Other moments from today....Had an awesome #workshop today with the one and only @moira.merrithew !! 馃ぉ #advancedreformer from then to now was really fascinating (and butt-kicking)!! Preparing for the Advanced Reformer intensive this weekend. Banged it out in 45 minutes! Yeeeaaahhh Buddy!聽
Here you see me doing a variation of balance control back. This exercise challenges the strength and stability of your shoulder girdle, while finding support in your primary and inner powerhouse (abs, inner thighs, and pelvic floor). It's an advancement of the intermediate exercise,聽long back stretch. It's called balance control BACK, because you are primarily working muscles in the BACK of your body (even though the body is facing the front of the reformer).
This exercise is done starting in neutral pelvis, but when leg choreography is added, the pelvis will slightly tuck. Tricep dips can be added when it's not hard enough. ;)

HORSEBACK: Challenges balance and stability using low abdominals and adductors (inner thights). It's about maintaining c-curve shape with spine and STAYING IN THAT SHAPE against the moving arms/carriage. Like most exercises in Pilates it's about WHAT'S NOT MOVING. Arms are a distraction - arms are trying to fuck you up here. Don't let 'em.
