Very nice post which I 200% agree with. I would like to add another reason as to why RukiYui is such a wonderful ship and that is the life lesson that Ruki learns through being with Yui. Namely that it is okay to be selfish, to grasp your own happiness no matter what others may think, to live for your own sake. Because the thing with Ruki is that up until this point he never has. You can rightfully call him a number of things. Cold? As ice. Controlling? Incredibly. Sadistic? Naturally. Jealous & Possessive? Very much so. Hypocritical? 100%. A snake? Indubitably. A Karlheinz dickrider? Regrettably yes. But selfish? No. This is a man who ever since his "rebirth" has lived wholly for the sake of others, namely his brothers and especially "Karlheinz-sama". His entire existence as a Vampire has been devoted exclusively to caring for his family or carrying out his benefactor's wishes no matter what. His undead life is not and never has been his own. A fact which is emphasized time and time again and which has of course negatively impacted him. It is a fact that living entirely for the best interests others is a recipe for unhappiness and it will take its toll on your mental health. Ruki is no different, something which is made clear if you play his routes or listen to his CDs. The man may appear stoic and composed but he carries around a massive amount of inner stress, burdened by the sense of obligation and responsibilty he feels. He is unquestionably unhappy and has been so for the majority of his life, admitting more than once how his undead life lacks true meaning and how he's often wished that he had simply died as a human. It is not until he falls in love with Yui – a woman who brings both aforementioned meaning as well as color to his life – that he even begins to contemplate going against Karlheinz's wishes. He does eventually decide to do the "selfish" thing for once and elopes with Yui, which is the first time in his second life that he has claimed something wholly of his own volition, and in doing so at last living for no one but himself. He has in his own words "finally obtained it". His blue sky. His freedom. His happiness.

And that is a wonderful thing. I couldn't be prouder of or more happy for Ruki for breaking free of the burden of always living for someone else's interests. Without Yui in his life he never experiences this, and that is one of the many reasons why this ship always makes me emotional and why RukiYui will forever be my OTP.

(Idk if any of this made sense i just typed whatever came to my head without proofreading so forgive me if its a rambling mess I just have a lot of feelings about these two ><)

hello 👋 may we know why ruki x yui is your fav ship?

Me after seeing this ask : Taking out a large list of reasons why Rukiyui is my favorite. Lol

But before that I need to say that I love all Diaboys x Yui ships and all diaboys x Yui ships are my 13 favorite otp in whole dl story . I mean there is no ship in diaboys x Yui that I hate or dislike I like all of them. But Rukiyui is really really really special to me . I love and die for this ship . My favorite and beloved couple 🤧🤧.

And reasons :

1_ Yui is the only girl who can make Ruki to say I love you . I mean we are talking about Ruki . The boy who doesn't trust women and doesn't believe in love . Yui made Ruki drop this hard opinion. As Ruki said, Yui always changes his rigid opinions easily. Yui is the only girl to whom Ruki said I failed against you and told her I love you.

2_ Ruki rarely cries. Since Ruki's personality is like mine ( we are both INTJ ), I know that these characters rarely cry and don't express their emotions easily. But Ruki cried after reading Yui's letter in which Yui wrote I miss you ( DF Ecstasy prologue ). This shows that Yui can make Ruki show his emotions and even cry. This shows that Yui is so important to Ruki that Ruki cries for her. And believe me, it is true when I say that the INTJs are difficult to cry.

3_ Imagine Ruki called Yui livestock for the first item then this word changed to angel . Yui is his angel 🤧🤧🤧 .

4_ The most important reason is Ruki is even willing to betray karlhines, who is completely loyal to him, for Yui's sake. I think it's absolutely clear that Ruki admires karlhines more than anyone else and swears loyalty to him. But Ruki is willing to break this promise for Yui's sake and betray Karlheinz.

Just look at these sweet kisses . He is kinda eating Yui . Yui is everything to him . Yui is his angel . His meaning of life .

Just look at him smiling at Yui with a soft look . His smile is full of love . This love is really special because this man didn't believe in love and now he is looking at a girl with a big love . 💘💘💘💘💘💘

Mr personal opinion is that Ruki wants to change his destiny for Yui . He can't be Adam and can't stay with Eve . But he doesn't accept this fate and decides to change it for Yui . For his angel . For his love .

Guys, today is a very important day for me. I know I haven't been very active, but I want to get back to Fandom as soon as possible! Diabolik Lovers is an important part of me as a whole. It feels like yesterday was the day I discovered the anime; however, it has been many years. I discovered anime when I was nine years old, back in 2015, and I have had a love for games, anime, and manga for a long time. However, it was only in the middle of 2021/2022 that I discovered a fandom that is still so alive after years... However, some people are probably wondering why today is a special day for me and where I want to go with this simple speech: today is my beloved character's birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAITO!

This fedora hat shading your emerald green eyes and your somewhat complex and captivating personality, this character who certainly was a great source of trauma for the unaware, this utterly deplorable and broken character represents a lot to me in different extensions and senses depending on the time when I consumed it. For my 9-year-old self, it was my love for vampires and my continuous hyperfocus being fueled. For my 12 and 14-year-old selves, it was a great source of comfort and affection; it also served as a discovery and a reminder of past experiences which unfortunately I had to go through and endured throughout my years of life. At 19 years old, it signifies my profound love for broken characters, Otome games, and it has been the main impetus for me to currently seek a deeper diagnosis regarding my neurodivergences. This character helped me deal with experiences that I had blocked and didn't know how to process. This character isn't everything, but it means a lot to me. That's why I say happy birthday, you stupid vampire! Thank you for being a part of my life and introducing me to such wonderful people on the internet.

I would like to thank everyone who has had contact with me, you are all wonderful people!

Shuyui or Yumayui????

Have you ever paid attention? Shu and Yuma love Yui's feet and love to sleep on them like a pillow, admitting that Yui's feet make them feel comfortable.

I always imagined what would have happened if, in addition to Yuma, Yui was Shu's childhood friend, and these three were best friends, and in adulthood both Shu and Yuma fell in love with Yui. I had like a private conversation with Afra @afra-blueraz about this and she encouraged me to write my own story. I will soon publish this story on AO3 and here in my blog too and I hope you like it.

Hearing Ruki crying, after seeing Yui's simple message "I miss you" in the dark fate ecstasy prologue after she submitted herself to Shin to protect the Mukamis', made me cry along too

His painful cries for Yui because he is oh so deeply in love with her. Yep, Yui made this unpredictable guy who always remains calm and has control over his emotions, cry and an emotional mess.

Reading the translations on the Tumblr already brought me into shambles but finally hearing it, yeah I'm totally broken now. totally.

I swear listening to all dark fate routes and seeing their voice being filled with emotions(compared to their emotionless voices in HDB) towards Yui is such a masterpiece 😭 that's development right there.
