Why are we hating the AHFH festival format now? Seen that post going around. It is like criticism of everything Louis does lately. AFHF is now not a festival or WAOYF music video is not a video. Nothing Louis does lately make you happy? Why stay in fandom only to bitch about every single thing Louis does and tell him that you think you know better and that he should do it like you want and imagine him to do it. Louis chose BMG independent label to be independed not like Columbia doing 1D promo 

I don’t know what to tell you anon other than that some of us still possess the ability to think for ourselves and the mental acumen to recognize that the marketing and promotion for Louis’ projects is not being handled correctly

you wanna applaud his team’s mediocre (this is me being generous) efforts? good for you, you go right ahead… but there will always exist those of us who just want (and think that he deserves) a lot better for him

that being said, there’s always ways to curate your online experience so that you see only the rosy, rainbows and butterflies content, maybe try to do that if reality based topics bother you to the point where you have to send the same anon message to multiple accounts

The crowd doing a rainbow lights project during COACOAC at the AFHF (x) - 27/08/22

I think this deserves bringing back. We have:

- rainbow wheel and smiley during Livestream in December 2020

- pride flag wearing participants interviewed at start of AFHF livestream and heavily profiled during Only the Brave segment September 2021

- during this 2022 LTWorldTour: Louis saying “thank you for the flag love” to a participant throwing a lesbian flag, wearing a shirt by an out gay artist and playing music by an out gay artist ahead of the show, and pointing to participants with rainbow and pride gear

I think we can also safely say we’re moving beyond the area of “support to the community” as he has, night after night, thanked his audience for their support (of him? of the community?or both as in: him as part of the community?) after “only the brave” which has become the moment where fans break out the rainbow lights and pride flags in numbers we hadn’t seen before. Sometimes he’s done it after Beautiful War when there was a rainbow project during that - and he’s also said “come on get em out” in advance of Only the Brave so we know it’s connected to those projects. At one occasion after Only the Brave - he specifically mentioned how comfortable and “protected” he felt by the audience’s support. That wording says everything.

Louis’ LGBTQ+ support

The other day I had an anon complaining - I suspect - about my post on Louis’ contribution to the Rainbow Chain, telling me, among other things, to “come back when [Louis] shows real support”. This really irked me. 

So much, that here is an entire masterpost of its own, with all the LGBTQ+ support we’ve seen from Louis. Because there is loads of it, if you are only willing to see it. No pics, all text and references, this already took me forever because there is lots to collect:

- First put together with One Direction, Louis seemed to be having a pretty good time at the G-A-Y gig so at the very least we can safely assume he was never a homophobe…

- … in fact, even back then, he actively challenged interviewers’ suggestions that male fans were not appreciated saying “whatever floats your boat”, and, to the question whether he prefers straight or gay fans, has said he loves « all of [his] fans, no matter what or who they are. » 

- But he’s shown active support as well: alongside BlackLivesMatter, mental health, and women’s rights stuff, there were articles on LGBTQ+ rights, marriage equality and gender identity in his Just Like You music video

- And it’s not token support, he showed himself to be very caring and supportive towards LGBTQ+ contestants in TXF

- … and he casually hung out and had his fotograph taken with a fan in the gay neighborhood while on a trip to Amsterdam, again, you can’t say he’s homophobic 

- During Walls promo, he continued to show this supportive attitude to LGBTQ+ people when he signed the CD of two girls carrying a pride flag with “be proud”, he signed two girls’ pride flags with his smiley (x,x,x), and told a girl who brought her girlfriend to the signing it was “cool, wicked, amazing”. All of them reported that he did so happily, not batting an eyelid, and LGBTQ+ people who met  him stated they felt safe and appreciated (x, x) Years ago already, he signed a rainbow direction tote bag with that smiley so this should have been no surprise. 

- And it’s the same during shows: he pointed out all the pride flags (x, x, x, x, x) during his Poptopia show, with similar reports from CCME Madrid, the Jingle ball Z100 show (see also x,x,x), the Scala show for Warchild UK , and his show in Barcelona ( x, x ). Again, he already did stuff like that years ago ( x, x, x,) so this should not have been a surprise.

I’m not sure how any of this, very consistent support can get dismissed as “not real”. 

In any case, it’s in the above context that we have to understand that when…

- …Louis wears rainbow themed shirts on days when Rainbow Direction had no signed participants (three times!) and a rainbow apple shirt just after Apple CEO Tim Cook came out and Harry said that gender was “not that important”…

… you can’t just dismiss that as “not a stricly a pride flag” so “not really supportive of LGBTQ+”, particularly not when he has also:

- put rainbow visuals in his music video for “we made it”, (which are also featured in out gay artist Alfi Arcuri’s “If they only knew” music video about two guys first figuring out their feelings for eachother); 

- featured a rainbow river in the mural announcing his setlist; and

- has shown a rainbow coloured smiley at the start of his shows 

In conclusion: given how much rainbows Louis features; given how strongly rainbows are associated with the LGBTQ+ cause; and most of all given how supportive Louis has been to specific LGBTQ+ people in the fandom, I think it’s very unfair to say Louis has never shown real support. He does it all the time.

anyway thinking about how extra gay harry helped make the last hslot europe shows when we were already crying about it all ending soon, how he walked around with a flag on each of his shoulders, how he got flags for different songs, how extra the final performance of lights up was, how he gave it the best farewell he could

no because i’m not letting how huge this is go, ever. while louis (and the crew) have been acknowledging this as much as he and they could (the rainbow flag with his smiley on the tourbus, the flags on the igtvs), the flags for otb as the most prominent and steadiest project during ltwt was never acknowledged explicitly, even though it became such a safe space. when speaking about projects during the tour, louis spoke about the kmm lights primarily and only recently spoke about the lights in a manner that suggested he may mean the rainbow ones, the rainbow lights at afhf being acknowledged by him pointing and by copy being registered was absolutely incredibly huge. an article mentioning the lights made him happy was unthinkable. and that didn’t come from him, so for him to be asked about otb and it being a queer anthem directly and saying it’s an amazing feeling, an amazing feeling! saying it’s amazing twice, directly, that’s just…. yeah
