caramel’s tail had to be half-docked at some point). He also argued that, if he’s a cat, Adrien should be declawed, because Gabriel wouldn’t let him keep his claws (Jesus, kid). If he’s a dog, nephew said Gabriel would put him in a fancy prong-collar, or possibly a shock one (JESUS, KID).
Emilie & Gabriel - Emilie is a dog, a very fancy, sleek golden retriever/poodle mix. Gabe is apparently a Sphinx cat. I pointed out they wouldn’t be able to have a kid together. He argued that since Adrien is a Senti, this did not matter.
Amelie & Felix - Amelie is the same as Emilie, because they are twins, but Felix is apparently a grey cat.
Nathalie - a German Shepard. He refused to elaborate.
Alya - Alya is apparently an African Grey Parrot. Because she wants to be a reporter, so she “parrots” things she sees and hears (he didn’t know the exact pun, but that was the gist).
Nino - Gecko. Species unspecified, but he showed me a picture of a brown-striped gecko with tiny headphones, so I assume that’s where that came from.
Alix - “you know the snakes with legs? The speedy one! She’s that!” He refers to several lizards as “snakes with legs”, but based on context, I assume he means the basilisk lizard, which is very fast and can run on water. He occasionally calls it “Scaly Jesus”, cause that’s what his uncle calls them, to the disapproval of the grandparents, and the laughter of the rest of us.
Kim - Kim is a tiger, because they like swimming. But a smaller tiger.
Rose - He kept saying she was the “real bouncy hamster” I think he meant Chinchilla? This one was less clear, but I THINK Chinchilla was what he was talking about? It might also have been gerbil, but he doesn’t like gerbils, so I think Chinchilla is a safe bet.
Max - Raven, because ravens and crows are smart.
Juleka & Luka - wolves, or wolf-dogs. Cause they howl, “and that’s BASICALLY singing.”
Mylene - This one was a bird. Not sure, again, but I THINK he meant a bird of paradise? Love bird? “One of the small, rainbow ones. With ‘tenna.”
Ivan - a bear. He also felt no reason to explain this one.
Nathaniel - monkey. One with a “Looooooooooooong tail” apparently. He once saw a small monkey with orange fur, and he loves that one in particular.
Marc - a raccoon. Because they have thumbs (???).
Chloé - a hummingbird. Specifically, the bumblebee hummingbird, because they are his favourite. (“It would fit in my mouth! But I don’t one in my mouth! But it could fit!”)
Sabrina - otter, because that’s his Auntie Sabrina’s favourite animal, so that means ML!Sabrina is an otter.
Lila - ferret/weasel, they are interchangeable to him.
Anarka - also a wolf. He spent a while drawing what I’m fairly certain was a wolf with a pirate’s hat.
Jagged Stone - is a crocodile, because he has Fang. I asked what that would make Fang, in this universe. Fang is apparently, to quote, “the safety guy. And they have kisses”, so Sonic version of Fang is apparently Jagged’s bodyguard/boyfriend?
André - a very big toad. Nephew said all his political rivals would be flies (o…k?).
Audrey - praying mantis, cause they scare him.
Fu - a tortoise, cause he’s been alive FOREVER.
-
These are absolutely perfect and I love them.

8.8 Lion's Gate 'Zurvan Akarana' Talon Abraxas
God as ‘Time’ in the Ancient World
Once Krishna-Vishnu as Lord Nara-Hari / KALAH / TIME was worshiped as the Supreme Lord World-wide. He was the Deliverer of the Jews and Mixed-Multitude in their Biblical Exodus from slavery in Egypt. KRISHNA- VISHNU NARA-HARI Leontocephalos Lion-Headed TIME / KALAH of the Bhagavad-Gita, as the Biblical YAHU-TZABAOTH and Zeus-Jupiter Chronos-Saturus, Egyptian HERU-AUSU-Ammon-RA, Kushite Apademak, Shaivite and Buddhist Kalah-Bairab, Mithraic Zervan, etc. HE, ARYEH / HARYAH is the “Lion of Judah”, NARA-HARI, the Biblical Exodus Deliverer and Protector of the Jews.
Some Scholars of Zurvanism and Comparative Religions are well acquainted with the Form of the Supreme God as Leontopcephalos (Lion Headed) Time, surrounded by His Alter-Form or Expansion as the Ouroboros Serpent of Infinity. What they do not realize is that this Form of the Supreme Lord is both the Jews’ and Christians’ ARI-YAHU or ARI-EL YAHU-TZABAOTH (Lion-Headed Time) ‘Lord of Hosts’ of the Exodus Story, AND Krishna-Vishnu’s Central Bhagavad-gita Theophany as Narasimha KALAH / TIME, surrounded by His Alter-Form, Eternity as An-anta Un-Ending Sesha (Remainer) Naga (Biblical NACHASH).
To the ancient Africans, He was the Lion Headed AMUN (Zeus-Jupiter Chronos-Saturnus) the Supreme Lord of Egypt, Meroe and Sub Saharan Africa.
To the ancient Persians He was the Supreme Lord Zurvan.
To the ancient pre-Buddhist Tibetans He was the Lion-Headed Protector ZA.
To the ancient Eurpeans He was Zeus Chronos and Jupiter Saturnus etc.
To the Shaivites and Mahayana Buddhists He was/is the Wrathful Time-wheel Devouring Form of Kalah Bairava / Bairab Mahadeva (Shiva)
Shaivites identify the Central Theophany of KALAH in the Gita with Siva, because KALAH is one of Siva’s Names and Forms.
The Island Civilizations of Austro-Indonesia and the Pacific also worship the Lord as Lion-Headed Time. His New Year Lion Dance Blessing Festivals can still be seen there.
In the Western Hemisphere the Lion Headed JAG-WERE GOD of the earliest OLMECS ruled the TIME WHEEL of all of the subsequent Amer-Indian Civilizations.
Among the Names and Forms of Hari (Krishna) or Vasudeva (Vishnu) as the Man-Lion Nara Hari (Nara-Simha) are the Names and Forms of Kalah-Shiva!!! In Gita Jayanti and Buddhist New Year’s Festivals throughout the East, the All-devouring Universal Revelation / Theophany of the Supreme Lord as TIME / KALAH (BAIRAVA) is represented in a MAN-LION FORM. Thus Sacred Traditions from around the World, which are thousands of years old, confirm that ancient humanity worshiped the Supreme Lord in His Gita-related Revelation as Lion-Headed Time, with His Alter-Form of the Sarpa / Serpentine Anantadeva as Un-Ending Eternity.

Let’s learn some African History about cowrie shells!!
Did you know that in the African society ,cowrie shells were also seen as a symbol of fertility and prosperity. An article published in the Cambridge Archaeological Journal notes that the “particular qualities of the shell imbued it with culturally specific value. It is suggested that cowries, as part of divination sets, were active in divination because of their white colour and their origin in the (maritime) ancestral realm that anchored divination in notions of ancestry, fertility and healing.”
In some contexts, the voluptuous shape of the cowrie was associated with feminine form – i.e., the curved back symbolized a pregnant woman. One ethnographic author even suggests that the jagged side of a cowrie represented an eye or the vulva of a woman.

Okay so, I've been on Tumblr for a long time now and I love to write. I have *so* many things in my head I want to talk about. But what I really want to talk about are my OCs. This beautiful man is named Louis Belmont and I love him so freaking much.
I should be at church but I'm raging on a Sunday Lie to confess, fuck it, worry 'bout it some day Baptized in the crowd 'cause they lookin' pretty thirsty City full of sufferin' take me to the promised land Visits a chapel and these words, your religion Raise your cup for that holy grail that you're sippin' Free up your mind, I know that it can be a prison We ain't got much time, you better spend what you were given
Quotes
“What? You going to cry? Go ahead, make my day.”
“God damn it! It’s boring as hell! Where’s the fun?”
“Hey! Where’s my alcohol?!”
“Any good food here?”
“There’s a fight? Where? Why didn’t you tell me sooner?!”
“You want mercy? Ha! You came at me first. There will be no mercy from me.”
“…is that chocolate? Wanna share?? :3”
Basics
Name: Louis Belmont
Age: 25
Sexuality: Bisexual but leans more towards men
Gender: Male
Eyes: They are a golden color but what is interesting is that his eyes look like they have tiny flames in them. It's like a tiny furnace is in his eyes.
Height: 5'9
Body Type: more on the athletic side. He’s not super muscular, more on the lean side. He relies more on speed than anything, overpowering his foes with his speed and some strength.
Body Refs:
Race: African American/ German
Species: Mink
Sub-species: Wolf Mink
Birthday: July 23rd 1450 B.C.
Zodiac sign: Leo 🦁
Favorite Colors: Yellow (pastel yellow), Gold and red.
Hair color: Auburn (dark red)
Hair length: Stops at his mid back. He also keeps it in braids like his sister, mostly to get it out of the way, but to show off the hair beads he has.
Hair refs:
Piercings: he has quite a few. Mostly on his ears and tongue. He also has nipple piercings as well. His mother didn’t want him to get any piercings but…he never listened and didn’t care. It’s his body anyway. Don’t get me wrong, he loves his mother and will listen to her…but he just really loves piercings and wanted to get a few.
Scars: Louis has a lot of scars on his body. Some from fights and others from just being clumsy. He has a jagged scar across his throat from when he almost got his throat ripped out from a wolf (which is ironic), a scar over his right eye when he was fighting a bandit, a massive one going diagonal across his chest from a monster attack.
Species: He is a Wolf Mink (A Humanoid race that can look like animals or humans with animal qualities)
Voice Claim: https://youtu.be/0F8Qjgmlhkc
Theme song: Raging on a Sunday by Alexander DeLeon
Wardrobe: If Louis could, he would walk around naked. So, his wardrobe isn't that fashionable. He wears loose fitting clothing since he hates the feeling of clothes on his skin.
🔥Louis Belmont ⚔️
What is he like?: Louis is a hyperactive man who likes to be petty and piss people off. He’s nice, in his own way, and can be an asshole and a pest at times, but he means well. (Sometimes) he’s a very smart man under all that pettiness and people think he’s dumb which he uses to his advantage. He’s loud, obnoxious and snarky. He is very flirty and will flirt with anyone, but mostly men which is dangerous given that homosexuality is frowned upon, but he could care less. Louis does have a soft side for children and people are shocked when they see this soft, gentler side of Louis. They don’t expect that of a man like him. He *is* basically a giant man child. He is a hopeless romantic and will love his partner(s) to death. Spoiling them with kisses, cuddles and other things but also showering them with gifts.
Like I said before, he is a *very* hyperactive man. He cannot sit still for the life of him and has to be doing something. Either cleaning his weapons or fiddling with something, sometimes tinkering and fixing things. Other times breaking them to see how they work. He loves to talk to those who will listen and won’t shut up. But he has a serious side and will take things seriously when need be. He doesn’t really like to show weakness and would rather hide his wounds or hide how hurt he is so others don’t worry for him. He is a strong willed and independent man but at the end of the day, he’d rather cuddle and sleep with his partner(s) like any human would.
Likes:
🗡️-cleaning his weapons (he loves taking care of his weapons. He’s always wiping them down and checking for nicks to fix. Plus, having a full blade is not good in battle.)
⚔️-finding new weapons to collect (this man loves collecting new weapons, either to use or just to have. Usually he likes to test out the weapons before adding them to his collection. He has many weapons from around the world that he is proud to show off to people who ask.)
🏃♀️-exercising( which includes, running, push ups, climbing. He has so much energy, like *so* much. He loves to run and climb. It his favorite thing to do. Plus, he can chase after a monster or a bounty easily for a couple of miles. He doesn’t tire easily.
🍺-alcohol ( he loves to drink alcohol. No matter what it is, he’s trying it. He’s tried some fancy wine from France and loves the sweeter wine. He’s even tried the cheese platters with the wine and he’s addicted to them)
🤜💫-fighting and sparring (Doesn’t matter if it’s with monsters or humans, he *loves* to fight. It’s in his blood. If he’s not fighting then he’s sparring with his older sisters.)
🍩🍰-sweets(doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it’s super sweet. If there’s one thing he loves more than weapons and monster hunting…okay that’s two, but he absolutely loves sweets. Especially cookies or straight up blocks of honey.)
🗡️-monster hunting and learning about new species (he was taught at a young age about monsters and the different species there are in the world. Of course it’s a big world so people believe that monsters aren’t real. But they’d be wrong. Monsters are indeed real and he has been taught how to kill them. He loves learning about new species and soaks up information like a sponge.)
🥰-his mom (he will not hesitate to say his favorite person in the world is his mother. He loves this woman to death because she’s been there for him every step of the way. She taught him so many things. And while it’s a woman’s job to do sewing, cleaning and cooking, Louis wanted to learn everything. So, he knows how to cook and sew properly as well as clean. He’s not ashamed to know these things because it keeps him alive on his missions. She also taught him to read and write.)
😴-taking naps(he loves naps. It’s something he loves to do when he can. It also is a way to keep him quiet for a few hours.)
🐕😺-animals (he loves animals. No matter what animal, he seems to have a way with them. He can’t really communicate with animals, not really anyway. He can’t really *talk* to them, but he can sense what they’re feeling. Like wolves for instance, he is more wolf-like than anything and it’s easier for him to “communicate” with wolves than any other animal. It could be because of the magic he was born with)
🩷-cuddling(he’s a very touchy person, so, any type of touch he loves. It can be sexual or not. Just holding hands or kissing or just sleeping with someone in a pile is the best feeling in the world to him.)
👶-children(he wants a big family of his own some day)
🌲☀️-summer(he loves the heat and sometimes even sleeps in sunny spots. He loves the smell of summer and the sounds of the bugs that come out. Cicadas are his favorite noise on top of grasshoppers. He loves that he can swim in lakes and not freeze his ass off or just be lazy around the estate when he’s not on a mission)
Dislikes:
😝-bitter things(it tastes horrible to him. Ginger and cranberries are the *worst* to him. He is *super* allergic to them. His throat will swell up and he will start to break out in hives and start itching. He knows the taste of them because he tried them without knowing. Never again.)
🤜💫-people messing with his loved ones (he becomes super protective and a little possessive over his loved ones. If it’s a sibling, super protective. If it’s a lover he becomes both.)
🥶- the cold(he *hates* winter with a passion. The snow is beautiful, he won’t deny that. But at the end of the day, he hates how the cold makes him feel. Sure, he has his fire to keep him warm but it can only do so much)
🗣️-people talking down to him or people ordering him around(now, he knows that if he’s on a mission or a team, he’ll have to deal with it. But if it’s not the team captain or someone he is with, he *hates* being bossed around.)
🕷️- spiders(he hates those spawns of the Devil, he accidentally sat on a nest of spiders and had millions of spiders crawling all over him. To this day he will have someone else kill a spider for him or he’ll freeze in place.)
🌿-vinegar and Eucalyptus(he hates the smell of vinegar, it’s super strong and disgusting to him. Eucalyptus is equally disgusting to him because the smell can make him feel sick.)
🥺-being alone (while he is independent, he absolutely hates being alone. Sometimes he’ll go on missions where he is alone for months on end, but it’s not like he enjoys it. He’s a people person and once he finds his loved one, he’s staying by them until they get tired of him.)
His magic and fighting style
What is the magic the Belmont's are born with? Well, it depends on the person. Many of the Belmont's are born with different magic. You know what they have by their eyes.
Gold/red/aqua- Fire. If the fire is an aqua, then it is a very hot fire. It’s hotter than the red or golden fire.
Deep blue/pale blue-water and ice
Deep green- nature
Brown- Earth
Neon green/pale green- poison
Purple- healing
The Belmont's can be born with one magic type or two. Usually you can tell what they have by their eyes. Same eye color is one magic, two different colors are two different magic.
Louis was born with fire magic and he loves it. He doesn’t do well in cold conditions because while he can keep himself warm, it can tire him out if he tries to keep his body temperature up for long periods of time. He does have a lot of stamina but if he’s trying to stay warm for 5 hours to keep his body temperature up would either get him very sick or he would die.
Louis can create fire balls, light his weapons on fire or make the blades incredibly hot. He can melt through some metals, plastic and can burn wood. He can’t melt through anything, he would have to have hotter flames for that.
He can create fire sprites which are little balls of magic that are warm to the touch but when he snaps his fingers, they can explode. He also can make flames float in or on his hand. Or follow him around. That’s why he rarely ever brings torches with him.
He can create flames that aren’t harmful to others. Which means if he creates a fire and someone were to fall or step in it, it would feel warm to the touch. Now, if he were to create fire by using a fire starter, that fire would hurt others. Louis is immune to fire damage, yet it can still *hurt* him. He’s not completely safe from it. He’s safe from his fire though, but outside sources he’s not.
When he does use his powers or when he becomes angry, his eyes glow brighter until it looks like his eyes themselves are small flames. His eyes can flash a very deep orange to gold when he becomes angry or irritated. Louis can regulate his body temperature and keep others warm or himself warm. That’s why he loves the heat so much and sleeps in the sun. He can feel hot to the touch if he sleeps in the sun and people can become worried, but he’s perfectly fine.
Louis is weak to extreme cold weather and water. If he gets too cold, it takes him a little bit to get himself warm or create a fire. He can blow fire in his hands to get warmed up. Sort of like starting a furnace that’s close to going out.
Fighting style: Louis is a close ranged fighter, preferring to be up close and personal with his opponent. Of course he knows to back up and get on the defensive if it’s an enemy that needs to be taken down from afar then rush in when they are down. If he doesn’t have his sword, he is really good at hand to hand combat. Using his strength and speed to overwhelm his opponent. He can use quick and light attacks or heavy and slow attacks. Usually he likes using quick and heavy attacks to overthrow his opponent. Using upper cuts and blows to the stomach. He is very agile and flexible. He can flip and bounce around, sometimes even bending in odd ways to get his opponent.
Weapon(s): he has a sword he calls Ra which he straps to his hip. The blade is made from rare metals that had come from a fallen meteor. It’s a normal sword to anyone else, but when Louis holds it, it becomes more dangerous than anything else. He can set the blade on fire by running two fingers across it or heating the blade to the point it glows.
Louis is the third son of the Belmont family. They are a family of bounty hunters, monster hunters, doctors, adventurers, collectors and alchemists. They also sometimes work for the church to get rid of monsters that are too close to major cities or towns. They take jobs from families who have money and those who don’t. They are a very old family, have been around for many *many* generations and so they are a very rich noble family. Some of the Belmont's are well known around the world, some as great adventures and others as amazing and smart doctors.
The Belmont's are a family who are born with magic and different colored eyes depending on their magic. Their magic makes them more animalistic than others. There is magic in the world, but with the Belmont's it’s different. They are faster, stronger, and have a sensitive sense of smell, hearing and taste. They can sometimes lose themselves in battle, snarling, growling and sometimes even purring. Their teeth are far sharper than others. Some say it’s a curse that was placed on the Belmont's. Others say that’s just how the Belmont's were born. Sometimes out of battle they can be just as animalistic, protecting those close to them.
People think of them as demons from hell or just cursed beings. But the Belmont's are amazing allies to keep but terrifying enemies to make which is why the church hasn't really done anything about them. The church may have power and influence, but they can’t compare to the Belmont's magical and fighting abilities. Louis is one of the well known monster hunters, he does do bounties but usually if it gets his interest. He travels all over the world to find monsters who people have seen or if there are rumors of said monsters.

I'm currently working on a little hobgoblin race based off of the lore of the scottish brownie. (And wholly inspired by my feral friend Soda xoxo)
They reach up to about 3 and a half feet tall and currently are the embodiment of the "I swallowed shampoo" meme but without the regret.
Lets just say that this race is a menace to smaller races, a nuisance to larger races, and absolute trolls to humans.
They are in the same world as the Bensu and Rae races I've made, and are the main reason why these two tiny races live within the human's world rather than in the hidden underground.
They have a hard enough time keeping their populations stable without these feral gremlins called the Nocsici (Nu-ze-chi) being a hindrance to their well being.
Current lore and information on the Nucsici bellow.
The Nucsici are a very carefree and reckless race of small humanoid creatures.
Their bodies take on an array of colors (due to something we'll get into later) and they don't appear to grow that much larger than 3.5 feet tall.
They have incredibly poofy and unkempt hair that covers their eyes more often than not.
Their wardrobes seem to consist of stitched together clothes they yoinked off of some poor saps clothes line; or more commonly, they have clothes made from animal hide.
Their arms are large in comparison to their body, most having an array of feathers trailing from their wrist and past their elbows. Their hands are large and donned with big claws made perfectly for tearing at the earth or climbing in the trees.
They have comparably smaller legs that are almost bird like in appearance but they end in something more akin to cloven hooves. Despite being small, these legs are powerful and can send them dashing at surprising speeds.
They have tails that aid in this agility, keeping them balanced as they dash through their environments with fluid ease. Whether it be running on the ground or leaping between trees.
They love to pull crazy stunts and pranks, and consider themselves apex predators.
This isn't entirely untrue, they are very fearsome omnivores who will eat just about anything with their jagged teeth. They are especially scary in groups despite their small size (think of them like the packs of African wild dogs, small but deadly in packs). They often take on creatures far larger than themselves, even stealing treasures from hoarding drakes and lyndwurms for their own shiny hoards.
Like the little gremlins they are, they love shiny objects and jewels. Their homes are usually full of strange collections.
Its safe to assume that the Nucsici are in fact, collectively crazy and reckless. But don't take this as them being dumb; they are incredibly crafty, and its this aspect that is feared the most about them by other more prominent races.
They do, however, have a natural predator in the form of giant horned carnivorous moles that infiltrate their expansive cave and burrow homes. The moles seem built specifically to hunt Nucsici, but can still be fended off after some pestering from feral warriors protecting their home and people.
A Nucsici's diet seems to mostly consist of rodents, foraged fruits, goods stolen from the kitchens of other races, and whatever they can get their clawed hands on.
What is most concerning to magic bearing races however, is the fact that the Nucsici love to eat magic. They can just gobble it up, and its even more effective if they have clear sight of a target.
This makes them a detriment to races even smaller than themselves. Lets say for example, a Bensu gets caught by a Nucsici. They don't have more than their levitation abilities but that's plenty enough to encourage a Nucsici to leave them drained of their energy. This feeding doesn't inherently kill the smaller more fragile races; but they are lucky if the hobgob doesn't decide to just eat them afterwards.
Its near impossible to fend them off with magic (the word magic being used loosely, its more like they sap the raw energy of any nonphysical ability their target posses, along with their physical strength as a side affect). The more explosive the energy the more inclined they are to devour it.
(Funnily enough, non-magic entities seem to be the safest from Nucsici.)
They seem to convert stolen magic into their own form of magic which they use in many ways from transcending worlds (mostly to mess with humans for fun) to even reproduction.
Nows the prime time to mention that the Nucsici are a completely genderless race, and the way they reproduce is unconventional.
Essentially, they make a potion which manifests an egg.
Known contents of the mixture consists of the following:
Water (or any fun drink they got their hands on)
The bones of any creature
A valuable object (preferably shiny)
Glucose (the amount appears to affect just how feral the gremlin will grow up to be)
And then the uniquely converted magic of the parent(s).
There is more to it than the basic list above but its not as if the Nucsici will share that info.
The potion results in the creation of a little jeweled egg that the parent(s) will guard fervently. Nocsici, despite their carefree nature, really care for their young.
The color of the jeweled egg and subsequent hatched offspring is determined by whatever shiny valuable was thrown into the mixture.
(The Nucsici hierarchy appears to consist of Nucsici made with the rarest of valuables, and the contents of said valuables appears to determine the full strength of the Nucsici too.)
Nucsici offspring are like little chicks with far fluffier bodies and arm feathers they haven't grown into, they even chirp like little birds.
Baby Nucsici can glide with their small bodies and large feathers. They use this to play or to escape sticky situations.
There is more I could say about my feral children, but I will leave it at that for now. If you have any questions about these lil hobgobs (or even my other races) feel free to leave an ask.
Until then

Jacob Lawrence/Lines of Influence "Brownstones"/1958/gouache on board/ https://www.scadmoa.org/exhibitions/2017/lines-of-influence
Alberta Hunter/Chirpin' the Blues/1923
"Lord, I cried all night long and all the night before
I say I cried all night and all the night before
Gonna change my way of living so I won't have to cry no more
The majority of the art covered thus far, aside from art of Africa, is from Europe, we haven't talked much about art from America. The tricky thing is, what is then defined as American art? Much of America, especially in its early history, was essentially rebranded from Europe. The Harlem Renaissance is the first time we see art that is truly unique to America, along with Jazz, a form of music that is uniquely American. The Harlem Renaissance sought to define blackness not deemed by the white patriarchal society of America. African Americans wanted to make art by and for black people, removed from the racist stereotypes that flooded American entertainment.
Jacob Lawrence's painting, Lines of Influence "Brownstones", is like a window into black life much in the way that Zora Neale Hurston does in her works (a writer from the Harlem Ren.). It shows black people just existing, just as everyone else does, but the way in which it was painted makes it belong uniquely to the Harlem Renaissance, and by proxy also Black Art.
This Renaissance was not just exclusive to art, but it flooded every mode of creation. Alberta Hunter is a Blues singer from this period. Much like how art has movements and different styles, so does music. Blues is just one genre that is frequently covered by the Jazz umbrella. Blues, though, has a very distinct sound and meaning that does not fall into the broad Jazz umbrella. In the words of Ralph Ellison (Author of Invisible Man), “The blues is an impulse to keep the painful details and episodes of a brutal experience alive in one's aching consciousness, to finger its jagged grain, and to transcend it, not by the consolation of philosophy but by squeezing from it a near-tragic, near-comic lyricism." Hunter captures this in her song Chirpin' the Blues. The lyrics, repetitive in nature, take on a melancholy tone detailing loss and sorrow. Blues, in general, encompasses much of the pain that African Americans could not openly express for a long time. This has been present in African American literature, art, and music much longer than the popularity of Blues' but now, aligning with the purpose of the Harlem Renaissance, black people are openly sharing their uniquely black experience.

Visual Analysis-Ringling Museum of Art
Still Life with Parrots is an oil painting created by Jan Davidsz de Heem. This painting is originally 150.5 x 117.5 cm. Still life with Parrots’ color scheme is very vibrant and warm with the main subject/focus being the fruits and seafood scattered across the table and the two parrots placed in the center of the painting.
Dutch painter, Jan Davidsz. De Heem, was born in Utrecht into a great family of artists, lived in Antwerp for the majority of his life and rose to fame for his beautiful and luxurious still life paintings. In the middle decades of the 17th century, De Heem worked in Antwerp, Utrecht, and Leiden. He was viewed as a genius by his peers and even rivals – some later/modern still-life painters were influenced by his work and often tried to copy it. Throughout the 17th century, De Heem had a significant impact on the evolution of still-life painting in the Netherlands. His paintings are among the most expensive Dutch works of art, and he is now considered as one of the greatest still-life painters of the 17th century (Osnabrugge).
In Leiden, De Heem started his career by painting Vanitas still lifes. De Heem included elements of the Antwerp artists of still life and kitchen items in the 1930s. Additionally, he relocated to Antwerp in 1635, where he created a unique style that blended the Dutch "pronk," or fantasy still life, with the colorful Flemish culture. Created between 1640 and 1642, this sophisticated style gained significant traction in the Netherlands and Flanders and didn't change much after that. Flemish Baroque painting's rich extravagance is reflected in his most famous pieces, which were produced in Flanders and include beautiful flower arrangements and beautifully arranged tables.
In addition to fruits and seafood, De Heem's exquisite still-life paintings featured valuable objects such as rare shells, Venetian glass, and gold and silver pieces. Fruits and flowers may be found in most of de Heem's works. Engraved words that expressed Christian symbolism and vanitas themes were seen in several of his works. Through the use of shadows and light as well as architectural details, he gave his compositions depth. To increase the visual impact of these objects, De Heem regularly used delicate coatings and focused shimmering light to illuminate it (Osnabrugge). Likewise, Still Life with Parrots features an assortment of natural objects, including rare seashells from the East and West Indies, a Brazilian scarlet macaw, an African gray parrot, and exotic fruits from southern climates—all of which originate from different regions of the world. Additionally, the slanted plate with oranges and peaches represents moral degeneration and instability (Osnabrugge).
Still Life with Parrots makes great use of a variety of colors and shapes. The painting creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere through the use of warm earth tones, deep greens, and rich reds. Furthermore, the artwork consists of shapes ranging from the sharp edges of the glass to the soft, rounded forms of the fruits and the round bulging spheres forming the large golden vase. To emphasize the texture of the Brazilian macaw parrot, De Heem added rough contours and jagged, broken lines.
The two parrots are the primary subject, and they are surrounded by a table of food, such as luscious grapes, cantaloupe, pomegranate, oranges, peaches, and figs, as well as shrimp, oysters, and a vibrant lobster. The plates are loaded with shrimp and oysters, giving the appearance of a chaotic and disorganized arrangement. Additionally, Realistic lighting and textures are used in this de Heem painting to give the impression of depth. It includes items of various forms (asymmetrical and symmetrical), sizes (such as a giant lobster and small shrimp), and textures (feathers, metals, and shells). Consequently, each object is shown in great detail; the painting has unity due to the well-balanced composition and clever color scheme. For instance, red is used throughout to bring the composition together, while the green hues increase greater as we move towards the center. As a result, the painting offers a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere due to the variety of shapes, textures, and vibrant colors. The composition is well-organized as a result of the parrots positioned near the center and the harmonization of the surrounding objects. Moreover, the parrots are emphasized through their vibrant colors and intricate textures, which contrast with the surrounding’s subdued colors. In addition, shapes are repeated throughout the piece to create rhythm and guide the viewer's attention across the canvas. The harmony and accuracy of the painting are enhanced by careful use of proportion. The large parrots attract attention right away, however the smaller flowers and glasses, as well as the different-sized fruits, create a well-balanced arrangement. The still life appears nearly three-dimensional due to its strategic arrangement that naturally directs the viewer's attention across the canvas. Ultimately, the artwork achieves unity by a consistent color scheme and detail throughout; it offers a range of textures, from the polished fruits to the delicate parrot feathers.
Furthermore, Still Life with Parrots is associated with the Dutch Baroque period. Still-life art is exactly what it sounds like, lifeless art. However, De Heem gives it life by cleverly using the vibrant colors and the complex placement of each object. This contrast contradicts its name: "Still-Life". Still Life with Parrots demonstrates the artist's attention to detail as well as his appreciation for the beauty of nature. De Heem's artistic ability and his ability to portray the complicated textures and vibrant colors of his subjects are evident in the detailed and colorful portrayal of the parrots, fruits, seafood, and flowers. The central theme of this piece of artwork is abundance. The abundance of items and fruits on display represents prosperity and fortune. Indications of abundance include objects arranged in an unorganized manner; thus, giving the appearance that the table is overflowing with luxurious food and objects. There is symbolic significance to the grapes, in particular. Along with bread and wine, the grapes in the basket could possibly symbolize the Eucharist in Christian symbolism. The red grapes may indicate Christ's blood, while the green or white grapes represent innocence. The idea of luxury and variety is further enhanced by the use of different seashells, fresh fruits, and seafood.
Based on my research and understanding of the artwork, David de Heem's Still Life with Parrots is noteworthy because it skillfully portrays the depth and abundance of life. The artwork is both aesthetically pleasing and intriguing since it contradicts the meaning of “still-life” paintings. I chose this particular piece of art because it demonstrates how an artist's talent can turn ordinary objects into something lively and significant. Heem's Still Life with Parrots inspires admiration for the abundance of life and the beauty of the natural world. As a foodie, the artwork quickly caught my attention, especially the assortment of fruits. The warm color palette offers a welcoming sense of comfort. Each fruit's texture and shape are so carefully detailed that I could nearly taste it, creating a sensual experience that goes beyond just the visual aspect. Although being labeled as a still-life, there is life radiating throughout the painting. It conveys a universal message that encourages us to consider the temporary nature of life and enjoy the beauty all around us. Here is a picture of me at the museum:

Rising Star Jessenation Drops Infectious New Single "Redemption" Imagine a phoenix, not of flames, but of infectious rhythms. That is the core of Jessenation's "Redemption," a genre-hopping masterpiece that moves beyond such labels like a record player on shuffle. Afrobeat throbs like a hummingbird's heart, and reggae lays down a cool island breeze, while dancehall slips in with a sly, syncopated wink. https://open.spotify.com/track/3duydZLyqdvfhLvg5zHIMo?si=421820daa72946a4 This ain't your average poolside dancehall. Jessenation's lyrics are more like soulful conversations, dripping in wisdom. He sings of overcoming struggles with the smooth flow of a sculptor working the clay. Featured artist Jesse Jags added that smoky seasoned layer, like the perfectly aged rum behind the tropical cocktail. "Redemption" doesn't mean just getting triumph over personal battles. It's about the redemption in the music itself. It's a sonic haven in which you let it all go: worries, troubles, and in this throbbing bass and soothing melodies, find peace—for this feeling you get when you have chanced upon a secret beach at sunset, peace washing over you with the rhythm of the waves. [caption id="attachment_56452" align="alignnone" width="1440"] Rising Star Jessenation Drops Infectious New Single "Redemption"[/caption] The real trip, folks, is that Jessenation's music is not all rainbows and steel drums. Underneath the throbbing beats lies an underscoring social commentary and subtle rebellion that's like a pot cooking on low. Similar to those ancient African masks that are beautiful and intricate, but behind the surface holds a silent wisdom that speaks volumes. This single from the upcoming debut album “GRACE” does augur very well for a strong kicking-off point in the Jessenation musical journey. "Redemption" is a powerful reminder that sometimes, from the ashes of challenge, comes our greatest growth. Leaving one in anticipation of where this artistic journey will take this very talented artist, it will leave you wanting more. Follow Jessenation on Website, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram

Mozambique, a southeastern African country renowned for its stunning coastline and diverse landscapes, provides recreation opportunities for its inhabitants in the form of its iconic cliffs. These cliffs, found along the picturesque coastline and throughout the interior of the country, offer a unique setting for one particular group of skilled artisans - the blacksmiths.
The land of Mozambique is rich in mineral resources, making it an ideal location for the ancient craft of blacksmithing. The country's cliffs, formed by millions of years of geological processes, are made up of various types of rock such as granite, sandstone and limestone. These rocks are often rich in iron ore, a key ingredient in the production of iron and steel.
For centuries, blacksmiths in Mozambique have utilized these cliffs as a source of raw materials. They would carefully extract the iron ore from the cliffs and use their traditional techniques to smelt and forge it into tools, weapons, and other objects. The steep and jagged cliffs provided natural shelter and shade for the blacksmiths as they worked, making it an ideal location for their trade.
Aside from being a vital resource for blacksmiths, the Mozambican cliffs also offer a beautiful backdrop for outdoor recreation. The dramatic cliffs, with their rugged and untouched beauty, attract adventurers and climbers from around the world. Many travel to the country specifically to scale these natural wonders, while others explore the nooks and crannies of the cliffs for a glimpse into the past lives of the blacksmiths.
Additionally, the cliffs provide a home to a variety of plant and animal species, making them a popular spot for nature lovers and photographers. Hiking trails and lookout points are often found along the cliffs, providing a perfect opportunity to take in the breathtaking views and observe the diverse flora and fauna.
In recent years, the Mozambican government has recognized the potential for eco-tourism in these areas and has taken steps to protect and preserve the cliffs. This not only ensures the conservation of this natural resource but also provides sustainable economic opportunities for the local communities, including the blacksmiths who continue to utilize the cliffs for their craft.
In conclusion, the Mozambican cliffs provide a unique combination of resources and natural beauty that make them an essential element of recreation in the country. From supplying vital materials to supporting outdoor activities and eco-tourism, the cliffs are a testament to the rich culture and heritage of Mozambique and its inhabitants.
