Her mother had come to Kingâs Landing three days after she gave birth. Peering through the door, the Princess didnât know if the woman was more surprised to finally see a baby safely tucked between her daughterâs arms or to witness that she was still breathing. She had chosen to believe both.
Since she was a little girl, she had been instructed in what was coming, for her and all the girls like her: how to serve men, how to serve the Realm. She knew pregnancy could be a time of great distress, physical and otherwise, and for her, it turned out to be nothing more than that.
She spent the first moons plagued by sickness, glaring at the Maesters who told her that morning sickness was perfectly normal. It would've been, if only it had lasted the hours the sun was at its highest. Instead, she couldnât keep down her breakfast, just like her lunch, or dinner. She had lost weight, she couldnât stand any kind of smell with the risk of rushing to her pot and empty her stomach.
Then, on one fine morning, while she was walking the gardens with two of her maids, she had suddenly bent over, hissing with pain while clutching her maidâs arm, dreading the trickle running down her thighs.
The Maesters said occasional bleedings might happen, that she only needed to rest and take some tonic to strenghten her body. But that day signaled the end of her peace and the beginning of her confinement.
Because clearly, at the first sign of something going wrong, slipping out of his control, Aemond would panic, albeit showing none of it, standing as tall and stoic as ever and somehow more than heâd ever done now that the Conquerorâs Crown weighted on his head. But she knew better. She knew how to look through all his walls. She knew he was scaredâfor her, for the baby, for his sister, for his whole family. It was simply too much for a single person to carry all of that on their shoulders. And it was precisely for that reason that she didnât object to any of his orders. After all, she couldnât. He was the King now, even if he didnât choose to style himself as such.
Thus, her chambers became her prison.
Cobwebs didnât have time to grow because she was quick enough to point them out to the servants. She was aware of the slight drop in the stone tiles just behind the terrace, as of the strategic point where to linger to gain some cool breeze from the sea. She knew the baby liked to sleep upside down in the early afternoon, occasionally kicking hard as he, or she, settled comfortably in her womb.
Aemond had picked some books for her, mostly about history, having her yawning at the third page. She had tried needle work, putting all her good will into it for the sake of doing something, and she had deliberately chosen to believe she was undeniably good at it. But that was a very generous lie.Â
âWhat is that supposed to be exactly?â Aemond asked one day, peeking over her shoulder as he reached her on the terrace.
She didnât look up, keeping her eyes fixed on her embroidery tambour, working the needle in and out. âIsnât it obvious?â
He leaned down until she felt the long silver strands tickling her head and even without turning, she could feel him grimacing. âA bird?â
At that, she had raised her head, reading all the disbelief on his face. âIt is a dragon. For the cradle.â
Aemond had simply furrowed his brow, unable for the life of him to consider what he saw as something even remotely resembling a dragon. But he thought better than to anger his pregnant wife, given her late sour spirit, but especially in light of how fiercely she had started to stick the needle in, likely picturing to stick it into him instead. He had built the most fake pleasant smile he could master and said âVery well. Excellent work, my love.â
âThank you, husband.â
The trouble was that, as time went by, she only became sourer. She grew more and more uncomfortable, too tight in her own skin. Her back hurt, her breasts hurt, and she was starting to believe she was carrying a real dragon, with fangs and all; she had no other explanation for how hot she constantly felt, forced to lie in a thin white chemise all the time, despite the winds carrying the winter.
But maybe there was another reason why her spirits were so low and sour. She had come to learn that pregnancy affected every aspect of her life, including the most pleasant one.
She would grow wet for a kiss. She would close her legs and rub them together upon seeing him rise from the bathtub. She would moan into his mouth if he so much as grazed her nipples with his knuckles. But as she grew bigger and bigger, along with the discomfort, kisses and some intimate brushing were all she would get from him. Aemond had grown distant, not only with his presence, due to all the duties he had to fulfill wearing the Crown, but even when he was there, in their chambers, sleeping next to her, she felt him leagues and leagues away.
âPregnancy is a very hard time for a woman.â The Dowager Queen had said to her âIt is overwhelming to think that you are never alone and yet...somehow you are.â
Sheâd never understood what her good mother meant until she was confined to her chambers, alone with her thoughts and her fears. She didnât expect Aemond to do something, this was womenâs business. And she knew his reluctance to lie with her rested solely on concern and love for her.
No matter how much he craved to take her, he had decided to put his husbandâs rights away for the delicate final moons until the baby was born. He still felt guilty, for Harrenhal, for the witch, for forsaking her only to get drunk on visions and prophecies. Yet, those visions turned out to be true. He had shut that voice in his head and tried to make amends. But they didnât have the time to mend themselves together, to knit all the distrust and suspicions into something good; the baby was coming, and it seemed he or she did nothing but grow them more apart.Â
He saw how tired she was, how some days she couldnât even get out of bed. And how useless he felt when he would catch her crying, like that night when he found her all alone on the terrace at the hour of the owl.
She was sitting on her chaise filled with cushions when Aemond walked around her. Given the state of his white shirt and hair, he had likely just awakened and hadnât found her beside him.
âWhat are you doing out here? You will catch a cold.â
âI cannot sleep.â she had kept her eyes far, on the Black Water Bay, far from him. But he saw them anyway, her reddened eyes.
âYou cannot stay here in your condition.â He said almost tiredly, but when she didnât even blink at his words, he called her name, with the tone he used in the Throne Room.
âAemond, please.â She whispered, turning her head. âIââ she bit her tongue, unwilling to put this on him, but she knew he wouldnât let go until she was safely back in bed. So, she said âI donât want to hear her.â
It took him less than a moment to understand what she meant. Helaena. Helaena who lost a child, who saw her flesh and blood horribly murdered before her eyes. Helaena who couldnât stop wailing in the dead of night.
She had looked at him, seeing that torn thing, broken and raw like a split wound; shame and guilt and rage all at once. Then, he lowered himself onto his knees until he took her cold hands and squeezed them tight. His mouth opened, but she was faster. âDonât say it.â
You cannot keep such a promise, you cannot keep us safe. No matter how many times you say it. But she wouldnât take that solace away from him, not that plainly. The more he said it, the more he seemed to believe it. So be it.
âIs there anything I can do?â he asked, and there was a beautiful, heartbreaking desperation in his hushed voice. âTell me what to do.â
She had built a convincing smile, running her hand through his loose hair and pushing some strands back. âGo back to sleep. Iâm fine.â
Her spirits during the day would slightly improve. And between the Council and some hearings in the Throne Room, he always saved some time to go visit her in their chambers. She didnât seem to enjoy being watched like a toddler, but deep down she cherished his concern. She cherished the way his hands would gently hold her own, or caress her hair, her belly. She found it hard to believe those hands could bestow such reverence and violence at the same time. And even in his absence, he managed to ensure she always had anything she needed. Even blackberries in early autumn.
âMyra, where have you been?â She asked in a late afternoon, when one of her most loyal maids entered her chambers after disappearing for the whole day.
The young girl had an awful look. She seemed exhausted, as if she had walked the entirety of Flea Bottom, twice. âApologies, my Princess. It took me quite a while to find blackberries.â
âSeven Hells, it is only a craving. You did not have to go all the way through Kingâs Landing to find me blackberries.â
"No, I-I ought to.â
The Princess paused, frowning at the young girl. âDid someone else tell you that you ought to?â
âWellâŠyesâŠâ the maid said, sinking her gaze to the floor âThe Kingâuhm Prince Regent.â
She sighed deeply, and with heavy steps, she walked towards the terrace; her maid was immediately at her side to help her. âWhat did he tell you?â the Princess asked as they reached the chair outside.
The girl waited for her to sit, slowly and awkwardly given her big belly; then, a little timidly, she said âHeâŠordered me to go look for blackberries and not toâŠbother coming back if I didnât find them.â
The Princess rolled her eyes in quite an unlady-like manner, âHow in the name of Seven did he know about it?â She asked, grimacing as she desperately tried to find a comfortable position. âI have barely seen him this morning.â
The young maid helped her, fixing some cushions behind her back and whispered âThe White Cloak at the doorâŠI suspect he reports everything to his Grace.â
The notion didnât seem to strike her that much, or maybe she was too tired, too uncomfortable and too hot to comment on the matter, or even scoff at it.
She grabbed a fan from her maidâs hands and unceremoniously shook her shoes off, placing her swollen feet on the cool tiles. Closing her eyes, she basked in that small relief; the floor was cold, the sun was about to set, and the baby was sleeping.
According to the Maesters, her time was close. She was eager to meet this little person but in truth, she just wanted it to end. She hated having no control over her body, her spirits, her marriage. She missed being a wife and being treated as such, not just as the mother of his child. She had come to think that, deep down, any woman felt that way, but they were forced to hide everything behind a joyful smile while sinking to their knees to thank the Mother. Wasnât that the sole purpose of any girl in the world? To bleed on a birthing bed? Wasnât that the way men measured womenâs value?
She swallowed hard as the question spun in her head. Am I finally worthy of you, Aemond?
She wouldnât dare ask him.Â
âWhat is it? Are you unwell?â
She was too lost in her thoughts to even hear his footsteps on the terrace. As her gaze flew up, she read the deep concern on his face, all lumped in the steep furrow between his eyebrows. He mustâve seen her grimacing, thinking she was in some pain. She was, but she was too much of a coward to tell him.
She resumed her fanning, averting her gaze and stretching her legs out further on the floor. âI feel like Iâm boiling.â
âYes, I can see that.â He deadpanned, raking his eye over her disheveled state; sprawled on that chair with her legs slightly open, her white chemise all crumpled and unbuttoned, and a bead of sweat on the forehead, in the crevice of her swollen breasts. He thought the times when a mere look at this woman would make him hard were gone once the novelty of having a wife, someone rightly and thoroughly his, had dissipated. He was wrong.
âIâm well aware of my lack of decency.â She replied, seeing how he was staring, the little inquiring curve in his eyebrow. âIâm afraid I care very little about decency at this moment. Blame it on your son.â
His lips curled up, watching her gather her loose hair with one hand while she kept fanning herself quickly with the other.
âAre you still inclined to believe for certain that itâs a boy?â
âI know itâs a boy. Only men can be this insufferable.â
That little smile on his lips lingered, deepened, and then he moved, going to stand behind her. âLet me.â He said, and took her hair between his hands. She couldnât see what he was doing but got the gist as she felt his deft fingers moving and her neck free to get some air. When he walked around the chaise to sit beside her, she saw that his hair was loose. He had tied her hair with the black lace he always wore to prevent the silver strands from ending up in front of his eye.
She loved to see him like this: hair loose, eyepatch lost somewhere in a drawer, sitting next to her, even without saying a word. The sapphire seemed to match his eye, glowing a soft violet under the setting sun. She felt that familiar lump in her throat, as she stared at him, a restless thing flowing through her whole body, demanding to be released only to be trapped under her teeth, biting down her lower lip, starved and yearning.
âA little bird told me you put a hound on my trail.â she said at one point, shutting her little fan.
Aemond didnât look surprised to acknowledge that she knew. He had actually ventured with himself about how long it would have taken her to realise he was spying on her every move.
âYou are well aware of my duties now.â He said, turning his head to look at her. But not quite. His eye seemed to linger everywhere at once, fleeting, snatching a look here and there, her legs, her sweated neck, her bellyâŠhis own testament, as if she wasnât one already.
You left your mark on her just as she did on you. Those were Alysâ words, at which he had ugly sneered. And she had laughed at the sight, eerily, as someone who owned the truth. Iâm your spoil of war and yet, you speak to me ten paces away. What are you afraid of, Kinslayer? That your skin would burn like brimstone if you touched another woman?
âBesides,â he resumes âany lady would be flattered by her husbandâs genuine concern.â
âYou could flatter me in different ways.â was her prompt answer and she moved incredibly fast, given her impediment, getting close to him until she filled his nostrils. She smelled different since she was pregnant. A thick smell, musky. She tasted differently. Sweeter and somehow sourer. He swallowed at the mere memory. âWe have talked about this.â
âAnd Iâve talked to the Maesters.â
His head spun around, forcing her to stifle a smile at his ever strictly reserved nature.
âThey said thereâs nothing wrong, or remotely dangerous, if weâŠengage in our conjugal duties.â
He tried to ignore her hand, her fingers traveling up his arm like a spiderâs legs. âDid you need the Maesters to learn that?â
âNo, but you do. You hang on their lipsâŠI wish you hung on mine.â
Aemond heard her voice dropping a tone, and dropped his chin down, looking at her hand roving on his chest, shamelessly slipping beneath his dark green doublet, skin to skin. She glided on his planes slowly, making sure to trap one of his nipples in the little hollow between her index and middle.
âI donât need them to know about my private matters.â He said mindlessly, trying to hold a grip on his thoughts.
âSeven Hells. It baffles me to witness how prudish you desperately want to appear while I perfectly know how debauched you really are, to the bone.â
âMy debauchery is confined to these four walls.â
âOh, is it? What about that time on our way to the Grand Sept?â She tilted her head, so she was talking almost in his ear. âDo you remember?â
Her hand on his chest was burning, or was it his own skin? His own flesh simmering wherever she touched him.
âDonât do that.â She whispered when she saw his long legs cross. âLet me see. You have condemned me to do nothing else.â
His eye chased her hand as she grabbed his knee and pushed to uncross his legs, so that she could see, the outline of his cock through the breeches, see how he ached for her. âDo you remember what you did in the wheelhouse?â She asked again, looking at him; the sapphire was the only thing flashing violet now. His eye was pitch black.
âYou put your hand beneath my gownsâŠâ she said and her hand slid up against his thigh âyou grabbed me, harshly.â And she did the same, forcing his mouth open and a shallow breath out of his throat. âAnd you grinnedâŠbecause my garments were soaked.â he closed his eye for a moment, perhaps recalling, or maybe because her hand was moving, palming all his length through the breeches.
âAnd then you slipped your fingers underneathâŠâ and again, she did just so, unbuckling his belt and sinking her hand in. He opened his eye, and basked in what he saw: that sort of silent, desperate plea in the little wrinkle between her eyebrows, in her heaving chest, in the way she was rubbing her legs together.
Thus, just when she was about to grab him, he grabbed her wrist instead and crashed his mouth against hers with a low growling sound. She could do nothing but moan, giving him open room to slip his tongue in and taste every corner, driving his body closer and closer, but not too much as to crush her.
She, on the other hand, felt free, finally, to roam, to rummage. Her hands grabbed and pulled everywhere, at his doublet, the collar, the buttons, the thin white shirt underneath it all, until everything was loose, and she was free to touch him, all the while making the sweetest wanton sounds, close to desperate whines. âPlease, AemondâŠâ she begged freely, holding his face âjust this onceâŠpleaseâŠâ
He shushed her with another harsh kiss and with a free hand, he clutched her white nightgown into his fist, pulling up, enough to stick his arm between her legs. She spread them for him, panting with anticipation, and stopped breathing altogether when he cupped her core with the large palm of his hand. Aemond trapped her lower lip with his teeth, biting softly upon feeling how wet she was, dripping on his fingers, so much that he wished to fall on his knees and wipe it clean with his tongue.
âPleaseâŠâ she breathed, barely rocking her hips to urge him to touch her.
âHush.â he said, and curled his fingers, brushing his fingertips against her centre, gaining a delicious wince from her. âTell me of the wheelhouse.â
She smiled breathlessly, her eyes hungry and heavy, full of lust. âIt was the first time I wore green.â she started to tell. âWe were still betrothed. I wanted to impress you.â
âHmm. You certainly did.â He remarked, watching her closely while rubbing his index pad against her entrance, teasingly, making her squirm. âGo on.â
She felt like burning, her face hot for the sun, the baby, the ache in her lower belly, stirring and coiling. âYou told the White Cloak to take another roundâŠâ she said, breathing with her mouth open. âYou grabbed my waist and forced me on your lap.â
âAnd you pushed me away. Twice.â heâd laughed, flashing a grin that made her willing to shove him away, to pull him closer. âWhat a farse you put on.â he continued, leaving a chaste kiss on her neck that resulted in her writhing some more, pushing her pelvis against his hand. âI had to cover your mouth for your mewling. You were so fucking loud.â
It was then that he finally granted her some mercy, slipping one finger inside her drenched lips, spilling a long gasp from her.
âNo. Not quite.â He observed cruelly and slid another finger, this time gaining a proper loud moan. âThatâs more like it.â
His two fingers started to pump slowly, and yet she was making the lewdest sounds heâd ever spilled from her, arching her back as far as she could, scrunching her face almost in pain and pulling at his collar, twisting, as if he were torturing her instead of giving her pleasure. She made his cock stir painfully, his teeth grind for the ache, for the fact that she was coating his whole hand. âEasy nowâŠâ he warned her, his tone all husky. âYou donât want to come already, do you? âTis the only thing youâll get from me, sweetlingâŠyou better make it last.âÂ
She whined in annoyance, forcing another grin on his ruthless lips, and with that same ruthlessness, he slowed his ministrations, only to cup one of her breasts with his free hand, squeezing softly until the thin, silky fabric slipped down, revealing her pink, swollen nipple. âI must sayâŠIâm relieved you will summon a wet nurseâŠso these will be all mine.â
She had to stifle a breathless laugh at that. âBeing jealous of your child is a bit too much, even for youâŠâ
âOh, my loveâ he crooned, freeing the other breast âI am jealous of the clothes on your skin.â
Wasting no time, he wrapped his lips around her nipple, causing her to arch against him once more, one hand flying down his shoulder, fisting his doublet, twisting it as he swirled his tongue and hummed with delight dripping from his tone, as if he were tasting honey, and the sweetest ever made.
His fingers resumed their frantic rhythm, sinking deep inside and stretching, hitting that special spot that made her sight go black, reduced to a mess of sweat coating every inch of her skin and a string of moans growing hoarse and high-pitched.
âAre you close? Hmm?â he rasped âHow about another? Can you take another for me?â
He slipped a third finger in, causing her to wince and cling to his shoulders with her mouth open in a silent scream. âGood girl.â He praised at the sight. He wished he could savor it for a little longer, he wished to keep doing that again and again, until the sun went down and rose again, until there was nothing but ruin around them.
But she was so close now, he could feel it in her tensed arms around his shoulders, in her clenching walls around his hand, and quite frankly, the ache in his breeches was unbearable, twitching at every moan and squelching sound of his fingers inside her flesh.Â
She came loudly, curling her ankles on the ground and writhing in his hold as if in a delirium. He kept her still, his hand buried inside her, feeling the quick pulsing that rivaled the one in her heart. And he watched her, gasping for air and throwing her head back, utterly spent, hair all sticked to her forehead. In his eye she had never looked this beautiful.
He pulled his fingers out, making her wince slightly, and brought them to her mouth, smearing her spent desire on her own lips, like the final touch to a painting. And then he kissed her, humming at her bittersweet taste. He held her face gently, grabbing her jaw and angling her head to taste her better, eliciting a blissful sigh from the back of her throat that made his hardness throb. As if she had felt that, her hand had slipped between them with purpose, sinking past all his layers and taking hold of him.
She rejoiced in the little whimper he gave her, and started to work her hand up and down, making it impossible for him to kiss her any further, if not for a sloppy and panting mess of spit and teeth.Â
Given the unbearable pressure building past his navel, he knew he wouldnât last long. And she knew that too. But she didnât want to have him this way. Awkwardly, she stood up and spread his legs to make herself some room, but as soon as Aemond, despite the lack of blood in his mind, caught her intentions, he stopped her, grabbing her arms firmly.
âNoâŠâ he croaked. âNot on your knees.â
She couldnât help the little surprise on her face. Aemond had never been this considerate, especially in bed. He could be gentle in his own way, subtly. Little hidden things in the way he would run his fingers through her hair once she had reached her peak, the way he would regain air once heâd spilled inside her, breathing into her neck and running his lips lazily against her skin. But most of the times, he was very diligent, all focused in giving her and himself the pleasure they both craved; he was somehow harsh, ruthless, a mirror of who he was outside the bedroom, possessed by some kind of urgency that would break her in the most beautiful and cruel way and put her back together at once.
But then again, she imagined the promise of his heir living inside her was affecting even one of the most ruthless of men.
She sat down again and watched him stand up, his breath labored and open-mouthed as he looked down at her, working the few laces of his breeches still tied. She didnât need an invitation, an order, a mere tilt of his chin to sit upright and put her hands alongside his snatched waist.
She looked up, and he found himself swallowing hard, cursing silently at the sight of her looking straight into his eye with his cock a breath away from her, all hard and glistening on the tip. Shamefully, he thought that would have done it for him.
A coarse grunt left his lips as soon as she wrapped her mouth around it, teasingly swirling her tongue on the slit without ever averting her gaze from him. He hissed painfully when her lips started to travel along his length, trying with all his might to hold back and not spill into her mouth so soon.
She, on the other hand, seemed eager to watch him come undone, just as he had done to her a few moments earlier. She started to suck him eagerly, like a starved creature, because on all those nights and days when he had taken her apart, learning every inch of her and how to bend it to his will, she had done just the same.
She knew how to make him wince and moan openly, while on her knees on their bedroom floor or on a fucking terrace during a late afternoon, with likely anyone to walk on them at any moment. With the Gods watching.
She didn't care. The Gods didn't care for them anyway. Let them see to whom she fell to her knees.
He couldnât stop looking, how pretty she was like this, swallowing him whole, up to the hilt, hitting her throat with a gagging sound. So lecherous, so holy.
He was so close he had to bite his lip to restrain himself, letting out a string of curses until he felt the pressure growing stronger, and then, he thought, he might as well have it his way.
âStopâŠâ he croaked, grabbing her cheek but delicately, slipping out of her mouth and running his thumb over her sore jaw. She closed her slicked mouth, a drop of spit running down her chin and she looked at him, with such devotion he thought he had nothing to envy the Gods.
âLet meâŠâ he pleaded, wiping her chin clean with his finger. âLet me fuck your mouth, sweetling. Would you?â
A question that needed no answer. Indeed, he wasted no time and grabbed the back of her head, tilting it slightly up for a better angle. He sheathed himself all the way in, gasping deeply at feeling the hot walls of her mouth, her cheeks hollowing.
His fingers curled into her hair, but never in a hurtful way, enough to keep her still as he started to move his hips against her face back and forth, his open mouth quivering as the pleasure began to build where it left off.
âFuckââ he cursed once, and then twice, fucking her mouth faster to chase his peak, pulling ever so slightly at her scalp until he went still altogether, pushed his waist hard against her, and grunted loudly, in a pretty uncharacteristic way, as his cock twitched and spilled down her throat until the last drop.
Panting harshly, he pulled himself out and watched her close her mouth, eyes fixed on him, working her cheeks and making no mystery of the white essence on her tongue before swallowing it, thoroughly.
Aemond let himself fall on that chaise and she watched, she drank that sight: his hair all disheveled and damp with sweat, a shade of pink on his cutting cheekbones as he slowly pulled himself together, breathing through his open mouth while buckling his belt and breeches.
âI think Iâm going to take a bath.â She said at one point, clumsily standing up. He had mumbled something in return, still caught in the throes of what they had done, but before she got back inside, she turned and said âOh, just so you knowâŠall of this was a ploy.â
She smiled cunningly at his frowning. âI never had any cravings. And I knew about the White Cloak at the door since the first day you put him there. You are not as subtle as you think you are, my love.â
A man of few words, but loud actions.
Her pains came during a peaceful afternoon.
In haste, nursemaids began their frantic rounds in and out of the Princessâ rooms like soldiers, carrying hot water and boiled rags. The Dowager Queen abandoned her perch beside Queen Helaena, or what was left of her, and went to assist the Princess. Having borne four children, she had quite a bit of advice to dispense, things she had learned on her own skin, things that any Master would never have told her because oblivious and convinced they knew what happened to a woman's body at such a delicate time based on how deep they had buried their nose in an old dusty tome.
Alicent helped the Princess rise from the bed, clutched her arm firmly and helped her walk. She said it was vital to walk, that it would ease her pain and help the baby come sooner. She told her to squat when the pain hit. She rubbed her back and wiped the sweat off her face as if she were her own daughter. It felt like that. Even though the Princess seemed to face it all with a stiff lip, Alicent could see that she was scared and in terrible pain, that she probably wished for her mother to be there. She had wished the same, no matter how many times she had faced it.
âYour Grace?â The Princess asked after another wave of pain had come and gone.
âYes, child?â
âDo you think your son would forgive me If I said this one is both the first and the last?â
The Queen had smiled at that. âIf the Gods bless you with more children, it will be easier, I can assure you. The first time is always rough. But it shouldnât be long now.â
Well, her good mother turned out to be wrong. Because the pain plagued her for a full night, giving her no peace. At the hour of the nightingale, the nursemaids forced her to bed, and she gladly went. She was exhausted, she could no longer walk without hissing at every step, and by that time she was so used to the pain she no longer whined or anything, only scrunched her face and ground her teeth.
The servants stripped her bare and replaced her sweat-soaked nightgown with a fresh one. They dabbed her face with a wet cloth, but she could barely register anything, floating into unconsciousness only to be brought back to the present as another pain choked her breath.
âPerhaps some Milk of the Poppy?â One of the nurses said at one point.
âNo.â the Maester said. âShe may need to start pushing any moment now. We need her vigil.â
Her heavy-lidded eyes opened, wandering helplessly around the room. Useless research, for she knew he wouldnât be there. She didnât expect him to be. The birthing bed was no place for men, save for the Maesters, although she was starting to doubt their real usefulness when all they could do was pull her nightgown up, take a close look and shake their heads. They might as well let Aemond be there.
She imagined he mustâve been waiting outside, or in the Council, and yet she ached to see him. She closed her eyes and searched for him in her mind, clutching the sheets in her fist as if she could clutch his hand instead. And then she felt someoneâs hand closing around her own, loosening her grip. Alicent, smiling down at her, and holding her hand tight.
It was holding her good motherâs hand that, at the first light of dawn, she gave birth to her child. A boy, healthy and all screeching as soon as he was out of her womb, clad in blood and grease.
Aemond had decided to name the child Aenar, if it was a boy, after the first Targaryen Lord, and she couldnât quite believe her eyes or force her tears back when he was finally admitted to their chambers and took their son in his arms for the first time.Â
Alicent was beaming at the sight, squeezing his arm. âCongratulations, my son.â
But Aemond didnât seem to even register her motherâs words, or presence, utterly enraptured by his little creature. He cast a look at his wife, a secret little look that told her how proud he was of her, how relieving it was for both to have come this far after all that happened, to have this little thing, this little ounce of peace amidst all the chaos of war.
What she didnât know at that time was that Aenar was not exactly a peaceful child.
She had believed there had finally come the time when she could be herself again. But from the earliest days, Aenar proved not to be an easy child to deal with. The newborn cried and cried for hours, plagued by belly aches, and seemingly able to calm down only when in his motherâs arms. They had obviously called on a wet nurse; highborn ladies did not feed their children themselves, let alone a Princess. But Aenar had categorically refused to latch onto his wet nurseâs breasts. Alicent had proposed to summon another one, but as they dawdled and wavered, the Princess felt her heart break into pieces each time she held her little baby in her arms, all red in the face, hungry and in pain, turning his head towards her cleavage, desperate for her milk. Thus, she had put aside ceremonial court and all of that and chose to feed him herself.
But it was a strenuous task. The Maesters had warned her it would be tiring, sleep depriving, but she really had no choice. She had to do it every three hours, sometimes less, because being latched onto her breast seemed the only thing that would prevent the baby from screaming at the top of his lungs all day long. The nursemaid had recommended fennel and chamomile for belly aches. And, instantly, Aemond had ordered an astounding amount of both to be delivered to the Red Keepâs kitchens.
Queen Alicent taught her to hold the baby on his stomach, to rock him, but not too fast. They told her to take several breaks during breastfeeding, to make the baby belch often and prevent air from his belly. In the first week after Aenar was born, her mind was all but a vessel of do this, do that. No, not this way. Donât ever wake the baby when heâs sleeping. Try to sleep when he does. Donât eat spicy dishes.
In the midst of all of this, Aemond turned more and more suffocating in all his well-hidden, self-consuming concern. A handful of white cloaks, the most trusted by Ser Criston, were constantly guarding the door, day and night. He had a secret passageway that led to his rooms walled up, and she could swear he slept with his dagger beneath the pillow. Evidently not at peace with such extreme measures, he had the cradle moved to his side of the bed, within his reach, so that every time she had to wake up because the baby was wailing, she had to walk around the bed and pray that she would not tumble to the floor in the dark.
However, she was at least grateful to have Aemondâs support, for the little he could do. If he wasnât occupied with warfare or hearings, he spent all the time he had with her and their child. And in those moments, no matter how exhausted she was, she would always find the strength to smile at the view when he held their baby, tracing his long fingers over the velvety grizzled skin of Aenarâs small hands; even when heâd speak to him in Valyrian, at which she had frowned at first.
âYou do realise heâs one week old?â
ââTis never too soon.â
âMh. Whatâs next? Bring him to the skies on dragonback?â
âIâll have you know Vhagar is perfectly safe toââ
âOver my dead body.âÂ
He had smiled and stood up, going to place the baby in her arms. Aenar immediately began to fuss, whining and turning his head against her chest. She had started to unbutton her chemise but then stopped, looking up, where Aemond stood still like a sentry, and watching.
She raised an eyebrow. âAm I putting up a show?â
âUsually, you do.â He drawled. âAm I not allowed to watch? It seems my son and I already share a few interests.â
She looked away, smiling, and then she freed her left breast, watching as the baby immediately latched onto it. A moment later, Aemond took her chin in his hand, forcing her to look at him. He stared at her, and she saw that familiar glint his eye.
He trailed his thumb over her lip, barely breaching inside. âSoon?â was all he asked.
âSoon.â Was all she answered.
The soreness and the bleeding were reducing, and she was back in her tight flesh.
But the Gods must have cursed them some more, because that âsoonâ never seemed to become ânowâ.
The sickness didnât seem willing to leave the poor child alone, along with his parents and the entirety of the Red Keep who had to suffer through his heartbreaking cries day and night.
The Princess had started to feel hopeless and guilty, no matter how many times the nursemaids, and even Queen Alicent, told her it was not her fault, that it was natural. No matter how many times she tried to convince herself they were right. Her heart broke any time the baby cried, wriggling desperately in her arms, in Aemondâs, in the cradle. She would end up crying too as she tried to soothe him, caressing his back with her cheek resting on his timidly silver-haired head.
She was working herself up to exhaustion, often falling asleep with the baby still latched onto her breast. It was Aemond who would take the baby to the cradle, it was Aemond who would button her chemise and pull up the blankets.
She hit rock bottom two weeks after Aenarâs birth, when she realised she hadnât bathed in four days. Even Aemond, she could swear, was starting to look a little ragged around the edges. You donât want to be King and take decisions in the middle of a war only to come back to a screaming infant at night.
But then, like a curse lifting, the sickness stopped. Amidst all those days she had stopped counting or even being aware of which was which, Aenar stopped crying. She was ashamed to admit that the first night he slept peacefully in his cradle, she had gone to check on him five times, to see if he was still breathing.Â
She began to gradually return to her former self, able to enjoy motherhood with a more rested mind, at least. Physically, she still felt worn out, given how much time she spent breastfeeding or rocking the baby to sleep. But now she was strong enough to take the baby out, walking the gardens with her maids and smiling proudly as the court ladies stopped to congratulate themselves and say how beautiful her baby was.
By doing this, though, she also became aware that she had lived in a bubble for so long that she had almost forgotten there was a war raging, there were battles being fought across the realm.
Reality hits her one day when Alicent goes to visit her and her grandson, bringing the news of a very important victory near the Honeywine, a large river flowing in the Reach, thanks to Prince Daeron Targaryen who had arrived all victorious on that very morning, riding his blue scaled dragon, Tessarion.
The news stuns her for a moment. She had no idea of it, partly because she had been too caught up with Aenar, but also because Aemond had not told her. Yet her family came from the Reach, they lived there, not very far from the Honeywine; her older brother fought for the Green Army. Still, not a word from Aemond.
Taking advantage of Aenar sleeping and the fact that Alicent offered to watch him, she leaves her chambers and heads for the Council. Thereâs a bustle of lords coming out of the door when she gets there, barely paying her any attention as they hastily babble about armies and supplies and men; always more men to be sent to slaughter.
She stops at the door, widening her eyes at the silver head crossing the threshold, one she hadnât seen in a long time. âPrince Daeron.â
The youngest son of Queen Alicent and late King Viserys was nothing but a boy. But war had taken its toll on him too. He stood like a man, a Prince, and more than anything, a skilled dragon rider.
âPrincess.â He says, tilting his chin down.
She curtsies and sees an immediate gentle smile softening his Valyrian features. âI believe some congratulations are in order.â
âWell, in all fairness, you shall be the most celebrated, my Prince. Iâve just heard of your recent victory.â
His gentle smile lingers, but loses its sparkle. âI must say I much prefer to celebrate lifeâŠrather thanâŠthe death of innocent men and women.â
There canât be objections to such a statement; she just nods and casts a distracted glance inside the Council.
âPleaseâŠâ the Prince says then, making room to let her pass âI wonât keep you away from my brother.â
She turns her head and smiles, tightly. âIâm afraid it is your brother who keeps himself away from me.â
âHeavy is the head that wears the Crown.â
âIndeed.â
The Prince bows to her and leaves.
Closing the door behind her, she glances at Aemond sitting at the head of the table, in the Kingâs chair, with such effortlessness that he seems to have been born exclusively for that purpose.
âI thought I heard you.â he says absent-mindedly, scribbling down a small piece of parchment. She slowly walks to the windows, casting a single furtive glance down, but she canât possibly make out what heâs writing, or to whom.
âHowâsâ"
âAenar is fine.â She cuts him off. âHeïżœïżœs with your mother, sleeping.â
He stops scribbling, glancing up for a moment. Her voice is tight, cutting. He knows that tone. Itâs the same one she used in Harrenhal, as if he should have fallen to his knees and be grateful for the mere fact that she was speaking to him. But he doesnât have time today to circle around her like a coiling snake, so he goes straight to the point. âIs something the matter?â
âYou didnât tell me of the Honeywine.â She says after a moment, gazing at the Bay.
Aemond sighes, a sign that he was expecting such a question. âYou were looking after our son.â
âAnd?â sheâs quick to rebut, quick to reach him at the table and stare down at him. âYou didnât deem it appropriate to inform me of a battle raging in my family lands?â
âI am your family.â He says, stoically, as if common law, and she has to stifle a bitter laugh. The nerve of him. âThat is a very lovely concept. Strange how it got lost on you in Harrenhal.â
âEnough!â he barks, and the sudden harshness makes the quill pierce through parchment. âI thought Iâd made myself clear.â He warns. âI donât want to hear another word about the witch. Ever.â
She obediently looks down, regretting having said that, but not entirely. Perhaps she has spent so much time beside him that she, too, canât let go of her grudges.
âI did not tell you, for I did not want to upset you.â He says, resuming his collected tone. âYou were worn out by the baby, I didnât want to put more weight on your shoulders.â
She knows heâs sincere. Still, her nod is stiff as she looks away, biting her cheek. She is just so sick of it all. Of being regarded as a cunt to be bred at first and now a weakling nailed to a cradle with an infant sucking the life out of her. She knows sheâs not the first, and she wonât be the last.
Aemond leaves the quill and stands up, circling until heâs close to her. âYour family is fine.â He tells her, lingering behind her. âDaeron spoke to your brother this morning.â
She keeps nodding, keeping her gaze down on the table, all scattered with maps and little dragon-shaped tokens, some black, some green. She frowns, letting warfare soothe her petty spirits. âWhat is this?â
âOur next move. A defense planâŠwhich happens to be an attack plan too.â
âA pincher?â
She turns just in time to see the little surprise on his face. âMy brother talked of nothing else when we were children. He slept with warfare books as pillows.â
âHmm.â He muses, and takes a step closer, slipping his arm around her waist and resting his chin on her collarbone. âShow me.â
She shudders at his sudden proximity, at his breath blowing on her neck. She shudders at anything these days. A hand on her back, his legs fumbling beneath the covers and casually brushing against hers. Sheâs tight as a fiddle string.
âA pincher is nothing else but a decoy.â She explains. âYou let your enemy believe they have you trappedâŠâ and in saying this, she grabs his hand and moves it across the map. âAnd thenâŠat the right momentâŠâ she makes him hold a green token between his fingers and brings it near a little division of black ones âyou strike on both flanks.â And with a swift flick of her wrist, his hand scatters all the black tokens across the table. To do so, she must lean over the table, accidentally brushing her lower back against his bulge. Heâs not hard, yet, but it thrills her to feel the lightning quick effect she has on him.
âHmm. Good. Very good.â He praises next to her ear as she withdraws her hand; his voice is so low it makes her spine shiver. But she keeps herself grounded and asks âWhen will this happen?â
âSoon.â he whispers, placing his hand flat on her stomach. âThereâs another Small Council shortly but Aegon wanted to be present. They went to fetch him.â
âWell, then I shall retire to my chambers. I feel a bit lightheaded from all the thinking.â
He ignores her jab and keeps her still by the arm when she tries to move. Thereâs a little sly smirk pulling at his lips. âI have some time to spare.â
âAnd how do you propose we spend it?â
âEnough with your pantomimes. I can feel your legs squirming.ïżœïżœïżœ
Curse him.
He slips the other hand straight into her corset, cupping her breast and humming with delight at how full she is, how it fills his large hand entirely. âAre you wet for me, my love?â
His teeth sink down her lobe, and at the same time, he pinches her nipple between his thumb and index, forcing an indecorous whine out of her. âMy, myâŠâ he laughs darkly, torturing her sensitive skin until he feels something wet on his fingertips, probably milk. âI could make you come just by doing this.â
Powerless, she yields, leaning completely against him, rubbing her lower back for some friction. âWhat if someone enters?â
âWeâll make it quick.â
âBut I donât want it to be quick.â She pants, grabbing his hand on her breast and squeezing; the other crawls behind her back to try to feel him through his breeches.Â
Hissing, when she starts to palm him, he says âThen we let them watch. They get to see how pretty you look when you come on my fingers, or my cock. Which should it be?â
âBoth. Anything.â She answers hastily, pulling at his collar to bring him close enough to kiss him. He hums contentedly when she does, twirling his tongue around hers. It soon gets messy, each of them fighting for dominance, winning and losing in turn, until he spins her around, so he can look at her and with both his hands, he seizes her gowns and pulls up, furiously rummaging through them.
âHow many fucking layers have you on?â
âIâm not pregnant anymore.â she points out, unbuckling his belt.
âPity. Perhaps I should fuck another one into you to keep you in your skimpy robes.â
âDonât you dare, AemondââÂ
âGods be good, brother! That eager to make another one?â
They both startle like little children caught doing something naughty, turning their heads towards the door, where two servants are carrying King Aegon on a chair. Aemond sighs annoyingly, letting go of her gowns as she does with his belt, trying to compose herself.
âMy King.â She says, greeting her good brother with a tight little smile.
Aegonâs appearance has improved since Rookâs Rest, just as the burnings, but he carries with him the smell of Milk of the Poppy and rotting skin everywhere he goes.Â
âGood-sister. What are you doing here? Apart from being ravished by my brother... should you not be breastfeeding?â
Aemond gives him a level stare and then looks at her, hoping she will not take the bait. Aegon and his wife never got along well, to say the least. Things had only escalated with time, to the point that whenever they found themselves in the same room, one of them would wisely leave, his wife most of the times, lest they start to hiss at each other like two cats fighting for territory.
âWhat if I intend to stay and attend the council?â
Aegon giggles, as the servants put down the chair, and after a quick glance below her neck he says âIâm afraid you would be a little distracting. And my brother is not one for sharing.â
Before she can ask what in the Seven he is blabbing about, Aemond takes her arm and makes her turn, shielding her from his brother and the Lords coming through the door.
âYou should retire.â He curtly says.
âAre you taking his side again?â she asks, wriggling her arm to free herself from his hold.
âYouâre leaking.â He informs her, flatly.Â
At that, she frowns and dips her chin down, watching the front of her dress practically soaked in milk. âOh.â
âI shall join you when Iâm done here.â He tells her, and lets her out through the side doors.
Aemond did not join her.
The council lasted until the evening, a recurring thing when Aegon attended. Aemond was stern and concise in his decisions. Aegon liked to laze around, enjoying the wine in his cup, rattling his younger brotherâs nerves. Deep down, she was convinced that Aegon did not really want to attend the Council because really interested in what to do, but only to remind his brother that he was still breathing and that the Conqueror's Crown on Aemond's head was a temporary measure.
But it didnât matter. She would join him for the banquet in honor of Prince Daeron.
She was thrilled to go. It was not a proper feast. Since Helaena had fallen into grief, the atmosphere within the walls of the Keep had become rather austere. But a banquet still meant an occasion for conviviality, and after weeks and weeks spent locked up within four walls, the Princess was eager to spend some time outside her chambers. She had felt like a terrible mother at the mere thought. She loved Aenar, how could she not? But she also loved herself, her family, her marriage, Aemond. Especially Aemond.
Once she had put the baby to sleep, she had ordered her maid to prepare one of her favorite dresses, a green one, and to tie her hair in an elegant braided bun. When she had looked in the mirror, she had almost grunted. The scarce and troubled hours of sleep were all evident in the dark circles under her eyes, but it was nothing a little egg-white couldn't temper.
When she arrived at the banquet, Aemond was already there, standing in his usual soldierly stance, intent on talking to his mother. She approached them from the side, Aemond's blind side precisely, so that when she announced herself, he had to turn his shoulder to look at her. He cast a glance at her hair, ran his eye over her entire figure. She wasnât expecting any kind of sappy words, and certainly not in front of his mother, nor did she desire them. She could feast on that look alone.
Queen Alicent excused herself to give order about the banquet, and they were left alone, while some musicians gathered in a corner of the hall.
âYou said you would join me. I thought they abducted you.â
âMore or less.â
âAh. Yes, I'm sure it must have been so hard for you to listen to the lords snapping like little soldiers at your command.â
âIt pains me to acknowledge how little you know me, when you think I'd rather talk war with those wimps who can't even hold a sword than fuck my wife till dawn.â
âThat was your plan?â
âWe have some unfinished business, donât we? And donât play dumb. Youâre wearing green. Youâre not as subtle as you think you are either.â
âGood. Iâm sick of subtleties. So, are you going to ask me to dance?â
Aemond rolled his eye and gave her a stare that told her heâd preferred to walk barefoot on lava.
âStill not fond of dancing, eh?â
Prince Daeron suddenly appeared between them, with his cheerful manner and his head of silver curls, dressed in dark green just like his older brother. âStrange. You were the only one listening to the lessons when we were children.â
âYes, because you and Aegon acted as court jesters the whole time.â
âIâll have you know, brother, I have refined my dancing skills in Oldtown. SoâŠmay I dance with my good sister?â
Aemond gave him a simple nod, and Daeron bowed to her gallantly, raising his palm up.
She kindly accepted the invitation and placed her hand on his. âDonât sulk too much.â She whispered to her husband before following his brother.
Aemond watched closely as they started to dance, stealing all the attention, and despite that little primitive tug at the sight of his woman dancing with another man, even though that was his brother and there was absolutely nothing malicious in his or her intentions, he was glad to see her like this, spinning and twisting around instead of lying still in the cold with dread eating her alive.
When the dance ended, Daeron escorted the Princess back to Aemond and took his leave. âRemind me again,â she asked as she watched the young Prince leave âHow is it that your brother is still unmarried?â
Aemond sighed deeply and took her arm to escort her to the table. âIâd give you one week before youâd get bored of him.â
While they waited for dinner, the lords and ladies of the court were obviously very eager to hear Prince Daeron. Alicent in the first place, after so much despair, and after being separated from her youngest son for years, seemed to smile with her eyes every time she heard him speak.
âHear, hear!â one of the lords cheered after listening to Prince Daeronâs retelling of the Battle of the Honeywine. âA brave soldier and a brave dragon rider! I propose a toast.â
At once, everybody stood up, raising their glasses. âTo Prince Daeron, to House Targaryen!â
âAnd to House Hightower.â The Prince proudly stated, raising his glass towards his mother.
As they sat back, the Queen ordered the servants to serve the dinner. The table was gradually filled with a great variety of dishes, many of them Prince Daeron's favourites, specifically ordered by his mother to make him feel at home. It had been weeks and weeks since such a banquet had been seen at King's Landing. Prince Daeron seemed very pleased and grateful, as did all those present who watched the rich dishes crowd the table, and lastly, the huge tray of fresh fruit that a servant laid in the middle.
âI canât quite believe my eyes. Blackberries? This far in the season?â said Lady Bracken.
âIâm afraid that is entirely my fault.â The Princess chirped, catching Aemondâs attention from across the table.
âI had a sudden craving, while I was carrying Aenar.â
âI had one too with my first.â Lady Redwyne joined in. âPlums, specifically.â
âDid you find them agreeable, Princess?â
âOh, very much indeed.â She stated, casting an innocent glance around, but lingering for just a moment longer on her husband. âI devoured so manyâŠI still feel the taste on my tongue.â
Devious woman, he thought, fighting back his cursed smirk. He had half a mind to excuse themselves and retire to their chambers, if he managed to endure it all the way and not take her in the middle of a hallway.
She seemed able to read his mind, judging by the way she was looking at him, unfurling a napkin on her lap. He knew her well enough to foresee when she was in a teasing spirit, and he was all in for it.
But then, just when they were about to start eating, her trusted maid came in, going straight to the Princess. âApologies your Grace.â she said to her ear âbut the Princeling is awake.â
Aemond saw the concern instantly widening her eyes and then a shadow passing over her face. âYesâŠâ she said, and stood up talking to all the present. âMy apologies. I must retire.â
âSee?â said Lady Bracken as Aemond watched his wife leave the hall. âThis is why I refused to breastfeed. No matter how my second would screamâŠâ
By the time she had done breastfeeding, her chest hurt so much that the maid had to place some rags soaked in cold water directly on her nipples; the instant relief had made the Princess close her eyes and almost moan. She had planned to go back to the banquet as soon as Aenar had had his fill but as she gained relief by pressing those wet rags to her breasts, she realised her son wouldnât let her get away that easily.
As soon as the maid had taken him, trying to put him to sleep, he had begun to fuss and wriggle, whining in what she knew would soon turn into a high-pitched, deaf inducing crying.
Perhaps heâs cursed too. She had thought exhaustingly, promptly kissing his silver little head.
She gave up on her plan to go back to the banquet and rocked the baby herself, pacing before the windows while whispering sweet soothing words.
As soon as he had dozed off, she put him in his crib and absent-mindedly grabbed a book from Aemond's desk, lazily leafing through it while rocking the cradle with the other hand.
Aemond finds her like this when he opens the door on his way back from the banquet. She looks up from the page and sees him striding purposefully towards her, snatching the little book in her hands and throwing it on the bed.
Sheâs shocked, to say the least. One might say he treats books far better than his subjects.
âWhatââ she tries to say but he takes her hand and pulls, forcing her to stand up and follow his steady gait.
âAemond?â she asks down the corridor, a girlish grin climbing on her lips. âWhere are you taking me?â
He doesnât bother to answer but she doesnât have to wait long to find out. They stop before a door down the corridor opposite to their chambers, Aemond pushes her inside without so much grace and shuts the door behind them.Â
She looks around briefly; the room is warm, the fire in the hearth is lit, as the candles scattered all around. This is all familiar. âThese are my old chambersâŠâ she says with a little frown, turning to him.
âQuite the observer, wife.â He drawls, and takes a few steps. His stride is different now. Slow, contemplating, as his gaze raking over her, as if he in the first place doesnât know why he brought her here and heâs assessing what to do. A war map, and he knows where all the faults lie.
âI thought we could spend some time togetherâ he starts, walking past her to go sit near the fire âAlone.â he adds once he leisurely sits down, crossing his long legs and resting his hands on the armrests. âWhat better place than a vacant room? No one will come looking for us here.â
She tries as hard as she can to stop the little smirk at the corner of her lips; she walks closer, stopping right in front of him, staring down. âThey might hear.âÂ
âHmm. And that is much of a trouble for you, isnât it?â he asks with the most fake genuine tone, taking a cup from the nearby table, and then âYou sucked my cock on a terrace and begged me to fuck you in the Small CouncilâŠI thought I told you to quit your act.â
She smiles openly now, watching the wine pouring in the cup, his eye fixed on the liquid as his eyebrow shots up. âBesides, I know exactly what to do to muffle your noises.â
âYou should be proud of my noises.â
âI am.â He says, taking a sip of wine, his eye piercing through her above the cupâs brim. âBut for once, Aegon is right. Iâm not one for sharing.â
His arm moves to put the wine aside but she takes it, only to feel his hand pulling the cup away from her. âYou cannot drink.â
âFine.â She concedes, leaning on him. âIâll have it my way.â
She holds his face and with her left hand she glides her fingers on the left side of his face, delicately but with purpose, pushing the eyepatch off. And then she kisses him, eagerly, licking his lips and then breaching inside to taste the wine on his tongue, on the roof of his mouth.
She sighs deeply when he locks his tongue with hers, and feels his lips curling.
âDid you hear it?â He says breaking the kiss, breathing into her mouth. âThat one is my favorite.â
âYour favorite what?â She asks mindlessly, chasing his lips but to no use, because he tilts his head back, his cursed smirk ghosting.
âNoise. Itâs a little thingâŠâ he tells her, locking one hand around her neck âin the back of your throat, close to a sigh but not quiteâŠâ his fingers trails against her throat, chasing her swallowing âIt tells me youâre dying to.â
âTo do what?â
âFall on your knees for me. Be a supplicant.â
She grabs the back of his neck, driving his head close and looks down at his arched mouth âYou cannot live without God, can you?â She looks up, her mouth open to breathe âSeven of them seem to have cursed me. I had to find my own.â
His eye widens at that. He looks straight into her eyes, so devoted, so raw. Sheâs right. The Gods would curse her some more if they saw she looks at him the way she should look at the Gods.
âThen do it.â
âWhat?â
âFlatteries donât work on me, sweetling. You should know that.â With his hand on her neck, he slightly pushes her away, making some distance between them. âYou will have to show me.â
âWhat would you have me do?â
His hands let go of her completely, resting on the armchair. The gemstone glints blue, and yet itâs nowhere near the bright cursed thing in his eye. âGet on your knees for me. Now.â
She should be ashamed of the pull in her bones, the muscles willing to move on their own accord and fall to the ground. But why, why does it have to be sin? Why can it not be religion?
When her knees hit the ground, she sees his chest rise, his long fingers spreading flat on the armchair. But her eyes fly back to his face as soon as he speaks, as soon as he commands. âTake off your dress.â
His eye sinks down, watching her hands work the corset, steadily. Itâs the only sound in the room, this tugging, at the dress. But she tugs at his cock too. She tugs between her own legs.
When the dress is nothing but a pool of green on the ground, she goes to pull down her white chemise, but she suddenly stops. Aemond uncrosses his legs and the air hitches in her throat as his hands go straight to his belt, unbuckling it.
He revels in the little lump in her throat. Perhaps later he will let her have what sheâs craving, but not so soon. âGive me your wrists.â
âMyââ
âDonât make me say it again.â
Swallowing, she keeps her eyes on him and raises her hands, like an offering. Aemond takes off his belt and leans forward, enough to take her hands and cross her wrists. She shudders at the sharp tug when he wraps the leather around, tying them tight.
âOn your feet.â
And up she goes, testing her hands briefly but finding soon that she cannot move them, at all.
âCome.â
It takes one swift movement of his leg, bending the knee while the other rests loosely on the ground, for her to get the gist and walk closer, sitting on his knee, sideways.
âNo. Like this.â Quite harshly, he grabs her hips and turns her so that sheâs straddling his thigh. He can hear her little gasp when he pushes his thigh firmly against her core. He can feel her warmth through the fabric, stirring his cock. But he pays it no mind, for now.
âWhat now?â She asks, poised precariously on his thigh.Â
Aemond tilts his head, and he just looks at her. In the spur of a moment, a boyish one that doesnât sit well with how heâs built, he thinks he might be quite contented by merely looking at her. Because sheâs beautiful and mine, mine, mine.
But his hands are burning, they might fray and wither if he doesnât touch her. He unties her hair, running his fingers through them as they fall around her shoulders. The Maiden. The Mother. And yet something better, something worse. Because her eyes are hungry, her mouth is starving for air, for his flesh.
âYou must toil to find God.â He says, and then he grins. A savage thing, full of promise. âBring yourself to come.â
A flash of thrill lights up her face, darkens her eyes and Aemond tilts his head again, biding all the time in the world, for he knows she will.
Tentatively, she pushes her body down, against his thigh, feeling a timid shot of pleasure traveling up from her core, ending in a short, labored breath.
That noise, that might be his second favorite.
Soon, her hips start to move back and forth, each time trying to push herself down as hard as she can, making little breathless cries each time she fails to give herself the friction she needs. She has little balance due to her tied wrists, so she rests her palms on his chest to gain some leverage. And that seems to do the trick.
She tilts her head back, moving faster, doing little jumps on his thigh, panting harshly as sweat lumps on her forehead and pleasure coils in her belly.
Aemond hikes up her chemise, watches her cunt brushing back and forth against his leg, leaving a trail of wetness on the fabric of his breeches. He has to choke down a growl. âGods, youâre soaking meâŠâ
She looks down at him, her cheeks pink, her lips open in a little o. He canât help himself. He sticks two fingers inside and how relishing it is that she waits for no invitation or order. She laps, twirls her tongue around his fingertips, sucks them.
âLook at youâŠâ he croons, taking his fingers out, leaving a trail of saliva down her chin. âBut you canât, can you? Perhaps I should fuck you before a mirror, so you see. You see how pretty you are when youâre desperate for me.â
His hand travels down her neck, tossing her hair back and then grasping the strap of her chemise, pulling it down, revealing her swollen, turgid breast. He leans forward immediately, cupping it in his hand, and takes the nipple into his mouth, crooning contentedly and then some more when he feels her wince and cry out loud.
Her tied wrists writhe in their merciless hold and he stops her, gripping both her hands with one of his own, keeping her still, lapping and sucking at her nipple until he feels something wet and saccharine on his tongue, humming all the better. He grazes his teeth over the sensitive bud, and she cries out again, bucking violently against him, turning sloppy and frenzy as she feels the fall close.
He feels it too, feels her thighs trembling around him, and thatâs when he takes her hips in a tight hold and forces her to stop altogether.
âDid you think I would make it so easy?â he asks spitefully, seeing her dazed expression. Wasting no time, he holds her firmly close to him and stands up. It takes him only two of his long steps to reach the bed and place her above. In a moment of illusive freedom, her tied wrists fly to his breeches, to his evident hardness, but heâs quick to stop her, bringing her arms above her head, keeping them there with a firm hold. âStay still.â
âAemondââ she pleads.
âHush. Spread your legs.â
She obliges, eager for him to do something, anything to stop the aching. Aemond wets his fingers on his tongue and brings them down, breaching inside her with two of them, watching her gasp, arch her back and twist her wrists in his hold, uselessly. âEasyâŠâ he cruelly laughs âI have just started.â
But she hasnât. Sheâs a few steps away from the precipice of her previous denied peak, it would take him so little to push her over the edge. Instead, his torture is so slow that the whole coiling in her belly falls apart and she must climb her peak again.
His two fingers slip in and out ever so easily, their wet sounds echoing through the room, mixed with her panted breaths and his own. He aches for her to touch him, he aches so much that his cock is pulsing, painfully, but this is just too thrilling. Now he knows exactly how she felt in Harrenhal, when she had him chained up to a chaise.
Her hips rock frantically against his hand, trying to speed him, to get there faster. Mumbling nonsense, her legs tense like iron, her cunt clenches and sucks his fingers in like a vice. âYesâŠyes, pleaseâŠAemondâŠplease donât stopââm so closeâŠâ
And just like that, he slips his fingers out; a dark pleasure dances on his candle-lit features as she writhes and whines for the loss of his fingers, swinging her lower back and forth, desperate for the barest friction that would end her misery.
âAemond, pleaseâŠâ she says, and even with only one eye, he canât mistake the tears of frustration at the corners of her eyes.
âWhat, my love?â
âPleaââ sheâs cut off by his hand, pushing his sticky fingers inside to make her clean up her mess.
âWe said enough with subtleties, did we not? Speak. Tell meâŠwhat you need me to do?â
âLet me come pleaseâŠpleaseâŠâ
At that, he finally lets her wrists go, and she almost winces in pain, for the time she had them tensed above her head. He stalls for a moment, unsure, running his eye over her whole body, sweating and feverish, and so beautifully plump because of motherhood. He unbuttons his doublet, and then his shirt, his breeches. He bares himself completely, catching her eyes following his deft hands everywhere, breathing heavily.
He kneels between her legs, spreading them. And itâs embarrassing, really, the way she tumbles as soon as he puts his tongue flat against her drenched folds. If only she cared.
It takes only a couple of twirls of his tongue around her lips, and she comes undone, shaking all over, canting her slit against his face. He helps her ride out her climax, by not stopping at all. Instead, he doubles his efforts like a man possessed, pushing his mouth open against her cunt as if he wished to devour it, sucking harshly until she whimpers hard, choking on a loud sob. âAemondâwaitâI canâtââ
She cannot take more so soon. But heâs utterly deaf to her complaints.
He feasts on her, lapping and dipping his tongue in, parting her folds to go as deep as he can, humming while drinking all of her; his voice reverberates through her flesh, it makes her bones rattle.
His long nose rubs against her bud and he looks up: she trashes about the sheets, cutting herself as the belt leather scratches her skin. She tries to push him away with her tied wrists, to no use. She clamps her legs around his head, in a desperate attempt to chase him away, sobbing for the unbearable stimulation. And yetâŠand yet her hips move on their own whim, bucking with sharp jolts until the wave starts to rise, higher and higher, and she drowns in it, letting go a high-pitched cry, clutching his scalp with both her tied hands, scraping, pushing him against her as she rides her peak against his face. Â
He swallows everything, licking her clean, moaning softly at feeling her pulsing on his tongue.
âEnoughâŠIâAemond you have to stopâŠâ she rasps breathlessly. Â
âWhy?â he asks, finally rising from where he had perched himself; he climbs on her, until he speaks to her face. âI am only making up to you. Wasnât that what you wanted?â
She can smell herself on him, she can see herself, glistening on his mouth, chin, even his cheekbones.
âAnswer me.â His hand grips her jaw âYou said you wanted everything.â
She chokes down a whimper when he leans completely on her, feeling his cock against her cooling flesh, while heâs hot and hard and heavy.
âI will give you more.â He says, brushing a strand of her sweat-soaked hair from her temple. âI will give you another child. Keep you all aching and wet for me while you swell with my child. Do you think I donât know? How you ached for me? Dâyou think I didnât?â he presses himself down, so she can feel it thoroughly, furrowing her brow as her body already answers to his call.
âI can feel you in our bedâŠâ he keeps rasping ârubbing your legs together. And you know how much that bothers me. Your pleasure is mine to takeâŠand to give.â
Her lips part, gasping roughly. She was so hung on his lips that she hadnât even registered that he had taken hold of himself, bending her knee on his left hip, and guided himself in.
She arches against him while he slowly sheathes himself all the way in, moaning with long-awaited relief. He stays still for a moment, adjusting, but also because he takes her wrists and sets her hands free.
Thrilling as it was, he wants her hands on him, he craves her touch.
He wants her to cling to his shoulders as she always does, digging her nails down.
He wants her to clamp her fingers on the back of his neck, scraping and pulling his hair to keep him close enough to moan into his mouth.
He wants her hands on his back, sliding down, to push him even deeper while rutting inside her.
And she does all of that. She finds God.

A/n: no words. No plot full of porn. Enjoy my freaky folks! Thank you @thekinslayed for feeding my delusionsđ€ Reblogs & comments are appreciatedđ©· also not a word is beta-ed.
You watch the buzzing city silently from the council roomâs balcony, sighing when the large shadow of Vhagar looms over the sight, her screech cutting through the air with force. You can feel the restlessness in her, it must be Aemond who is raging from inside as he guides her outside the city towards the hill where she rests most of the time.Â
You look down at the castleâs grounds; the chill in the air has become a nuisance for the gardeners, bringing the flowers to their deaths faster than expected, just like how the infection spreads through your husbandâs body.
With another sigh, you look at the hill Vhagar lands on, the ground shaking beneath her heavy weight. You know it will be some time until Aemond arrives at the castle, but the idea of him being enraged with how a dragon was claimed and the Blacks now have the upper hand makes you worried; you do not know how to calm the wild dragon within him.
You wait until you crane your neck and see him returning on the horse, barging through the castle gates before he jumps down from the saddle, taking long strides towards the entrance with fury bursting through his veins.
Fiddling with your hand, you hear his rushed footsteps approaching the council room, each step has your heart racing â with what? You do not know, or you do not wish to acknowledge it. After all, this silly little affair that the council has bestowed on you to produce an heir has turned into something more, or at least the numbers you have warmed each otherâs beds cannot be counted with fingers anymore.
Your head snaps towards the direction of the door, watching as Aemond walks past the guards, ordering them to go out with bark in his tone, fists clenching and unclenching as he tries to keep his anger at bay, but ultimately fails, and the next thing you know is the heavy chair of the council is being thrown and Aemond slams his fists on the table, groaning in anger and frustration.
âThey have more dragons,â he whispers, but you hear the sound of his rough breathing, âthey can end this war if I do nothing!â
âMy prince, you shouldââ
âI should what?â He looks up from the marble table, glaring at you with his good eye, âListen to your advice? Letting my council run the realm while I do fucking nothing?â
âMaybe you ought to put your arrogance aside for onceââ
Aemond walks towards you on the balcony, his face hardening as he grabs your jaw tightly, smirking as he sees your lips quivering not in fear, but more in determination to show you are more than what the council wants you to be. And with your pretty thighs rubbing together, he knows how every minor actor of his has you putty in his hands.
âMy arrogance, My Queen, is the only reason the walls of this castle havenât fallen yet,â he leans down, his nose brushing against yours roughly as he whispers against your lips, âNot everyone can sit prettily in a gown and wait for her prince regent to come and fuck an heir inside her.â
âYour arrogance and bruised ego are why they have more dragons than us. You could have kept your ambitions from blinding you at Rookâs Rest, maybe then, our King would be able to fight with you at the battlefieldââ you are cut off by a gasp as he turns you around and bends you over the balcony stones harshly.
Your chest comes in contact with the cold stone and you slap your hand on your mouth as a loud moan erupts from your lips when Aemond presses his entire body to your backside, feeling the hard bulge in his pants rubbing against your covered thigh.
âMy ambitions are why your filthy inappropriate fantasies have come to life,â he leans over you, his teeth finding their way to the sensitive skin of your neck, sinking into the flesh without a single thought, âdid you not tell me you wish it was me taking you every night instead of my brother? Yes, yes, it was you. Just as it is you who will take my cock until my seed has taken root, and my babe â our future King â licks at your womb.â
You bite down on your fingers hard, grinding your hips back into his crotch as soon as he pushes the layers of your gown up to your waist, chuckling when he sees you shivering the moment your bare heated sex is exposed to the open air.
âWe should not be doing this here! What if someone hears?â You ask Aemond, throwing your head back when he swipes his fingers through your wetness, humming before he reaches for the loops of his belt, pulling his pants and breeches down before he grabs his cock, stroking it a few times to full hardness.
âLet them hear, let them hear their queen doing her duty. There is no better way to show them how the heir to the throne was conceived,â he replies, one hand bracing himself on your shoulder blades to keep you completely bent over and unable to move while the other lines up his thick leaking head with your entrance before he enters you swiftly with one smooth stroke.
âAemond!â You cry out, your fingers falling from your lips as he sets his pace, fucking you recklessly and with abandon, not caring if anyone hears you, or better, sees you.Â
âYes, My Queen? Already screaming my name? I almost pity my brother, almost. Gods know if you have not screamed âAemondâ Â in his ears,â he smirks to himself when you grab the edge of the stone, your body moving with each thrust.
âFuck, fuckââ
âYes, thatâs rightââ he groans, his hand gripping your hip tightly, âyou were always mine, fucking mine. Even when you shared his bed, you were thinking of me, wishing and praying that one day you will be owned by me.â
âYes, My Prince, yes!â You moan, not thinking if anyone would hear you, it did not matter anyway since the words of your affair and marital activities have reached the whores of the Flea Bottom.
âOh, sweet Queen of mine, I have possessed you; first with words, now with my cock. We only need a babe to seal our bond,â he reaches around your body, finding your pearl in seconds as he starts rubbing quick circles on the nerves, making you arch your back and meet his thrusts as best as possible.
You can only nod at his words, truly succumbing to his and your desires once and for all, the pleasure only adding to his determination to fuck you, and you to show your devotion to him.
âThey have more dragons, I have a cunt worth dying for. I guess I shall win this war.â
Suddenly, the doors to the council room open, and the cupbearer drops the jar of wine on the floor when he sees the two of you on the balcony, you moaning and Aemond fucking you.Â
The sound catches Aemondâs attention immediately, pulling out of you slowly before he waltzes towards the balcony doors, looking the man dead in the eyes and cock out before he demands; âOut, now,â and slams the doors shut.
He comes back, his fingers wrapping around his dick before he sees you straightening your back a little. He has no time for silly little games, his balls are aching and the image of your swollen cunt is too much for him to let you go and find a better place to resume your activities.
âAemondââ
âHush you,â he pushes you back down, bending you over once more before he thrusts his cock back into your welcoming cunt, groaning in sync with your shriek as your warmth envelops his length, âjust take it, yes, take it. No one can stop me from taking whatâs mine. I will fuck you day and night for fortnights to come, I will have you, mark you as mine until everyone smells me on you.â
Even the idea of it has you shaking and trembling as your peak hits you hard and fast, the pleasure rushing through your veins as you gush around his cock. Hands bracing your body on the stones, you cry out his name, drawing Aemond closer to his high.
He follows not long after, grabbing your waist with both hands before he hammers himself into you roughly, stilling his hips harshly against yours, caging your body between his and the balcony stones as he empties his balls inside you, ropes of his cum painting your inside while he throws his head back, chest rising and falling rapidly.
There is no doubt in your head anymore, that Aemond has possessed you in more than one way, more than one place. After all, he will go to war barehanded if he can come back home to you and your heavenly cunt.

The war was afoot, degeneracies increasing, treacherous plans and endless councils. Amidst all of that y/n still found time to pay Haelena a visit as frequently as she could. Both of them had found impeccable friends in each other and the twins were always a delight. Striding through the halls of red keep, prodding her head inside with a soft knock on the queen's doors which were wide open as it is, "look!" y/n entered with a wide smile on her face. Twirling around she showed Haelena the dress she wore, it was a dress Haelena had embroidered for her with special spiders and other custom animals. Haelena had remarked on y/n's elegantly plain dresses, the edges could all use embroidery and y/n was more than glad to let Haelena design on her dress. "You made it so much better, the small bugs in blue thread itâs so beautifully assembled-" before she could comment more on the beauty of her queen sister's embroidery she was there to showcase, y/n was under attack of her niece and nephew, "why good morrow to you two!" she giggled as the two tugged at her dress for consecutive raise-me-ups.Â
"I am very glad!" Haelena said offering her a smile as she scanned those designs, Haelena was warmly elated that y/n chose to wore the dress she had embroidered and the fact that she let her do it in the first place.
"You must teach me your ways" y/n commented whilst actively engaging with jaehaerys and jaehaera, she couldn't carry both the babies at the same time but she was trying to entertain them regardless, the two were latched to their auntie's knees like monkeys.
"I could always make you more, save you the time!" Haelena offered instead, she tried to distract whichever one of the children with a toy but both were way too smitten with their ever so busy aunt, now that she had the council she spent supposedly lesser time with the twins.
"That too would be so convenient!" Y/n said, Jaehaera was raised on her back, making mischief with her aunt as she tried to close her eyes with her tiny hands from behind. Both the twins laughing as she did so, regardless y/n laughed along trying to maintain her balance the best.
"That is enough..." Haelena trailed off in amusement as she helped Jaehaera off of y/n's back. The babe did not let go before whining about it, jaehaerys still tugging at his aunt's dress to get her to bend down so he could talk.
"It's alright" let out a small chuckle y/n's attention was caught down to the little heir pulling at her dress, for her to bend to his level. "Yes little prince?" She asked, attentive to her nephew's whims and demands.
"You said you were going to read to me" Jaeherys reminded her in a rather witty sense, having a sense of one upping her since she forgot about it.
"Oh did I now?" She paused for a second trying to remember when exactly was the reading session arranged for.
"Yes! The-the one with the fox and the-crows...where you do the voice!" The little prince was soon to remind her of which exact story they had left off from. He liked it better when his auntie read it to him than the wet nurses or his mum because she often did those giddy voices and the stories she read in were more entertaining than the ones with septa.
"Gods I must have forgotten" she said in a somewhat melodramatic tone to make the child think she took their reading session as a serious matter, "I have got some work on my hands at the moment but I assure you I will come continue the story-"
"When!" Jaeherys whined with a sort of tired expression given the delay in his story.
"Tonight." She answered genuinely, "Right after dinner!"
"Do you promise?" He asked wanting to take her aunty's word for proper surety.
"I promise." She said holding his tiny hands in hers giving them a gentle squeeze to assure him of her promise. Kissing both her niece and nephew on the forehead as she stood up, in attempt to take her peace Haelena stopped her.
"Are you not afraid?" Asked her sister in law with a tense look on her face, like those times when she would be out of it. As if she spoke another language and saw other things. "When the stones call you back?"
"What...what stones?" She asked, at first y/n thought Haelena was referring to some palace. Could this be in correlation to something with the council, is what y/n presumed.
"The stones. They will call you back!" Haelena gripped her elbows tighter, to emphasise the gravity of the situation she felt. "They'll take you away!"
"Nobody is taking anyone away..." y/n trailed off, shaking her head slightly as she ran her hand down Haelena's in a soothing way. "We are all safe here and there is nothing to be scared of. I promise you. I am not going anywhere." She assured her. Y/n assumed that it would worry Haelena to lose the best friend she had in herself if she were to go back because of the war waging. In her father's name perhaps, her worry was not unsolicited but y/n was sure her father's was a house not hers that is even before her marriage with Aemond.
Haelena could never seem to get her point across for some reason, she couldn't digest her wearies in a coherent way herself so she nodded with a small smile. The restlessness still consistent within her as y/n took her leave. Ever since the intimate moment with Aemond, their relationship had grown rather awkward. Aemond was closed off as always, unable to convey his infatuation. Awkward in this area, the young lovers found it difficult to navigate through a conversation. Bristling fingers through glasses, stealing glances, speaking out their love in small gestures.
That did not account for the fact that the council matters too seeped into the newlywed's marital bliss phase. Aemond too had a seat now, on the king's word. He would attend those meetings and at times the two would have drastically counter opinions. His lady wife, she would sit in the same line of seats after the hand and his mother. Speaking their minds against him, just as they had intended for her. A council within the council. "All you do is account for grand sire and mother, no such thoughts of your own. A mere puppet." Aemond scoffed as they were currently in a conversation in their chambers reflecting to that day's council meeting.
The day was at its end and as was y/n, end of her wits. His bickering was just what she needed, "And you?" she said in a tone more accusatory than his, rightfully so "all you add to the discussions is the warpath Ser Criston weaves."
"I stand for it, you just chew out what the council within the council spews" he scoffed, coming out harsher than intended but now this had become usual."I know you informed the hand of my meetings with Cole."
"Didn't do it as a snitch, had you asked me I would have told you I informed the hand." Y/n said trying to counter his condescending remarks. She wasn't a 'puppet' how he implied "Just because I do not agree with you doesn't make me a puppet to those with better judgment than yours."
"Better judgment than mine?" He let out a low huff finding it absurd that she believed Otto and his mother had a better judgment over the war than his, "you think writing to other castles, pleading, awaiting their help whilst we have three large dragons is a better judgement?"
"And what? What do you plan to do with the dragons? Burn all those against us?" She asked him growing agitated having this conversation again, "You are in favour of a lot of unnecessary bloodshed-"
"It is necessary. To make an example, to lay out a path." Aemond interrupted her, taking in a small breath "Raise your banners or watch them burn. This is what the blacks are already set to implement whilst we sit hand on hand sending out messengers!"
"You want to create a sense of fright! That is all you will accomplish with burning houses." She said in an assertive tone as she crossed her arms. This is what Ser Criston had told him too, the words struck him a small remembrance.
"Are you eavesdropping my meetings with Cole?" He questioned, as the reference resembled similar words to Cole's. Cole didn't exactly have the same notion as his wife but the words were vaguely same.
"You sit right across this room" she gestured to the adjoining room after their bedchamber. The small opening after their room led to the table against the wall where Cole and Aemond had their meetings, "The meetings you have after you assume I'm asleep, as it is too loud enough for me to not eavesdrop or be able to sleep."
"Of course" he couldn't help but roll his eyes, "You must have told the hand about it word for word yes? Like a parrot"
"Don't think of yourself too highly, your conversations are rather predictable even to those who aren't present" she replied. He wasn't wrong that she informed the hand about it but she took accountability for that.
"At least my conversations hold a spine" in two strides he reached the table she was leaning on to pour himself a glass of wine, "Unlike yours, but well that is what was intended for you" he shrugged.
For a moment, y/n sighed shutting her eyes "What are you implying?" She asked trying to maintain a calm composure because she was aware he would have words that would make antagonise her.
"You know, why you are in the council in the first place" he said in casual harshness. "Otto needed someone to voice his opinions like the righteous little lady that you are."
"I am on the council because of the seat I have inherited through my father." Y/n referred to the original conversation for her being on the council, he wasn't even part of that decision yet acted like he knew better than anyone. Smugly sipping his wine as he set his cup aside, the inherent smirk on his face irritated her to no end.
"You are claiming the father's seat who didn't even want to claim you?" He scoffed, Aemond could attest for the fact that he did not hate her in full surety. Rather fond of her too, but he was fond of his lady wife. The soft lover he did not knew he needed, big eyes that held love for everything they were laid upon. Tenderness and warmth seeping out the cracks of her which would mend the hollow cracks in him but it was the council member in her, otto's silent weapon which he could not stand.
In the process of wanting to get back at righteous council member he couldn't stand he truly hurt the daughter that begged for her world to sun, tears brimmed her eyes and she could not help it. She struck him across the face, the nerve of him. Shattered the home she thought she might finally have. He simply flinched at her action, his eyes widened a bit not at her gesture but at her tears. Registering her tears before the slap she landed her, at loss of words. "Leave." She spoke with a shuddered breath, couldn't even meet his eyes. Feeling stripped of the hope and pride she spent days building. Y/n had never raised a hand to anyone, that didnât exactly harm Aemond in any way still the gesture in itself made her feel ugly after a momentâs silence marinated the interaction.
Without saying a word Aemond did leave, he didn't want to retaliate with her in any way. Because in that very moment both of them took a misstep and he did not want that moment to last longer. In a few strides he was out of their chambers. Y/n gripped the table to steady herself as the tears streamed down her face, a restlessness made home within her chest as she took heavy breaths.
The weight of all her despair was so heavy, at times she would just shut them in case and shove them deep inside her heart and inside her mind so she wouldn't have to face them in retrospect. It all just felt so inescapable, how she begged to be her father's daughter and how she was rejected the whole time. Now, farther away from him, bit by bit being at peace with the people she now surrounded herself with. Even in such state of distress she didn't feel alone any longer, she even felt loved. As far stretched as it sounded she even felt at ease with Aemond and he shattered all of it with just one sentence.
She lost the track of time since the moments of Aemond walking out as she just stood there falling apart, but when she felt some footsteps behind her she wiped her tears trying to compose herself. If there was anything she learned from her father it was that, nobody ever cared how much you fall apart so don't give them a reason to hold against you. Daemon always hated weeping children. Quickly she wiped her tears, she wouldn't want Aemond to think of her weak in these times. With a deep sigh she turned to face the footsteps she assumed was Aemond.
Apparently it wasn't. "Yes?" She asked with furrowed brows to the stranger who just walked into the room, not even a knock or an announcement like the guards or servants. The man wasn't even dressed like a guard or a servant. She stood alarmed taking a step further into the table as the man forwarded towards here without a word. "Guard-" she tried to yell as loud as she could but the man grabbed her head in a swift motion and shoved her into the table's edge. As if to knock her unconscious.
"Not another word or I kill you." Blood said with his hands around her neck, about to choke her as she struggled against him. Trying to grasp against his hands on her, trying to suffocate her she kicked her legs. Tried to scream regardless of his warning. With an extreme distaste for her, obviously, in blood's eyes the princess wasn't even worth so much and too much trouble to smuggle out. "Your daddy wants you back."
-
By the time the guards did find the princess, in the hallways, she was already half unconscious. Immediately rescued into the safest place in the keep, the council. Retrieved but not at all unharmed. The council was already set into course for the subject of the young prince when Larys walked in with y/n. He had previously informed her of what had happened with her nephew, his passing it hadn't really struck her yet given she could barely process all that had happened.
Queen alicent gasped as she stood up quickly running to y/n's side, all the bruises on her face, open cuts and bleeding out the torn sleeves in her dress. "Gods..." she exclaimed in horror as she helped her onto her seat. "What happened to her?" She asked Lord Larys.
"The guards found the intruder, trying to smuggle the princess out of the keep. A gold cloak known for his brutal nature, found with her, having inflicted his brutality upon her and...the prince's head, in a sack." He briefed the council as they all listened to him, everyone else but the king at loss of words. As Lord Larys left alicent was still tending to y/n, cooing at her, she seemed to be in a half conscious state.
"I am alright" she muttered to her mother in law as Alicent nodded but held her hand in hers to provide her whatever consolation she could. Just the sight of having suffered such assault sent the queen into a huge distress. Weakly holding her hand back as if to steady herself into this nightmare. When Lord Larys told her of Jahaerys's tragedy she did not believe it at all. She was confidently positive there must be some mistake in his information because that would not be possible at all.
If it wasn't for Aegon screeching in the background, y/n couldn't make out if she was actually awake in this very moment. The ringing in her ears still hadn't gone out and she wished that she would perish with that same ringing if it were to happen because living through this seemed so difficult. No way to navigate, circumstance so heavy she felt paralysed to meet anyone's face. Aegon was screeching as he wept for his son, blind with rage to kill the man found guilty for the crime. The member advised otherwise saying the king has a lot of enemies and they don't know for sure whose hand it could be.
"I suppose you are right..." Aegon trailed off slowly pacing down the table back to his seat, with an accusatory demeanour towards everyone else "it could be anyone of you, in this room."
A small silence fell, strengthening the tension and grief in the room as y/n just stared at the empty seat beside her. That very morning, just the day prior, where her nephew sat. Then Aemond after him, empty now. "It was Daemon." She declared of what she knew for sure, first time in her life she referred to Daemon with his first name instead of her father. After everything that he did, every misery she endured at the hands of her father, what happened now made her want to be distanced and foreign from him as much as she could. "His doing." She breathed and looked at the council, the drained colour on everyone's face she just registered-it was blinding her. "The manâthe gold cloak" she continue, "trying to get a hold of me, h-heâhe said 'your daddy wants you back.'" Repeating the words sent a chill down her spine as if she was in that very moment again, she still felt those hands on her, suffocating and heavy. A disgusting play in the mix. âThat man came here, on Daemonâs order.â
The rest were comprehending that still, how a man could be so crude not only killing a child but having his own assaulted and kidnapped back home like this? " In one sense, as we determine what happened and...if we in the keep are still in peril. In another sense of course...it doesn't matter." Otto said and looked at Y/n. The princess surely did not seem to understand the hand's implication.
However Lord Tyland did so, "You mean to blame Rhaenyra." He said in a beat. "Tell the realm she had done this." Tyland spoke out Otto's implication.
"I'll have the realm told nothing! We were assaulted within our own walls, within our own beds!" Aegon spoke up almost immediately "Y/n, my brother's wife! The fucking princess almost beaten unconsciousâbeing smuggled out?" He emphasised on the word brother, enraged even for his sister in law and the lack of his brother's presence when it must have mattered the most. "I will not be seen as weak!"
"You are already seen as weak aegon." Otto replied once again sending the king into a manic breakdown as he threw around more cups and vases. Otto theorised about how important it was to name Rhaenyra as a cruel person. Killer of infants, despite of whose direct orders those were. The narrative would be what they made.
"You would change, the blood that is on daemon's hand just to spite Rhaenyra." Y/n questioned, red eyes and characteristically on the verge of tears since she walked in here. Alicent found it so hard to look at her face, the cuts and bruises, poor thing. The heavy torment inside her head must be unimaginable, Alicent thought whilst holding y/n's hand a bit tighter. It felt like one of those moments when she was just a child, so many years ago. She would recall, the girl child was such a loner, always speaking in short words that is if spoken to. The shy little girl, who would just sit in a corner and colour or read. So much like her Aemond yet so different. When they would be in public settings, too many people, she would meekly hold Alicent's hand. Amongst all those unfamiliar faces. Little y/n just deemed Alicent familiar, comfortable. What was so wholesome years ago held such horror now. Alicent holding the lady's hand to provide her comfort her words won't be able to, the protection she could not. "Why won't you paint that man for the monster that he is?!" Y/n spoke as her voice broke, it felt unfair. Daemon not being held accountable yet again.
"Because, Daemon isn't the pretender to the throne. He would be the king consort. Banners are being declared for Rhaenyra, not in his name." Otto explained, to his preference narrative was just a useful toy. One name here or there did not make a difference.
"That is unfair." She said shaking her head, tears brimmed her eyes, taking in short breaths. In all these council meetings she did not speak up against Otto considering him respectable and more learned yet today, "how can you keep on accounting for him...again and again?!" Y/n asked but she was begging in agony. "Y-You were here. Always present. And you never did anythingâall his heinous crimes! You always had the opportunity to hold him responsible and you did nothing!" She exclaimed, not being able to help herself as she thought back to a conversation at this very table. A conversation she must not have been there for, but the hand would have.
"It is perhaps your shock and grief speaking for you." Otto replied, not moved by the young lady's accusations at all. "I for one, do not understand your place of reference"
"When he murdered my mother!" Y/n said, growing more and more restless with her speech. Otto must be right, it was all the piled up grief inside of her speaking for her in this very moment but she could not let the monster that was her father be off the hook again, "You could've held a proper council, had him pay for what he did and we wouldn't be seeing this day today! We have that chance now and yet again you would rather Rhaenyra take the blame for his barbarism!"
Otto felt silent for a moment, the girl's rage was justified to the extent of him having no answer for her but he knew to trust his wit more, "I cannot undo...my regrets. I assure you I hold a lot of remorse in having a part in letting daemon go from daemon to the rogue prince and now this...monster. But if we don't do this, he would become king consort. The word consort is a feeble adjective." What he said was supposed to make sense to y/n but she could not see past the rage and need for vengeance she held against her father. Looking away, she wiped her tears. "A funeral progress. Let them see the child. Let them look upon the works of this pretender to the throne." Otto proposed once y/n was assuming-ly settled.
"Father" Alicent said with weary and concerned eyes, such tragedy being shouted out as a public funeral procession sounded so vain.
"My king..." Otto waited for Aegon's presumedly understood voice.
"No..." Aegon answered firmly "I will not have my little son's body dragged through the street like a dead dog." As he said that y/n felt nearly faint. To this very moment she did not accept that the child had passed.
"Not dragged, honoured." Otto corrected. "Escorted to the dragon pits to be burned as a Targaryen prince!" Otto went on and on about how he loved his grandson, his heart was in the right place with the grief yet the path he set was in accordance with the warpath. Just plots and schemes. Falling silent, paralysed y/n looked down to her lap. She refused to even register this conversation because it meant registering the fact that a darling child, Jahaerys...was gone.
Aegon couldn't stomach this proposal which came as an already arranged firm announcement either, looking around the room nobody said a word against the hand's plan. "You would say nothing?!" He demanded of y/n, why won't somebody help this mad notion. "Your dear nephew, have you nothing to add?" He was almost begging, hoping she would get the hand to change his mind for this funeral procession. She didn't, y/n just looked up at Aegon and then Alicent, tears in her eyes which just didn't seem to stop flowing. "Mother." Aegon called out when y/n couldn't speak up.
Leaving y/n's side Alicent walk's up to aegon, "the hand sets a difficult path, my darling. But it might be the right one." She told her inconsolable soul.
"Let the silent sisters ready the prince for his final journey." Otto said without waiting a moment for the king or anyone to come forth with opposition "And riding behind him, his mother the queen, the princess and the queen dowager."
"No, I do not wish to be spectacle." Alicent opposed instantly, the weariness and fright in y/n's eyes speaking the same "Especially y/n, not in this state. She can barely talk-stand, she has been terrorised. You can't simplyâ"
"The realm must see the sorrow of the crown. A sorrow best expressed through its gentle souls." Otto said followed by alicent sighing, then he looked at the side to y/n, "We need to display our heavily victimised as well" he said, the bleeding wounds on her face seemed like little trophies of sympathy to Otto. "I think you'll all agree the king himself must be spared."
-
A deafening silence lingered within Aemond, he had been out, sharpening out his swords, practising. Fucking practising on jute bags when he should've been there. Y/n was in Alicent's chambers because she could not walk into her own, couldn't even take in the sight of it. The thrashed furniture, from her struggling against the intruding gold cloak. The...the sack. In which he had stored the boy's head. Where the man had placed it in her chamber, at the entrance, it had created a circular stain of blood. Jahaerys's blood. She could not even think about the room within those four walls without picturing the insidious crime. She sat on the floor against the bed, windows open and soft white light of the day seeping in yet to y/n it still felt like a night of hailstorm. She didn't even look up to the footsteps of the stride coming inside the room, Aemond. He walked to her, kneeling down to the floor to her level.
Aemond was drenched with so much guilt in his heart, he felt pathetic to even breathe the same air as his lady wife. She had her face turned away from him, he could just see the small cuts on her face, the torn dress, still seeping out dried blood, her weary stature. It was all mortifying in the first place. He was so livid, with himself, with the intruder. Even with Larys, who informed him about the happenings at the last. By the time he rushed back inside the council was already done with. He had nothing he could say to y/n, no way of consoling her either.
It's not as if she would want to be consoled by him too, the emotional support he would want to offer her walked out with him when he walked out after their fight the previous night. With the disturbing things that had happened with her, she had almost forgotten the words he said. She couldn't even remember why she was crying before it all, that sick with grief. Aemond gently held her chin, hesitantly afraid she would turn him away. She had every right to do so. She didn't move him away, had no energy to do so. His heart sank as he saw the blood streaked stitches, poorly done and most of her wounds left untreated. "Why are these open?" He asked her softly, referring to her wounds, "Where are the maesters?"
"The hand, has asked for these to be left raw as they were planted." Y/n briefed him, her voice was so wavering, all that crying. "He means for them to be displayed for the funeral procession...so the realm can see" y/n scoffed softly as she repeated otto's exact words.
"You don't have to go." Aemond told her in a firm way, sure that he could get the hand to change his mind whether he liked it or not because y/n's comfort was his priority.
"No..." she trailed off, in agreement refraining to look at him her voice held no emotion. "But I do. I have to." She continued "Wouldn't want Haelena to be alone"
"Mother would be with her." Aemond added taking her hands in his softly, finally getting her to react to his presence as she looked down upon his gesture. Apparently to take her hands out of his grasp.
"But then I would be alone here..." She trailed off, a hint of frustration and fright in her tone. "I don't want to be alone."
"I would be with you, y/n." Aemond cooed softly fixing the loose strand of her hair, tucking it behind her ear as he leant forward. âYou wonât be alone.â
"I find myself unable to put faith in you, Aemond." She breathed looking down, she felt like a cornered animal, just so scared and full of distrust. "...in your assurance. I'd rather not."
Aemond had nothing he could say to that. She did not trust the integrity of his principles and rightfully so. He knew he had broken that trust of security within her. "My heart, I apologise for the distress I have caused you. I did not mean any of it" he told her but the heaviness in his heart told him his words would change nothing. She couldn't talk either, bursting into tears and her stitches seemed to hurt because her face moved but she was so much numbed to the physical pain in comparison to how she felt inside. Aemond could just offer her his embrace in this time and that is what he did. Enlacing her into her arms, rubbing her back in soothing circles her let her cry into his chest. "They will pay for this." He muttered softly as he continued to hold her. Even with the pain he made her feel, the distrust and hurt she felt just in seeing Aemond could not let her turn away the familiarity of his comfort. His was the only comfort she had ever known.

Authorâs note:Â The events of this oneshot are part of the canon of The Fall from the Heavens series and feature the same characters. I couldn't sleep and that's how I mentally coped with what I saw in the second episode of the second season. You're welcome, lol. If you still didn't watch it, wait with reading it (if you don't like any kind of spoilers). It can be read as a standalone story.

_____
He had returned to their chamber earlier, tense and visibly frustrated despite the fact that he usually spent that part of the day sparring with their sons, training them in the wielding of the sword.
She smiled at him from above her book, watching as he involuntarily looked into the cradle where Visenya slept peacefully.
The birth of their first daughter was joyous news for the entire kingdom, including them.
"So early?" She asked, spreading out comfortably in her chair, curious about this change of plans. Her uncle only pursed his lips at her words, walking over to the table where she sat and reached for a cup, into which he poured himself a little wine.
He remained silent.
A bad sign.
"What's happened?" She asked immediately, seeing that hundreds of thoughts were currently running through his mind, which if they did not find an outlet would eventually explode in the form of his fury.
He took a few deep sips from his goblet without looking at her, setting it down with a loud clink of steel on the table.
"Viserys and Aegon have suggested that Ser Robert should be the one to train them today. They apparently want to become archers." He said with a sneer and anger that startled her. She swallowed hard, closing the book, understanding full well that his words were only the tip of what he was really thinking about.
"In your presence they always feel they have to prove themselves. They're afraid of being ridiculed in front of you. Maybe it'sâŠ"
"At their age I dreamt of my father doing for me what I do for them. This is our time together." He growled, looking out of the corner of his eye into the area where she sat, but not directly at her, immersed in his thoughts, memories and regrets.
"I know." She whispered and her words, something about the way she said them made his lip tremble, made him lower his head in shame and cover his face with his hand, drawing in air loudly.
"They are terrified at the sight of me. Both of them. They don't love me, they just fear me. Their own father." He mouthed, his quivering voice betraying that although he tried to control himself, something about the thought had broken him.
She stood up from her seat, shaking her head, coming up to him quickly, wanting to touch his arm with her hand, but he moved away and turned his head, not wanting her to see what was happening to him.
"If you could hear with what pride and admiration they speak of you when you are not there. They so desperately want to please you." She muttered in pain, feeling a squeeze in her heart at the thought that he might have believed he was a bad father, when they both knew how hard he tried.
"To please me? My sons, they live to please me? And if they don't then what will happen to them? Hm?" He asked and fell silent, looking at her at last, his eye red with grief and despair, his face simultaneously red and pale with emotion, his lips parted in a heavy breath.
He covered his eyes with his hand as he burst into silent sobs, as if he had not stifled the thought for a day or a month, but for years, ever since their first son had been born.
She looked at him in disbelief, stunned, at the same time hurt and saddened by his words, by the thought of how he judged and perceived himself.
"Looking into my eyes do you see anything other than love?" She asked, renewing her attempt, taking a step towards him, and this time he didn't pushed her away, looking at her uncertainly.
"â it's something else â" He whispered.
"â how can it be? â do you think I would love a man who is a bad father to my children? â" She asked further, and he swallowed hard, trying to calm his breathing, his cheeks red from tears.
"â stop it â" He said and turned away, wiping his face, walking to the other side of the room, embarrassed and ashamed of his weakness.
"â sit down on the bed, husband â I want to explain a few things to you â" She finally said.
He sighed heavily and did as she asked, making room beside himself, looking down at his hands, heartbroken. She, however, walked up to him and did not sit next to him, but on his lap, surprising him by taking his warm, red face in her hands, stroking his moist skin with her thumbs.
For a moment she simply looked at him, all helpless and vulnerable, feeling the heat in her chest.
"â you're defending our family â you're the rock that protects us â you have to show strength â be determined â and that's hard when you're king and father at the same time â the burden of the crown is great and you know it â you're trying to prepare them for it â" She whispered, with each successive word placing kisses on his red face: on his forehead, his temple, his eyebrows, his eyelid, his cheekbone, his lips, his jaw.
She felt his hands involuntarily rise to her waist, stroking her through the material of her gown.
"â so why don't they understand this? â why do they push me away? â" He muttered, focusing his gaze on her full, plump lips, his manhood hidden in his breeches pulsed softly in a natural reaction to her closeness.
"â because they are still children â children who need their father to love them no matter what â a father who will sometimes let them go their own way â" She said softly, in a gentle, light motion untying the black ribbon at the back of his head, making the front strands of his silver hair fall over his shoulders.
"â I just want to spend time with them like a father with his sons â I want them to need me â" He whispered, and she nodded, letting his broad hand move her hip closer, making her body press against his.
"â I know, my husband â my sweet, sweet husband â" She whispered and heard him draw in the air loudly, surprised, his erection pulsed hard between her thighs.
She licked her lips, wondering if he was aroused by what he was hearing.
"â my husband is so good to me â" She gasped softly, letting their lips join in hot, sticky, lazy kisses, making wonderful heat surge through her body. "â my sweet friend â my sweet boy â"
She shuddered as his fingers tightened on the material of her gown, his throat leaving a sound she had never heard before.
He moaned.
Not the way he usually did, low and deep, when it was on the verge of panting, but high, the way she did when he gave her sweet pleasure.
Their fingers tightened on their bodies, letting their mouths find each other in greedy, violent, deep kisses â his cock between her thighs swelled all over and pulsed, hot, betraying that he was now completely ready to possess her.
"â I love you â please â" He muttered, forcibly ripping her gown off her shoulders, exposing her naked breasts, all swollen with milk. Something like a sigh of delight and relief left his throat as he sank his face into her sternum, his thumbs stroking and teasing her nipples hard from the cold.
She moaned as she tilted her head back, untying the material of his breeches, feeling the wonderful, pleasurable wetness between her thighs, proving that she was ready to receive him deep inside her.
"â my sweet husband deserve to be soothed â doesn't he? â to feel his beloved wife â how warm she is â how wet she is â" She whispered, cupping his swollen, quivering erection in her palm, feeling how incredibly hard it was, its tip thick and smooth, dripping with his moisture.
"â yes â" He mumbled in shame, directing one of her breasts to his face, holding it in his hand, finding her nipple with his mouth, beginning to suck it loudly along with her milk as she guided the head of his cock against her pulsing slit.
"â ah â my husband is so hard for me â makes me feel so fucking good â so, so big â" She cooed, sinking slowly onto his manhood only to lift herself on it with a loud click of her wetness, opening her thirsty, fleshy cunt again and again on his long, throbbing erection.
"â f-fuck â" He exhaled, embarrassed, imposing a fast, aggressive pace on her at once, clearly aroused by what she was saying and how she was behaving, needing her affection, her acceptance, her closeness, everything he couldn't ask of anyone else outside the door of their chamber.
"â it's all yours, my dearest â I can ride you all night â you'll fill me with your seed as many times as I need, won't you? â" She gasped, and he groaned loudly into the skin of her breasts, clamping his hot hands on her hips, pounding into her like there was no tomorrow, panting and quivering along with her.
She wasn't sure she had ever experienced a similar orgasm, so overpowering, hot, soothing, delightful.
"â f-fuck â f-fuck, Aemond, yes â" She whimpered, throwing her head back as she felt his body convulse, his warm seed filling her womb wit his low moans of pleasure.
He released her nipple from his mouth, panting heavily, snuggling his cheek into her chest, letting her arms embrace him in a tight grip, her lips placing tender, hot kisses on his hair.
"â forgive me â I'm ashamed â I â"
"â you are my husband â let me give you relief when you need it â" She whispered, combing her fingers through his long hair.
"â but â it was â"
"â a husband can show tenderness and understanding to his wife, but a wife to her husband cannot? â" She asked in pain, and he swallowed hard, letting out a loud, shuddering breath.
"â it won't happen again â" He muttered, needing, apparently, for her to tell that lie so he could stop thinking about how weak he was, how he needed it, how pleasant it was.
That he would beg in his mind for more.
More of her tenderness.
More of her praise.
More of her love.
"â as you wish â"

When the Night Turns
Description: The night before your husband leaves for battle, he tells you of his aspirations for the throne. You in turn confess your fears.
âI spoke with Cole, told him it is time for someone better to sit on the Iron Throne, and that will be me. Obviously.â Aemond says, his head resting on your thigh, his silver hair splayed out against the light blue fabric of your nightshift.
You say nothing, only continue combing your fingers through his hair. To speak in agreement with him would be treason, to speak against him would be your undoing.
âThat this is where my reign begins.â He continues, the one arm around your waist tightening as he looks up at you, expectant.
You know what he desires, but you cannot give it to him, not here where Aegon is still King, where you do not have a dragon or an army of your own to keep you safe from accusations of treachery. Not when it is so clear that Aemond had no qualms about directing his anger at those closest to him, you cannot count on him or his dragon.
So, you choose the safe route. âHere, My Prince? I am no strategist, but I cannot say I believe my chambers to be the most effective place for anyone to begin their reign.â
Aemond hums in response, his good eye closed, his sapphire one glinting in the low candlelight.
You bite the inside of your cheek, stomach churning as you digest Aemondâs words. Of course, you believe him better suited for the throne butâŠ
âI can sense the wheels in your mind turning issa prumia, speak, let your king ease your mind.â His voice still has that low, smooth tone to it, a gentleness to his words that you remember from when he said his vows, in the Great Sept. He promised that you were his, and he was yours, that none shall tear you asunder.
You smooth your thumb across his forehead, admiring the shadows his eyelashes cast upon his cheeks. âI wish you would take more care with your words. Your brother is the rightful king; it is what this war is all about, and I do not wish to see another conflict spring up when all of your focus should be on defeating the false queen.â
âAnd her craven of a husband.â Aemond says, unable to let any mention of his uncle go unsaid.
You nod, though he cannot see, and caress the curve of his cheek, fear flicking in your chest. âYes, and that butcher.â
You shiver at the memory of the screams, of the rage and grief that echoed through the Keep after Jaehaerysâ death.
Aemondâs grip tightens on you once more, there is no need to speak, the consequences of Blood and Cheeseâs actions weigh heavily on him, and you. They had been tasked with killing Aemond, but could not find him, Daemon did not know you and Aemond kept separate chambers, did not know your husband spent half his nights in your bed the other half in his own.
If they had not come upon Helaena first, if they had gone a few rooms down and found your chambers it may have ended differently, Aemond would have been able to stop themâŠ
âI will not mourn when the Stranger comes for Daemon Targaryen.â You cannot keep the venom from your voice, even as flames of fear begin to climb once more within you.
Your hand must have stilled because Aemond brings it to his lips, his gaze meeting yours.
His amethyst eye is alight, a smug smile on his lips. âI will defeat them, I will win this war, and the realm shall have a king worthy of the throne. Rhaenyra and Daemonâs heads shall adorn the gates, and I shall decorate the Great Hall with their dragonsâ skulls.â
You pull your hand away, your throat tight as the smoke from the flames of fear in your chest rise up and choke you.
Aemond follows, sitting up and taking your face in his hands, his eye inspecting every inch, his expression changed, softer, more attentive. âI am sorry, I should not speak of such things to you, they are far too gruesome for your ears.â
âI am afraid, Aemond.â You whisper, your hands coming to grasp his wrists, clinging to him. You know Vhagar is strong, that Aemond is smart, but you cannot help but be afraid, afraid that his pride will be his undoing.
âDo not be. Have faith in me, in Vhagar, in Cole. We are blessed, guided by the Seven.â He says, his long, lithe fingers threading into your hair, massaging the nape of your neck.
âI do, but I do not fear for you at Rookâs Rest, I fear that you willââ You cut yourself off, you cannot tell him you fear his pride will drive him to act foolishly, you are not the Dowager Queen, you cannot speak your mind so freely. âYou are right. I will have faith.â
Aemondâs grip on you tightens, his gaze hardening. âSpeak, y/n.â
You cast your eyes downwards, your voice soft. âI fear that you will be blinded by your ambition, that your pride will doom you.â
Aemond releases you with a sigh, and slips from your bed, his back to you as he gathers his things. âI expected such words from my mother. Perhaps you have spent too much time with one another.â
You follow after him, the stone floor cold against your bare feet. âI do not wish to lose you.â
He turns on his heel, eye patch in hand. âSo, you think to insult me? To all but imply you do not believe I will be able to accomplish our goals, to win this war, and rule the realm?â
You take his hands in yours and press them to your heart, hoping he can feel how fervently it beats, how it beats for him, as it has since the day you met. âYou asked me to speak, My King, to let you ease my mind. I did as you asked because I could not bear it if I did not speak, and you were lost to me because of the very thing I wished to warn you of.â
Your use of My King has softened him, if only a little, and he inclines his head towards you. âYou think me prideful, issa prumia?â
âI think you a great man, with the largest dragon in the realm, but you are also a man who comes from hurt, whose family has been hurt.â You say carefully, as you keep a tight grip on his hands. âYour pain is real, and deserves recompense, but not at the risk of your life.â
Aemondâs eye flickers to the burning hearth, and you know you have reached him.
âPromise me, swear to me that if Daemon comes, however foolish it may be, no matter that you think he will not, promise me that you will use the aid of others to defeat him. Let that butcher gloat and preen, let him act as if he is the conqueror reborn, for we know he is a fool. And fools always reveal their weaknesses in time.â
Aemond slips his hands from yours and there is an ache in your chest, but he soothes it quickly, when he presses his lips to yours softly, his hand coming to cradle your cheek, the other settling on your waist. âMy little wife, how clever you are.â
You lean into his touch, your own hands anchoring themselves in his tunic. âI must be, for how can I be the wife of King Aemond the first, if I am not?â
He smiles at your words, and pulls you flush against him. âI will have the servants move your things to my chambers, I want to return from battle to find my wife safe in my bed.â
Your heart leaps, when you first married you had hoped that you and Aemond would share chambers as your mother and father did, but he had shown little interest in the idea. In truth, it had served you and him well on that bloody night, but those routes in had been sealed, and his chambers were checked for other secret doors. It had been declared safe and for more than one reason now you could not be happier.
âYou will find no argument from me, though I will need prior notice if you wish me to wear anything particular for your return.â Your voice takes on a jesting tone, though your words are true, and the way Aemondâs lips drift downwards, ghosting over the skin of your neck, tells you he hears them well.
âI have no preference, provided it is easily replaced.â
You let out a shaky breath, your eyes fluttering closed as Aemondâs lips find your pulse point. âEasily replaced?â
âHow fond are you of this nightshift?â He asks in lieu of answering your question.
âI think it is pretty, but it is not my best one, I did not know you would be visiting me, so I did not have time to prepaââ The sound of fabric ripping accompanied by the clatter of a dagger against the stone floor and the cool air on your skin silences you.
Aemond hums appreciatively, his eye drinking in your form as he walks you backwards towards your bed. âThis is why it must be easily replaceable; I cannot attest to the patience I will have when I return.â

âI can do it myself, you know.â He murmurs, his gaze meeting hers in the mirror. Sheâs quiet for a few moments after, her hands moving skillfully to distribute the oil along his silver hair. âI know you can. But I enjoy it.â Aemond couldnât argue with that. Seated obediently at her vanity, allowing her to take her time doing his hair after their bath, he sat patiently and topless. On occasion, her fingers brushed against the lean muscles of his back, pretending it was an accident. He loved when she did that. His hair was still fairly damp under her touchâthe comb gliding through the strands with ease. âWould you like for me to braid it?â She hums.
He thought about it for a moment, his eye taking in the sight of his angular face in the mirror, bare and visible with his blonde tresses combed back. There was a hint of anxiety brewing in his chest. â...Do you think it would suit me?â She seemed a bit surprised by his question, but answered in an instant. âOf course. You look handsome in everything, husband.â The corner of his lip quirked up at that. âYouâre biased. Because weâre married.â
âI am not.â She laughs, leaning over his shoulder to look at him. âI am not. Have you ever considered that you're simply perfect?" He scoffs, a quiet sound that holds no malice and only the vulnerability of a scarred man. "Hardly, ÄbrazÈłrys." His wife tuts at the dismissal, hands coming around to rub along his chestâa soothing motion she'd done since they'd gotten married. Her gaze meets his sapphire one, undeterred by the scar. It had taken him months to remove his eyepatch in front of her, and even longer to let her touch it. "You're perfect, Aemond. Regardless of what you believe, you're whole and deserving of my affections. Nothing will change that. Come on. Repeat it."
Despite the quiet sigh that flows past his lips, he pulls her into his lap, wrapping his arms around her comfortably. There was a low rumble of appreciation from him as he nudged his nose against her shoulder. "I am deserving. Happy?" She rolled her eyes at his lackadaisical attempt, but she was pleased enough that he'd said it. "Very. I love you, husband. All I want is for you to love yourself. No matter what people at court whisper. Because...?" She waits for a different answer this time, one they loved to practice when they were alone. "Because I'm married to the most beautiful woman in Westeros." He hums, gently taking her chin in his fingers to press a warm kiss against her mouth.

Taking a bath together
Aemond Targaryen x Wife!Reader
No warnings - just fluff
I just want him to feel loved and happy, okay?? ;_: He is a sweetie pie even if he does a little killing sometimes.
The warm water of the bath enveloped you both, steam rising and curling in the quiet air of the chamber, scented with the subtle hint of lavender from the bath oils. The large, marble tub was a luxurious expanse, allowing comfortable space for the both of you, a private sanctum isolated from the rest of the world and its demands. You and your husband, Aemond, preferred bathing alone and without any servants to assist you.
Warm water sloshed about as you cleaned your his silky pale silver hair. With Aemond sitting between your legs, his head tilted back slightly to let you have access to his hair, his guard was lowered in a way few ever saw. The absence of his eyepatch revealed the vulnerable side of a man typically known for his strength and intimidating presence, highlighting a rare intimacy shared between you alone. He was always gentle and sweet towards you, so different from how he came off to the courts and the world.
As you lathered his hair with soap, your fingers massaged his scalp, the action caring and methodical. Your voice, a gentle murmur, broke the silence, carrying affection and genuine admiration. "Your hair is so lovely, my sweet..."
Aemond's muscles, which so often held tension and readiness for combat, relaxed under your touch. The prince, the warrior, the brooding Targaryenâthose identities faded into the background as he simply became a man at peace, indulging in the rare luxury of being cared for. You wanted to do your utmost to make sure he felt loved and cared for, and it seemed like it was taking effect.
"Your touch is as soothing as the Maiden's song," he replied, his voice a low hum that vibrated against your skin. A soft sigh escaped him, a sound of utter contentment that filled the space between you with a resonance more articulate than words could ever be.
Your tone took on a playful edge, teasing him gently while simultaneously offering praise, a balance that spoke to the depth of your relationship. "My, how poetic you are~ What have you been reading?" you inquired, the smile audible in your voice, a gentle prod at his scholarly habits.
Aemond leaned back further into you, the warm water and your closeness lulling him into a state of tranquility he found nowhere else. "A collection of verses from old Valyria," he admitted, a hint of sheepishness in his voice, revealing that even a prince could have his indulgences. "Thereâs a beauty in the old words, a power and grace that I find... comforting."
His hand rose to meet yours, fingers intertwining as he held your hand against his chest, a silent expression of gratitude for your teasing, your care, and everything you did to make him feel loved and at ease. Your laughter and light-hearted queries were as much a part of his reprieve as the soothing waters that enveloped him.
Aemond rested back against you, the solid warmth of his body pressed into the softness of your form, an intimate juxtaposition of strength and tenderness. With careful affection, you bent forward to press a kiss to the sapphire that sat in place of his missing eye, a gesture of acceptance and reverence for all that he was, imperfections included.
"Very good, my prince... You read such varied books and texts. Poetry is just as valuable as history," you murmured into the steam-kissed air. "Your diligent reading shall temper your mind into that of a great ruler." Through your words, you offered not just praise but a recognition of his efforts to grow beyond the warrior the world often mistook him for.
He could feel the vibration of your voice against his back as you spoke, the underlying message clear: he was valued not only for his title and the power he wielded, but for the depth of his intellect and character. A soft, pleased little "hmm" noise escaped him, a sound that held within it both gratitude and a burgeoning sense of pride.
Aemond turned his head slightly, trying to catch a glimpse of your face from over his shoulder, his good eye searching for yours. "With you by my side, I have no doubt of what I might become," he said earnestly, his voice steady and sure as the pull of the tide. "You see in me the king I am yet to be, and for that vision, I am eternally grateful." He had a soft smile and a devoted look in his eye.
As Aemondâs gaze met yours, searching and sincere, you leaned in to close the distance between you, your lips meeting his in a gentle, loving kiss. It was a simple act, yet it spoke volumesâthe touch of your mouth against his was a seal to the promise of your words, a silent reassurance of your faith in him.
The softness of the kiss, coupled with the intimacy of the moment, pulled a reaction from him that was both rare and endearing. His cheeks flushed with a rosy hue, the blush spreading across his fair skin. Even a man of Aemond Targaryen's stature, for all his fierce reputation, was not immune to the tender affections of the one he loved, especially not when delivered so unexpectedly and with such genuine emotion.

MASTERLIST | English is not my first language
This is more than tempting the Gods. This is forsaking and impudently turning their backs on them.
As she sits down at the banquet, her motherâs words echo through her mind like the vexing sound of the wind on a stormâs night. It sets an unpleasant weight on her lungs, the close and yet shapeless feel of something dreadful. Sheâs almost grateful, looking around, to ascertain sheâs not the only fool dreading this whole act.
The Dowager Queen sits at the table, barely able to contain a grimace. Queen Helaena, she is certain, has never looked so pale, her eyes so vacuous and yet so full of something unknown, elusive, smoke clouding and clearing her unnatural stare. The Hand has conveniently made himself absent. She canât blame him. Actually, she envies him. If only she too could have been spared such a farce. But as the wife of the Kingâs brother, the very one theyâre all supposed to celebrate tonight, she cannot do that, can she?
To cheers and the blaring of trumpets, the King enters shoulder to shoulder with his brother, tall and proud in his stride, wearing dark green velvet for such a special occasion, and such a special title.
âDo you know how theyâre going to call you from now on?â the Queen Mother had asked when he came back from Stormâs end, dripping rain and mud and war.
âI do, Mother.â Aegon had answered, twisting a knife from his seat at the head of the table; she had never caught that glint of satisfaction in his eyes, not like that; it wasnât dimmed by wine or flesh, but sharp as the blade in his hand. âA title he should be proud of.â
Pride was ever the easiest thing to wear for Aemond, the softest glove gliding on his skin, born out of a pit so deep and full of insecurities and negligence that that same endless depth had grown out of proportion in order to fill itself. To even try scratching his pride was like trying to climb the highest mountain with bare hands. She had cut her palms open to do so.
âWhat happened, Aemond?â she had asked once alone in their chambers.
âYou know what happened.â
âWhat really happened?â
His good eye had pierced her as if she were made of crystal, but his jaw was too set, on the verge of breaking his own teeth if he carried on keeping the guilt, and truth, trapped inside.
âI didnât want to.â He whispered, coming down from the peak, âI didnât want to kill him. I only wantedââ
âRevenge? Well, you had it. Did it make you feel good? Did you bring that boy peace at last?â
It took him a lifetime to say no; a whispered sound, choked even, as if he had bitten off his tongue to get it out of that pit where he had never looked again.
He was biting his tongue in the council, the faintest clench in his jaw but here, here in the council, here in the world, he had to keep that pit buried and stand straight on the highest peak, looking up and up, never down, never back. How could he, how could he admit he had lost control. It was easier, safer, to let them think of him a monster, rather than just human.
âI salute you, brother.â The King had said, raising his cup âTrue blood of the dragon! We shall have a feast in your honor!" Otto had merely lowered his head in defiance, going unnoticed in the eyes of his King and grandson, drunk with power and finally free of his mother's leash, unaware that a golden noose now held him in check.
He had summoned jesters, musicians, even some dancers to coddle his brother, and raise him higher and higher. She imagined she just had to wait for the fall. Or perhaps pray to the Seven to overlook the insult, to keep a mortal up there with them for a little more. But then again, they shouldnât ask the Gods for mercy. Someone more unforgiving, more bloodthirsty. Someone who, just as her husband and his brother and each one of their cursed dynasty, did not listen to either Gods or men.
âA toast!â the King says at one point, turning to his left. âTo my brother Aemond and a long overdue justice, is it not?â
Out of courtesy and duty, she grabs her cup and raises it, but as everyone at the table sips their wine, all she tastes is contempt, and the cup hits the surface untouched. But not unseen.
âBrother, wine may cloud my judgment, but it seems to me that your beloved wife does not share the sentiment of this fine evening. I wonder why.â
She holds the Kingâs demanding stare with a firm one, aware of Aemond looking at her even if his eye is fixed on the table. He has ignored her for the whole night, not sparing her a single glance. Because she owns the truth, doesnât she, and itâs a knife pointed at his back. Â
âMay I speak my mind, your Grace?â
Thereâs the slightest shift in Alicentâs posture, as if she were desperately waiting for her, or anyone, to cease all of this, to say this isnât right.
Aegon pulls a thin, lazy smile and tilts his silver head, swirling his cup. âWhy, of course, Princess. My brother tells me you have a habit of doing so.â
âDid he, now?â she resists the urge to scoff; such a despicable habit for a woman in this world.
âFret not, good sister, Iâm certain he holds no grudges against you for your silver tongue.â
âOh, Iâm quite certain too, your Grace. I know for a fact that he likes it.â
A few lords can do very little to hold their snickering, Aegon himself does not hide his malicious smirk, petty at the edges. It must run in the blood.
âCareful though, you donât want to spend too much time talking, lest you leave my poor brother without any heir! Itâs been a while since you two lovebirds tied the knot, isnât that right?â
She glances beside her, surely Aemond wonât let that slight insult pass, but he stays still and silent like a statue. She canât quite believe what sheâs witnessing. This is the same man who would call the crowned head at the table wastrel, depraved, disgrace.
So much for a disgrace, now that he fosters your pride and lies.
âI can assure you, good brother, that the talking is well outweighed by other activities that involve very few words.â
Aegon plasters a big grin on his face, yet sheâs not finished. âBut perhaps the Gods are sparing me the burden of bringing a child in such troubled times. A realm at war is not the best place to live in, is it not?â
âIt depends on which side youâre on, Princess.â
Thereâs suspicion in his tone, but she just blinks at him. âMy apologies, I was not aware that my loyalty to your House, and my husbandâs, was to be questioned.â
âCome now. We are bound by what if not words?â
âI was under the impression that the Crown should fear his own kin more than a simple foreign girl from the West.â
At that, Helaena lets out a strange noise, something close to a wince, and silence falls all over. It is only now that Aemond undoes the stone he walled himself in and acts as he always does when he feels belittled, or worse, threatened. He shuts her out.
âIâm afraid my wife is growing tired, brother. âTis best for her to retire.â
She bites her tongue and turns her head. Thereâs no mistake in his tone, that is an order. She stares at him and he stares back, blankly, and then, just as it is expected of her, she obeys.
She goes without saying a word, aware of Aemondâs eye on her, of Aegonâs little victorious giggle. He snaps his fingers and two dancing girls flock to his brother. She knows this because she canât resist but turning before disappearing. The girls are said to come from Lys, no less. But heâs not sparing them a single glance. His eye follows her out of the hall, and even after.
Candles almost extinguished, casting a soft glow in the bedchamber, dim but enough to make the shape of her body visible under the covers.
âI know youâre pretending to be asleep.â He says, placing his dagger and eyepatch on the nightstand.
She doesnât bother to wait a single moment to fly her eyes open. âWas I not supposed to pretend I was tired?â
When she gets no answer, she turns to face him, finding him on his feet near the bed, undoing the buttons of his doublet. His eye is on her, though, wide, as someone ready to hunt but seeing traps everywhere.
âDid you enjoy your feast?â she asks with piqued interest. âSuch a shame that I missed most of it. I was eager to watch the girls from Lys dance. How were they?â
âEnough. You should thank me for dismissing you. You were bordering on high treason.â
âSince when telling the truth is considered high treason?â
âIs that what you were going to say? The truth? To make me look like a fool in front of the whole court?â
âI was only going to say that the feast was an insult and a challenge to the Gods or any common sense. And I know that beneath all the pats on the shoulder and the endorsement on your brotherâs part, you are of the same mind.â she hopes to see the barest glimpse of validation on his face, at least here, where he can leave behind his pride and admit he made a mistake. Is that what you call starting a war?
But his expression is as closed as ever, wary.
She wishes it would hurt less than it does. âOf all the people ready to betray you, how quick you are to assume Iâd be the first.â
âWeâre bound by words, are we not?â
âTake your brother off your mouth.â She says absentmindedly; she tries to not let it sting, but it does anyway. It is a low blow, and she knows he does not believe it. He has raised the walls, coiling like a snake, and thereâs no point trying to climb and risk cracking her skull open on the ground. She will have to wait for him to come down. âThen perhaps I should consider my fatherâs proposal.â
She leaves the bed and grabs a letter lying open on the desk. âHe wrote me this letter. That is why my mother came all the way here, apparently to see how her daughter was faring.â
Aemond eyes it with the barest twitch in his lips, then looks up into her eyes and, with a sigh, she clears her throat.
âMy dearest daughter,
It is with great concern and sadness that I write you this letter.
Words have reached me about the recent events involving Stormâs End and young Prince Lucerysâ demise. My spirits are low when thinking of the fate youâre enduring. But I want you to think carefully of this: annulments are rare but possible. Even more so since you bore no heirs yet. You cannot remain married to a Kinslayer, it is the highest of sins. I only need a word from you, daughter, and I shall hastily consult with a High Septon.â
She can barely register his arm moving, only sees his hand snatching the letter out of her grip, crumpling the paper between his fingers. Nostrils flaring, eye widening, she reads insult all over his face. About time.
âIs that it, Aemond? Is that the reason youâd think I would betray you? Because I didnât bleed on a birthing bed yet? Is that how you measure my loyalty? What of all the times I drew your bath, washed your hair, pulled the boots off your feet? What about that curtainââ she adds, pointing to the windows âand the fact that I told the maid to keep that side always closed so the sun will not bother your eye? Do you think I did all of this because of some empty words?â
He looks as if she has just slapped him. Mistrust and bewilderment run together all over his sharp features, trying to win one another, and she waits and waits, and she begs as all the purest things must be pleaded, wordlessly.
Come down. Come down. Lay down with me. In our bed, a grave, it matters not. I'll take the shovel and do the burying.
But he stands still on his high and cursed perch, the grip on the letter loosens, his shoulders slump a little, because this, this comes so easily. Violence. Itâs the other glove he wears like second skin.
âYou will write to your father and tell him if I hear another word about annulments, I will have his head for treason. And as for you⊠you tell a living soul what you know, and you shall join the Silent Sisters. You wonât even have to vow your silence, for I shall take your sharp tongue first.â
She watches him go, standing in the middle of the room like a fool; her hands bleeding still and a plea, unheard, choking to death in her chest.
Her hands heal, stay whole for so long. She feels she cannot reach him this time, no matter how hard she tries to climb. She finds no footholds, no inlets, until she stops looking for any.
She finds she has no strength to do it anymore. Theyâre all dead anyway, each of them in their own way, their own burial.
The king drinks and rages and drinks and rages. Helaena rocks on herself all day long, chasing the highs and lows of her laments. Jaehaera stares at her mother with her small lips sewn, her eyes wide and the Queen Mother weeps and weeps, wondering if the little girl is watching her mother go mad with grief or yet again her twin brotherâs head rolling on the ground like one of her toys.
And AemondâŠshe does not know where Aemond chose to bury himself. He spends the day out, trying to escape the smothering grip of the Strangerâs claws, his curseâŠor is it only retribution?
Sometimes heâs in the training yard, sometimes that same yard becomes theater for revenge. He kills whoever helped Blood and Cheese enter the Keep, man or woman, he doesnât care. He tortures them, and she wants to beg him to stop, to tell him that torturing one, two, or one hundred men wonât stop guilt from torturing him.
So, he wanders restlessly, basks in small and big cruelties, until the sun sets and sheâs aware, as the bed dips under his weight, that she is his own burial. He takes her at any time, in any place, be it the bed, the desk, or bent over the vanity, she cannot do anything to stop him. She doesnât want to and yet she aches to do it. Because itâs always sudden, and harsh and hurtful when he pulls her hair, when he spares no time to stoke her desire, when he keeps her bent with her back turned and a firm hand on her neck like some kind of punishment.
It never used to be like this. It had been playful, teasing, painfully slow as if he were separating salt from water, and then fast, urgent, unraveling for two inexperienced newlyweds.
But it had never been like that. There was no joy in it. Only a duty to be fulfilled. Some twisted way to gain control, while anyone else kept slipping from his hands. Just as Vhagar slipped out of his control on that fateful night of storm.
He remembered that dark thrill pounding in his veins, the laughter gushing out of his throat like poison. He couldnât bring himself to stop. He didnât know whether Vhagar was fueling his fire or the other way around, perhaps both. Just a little more, heâd thought, as Arrax batted his wings frantically, desperate, mirroring his young rider, to escape the gaping jaws of the Queen of All Dragons.
Thatâs what he wanted. He wanted to relish in his nephewâs dread, he wanted to drink it. He wanted him alone, desperate, hopeless, just as he had been.
And then he felt it, the shift in the ancient fire pit he was riding, like a boat tipping over and there was no helm to grab onto and bring it back to land. He had sunk his own family into the bleak abyss of Daemon Targaryenâs soul.
He had come to collect, thoroughly. A son for a son, yes, but he had taken much more than Jaehaerys. Heâd taken Helaena as well. Even Jaehaera.
Will she ever be able to speak again?
Will my Mother ever forgive me?
Words never spoken, stuck on his tongue and then gagged and swallowed. He cannot look down, cannot look back. He must look up and forward, like soldiers do. To the next battle, to war.
But thereâs this woman. And the sight of her in his bed that makes his breath hitch and for two reasons entirely opposite to one another. The first is the most ancient one. But sheâs also a thorn in his side, for she knows. She knows everything. She knows all his peaks and depths, every brick in his walls and how to dismantle them; she knows heâs strong and weak, that heâs scared and guilty and worthy of his motherâs contempt, but he cannot bear any of this in front of her.
He flees her presence during the day, only to impose himself on her for the whole night. She cannot refuse him. And he cannot have her prying and dismantling his well-crafted walls and lies, so he takes her and takes her and takes her until he works themselves up to exhaustion and sheâs a rag doll in his hands. It serves the purpose, though. As long as she has his cock in her mouth, as long as he harshly pounds into her, cutting her breath from the inside, she cannot ask questions. As long as he keeps chasing his pleasure, and his rugged breaths muffle his own ears, he cannot think straight. Â
He's close now and itâs the second time already. The sheets are damp beneath their bodies, his back glints with sweat, damps his forehead as he thrusts inside her one more time. Theyâre lying on their side, but he keeps her caged against him, his arm has slipped on the mattress and under her neck to keep her still, with her back to him. With his cheek glued to hers, he croons praises in her ear, falling mindlessly from his lips but like drops in the ocean. Once, she would redden, smile blissfully, or challenge him, to go deeper, or harder, or both, but sheâs a limp thing now. A mere body panting upon being fucked by another, thatâs all.
This is possession. Or a desperate attempt to. Each night, he holds her as if itâs the last time and she could slip away from him at any moment, turning her back on him. She can feel it now, in the way heâs gripping her shoulder, the way his nails dig in her skin, carving into her bones: stay with me. Please. Donât leave. Please, donât leave.
But itâs him keeping her away, turning her own back on him.
Donât you know, she wishes to tell him, that I wonât, ever. I wonât. No matter how cursed you are. I wonât. I wonât.
He grabs her thigh, resting it on his hip, spreading his long fingers on her skin, spreading her legs so he can find the perfect angle and picks up the pace. She shudders with every thrust, gasping with her throat dry, feeling the long bridge of his nose sinking in her cheek, his grunts growing rougher and deeper; some strange choked sound at the back of his throat.
He comes quietly, panting shallowly against the damp fabric of her nightgown. And he stays there, claw gripping her shoulder, head sunk between her neck and collarbone, and deep to the hilt buried in her.
A tear rolls down her cheek. She doesnât know where it comes from, who she is mourning, she canât tell these days. Perhaps sheâs mourning him, who he was, who he is now and who he is forcing himself to be. She doesnât know where the deception lies anymore. She wishes she could push it back in, prays that it goes unnoticed, swallowed along with all the others, but she should know by now, the Gods are not in her favor anymore, if they ever had been.
âWhy are you crying?â
She turns her head, and her breath hitches. The gemstone glints, yes, but sheâs too struck by his eye to even notice the sapphire. Thereâs something raw there, bare, more than his very skin now. Itâs the first time she sees that look on him, torn, heavy lidded and not by pleasure.
This is the burden of grief.
She wonders if thatâs the reason heâs so keen on fucking her with her back turned, so she canât see him. Perhaps she didnât look hard enough. She thought he had risen too high, out of her reach, of anyoneâs. She thought he would never fall, not in every sense of the word.
Hence, sheâs at a loss for words, slightly pulling herself up, when he slowly comes down; he curls into himself, into her lap, resting his head there like a child. No Kinslayer, no Dragon Prince, no son, no brother. No husband. Just a human, bare in the skin and soul.
Aemond wraps his hand around her knee, gently, and then tighter and tighter, shutting his eye. Heâs on land now, but the room is spinning, the whole world is spinning and he doesnât know how to stop it. He feels he started it all, he threw a spinning top and got sucked into it. And sheâs the only firm thing he can hold onto.
âDo you think Iâm cursed?â he whispers, the barest flutter of his long eyelashes against his cheekbone.
But she has no answer. All she has are her hands, sliding on his naked skin, through his loose hair, gently, as if touching the thinnest glass, sealing the cracks. Her palms slice open again. Â
âArenât we all?â
And I dream of a grave, deep and narrow, where we could clasp each other in our arms as with clamps, and I would hide my face in you and you would hide your face in me, and nobody would ever see us any more."
- The Castle, Franz Kafka.

when your husband aemond wants physical affection, he comes to YOUR chambers.
sex is not the first or the only thing he asks for, aemond just really wants your full undivided attention. after an exhaustingly long day of managing affairs and telling people what to do, all he wants is for his sweet beloved wife to take care of him, starting with removing his clothes and taking a hot aromatic bath.
aemond always prefers it when you undress him, as you are gentle with your touch and you take extra precaution when removing his eye-patch. the prince regent finds a degree of comfort in you he hasnât felt since he was a boy at driftmark.
when he is feeling extra needy, aemond will insist that you join him in the bathtub yourself, he loves to have you on his lap and chest-to-chest with him so close and intimate.
and when you eventually begin to ride him, he simply canât stop gawking at how radiant you look under the flickering candlelights. he is completely mesmerized not only by your dornish beauty, but also by your affectionate nature and how well you understand him. it makes him cum that much faster when you ride him like this.
alternatively, when a bath is not involved, aemond will stand at your doorway with his hands clasped behind his back until you make the first move beckoning him over to your bed.
when the prince regent is feeling particularly sore after riding vhagar, you give him a deep tissue back massage, using some hot oil, usually eucalyptus and jasmine rubbed between your fingers to soften his tense muscles and relieve any back knots.
âŠ..after that? itâs all fair game đźâđšđŠđ

By your side (Aemond x wife reader)
I haven't written anything in a while but of course I had to write something inspired by that gif (it's a little different in the fic though). This was written quickly, feel free to point out any mistakes, I just had to get this little thing out.
Summary: Aemond is in need of comfort and reassurance and his wife is there for him.
Word count: +1240
Warning: none, this is just some angsty fluff
***
All my fics are also on AO3
***
You found him in his favorite spot, his comfortable chair by the fireplace, where he loved to read at the end of a long day or have a drink to forget about his worries before going to bed. Tonight was the latter, minus the drink.
He had barely greeted you when you walked in, in fact he barely looked up. Not even when you had taken off your coat and revealed your favorite green night gown, the one Aemond loved the most. His lack of attention for you was enough to tell you your husband was preoccupied and distracted.
âCouncil didnât go as you had hoped?â
Aemond was quiet for a while and you didnât push, allowing him time to resurface from wherever his mind was right now. It took a few minutes before he answered, his voice weak. âThey laughed.â
You turned to look at him but Aemond didnât meet your gaze.
âEvery time I tried to bring up these undeniably pressing matters they just laughed at me. They are fools, all of them.â
You sat down on the side of the bed, facing the fireplace and him. He was down to his undergarments, his leather discarded on the floor, his eye patch on the bedside table and his hair loose, framing his long face. He looked more vulnerable than ever in the dim light of the fire and your heart bled for him.
âWar is imminent and they just choose to ignore it, am I the only one with common sense in this entire bloody realm?â
He tried to raise his voice but it came out more broken than before.
You didnât speak, instead you rose from the bed and walked over towards his chair. Not wasting any more time you took your rightful spot in Aemondâs lap, your hand cupping his cheek gently, bringing him back down to the warmth and solitude of the room instead of his loud, intruding thoughts.
Finally he looked up to meet your eyes, his hands coming to rest on your hips, his good eye was clouded with emotions.
To the outside world Aemond seemed calm and stern, always in control and always confident. But anyone who truly knew him, knew better than that and you had gotten to know him a whole lot better than anyone else during your two years of marriage.
Your husband was stubborn, protective, kind or cold depending on who he was dealing with. A warrior and a scared boy all in one. The smartest dumbass you had ever met. His beauty still amazed you every single day and his devotion to you was unlike anything you had ever dared to hope for or dream of in a husband.Â
But there was an undeniable dark side to him as well. Aemond held so much unresolved anger in him, always right there under the surface. Ever since Lucerys, and even before that, Aemond was a ticking time bomb waiting to go off and you were never not aware of it.Â
Despite that he had been nothing but kind and loving to you and you had never felt any kind of fear in his presence. On the contrary, the longer you had been married to him the softer he had become with you.
He closed his good eye and pressed his cheek into your hand, letting out the breath heâd been holding all day. Your comforting touch gave him the much needed solace he couldnât find anywhere else. Your hands moved to caress his hair and his cheek, pulling more soft sighs from him. You didnât have the words to heal all his wounds but you knew Aemond didnât need them at this time. All he needed was your comfort, your loyalty and love.
You placed a gentle kiss on his forehead and felt him pull you deeper into his lap. You followed willingly, as you always did with Aemond.
You both sat in silence for a while until finally he spoke again.âWhen they laughedâŠI was right there again, that little kid who everybody hated and ignoredâŠ.he had the entire world against him but he was so brave.â
âYou are still brave, Aemond,â you whispered, caressing his long silver hair.
âAnd Iâm still hated and ignored,â he added with a sigh.
âI donât hate you, and I would never ignore you, my sweet husband,â your lips curled up into what you hoped was an encouraging smile and much to your relief Aemond responded, although it was weak the little hint of affection in his eyes was a clear sign his anger was already fading.
He leaned in to place the softest, lingering kiss on your lips making your heart flutter.
âI am not deserving of any of this,â he then whispered.
âWhat do you mean any of this?â
âYou,â he breathed,â I am not deserving of you.â
You cupped his face with both hands, forcing him to look at you,âI chose you. Have you forgotten that? Iâve gotten plenty of other offers but I only wanted you, Aemond.â
âYou chose me beforeâŠbefore IâŠâ
âI would still choose you today,â you reassured him and Aemond looked at you with surprise and a hint of tears in his eye.
âYou would, wouldnât you?â he realized,âEven afterâŠwhat Iâve done.â
âWhat youâve done isnât worse than what half the men in Westeros have done.â
You hesitated for a moment.
âI know weâre on the verge of war and youâll have to do much worse things than that,â you then added,âI am not naive, Aemond, I know the dark world we live in and I know whatâs ahead of us but...it does not change how I feel about you.â
His eye seemed to be locked on yours now, looking at you in awe as a tear ran down his cheek but it wasnât one of sadness this time.
âYou will be by my side, through all of it,â he realized again, even though his words sounded like a question.
âOf course. I have sworn my loyalty to you, my prince, I do not take such things lightly.â
Aemond nodded at your official choice of words and you quickly added,âBesides that IâŠI love you. No matter what happened in the past or what the future may throw at us, I am on your side, husband, always.â
You gently wiped the tears from his cheek and Aemond breathed a sigh of relief.âAvy jorrÄelan, ñuha dĆna ÄbrazÈłrys.â
I love you, my sweet wife
HIs hand traveled up your back to drag you closer to him and capture your lips in another kiss, this one more heated and urgent than before but after a while he hesitantly pulled back. Worry was still clouding his beautiful features, making him look beyond exhausted. You lovingly cupped his cheek and gave him an understanding smile.
âCan we just rest tonight?â he requested quietly. You were quick to nod and pull yourself out of his lap, reaching out your hands to take Aemond with you. He followed eagerly, the both of you seeking refuge under the covers of your marital bed, the silence of the room and the comforting crackling of the fire adding to your own exhaustion.
Aemondâs arm snaked around you in a protective pull to have you closer to his chest, needy and warm.
The impending war would have to wait for now, the only thing that mattered tonight was holding your husband.

Comforts of the Night [Aemond Targaryen x Wife!Reader]

Other HOTD stories [requests open]
Summary: After a long day of trying to hunt down your elder brother, Aegon, you and your husband, Aemond unwind, trying not to think of what the morrow will bring...
TW: Mentions SA on a minor.
â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â
â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â
Your long silver hair was down and flowing, and you were already dressed for the night while you put your twins to bed. Your fingers ran over the gold trim of the book in your lap, furrowing your brows. You wanted this moment to last forever, knowing that your peaceful life would plunge into chaos on the morrow.
âMama?â
The small, sweet voice pulled you from your thoughts, smiling at your daughter, who watched you with big doe eyes, the same shade of soft purple as yours.
âYes, little one?â You replied, standing up to put the book back on the shelf.Â
âWhy didnât papa come?â
You sighed softly at the question. âYour papa had a long day.â
Vhaenys pouted. âWill he still come? He always comes.â
You turned to your daughter, giving her a soft smile. Vhaenys leaned more onto your brother-husband, Aemond, whereas her elder twin brother, Vanar, was more attached to you. Vanar was more timid than his sister, but sometimes you caught Vhaenys chipping away at his shy shell.
You stroked back her hair, frowning. âPerhaps he will still come in to bid you goodnight.â You leaned down, kissing the top of her head. âBut because the sun is asleep, I need you to close your eyes, sweet one.â
âBut, mama-â
âI will make sure Papa comes in and bids the both of you goodnight before we rest.â
The little girl pouted but nodded, hugging her stuffed green dragon close to her body. It was a toy given to her at birth. Hers was made to resemble your husbandâs dragon, Vhagar, and your son had a white stuffed dragon to match yoursâa shimmery iridescent dragon known as Revnass.
You pulled the blanket around her before giving her another small kiss on the forehead. You walked over to Vanar, who was already fast asleep, kissing his head. âGoodnight, my byka zaldrÄ«zoti*.â
You took a deep breath, wrapping your dark blue robe tight around you as you made your way to your marital chambers. You walked in to see Aemond in the same spot he was in when you went to read the children to sleep, still dressed in his doublet. You stayed silent, making your way over to the wine to pour yourself a glass.
âDid the twins go down easy?â Aemond asked, breaking the silence.
You nodded, taking a small sip of your wine. âVhaenys falls asleep easier if you read to her, though.â
âI will make it up to her and Vanar as well.â
You glanced at Aemond, watching his mannerisms, your eyes wandering down to his hands. The way he was fidgeting his fingers gave him away in his calm composure. He tried to hold his head high, but you could tell his mask was slowly crumbling.
You licked your lips lightly, looking down at your cup, tracing the lip of it with your ring finger. âWhy did you never tell me what happened on our thirteenth name day?â
âI donât understand what you mean,â Aemond replied, playing simple.
âAemond,â You whispered, the hurt evident in your voice. âI know you better than you know yourself. Do not toy with me.â
His hand fidgeting stopped his gaze still on the fire before him. âWhat would I have said to you, Y/N?â Aemond questioned, his voice thick with emotion.
âYou would have told me where Aegon took you, what the Madameââ
âWe were children then!â Aemond raised his voice, his mask washing away as his voice cracked. âNo one would have believed me in the end.â
You frowned, his words breaking your heart. âOh, my love.â you set your wine down before making your way over to the fireplace. You bent beside his chair, taking his hand in both of yours. âAemond, look at me.â
He clenched his jaw, shaking his head. He only turned his head when you reached up, cupping his cheek. The tears rolling down his cheeks glistened from the firelight, the sight utterly shattering you. It was rare to see him cry, your husband not even shedding a tear when he lost his eye from your nephew many years ago.
You sighed softly, blinking back the tears stinging your eyes. Slowly, you stood, taking his other hand to help him up. You reached up to remove his eyepatch, your thumb gingerly tracing his scar, his sapphire sparkling back at you. You moved your hands to remove his doublet, your eyes flickering to your husband. He seemed to be in such a vulnerable state.
âCome on,â You whispered, taking his hands once more.
You led him over to your bed, getting on first before you took Aemondâs hand after helping him take his boots off. You relaxed against the pillows, tugging Aemond to you. He sniffled, laid his head in your lap, and hugged you around the middle. You laid back slightly, removing the tie from his hair and running your fingers through his silver locks.
âI can kill her for you if youâd like,â You said softly after a moment. âThe Madame,â You clarified. You did not enjoy how she was eyeing him earlier, as though he was prey and she was waiting for the right moment to strike.Â
Aemond sniffled and shook his head, his tense body loosening under your touch. âI do not want to think about her,â He whispered, his voice hoarse.
You nodded, although your mind was already hatching ideas on ways to kill the Madame or torment her the same way she tormented your husband. Aemond squeezed you tight as though if he let go, you would disappear. You sighed while closing your eyes, your fingers still running carefully through each strand of his soft hair as you began to sing a lullaby. It was called Twin Green Dragons, one your wet nurse would sing to you and Aemond, and now you sing it to your twins;
âIn a realm where moonbeams dance,
Two green dragons, twins of chance.
Their wings unfold, a gentle sight,
Guarding dreams throughout the night.
Twin green dragons, side by side,Â
In their realm, theyâll be your guide.
Close your eyes, let worries fade,
In their care, your dreams are made.
Sleep now, dear one, without fear,
The dragonsâ song is drawing near.
Twins of green, they softly sing,
To you, their lullaby they bring.â
â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â
*byka zaldrīzoti: It means little dragons in High Valyrian.
Thank you to @mrsdaemontargaryen for writing the lullaby, Twin Green Dragons for me to include at the end of this Aemond drabble. â€ïž

â Like real people do â
Aemond Targaryen x wife!reader
summary: The reader is Aemondâs new bride, a match fixed some time before Viserysâs death. Daemonâs daughter through Lady Royce navigates through a difficult now into a new chapter of being married to the one eyed prince, council and war.
warnings: daemon being an awful dad, Lukeâs death, attachment issues, angst, slow burn, arranged marriage
word count: 5.1k
Part 1. Part 2
-
Worlds changed, dragons spew fire, flowers burnt and flowers bloomed, children born and doomed. Y/n, Daemon Targerynâs first born through Lady Rhea Royce. A child he had despised ever since her birth, just an extension for his hatred towards Lady Royce in the first place. He could never stand her, having been forced to his duties he hated her even more. He was never around for the aftermath of anything, the rogue prince who knew no bounds. The child wasnât even half a year old when he mercilessly put an end to Lady Royce. The âaccidentâ left the child at the kindness of pitiful wet nurses and the castle staff.
King Viserys however couldnât stand such tragedy over and over, he generally refrained from interfering his brotherâs life. He did regret his decision of marrying daemon to someone against his will but he could not have anticipated such a harsh counter reaction via Daemon. Especially after the babe, Viserys thought the child could perhaps soften the coldness of their relations but it only got worse. The king wished to seek some atonement at least for the sake of the child. Y/n, the princess, away at the grasslands of Runestone. He arranged for her to live at the red keep, a motherless child with an absent father would do better within her present family. The Kingâs children through alicent were mere babies themselves. The maids, the kind Queen herself, would do well to look after the infant. After all the red keep was her house just as much as it was Daemonâs despite his grievance towards it. Her dragon too was well looked after through the keeps instead of Runestone staff. Her dragon was just a hatchling as y/n too was a baby herself.
Alicent, younger at the time. The keepâs staff, mastered in squalling babies and fussy infants. Y/n wasnât a bother at all. Not that she were to remember but Queen alicent was kinder to her than the fates had been, she nursed her like one of her own. Such fondness and softness towards daughters, it was nice enough. At least for a while. Y/n was six by the time daemon had come for Rhaenyraâs wedding, then off with Laena. No familiarity between the six year old y/n and her father. Too young to understand her family setting and Daemon still rancour.
Daemon had two daughters with the driftmark princess, viserys deemed him capable enough to raise y/n then. He decided to send little y/n back to her father, viserys wanted his brother to accept his daughter. Alicent had a smaller voice at that time yet she tried to reason with her husband to let y/n be at the keep. Daemon had to accept his brotherâs whim anyways so he did. Viserys was as relieved as Alicent was anxious that y/n was in Pentos. King made the decision in good faith, if only he put a bit more distrust in daemon than he did trust. Daemon was still the same, y/n, still a child and he did nothing to make her feel included or at home. She learnt to keep to herself how she had seen Haelena do. Still quite young to comprehend where all such distaste came from, all these different people, different land. She longed to call a place home, her memories of the red keep, Alicent, the others it kept fading because she was but a baby back then. Her father wouldnât teach y/n how to ride on dragon back how he did with her half sisters. But y/n had taught it to herself. Watching she learnt, she didnât have to be told explicitly what to do. She fell a lot, on her face and back but she learnt anyways.
As years passed nothing changed between y/n and her father, her half sisters were company enough time to time but she was always in their orbit and not as close. All until Driftmark, they lost lady Laena. Y/n was in her early teens and she tried to be there for Baela and Rhaena. She stood by their side through their motherâs funeral. She understood the gravity of such tragedy, she lived with that grief all her life for her mother who was a stranger she never even met. But she mourned her longer than sheâd known her.
Reunited with Alicent, gaining a distasteful look from Daemon. âYouâve grown so muchâ Alicent remarked as she pulled the girl into her embrace. Both of them looked so much different from when they last met each other. The girl had distant memory of the queen but her warmth was nicer than she had known anyone elseâs. Despite the occasion alicent was brought some peace of mind seeing Y/n, she didnât look her best but at least not the worst. She didnât have to ask y/n to know if Daemon spoke to her, if she felt at home. She reintroduced y/n to her children, some of them y/n didnât even remember through faces if not for name.
âShe was such a small babe.â Helaena commented as she greeted the young girl. It had been years since Helaena had seen her. Aegon and Aemond just stood with disinterest, Aemond trying to mask it otherwise regardless.
After the tragedy that was which followed Laenaâs death upon the nightfall of her funeral. Aemondâs eye was taken and it was a rather gruesome unfolding. A night which left a permanent distance between families. A mark which shaped Aemond for years to come.
As the years followed, dragonstone proved to be just as dreary and awfully lonely for y/n. None of her half siblings were her own or ever treated her as such, unsolicited kindness was all she would get here and there and she had accepted surviving it. Thinking of lives far away, a place where life would begin. But it was perhaps never. As King Viserysâs health worsened the queen and hand took matters into their own hands bit by bit.
The queen, declared that it is but the kingâs wish for Aemond to be married with y/n, Daemonâs firstborn. Viserys was asked about it, surely, his decision was firm and wearily elated about the marriage so what does it matter who pitched the thought as long as the king agreed. Aemond was agitated. He did not want it, at all. For the ever present and abiding Aemond he had a rift with the thought of marriage to y/n. But he kept his shortcomings to himself.
Even more so mortified was y/n, she didnât remember how exactly was her childhood at the red keep but she did recall that ever since driftmark, that family would surely not have a soft heart for her. âFather please donât-please donât make me do thisâ she pleaded Daemon.
âIt is the King, my brotherâs wish.â Daemon said in a disregard of her wish, surprisingly he was fine with his brotherâs second hand wish too. Daemon was aware that the Hightower queen and Otto is who pulled all the strings and his brother was a bed ridden king but this was a decision in his favour as long as he could be rid of y/n.
âYou cannot marry me off like this!â She exclaimed, for someone who rarely expressed thoughts to daemon. Something she learnt in all those years with being met with cold shoulder all of life, she had to fight for her life as of now. âNot to Aemond, please father please, I do not know any of them-â
âYou do. You have spent most of your childhood at the hip of that Hightower queen you will be just fine.â Daemon scoffed with a bit of condescension in his voice. Indifference as he referred to Alicent.
âI do not remember themâ y/n tried to reason, any wet nurse could show sympathy to a high born motherless child she did not account to be in a marriage with that sympathy at this stage in her life. âThey are complete strangers, father, please I will stay wherever you ask please donât marry me off!â
âYou are of age, y/n. This is a fitting decision for you!â He exclaimed with growing irritation at this conversation, daemon never paid mind to her moreover chose not to and hence he had expected her to show nothing but compliance.
âFor me or for you?â She asked with a bitter huff looking away from her father already losing hope in this conversation, she couldnât stomach this decision without letting him know her repulsion of it. âYou are so eager to wash your hands off of me as if I have ever wronged you, all my life, Iâve never asked for anything-â
âHavenât you?!â Daemon said loudly, his rage visible in his tone âThe fact that you exist is asking too much of me as it is. You are an awful reminder and a mistake. I have been subjected to duty and honour and it is only fair if you are too. It is your duty, if not to me then to the King.â With that the door was slammed as the rogue prince walked out, an ironic vision of her life.
A bitter goodbye and an uncertain life with little to no hope y/n was set for the red keep, glancing back at dragonstone for one last time. She didnât know if she held any homely softness for that place in her heart but she presumed the life which awaited her would be more dreary than the stone.
The wedding was an intimate affair, a small ceremony but still a lot of strangers y/n had never seen. Daemon refrained from attending but it was no surprise. She was met with warmth and affection from her mother in law and her family but not her husband to be, they were all a strange set of people down here in the south from the maids to the king himself who didnât even sit on the throne yet made decisions.
Even the most beautiful flowers would wither away at the heavy heart of the new bride of new title, the princess. She couldnât stand her person she was becoming or moreover the mere idea of what she had to be. Aemond wouldnât even share the same bad as her, almost every night for the first week. Heâd rather sleep on the sofa or some nights heâd just never return from wherever he wandered off to.
Barely getting the grasp of it, small domestic solaces just everytime she was with Halena and her mother in law, tending to her niece and nephew. The only time she felt less alone but she was familiar with the loneliness, that wasnât the problem. It was the nerve wrecking confusion and uncertainty that followed after, eating her alive every night that she would lay. Within strangers now, she felt a stranger to herself too.
Days passed, circumstances arose: the king fell. Aegon was declared the king, a restless unease of an upcoming war. The handâs very first decision was passing daemonâs seat on the council to y/n. âWhat?â She asked wide eyed as the hand and queen pitched it to her. âWhy, me? Iâm not even that learnedâŠâ she trailed off.
âYou spend most of your time in the library, you happen to have a knack for reading. Iâm assuming you can write too?â Otto questioned, if more number of people on the council were his own to mould and speak for the rule would be so much easier.
âYes but just letters and scrolls..â she trailed off with a sigh, it was rather strange they would approach her for something as important as the council in the first place.
âWe need sharp mind of a soft heart on the council.â Alicent said as she caressed her daughter in lawâs cheek, with a smile to put some confidence in her. Despite her fatherâs motives of having y/n on the council, Alicent believed y/n would prove to be rather fruitful and genuine.
âIt is also your birthright, through your fatherâs seat on King Viserysâs council. It is only right if you were to be a part of it.â Otto added in an encouraging manner. The pieces were being set already, as the blacks were processing their own steps.
They had Aemond set to go meet lord Dorros the very next morrow, with a bribe of the crownâs coin and loyalty. The forces set, Aegonâs coronation done. Just one last afternoon council left. Aegon, riding the high of his coronation wasnât present in this one.
Everyone took their respective seats, it was an eventful morningâs slow afternoon. The coronation was as eventful as it was unpleasant with the beast beneath the boards. Sending out scrolls to other lords, the council discussed it. Y/n didnât say anything, just listening. Writing out the needed scrolls, Alicent quietly remarked her beautiful hand at the words.
The door slammed open as Aemond entered, he was enraged at his wifeâs seat on the council. âAemond.â Alicent said as the room stiffened.
âWhat is this?â He asked with as his brows furrowed, he felt very wronged and partially frustrated that his lady wife had a seat on the council above him.
âItâs a meeting.â Otto declared as he looked back from the board back to Aemond, âNot yet done, what is your business here?â
âWhat is she doing here?â Aemond inquired as he leant over a chair, more belonging in this room than anyone else. Especially his wife, he thought to himself the other members with an awkward look on their face.
âShe has a seat extended on the kingâs council after her own father, daemon.â Otto filled him in on the subject, visibly disinterested.
âDaemonâs claim on the council died with my fatherâs death. She holds no such extension.â Aemond reasoned calmly, very much opposed to the irritation rising inside him.
âIâm still a hand to the king arenât I? Your mother is on the council. Lord Tyland-â Otto replied back but was interrupted by Aemond midway before he made his point.
âNone of them sworn against Aegon. Daemon has called for the pretender hence his seat on this council holds no significance.â Aemond scoffed looking down at his wife who sat, scrolls lay in front of her and a pen in her hand. She felt overwhelmed with such necessary distaste, the hand to the king and queen mother herself asked her to join the council yet Aemond had an issue. Itâs not as if she were to act against the interest of the crown or make big decisions to begin with.
âShe is the princess. Your lawfully wedded wife, in the eyes of the gods and all the members of this very council and more. Despite Daemonâs treachery and your incoherent jealousy she belongs here.â Otto said breaking Aemondâs mouth, he knew which nerve to exactly hit. Saying Aemond was jealous, of his lady wifeâs seat in front of everyone. It was enough to send him seething back and he was right. With a huff as he stared down at y/n, he turned to his heel at left.
Everyone had their accustomed part with a potential war brewing. Aemond had to leave to meet lord borros next morning. Y/n assumed he would be calculating and supposedly busy with his task at hand yet he found time to cause a scene at the council. Y/n knew that nobody on the council saw her as a threat because they all knew of daemonâs indifference for her. The black sheep. In truth she didnât owe her father any loyalty either so their calculations were correct, her husband however.
She planned to avoid him regardless, spending the rest of the day with the twins, Helaena talking her ear off about her fixated spider and y/n loved that too. Jaehaera was playing with y/nâs hair, adding her toys into it making improper braids. Jahaerys running in circles and hoarding his toys in y/nâs lap as she enjoyed a conversation with their mother.
Alicent walked in, for a moment just taking in the domesticity of the scene. The serenity, the girls laughing. It was rather rare before y/n to see Helaena at peace like this. She entered with a soft knock greeting everyone and she took a seat next to y/n, âChildren you must retire your auntie now, itâs rather late!â
âItâs alright mother, itâs not that late.â protested, Haelena she enjoyed y/nâs company as much as the whining children, Jaehaera caged y/n in her tiny arms from her back to not let her go. However through alicentâs hesitant eyes y/n realised she must have some sort of business to discuss.
âForgive me my loves I am growing a bit tiredâŠbut Iâm not going anywhere Iâd be back soon enough!â She said with a sigh as she kissed the twins goodbye, both of them a bit protestant but let her go eventually. âGood evening, Helaena.â She smiled and bid her goodbye as well and exited with her mother in law.
After they were out in the hallway, secluded of other ears Alicent proceeded âAre you alright?â
âYes, your graceâ y/n replied with a non hesitant nod, in an instant with a smile confused why would that question come up.
âMother.â She corrected her stopping on her way to turn to face her.
â-Mother.â Y/n said with a soft smile rephrasing her title.
âAfterâŠtodayâs council. You have been avoiding Aemond?â She asked searching for y/nâs dreary eyes.
âNo-that is not the caseâ y/n shook her head trying to formulate a better answer given she hadnât asked that question to herself. Because in a sense she was avoiding Aemond. âIââ she breathed âI am rather anxious.â
âOf what? Does he speak to you in an ill manner? Do you wish for me to talk to him?â Alicent inquired concerned for her hesitation of Aemondâs lashing out or whatever it was she was trying to avoid.
âNo-no itâs not thatâŠI just feel guilty. He wants an authority, his opinion to be heard at council level and I get that place before him, weâre not at the best terms to begin with and now he must be cross with meâ Y/n explained her worry with a sigh.
âAnd? It is your right, y/n.â Alicent said as she took her hand into hers in an affirming way, âyou must never feel guilty for claims that are solely yours.â She explained, âas of Aemond, he can be difficult sometimes, but I assure you he isnât malevolent. He loves you.â
The Queen motherâs assurance felt it came from a place of gentle constitution and the motherly naĂŻvetĂ© of overlooking some things but y/n was more than aware that Aemond did anything but love her. She was familiar with lack of warmth, affection, just so far from it she could almost find strange ways to dwell in it. It was an emotion she knew for so long, from her fatherâs house to her husbandâs, bricks of her old life and no love.
But she did not tell alicent of her wearies, after all she did not worry about it she was at terms with it. But she was worried meeting Aemond, as of now, she walked the hallway to their shared bedchamber with heavy breaths. Aemond was looking out the giant window, he had a journey to make the next morning to the baratheons yet he wasnât resting or preparing. Much to y/nâs demise she hoped heâd be off somewhere else. She closed the door behind her as she entered, Aemond never talked to her generally. She never spoke unless spoken to but today silence weighed heavy between the two of them.
âThe meeting ran late did it?â Aemond asked without looking back at her, he could tell from the soft stride who entered their chambers.
âNo, I was with HelaenaâŠâ She trailed off growing strangely anxious because she felt answerable to him. As if it would compensate him and that was her burden to bear. âThe meeting was rather trivialâ
âWas it now?â He scoffed in a bigger way and turned to face her, âYou must have provided the trivial meeting with your other worldly wit and understanding of warfare.â
âAemondâ she said taking in a sharp breath, meaning to tread carefully âI know you are upset. Believe me I did not know beforehand of the planning nor was it offered to me, the hand-queen mother they deemed it as my duty and right and I did not have other choice otherwise I wouldâve asked youâŠâ
âAsked me what?â Aemond interrogated crossing his arms as he leant against the stone pillar, her feigning nonchalance and false sympathy irritated him to no end.
âTo take my placeâ she answered. She meant it in a genuine sense because she did not hold the same passion or want for a seat on the Kingâs council the way Aemond did. It was far from her. âIâd rather you take my place, I have no wish for authority on the council. I could ask the hand to-â
âYou truly are the imbecile I presumed you to be.â He said assertively as he stiffened, his shoulders tight. âAre you that naive? Do you think I would need your help to put myself on the council? Yours?â He said as he huffed, berating her was his intention. Y/n remained silent, unmoving in her place no matter however she tried and help him or soften the rift in their marriage he was always imbecile from it. In the meantime he walked a bit closer to her, towering over her given his taller stature he leant forward by a bit to make himself appear intimidating.
âMy apologies then.â She muttered lowering her gaze from his because she felt rather scrutinised by him as if she was at fault for something, as if she had wronged him. âExcuse meâ she said before he could reply and attempted to retreat away to the adjoint bathroom. Wait out him falling asleep or leaving. The newlywed with their peculiar marriage of indifference.

Aemomdâs return from his errand with the Baratheon lord contained of a difficult detour nobody had anticipated. Rather difficult, to navigate such a blow through warfare. The council, y/n merely heard and spoke four sentences on an average, was shocked. No idea of action status not war treading. Circumstance heavy on everyone. Shame and disregard.
Sitting by the burning lamp, late evening, the scrolls and letters were to be written with such urgency after what happened with lucerys y/n had to take it to her own desk. Too busy with the works she barely processed the loss yet, she did not know Lucerys as a brother but an acquaintance who was rather kind to her all those years.
She barely looked up when the door opened, only when Aemond drew closer. Rather too close to her desk, he leant on the table where she was writing. Close to where she was sitting he breathed heavily. Putting the pen down and the scroll aside y/n looked up at him. âWhat did the king say?â
âThe king?â Aemond repeated with a small laugh, he was still getting used to the new titles but referring those even behind closed doors was somewhat strange. âAegon, he is not the most serious about it. Collateral damage he said.â Aemond repeated the words, he was never fond of the bastard himself but he never planned to take such drastic step. âGrand sire had a lot to say and mother, she is disappointed. Perhaps everyone is disappointed?â He asked emphasising âeveryoneâ referring to her. He did not know of his lady wifeâs connection with the Strong boy but his own mother had a dislike for him and yet she was disappointed.
âI donât know warfare as good as the lot of you, butâ she nodded to his previous implication of being disappointed in a way, such loss must be difficult to stomach for those really close. âIt is a lotâŠâ
âDo you grieve him?â Aemond asked, his tone non threatening nor interrogative, subtly calm.
Pausing y/n thought about it for a moment, she was quick to side with the handâs cold and calculative decisions as her mother in law suggested writing Rhaenyra letters instead, y/n herself weighed heavy on practicality as if grief was non existent. In a way it was. âI donât knowâ she said puzzled âWe were never close but he was kind to me, not all of them and not everytime but whenever he could beâŠâ she trailed off. âHe was easily anxious about a lot of things, scared.â Last time she had seen him it was the dinner for King Viserys upon the discussion to heir of driftmark. The scene that followed that dinner was distant in y/nâs mind until now. The same inferior fright was in Lukeâs eyes that day.
Aemond did not say anything, her words made him feel guilty even more so but he would never display to anyone. He fought for his life debating to the council, to grandsire that it was an accident however not enough for him to take accountability of it as if he had done something wrong. He knew he had, but he did not show it. He could not. It did not come from a place of sympathy nor altruistic intentions but an ambush of unsolicited guilt. âIs it true?â She asked him.
âWhat is?â He replied as her voice pulled him out of his thought and his gaze met hers, she still sat on the desk the soft orange hue of the lantern on her face.
âYou hold no regret?â She asked him referring to the conversation he had with the council when he was confronted about what happened. He did not owe his truthfulness to anyone, especially not the council.
The heavy silence between the two of them told her more than his words could, her eyes softened as he pondered his unsaid exoneration. Nobody would believe him but she might just, âI did not mean for that to happen, nor did I plan it.â
There was a crack in his demeanour, very different from how he presented himself back in front of everyone else about the the whole ordeal. Accountability seeping in and he should know, âActing bigger than the situation wonât provide you with the atonement you are looking for.â She told him, forgetting herself when he asked for her advice and she assumed in such delicate state of mind he would rather lash out than listen but he did not. He was present, here to listen. To her? So far he had made it so very clear that he held no regard for her whatsoever.
âI am not looking for atonement.â He said more to himself than to her in a gentle tone and a hint of lostness in his expression. He longed for something, some consolation of some kind but he did not know exactly what and he felt restless with heavy emotions.
âYou are.â She answered for the question he did not ask out loud, however the epiphany of it was not lost on him as he looked at her like an open wound. He did not protest her because she was right, she held the answers to herself. She could think for him despite of what he did and it unsettled him in some way because he had never felt such softness of anyone else. To know that he had done something he would have to seek atonement for andâŠhold regard for him still?
âDo you see me differently then?â He asked, small fright creeping him on the inside if she affirmed his answer.
âNoâ she replied without hesitation nor enthusiasm, she did see him less ruthless and uncaring than she had previously known him to be but she did not tell him that in this state of mind of his. However the heavy silence and the remorseful tension was too much to bear. She stood up from her chair seemingly to leave and attend some other task, just then realising he stood rather close. Before she could attempt to move away he stopped her. Holding her by her wrist he pulled her close but he was already close enough, the distance shortening this small for the first time since their wedding.
âDo you truly, not see differently?â He asked again with searching eyes. He couldnât do with her short no however affirming as it was it wasnât absorbing. It did not feed to his shame and guilt.
Y/n did not know how to soothe his wearies, she never thought her perception would matter to him at all. The walls within their marriage came crumbling down as he held her wrist it seemed, she wasnât going away yet he kept a hold of her. To ground himself more than her. After staring into his eye for what seemed like an eternity she simply pulled him into her embrace, in a tight embrace. Her arms holding his broad stature the best they could, raising on her toes to bring him as close as she could.
Aemond was stunned to say, for a moment. He could not fathom she would want to tread so gently with him after what he had done he did not expect such, such softness. As he enlaced his arms around her waist, hugging her back as he raised her closer to him. His person. He had never felt such warmth and love of hands that would show soft affection even after knowing his ugly work, he was met with her comfort when he deserved retribution. It nestled his spirit in a serene place, he worried the place would vanish if he let go off her so he didnât. He kept holding her close to him, closer of it was possible as he buried his face by the crook of her neck.
After a while she pulled away but not entirely, resting her temple against his. His soft breath on her as she sighed closing her eyes. He followed to, until he met her gaze again. His impulse wanted to touch her face to make sure she was real, that this moment was. So he did. Fixing the loose strand of her hair behind her ear he cupped her face. She did not move away, heart racing in such gentle exchange between the two of them. It was a first and he did not want her to extend her boundaries for his sake but he could not stop himself, he brushed his lips against her.
Indulging in a passionate kiss, holding her face in his hands as if she was made of porcelain. It was the first time somebody had held y/n with such fragility. Such affection was very foreign to her all her life, even the kiss on their wedding day felt forced and ceremonial. But this felt real, it was. She kissed him back and held him close, standing in the light of a desk lantern, the moonlight seeping in and lovers who might just be alright.
