the way SM handles aespa rn is such a mess tho. theres a lot of wasted potential! like choosing a brand that as innovative as their concept (givenchy just aint doing it for me)or promoting the aes more. they already took the risk by introducing a group concept that no one has ever done before in kpop and yet their approach when it to comes marketing the group is still very traditional to me. but then who know? SM r always full of suprises 🤷‍♀️ so maybe theres something in the future to look forward??

For now they're focusing on pushing whatever will bring them the most (+ the most stable) money; so, essentially, whatever is most general-public friendly. I'm not sure if they're thinking of actually abandoning the bulk of their concept and storyline to make things less "complicated" for people to get into the group, but I do see them cutting out some things (mostly stuff we haven't even seen or heard it - so to avoid adding on and having to develop more of the story). This most recent era of them had the results the company expected, so they might want to continue with this fresh/fun/"realistic" type of concept in the future or alternate between the 2.

Over at the next table, Y/N and the Daydream members were engaged in polite conversation with their sunbaes — Rosé, a few actors, and well-known figures in the industry.

By now, the first course had been served and enjoyed, light snacks and refreshing drinks keeping the guests entertained as the gala smoothly progressed.

As staff prepared the next meal, another performance was introduced.

D.O. took the stage again.

This time, the music was different. Slower. Nostalgic. A few murmurs rippled across the tables as the opening chords of a classic R&B song filled the venue.

The moment D.O. started singing, the entire hall seemed to pause.

Especialmente cuando se encontraba con todo tipo de comentarios maliciosos en cualquiera de las publicaciones que la involucraran a ella o al grupo. Finalmente había llegado ese momento en el que se sentía completamente frustrada, una y otra vez pensaba que no era para ella el mundo del entretenimiento.

El pensamiento de renunciar, de alejarse por el bien común comenzaba a apoderarse de su mente, haciéndola sentir cada vez más triste al grado de que no podía ocultar su preocupación en algunas fotografías o presentaciones, lo que sólo seguía trayendo comentarios negativos. Como un círculo vicioso del que no podía escapar.

La semana de la moda en París estaba por tener lugar en Francia. El grupo aespa había sido invitado por parte de Givenchy como sus embajadoras. Afortunadamente, todas habían sido invitadas así que quizá el viaje le ayudaría a sentirse mejor, a despejarse un poco de ese ambiente tóxico en el que muchas veces se encerraba ella misma al no dejar de leer los diversos foros.

Como si de una adicción se tratase.

En el aeropuerto de Corea del Sur rumbo a París, no pudo evitar sentirse un poco fuera de lugar cuando todo tipo de cartas o saludos eran dirigidos a sus compañeras. La mayoría de los presentes no notaban su presencia, a excepción de un par de personas que corrían para saludarla. De pronto, aquella soledad le recordó al debut, cuando los medios deliberadamente borraban su cara de las fotografías como si no estuviera ahí, como si no fuera mas que una intrusa.

Los constantes llamados hacia sus compañeras le hizo despertar. Aeri cubrió bien su rostro con aquellos lentes oscuros mientras dedicaba a los paparazzi la sonrisa más visible que al momento podía mostrar, aunque era fingida. Una vez dentro del avión se refugió en su asiento, cerrando los ojos para intentar deshacerse del sentimiento agridulce que provocaba que una presión en su pecho fuese cada vez más fuerte.

Entonces, la presencia de sus tres compañeras hacía que aquella carga fuese menos pesada. No es que ellas no estuviesen conscientes de la situación o que ignoraran sus sentimientos, Giselle sabía bien que no había mucho que ellas pudieran hacer. Todo estaba sobre sus hombros, debía mejorar en un cien por ciento o quizá comenzar a dejar que todos esos comentarios se resbalaran sin causar algún efecto negativo en ella.

Era más fácil decirlo que hacerlo.

En cuanto el avión aterrizó en la ciudad de la moda, Giselle bajó las escaleras con cuidado para dirigirse al interior del aeropuerto. Como era de esperarse, una gran multitud de paparazzi, así como de fanáticos esperaba a que las cuatro chicas pasaran por ese andén para saludarlas o conseguir algún vídeo corto como prueba de que habían compartido el mismo espacio.

La japonesa tomó una gran bocanada de aire cuando sintió nervios de cruzar esa puerta. Generalmente iban las tres chicas primero, después ella, siempre era así. Intencional o no. Apenas pusieron un pie dentro del edificio, los diversos llamados de fanáticos comenzaron a sonar, provocando un revolotear en su corazón cuando escuchó que alguien la llamaba. Giselle miró en todas direcciones, encontrando a un par de personas que con tanto entusiasmo le hacían entrega de algunas cartas mientras la saludaban y le expresaban verbalmente que estaban sumamente emocionados de verla ahí.

Era tan diferente la atmósfera de la llegada a la que había sentido con anterioridad, como si había atravesado un túnel de oscuridad que había terminado en una cálida luz, una cálida sensación. La sonrisa tímida de Aeri se mostró mientras estiraba sus manos para tomar todas esas cartas que recibía por parte de los fanáticos. Las indicaciones del staff de seguridad habían sido claras, pero para ella, el percibir ese tipo de demostraciones afectivas era todo lo que necesitaba, literalmente.

Estaba emocionada, demasiado. El recibimiento por parte de las personas de París había sido tan cálido que no podía evitar mostrar una sonrisa más llena de entusiasmo, devolviendo cada gesto que podía al firmar tantos objetos como pudiese. Era imposible quedarse ahí para siempre, pero lo hubiera hecho en otras circunstancias. Se hubiese quedado firmando cada una de las cosas que le ponían enfrente, así como se hubiese quedando platicando con cada uno de los presentes que con tanto cariño llamaban su atención.

El evento se había ido tan rápido, como arena colándose entre sus dedos. La sesión de fotografías por parte de Marie Claire había tomado lugar en algún punto cerca del jardín que aquel espacio tenía. Estaba sumamente ansiosa por poder mostrar a todos esa nueva silueta con el vestido negro que el estilista había elegido para ella. Desde el último momento en que había recibido todo tipo de quejas acerca de su apariencia, se había esforzado al cien para mostrarle a todos que podía encajar con los estándares como sus demás compañeras.

Representar a Givenchy siempre había sido un honor, aún cuando a algunas personas les parecía una marca absurda. Incluso si las comparaban con algunos otros grupos femeninos de su generación —o de pasadas—, era un momento que marcaría la carrera de las chicas.

Los comentarios llenos de críticas que no pretendían aportar nada positivo o constructivo siempre estaban presentes, creando en ella una neblina que parecía nublar todos esos buenos momentos que había pasado a pesar de todo.

De vuelta en el hotel, nuevamente se había dado cuenta mediante esos comentarios, que a nadie le había gustado la selección de vestidos que usaron en el evento de la Semana de la moda en París. Era curioso, no estaba segura de la razón de tal disgusto pero todos tenían sus opiniones. Muchos señalaban que no parecían mas que un grupo de chicas que iban a su baile de graduación, nada profesionales. Otros más señalaban a una integrante en específico que aparentemente era la única que parecía una verdadera celebridad.

"Esto realmente no es para mi", era un constante pensamiento que asaltaba su mente una y otra vez mientras se perdía en la negatividad de aquellos comentarios que no pretendían más que lastimarlas. Todo ello siempre pesaba muchísimo, lo negativo podía ser más que las buenas cualidades, al menos hasta que con mucho cariño recordaba la cálida bienvenida que los MY de Francia les habían dado, especialmente a ella.

Ese gesto que podía ser pequeño para muchos, significaba el mundo para ella.

Quizá ser un Idol no era del todo para ella, pero no se rendiría ante ese pensamiento. No encontrando en medio de tanta oscuridad, algo del amor que recibía por parte de aquel grupo de fanáticos llamados Aerishines. Incluso si eran pocos o muchísimos, eran suficientes para ella.

Suficientes para que Giselle fuese aún más valiente al decidir continuar con aquel sueño que había tenido desde que era adolescente.

also! i’m absolutely living for real world aespa. there were so many things that gave me nostalgia such as rom-coms, coming-of-age films, chick flicks, etc. basically american pop culture in the 2000s and 2010s. i also love the last scenes of the spicy mv because it was giving powerpuff girls and totally spies.

taking a look at your page, youre an aespa akgae so i'll try to be brief since you wont listen anyway before i block you and your weirdo friend.

no, obviously sm didn't sit down and say "oh we're gonna take Exo's concept and redo it to give it to aespa" bc while theyre stupid, they arent that stupid. they just do what they always do and recycle things other groups did, with that majority of concepts coming from things in Exo's story and lore.

sm literally said that nct is in the same part of world as aespa and that thats where their videos and universe is set. so thats one senior, Irene appeared in one of the lore videos so thats another group as well. Hyo was rumored to be an upcoming villain after black mamba but ig they scrapped that idea. the company has specifically stated that every group plays a role in the universe or the creation of the kwangya verse so like yeah every group is tied into it now.

wayv literally went through a whole ass hiatus and multiple members did not know whether they'd work again. i get that dream and 127 get a lot, but thats at the expense of their members health and safety and not every member gets treated the same way within those groups. theres disparities between members that should be taken into consideration as well.

aespa being profitable since debut means almost nothing really. they have four members compared to the much larger groups everyone else has or had. also keeping in mind that conditions were vastly different between some of the other groups and today. sm has to put more money into nct to get a return bc the amount of members makes it impossible to profit, but thats how companies always operate. and to address your point of disparity between debuts, yeah of course there is bc there was a pandemic when they debuted and restrictions have only really let up recently in 22/23

and when you say 10 month hiatus, surely youre not referring to the part of 2022/23 between Girls and My World where they had multiple showcases, performances and appearances, a variety show, and the concert tour? bc thats the only gap i can find, and even that was filled with a lot of things. not to mention irt what they got, they literally became brand ambassadors for a luxury brand, Givenchy, three months after debut and racked up more over the course of 2021 which is much faster than basically any other sm group at any point.

I think aespa fans have the right to be mad for a lot of things one of them being one of the bg meber being a nepotism kid but everybody being fine with thar while giselle still gets hated for made up nepotism rumors. There is only 2.5 years difference between aespas debut and this one and now we can see that sm rushed aespa debut even though they had a lot of time to complete everything. Riize getting music show promotions for pre release and getting 2 pre release at that and now this physical album,I don't remember if nct had a physical album for their debut but red velvet certainly did and so did aespa. Aespa actually had 3 back to back digital singles to that sucked along with little to no content and promo. Even now they don't have a full album and all mys are scared that sm is gonna put the rest of the concert tracks in the new mini. If sm rushes the nggs debut and only gives them a digital single then we can all conclude that they are sexist mfs. And yes they did have a press release something along the lines that ride topped some chart and aespa fell below them which made the fans rightfully angry

i never said aespa fans don't have the right to be angry i literally said you're right to be angry over aespa's treatment and im on your side with that. im just against holding a grudge against another group simply because they got better treatment during a debut. they can't control what the company does just as much as aespa can't. wayv didn't have a comeback for close to two years and ten was out of the country for 9ish months and winwin was gone for 1.5 years. we didn't get any full group content for so long (and we still barely get any) and yangyang even said that at one point was worried because he didn't know if wayv would ever even come back. they still barely get anything compared to 127/dream in terms of cbs and tours and yet i don't hold it against the other units. the press release sounds to me like they were just saying riize has performed well so far in some metric and then using another well charting sm group as point of reference. that's nothing personal against aespa, its just how companies run they will always compare their groups. and in the case of charts, saying one sm artist charted high and surpassed another is not an attack on aespa, its just an objective analysis of the current positions of their artists in a constantly changing chart ranking. and as for of them being a nepotism kid, i've definitely seen him getting hate for it on twt. and are mys also mad at sunny for being lee soman's niece and chris lee's cousin? or is it just anton. the nepotism thing is going to follow all three of them for the rest of their careers and personally im not going to let it bother me. i like to embrace those types of things with humor because getting mad isn't going to erase it so i'd rather just have fun with it. as for the smngg, i full heartedly hope the ngg gets as good of a debut as riize, but im not going to spend my time worrying about hypothetical scenarios in the unknown future, it just adds extra suffering. we'll get there when we get there.
