Little Chickadee meet little Sparkle au
8yo Dick, picks up 3yo Wally: so this baby kid flash?
Barry: yeah, this is apparently him at three years old according to Iris.
Dick, looks at the tiny boy in his arms: and his dad hated him!? Adults are useless.
Bruce, sighed: can't wait for Constantine and zatanna to fix this... Alfred where's the leash? *Leaves*
Dick, gives Barry, Wally back: I will make sure nobody hurts him again.
Barry: aw, that's so sweet of you.
A few hours later
Bruce: I told you to watch him, how could you let him get away!?
Barry: he said he went to the bathroom, how was i supposed to know he would leave, the time I knew him he listened in Central!
Wally, fussy because people are yelling:
Bruce: where could he have gone to, all his usual hits are protected.
Barry: ... Oh my god, OH MY GOD HE'S AFTER RUDY!
Bruce: Rudy?
Barry, grabbing his things: Wally's shitty bio dad, he read Canary's file on Wally and asked me questions.
Bruce: AND YOU GAVE THEM TO HIM, FREELY!?
Barry: I'm sorry I forgot he was blood thirsty as a child, okay!
Jason, holding a now crying Wally: hush it dipshits, and he's like eight how far on foot could he have gone.
Tim: he knows about the zeta tubes.
Jason: oooo, yeah that mother fucker dead dead.
Cass: I also saw him grabbed Barry's phone and called up Iris.
Barry: SHIT MY WIFE GONNA GO TO PRISON! I GOTTA GO!

Brain worms struck a nerve once more...
Just? Baby Dick, he is just so smol and full of hate.
I am just imagining this small 9 year old, taking on full aged adults and winning, then turning around and grinning like the devil at the remaining crooks
I just think Gotham Twitter would be like
Gothamite 1: Robin 4 is such angy, most stabby boy
Gothamite 2: He isn't even angry??? Like that boy is just autistic, I talked to him about proper pet care for like 45 minutes after getting mugged, Bats had a fucking 1000 mile stare.
Gothamite 3: If you want real angry Robin, you need to look at n.1 or @ Realwing. I was a goon for a bit out of collage, he broke 3 ribs and my collar bone by pushing me down the stairs and then jumping on me.
Gothamite 1: Can't see it, Nightwing is too pure.
Gothamite 2: He has fucking killed/brutally maimed people? Parasocial much??
And like, also more on Baby Dickie...that boy did not speak English as his main language until he came to live with Bruce, Halys circus tours in Europe mostly? Give me little Dickie just looking at Bruce with uncomprehending eyes as the man tries to explain that Dickie will be living with him.
Give me baby Dick with the cutest thick French accent as a boy (side note, have you seen children speak French? It's so fucking cute, they sound so fancy but still so very baby) Like I feel like he spoke a hodgepodge of languages with the carnies? Maybe that carries over to his Robin ages.
Robin, running up to Batman, cycling through 5 different languages and two dialects, then just holds out a frog to Bruce expectantly.
Bruce, who missed about every 3rd word and had to translate French, then German, then Portuguese and then Romani to English in a matter of seconds, "Yes...You may keep it."
Dick, giving Bruce a very concerned look, then to the frog, then to Bruce again "You...want to... to own it? Is it not...giftig? ruim para comer? " Groaning he flaps his hand trying to think of the right word, "Does not...work well with me? Make feel bad? Is sick?"
Bruce nodded slowly, "Poisonous or toxic is the word you are looking for Chum, no its just a cane Toad, Ce n'est pas toxique, c'est sans danger."
(Dickie does keep the toad, His name is Herr Haly and he lived very well in the gardens, he died not long after Jason came around)
Later when Dick went to do Teen Titans, the reason Starfires English is kinda messed up is because Dicks brain is hardwired for like four other things, and English was just the one she was looking for, he mentally translates every word from another language to English, so the grammar is a bit rough some times.
#batman#batfam#Dick grayson thoughts#Little baby man Dickie#Robin number 1 is the true Angry Robin#he was brutal#and so cute#hc Dickie not speaking english as his primarily language#he still struggles with it as an adult#the media had a field day when he was introduced#Vicky vale learnt french just to talk to him#only to be one upped by out of town journalist Clark Kent who knew both french and spanish#(they were both offered at Smallsvill high and he needed the credits)#(que Bruce catching feeling for the man thst seems to put in effort to speak to his son in a way that is comfeotable for him)#teen titans (mentioned)#starfire really chose the worst one to learn english from

Not to sound like I'm sort of booktok girlie or some shit but like. Books really are good ass gifts. You don't have to know somebody super well but you can still give them something really thoughtful and also in a price range that is like. Normal for most people when it comes to gifts. AND sometimes libraries will sell books quite cheap that they have too many copies of or are out of circulation etc so you can buy from them AND support the library. Honestly not seeing a downside here
#note: this applies to adults. many children do not fucjjng want books#extra note: books can also be good gag gifts. getting your english major friend some book about learning to read is very funny

in this weeks episode of "i want to cut up elias' brain and put it under a microscope" ...
ive graduated past the need to rationalize the age gap and i think trying to debate it is obstructive to actual discussion of the story. truthfully. listen to me. im telling you that i cannot be fucked to care about it anymore. but i would LOVE to understand his mental gymnastics
he doesnt like children. actively dislikes them, even. he views people around chises age as children. i think if he ever displayed particular interest in one of her peers (which would never happen, but walk with me), we would all have to put him under the jail. but somehow chise doesnt count, to him. its soooo. like, WHAT is his logic here??
im not explaining this well, maybe this belongs in the drafts. but do you get what i mean man??? this is perhaps another instance where the simple answer is "hes stupid"
more importantly, regarding the reason why so many adults protest the nature of his relationship to chise:
#original#elias#i think a lot of this could have been avoided by having chise be someone whos about to graduate high school#and is suicidal over the idea of not being able to attend college or get a job or even be housed once she becomes a legal adult#but i think her being 15-17 is important because shes learning how to participate in society again and making friends is easier at her age#also the fact that elias is described as a child more times than can fit on two hands so its important that they are both juvenile#i think of all the ways this manga could have avoided being a Hear Me Out hall of famer. but i guess im glad the fandom isnt huge#i guess i just want to say that us as the reader are allowed to approve of robinthorn. any approving adult in canon should be sho- WHO SAI#glaring hole in yamazakis research of english culture revealed by the fact that no one has ever called elias a nonce

this feels too soon to say because its still not well over a month that i started uni but like...
im quite happy by how things are going now- it doesn't feel all too restrained unlike my past school years. and apart from that, i feel a lot more independent being able to travel miles away from my home which has been my biggest anxiety as i got older. just the fear of getting lost spooks me a whole lot! even if i'm travelling through a planned route, going all by myself is probably the bravest thing i did this year and i say this as an introvert who doesn't go out all too often
#ive always wanted to share this sudden core memory of mine when i was grade 12: i liked my english teacher a lot and she made us write an-#-essay about something that.. i want to overcome? i think? i forgot but i remember my passage very well#i basically summarized that i feel i haven't developed that well as an adult in terms of maturity and feel that im very left out in social-#-situations. as well as feeling like a serious adult. i basically said that i wish i was given more time to get myself together#then when i got my paper back: my teacher had checked it with a little message near it: and it said something like#“it's okay to experience this - time will wait for you and you still much time to learn and grow” something like that. not verbatim but#that's what i remembered so well. when i read that i felt so happy and understood#i am not that close to my teachers but seeing that this teacher cared to really read my passage and not just check for grammar mademe joyous#so remembering that - and now that im in uni - typing this all out as i wait for my bus that will take an hour worth of travel to go to#i feel really accomplished#irl banter#~ rambling#yeah :)#my point is. you're never too late to learn new things

Hey y'all! I am in the mood for some new (to me) music. Do you have any recommendations for songs that make you want to dance? No limits on genre or language, but if you're sending me a link to a specific music video please give me a heads up if it has flashing lights (if possible). Thanks!
#the person behind the yarn#I heard a song playing at the local Joanns the other day and I regret not writing down the lyrics so I could look it up#very very dance-able#I remember none of the words at all lol#I do not care what language the songs I listen to are in#if it's fun to sing I will learn the lyrics regardless of language#I mean most of the songs I listen to are in English but I have songs I sing along with in several other languages#...I might only know what like half of the words actually mean but I did know the meanings at one point!#I just learned a lot of the lyrics before I got sick and those memories are Gone#oh wait if the lyrics are not in English and the lyrics are propositioning someone I would like to know that#so there's not a repeat of the 'the only French I knew as a child was song lyrics but I very much didn't know what they meant'#like I do not mind the lyrics I just want to avoid another Incident#I cannot tell you how many adults (in retrospect) heard me singing that song. CLEARLY had a face journey about it#and were like...she can't know what that means. Should I tell her? That would be so awkward. I'm not going to tell her#I thought adults just didn't like French for so long

people who say that we should not create or interact with problematic media lack basic understanding of how we as a society learn and analyze media. i dont mean that in a 'fiction doesnt affect reality' way, but in a 'fiction comes from reality, is shaped through us as a collective, and is a reflection of some of the deepest, truest parts of people'. if we ignore, if we condemn, if we ban media that has uncomfortable topics, we will never learn. we learn by looking at it and seeing why it is wrong. we hate by understanding it, not by just learning 'oh this thing is wrong so i have to hate it'. maybe for children who aren't ready to learn all of the deeper parts, or lack the comprehension skills to look at media critically. hate films made by bigots are awful, but banning them isn't going to fix the problem. if you don't want to watch them, you don't have to! but it's important for us to see why they were wrong. and see how that hatred spreads into our lives without us realizing it. same reason we study the holocaust (the nazis, btw, burned media that didn't agree with them. i'm not saying that people who say we should ban/hide information on topics that displease them are authoritarian right extremists but i am saying its a worrying connection). and commentaries that are about vile things happening by/to the protagonist (most of the time) are not encouraging the vile acts! if written well and written by the right people, commentaries are an insight to how these people actually think/feel, even if through prolonged allegories. we should not be crucifying some of the greatest social commentaries just because they're uncomfortable, because that is how we lose. if we do not understand, we cannot overcome! this is NOT me saying that people should just write about pedophilia, or incest, or anything of the sort just for fun. i do think that's gross at it's core, but that does not mean the writing/filming/ect is not important for us to look at as a society and go Hm. How Did This Happen?
#anyways. yeah thanks for reading this if you did its just a mindless rant#discourse#does this fit into pr0ship/ant1 discourse. because i really could give less of a shit about that#problematic#problematic media#fiction affects reality#fiction doesn't affect reality#nope.. neither.. but a secret third thing (fiction is a mirror of reality)#this is the kinda shit we learned in english ii and adults on the internet cant even comprehend it. jfc#book banning#media banning#idk what else to tag

but yeah to piggyback off that post y'all have to understand that if you're not usamerican or got lucky in regards to english teachers, even writers like myself got so sick of being handed boring, surface-level interactions with media and being discouraged from anything else that ofc we hated having to explain why the curtains are blue. because it wasn't a discussion of "okay is this meant to set a tone? tell us something about the character, like is blue their favorite color? or is it meant to symbolize something deeper? what are the different ways we could interpret this?" it was "the curtains are blue because the main character is sad. we don't have time for anything else bc public schools are wildly underfunded and overcrowded depending on the district and i make like 40k a year so any differing opinions will be shrugged off at best and punished at worst."
#emma shut up#how about you apply some of your own nuance for literature to like. actual human beings.#like i LIKED english i write essays for fun in my adult life and put them on yewchewb. and i went thru a 'THE CURTAINS ARE JUST BLUE' phase#because it felt pretentious to me because we weren't engaging with the text on a level that mattered#also most assigned reading for classes suck sorry. like shakespeare and to kill a mockingbird are outliers#i had to read shit like the fountainhead which was so long and stupid we didn't even finish it#also i can't imagine being autistic or having a learning disability that made reading for comprehension difficult#and being forced to do that shit. like whata fuck i can barely remember what i read and now you want me to explain color palettes?

vital part of the Kids Cant Read discourse thats KILLING ME is that the only opinions we see are from english teachers. this is fine when the discussion is ostensibly about literacy but i think we should pass the phone to math teachers and computer science teachers. because im a little suspicious that the focus on stem for the past 20+ years could be a contributing factor
#'kids dont even get spelling tests anymore because their teachers just expect theyll have spellcheck 😥😥'#1. they will (said as someone coming up on 8 years of school spelling competitions)#2. which generations fault is that 🤨#3. if spelling is being phased out but we all know block coding what does this say about how our 'stem first' values are working out#not sure how well i articulated this but the answer you should be at rn is 'they arent'#english class has been devalued to where people on this site think 'media literacy' means 'agreeing with my take'#people irl say computer science is the only way to make money#theres huge misconceptions about simple shit youd learn in a humanities class#the concept of cultural diffusion. which religion believes what. history of different countries.#things ive had to tell grown adults: africa is not a country. or a barren wasteland. neither is the arctic circle.#the amazon ALSO has people in it. the us DOES have something to do w the philippines actually#is this how we get the james somertons of the world#nah jk he didnt know how to code. did yall see the process of him privatinf his videos lmfao

Book Review #11 - Goddess Crown
✧˖°.⊹📖⊹.°˖✧
A summarized synopsis for you - a young, guarded princess uncovers the secrets behind her identity and struggles for power while grasping the deadly drama surrounding her royalty. The Afro-centric nation of Galla - rich with ancestry, beliefs and traditions - awaits her every move.
Some of the awesome aspects of this book would be the strong female lead, a great introduction to the FMC (Female Main Character)'s environment, and the highlight - an abundance of action scenes. I like a woman who is not afraid to fight for herself because it contradicts the "damsel in distress" trope and shows women being capable of defending themselves, particularly in the context of a setting that is detrimental for their empowerment. Also, this book is clearly based on African culture and heritage, and for those of us who want to know more about the richness of it, beautiful imagery awaits you. I like the encouragement towards equality and sisterhood - subjects that I think are even relevant in today's modern society. This novel also feels very "escapist" - like you are being transported to another universe within the book and that makes this read wonderful for Young Adults (YA). However, it felt too fast towards the end and would have had no harm expanding its plot across 100 more pages to build-up tension and lengthen obstacles in the plot. I also feel like the love interest would have evoked more emotion if his relationship with the FMC had been more developed. The book could have done with more plot twists to mask the possible identity of the antagonist and the supporting characters could have been fleshed out more (they felt too unidimensional sometimes). The antagonists' motivation also felt too briefly explained. These flaws do not render the pages unreadable but rather serve as stepping stones for the author to use to explore a future in the FMC's journey (which would do great with a series of novels).
I would recommend this book to fantasy enthusiasts, particularly those aged 16-19 and female. It will inspire them to be brave and take the lead in their life pursuits as this message by the author is put out for them to easily understand. There is a great range of vocabulary for their learning too. If you are interested in the basics of world-building, this is a good read too (and a fast one at that - it is possible to read this book in a day's time). An important point also is that this book revolves around the theme of black women being in power and if you are interested in this, Goddess Crown is worth the read.
Rating: 3.5/5 Stars
Edition: Paperback, 2024
Signing off till next time~

”being bilingual is a privilege” is the most anerican and tumblr take to exist
#wtf do you MEAN???#learning a language is difficult but barely a privilege. it’s a privilege to have access to learning institutions#it’s a privilege to be able to pay for lessons#sure.#BUT it is not a privilege to learn a language. yall have duolingo. the internet is almost free#get friends who are from different countries and cultures and languages#you don’t have to travel to learn a language.#you can learn your quirky ass weeb japanese only through anime#and then when you tryto use it it might be a big awkwies but watever#you can learn french by watching minecraft youtubers in french.#you can learn spanish by hanging out w hispanic ppl.#is it difficult? yes learning a language (especially as ab adult) will always require effort.#but it is not inaccessible to the point that having access to learning a language is a privilege#yall monolinguals just want an excuse and feel like a victim for being monolingual.#and it’s not your fault that monolingualism is common in english speaking countries.#bc globalist language norms etc.#but. be for fucking for real PLS.

Typical to see as I read some assigned essays for school that people in the U. S. have always been fucking stupid by and large about treating their children with any respect to the point it actually hurt their literacy skills
#children need to be able to participate in what adults read to them but often it's interpreted as the child needing to shut up#so the kids learn less because they're not able to engage in dialogue and conceptualize what's read#nor do lots of parents actually explain connections between content of the book and the irl versions a child sees#they assume the child already knows associations by themselves not that they need to be taught an association to learn#they assume a kid is born knowing how to explain everything not that it's a skill they're taut#*taught#ppl are fucking stupid#and then the kid goes to school does bad in English and the parents are like We don't know why#the parents were more interested in domineering how their kids see reading than teaching context or analysis#bc the association is Child = Obedient Object

Sasha being raised bilingual when her second language is one NEITHER of her parents speak is so silly to me, ik for a fact her and Derek talk shit in the same room once she's older.
#Derek teaches her Spanish while he's coparenting with Oline#and he keeps teaching her after Oline and Baxter have time to talk.#Oline is learning Hawaiian as an adult#so Sasha only knows like a few words.#Baxter is English only once he gets over his random use of French words to seem cool.#our life#gb patch games#olba#baxter ward#our life beginnings & always#derek suarez#sasha whitlock#oline whitlock

once i saw a prompt on cherp that said "i DO NOT WANT (topic), if you dare come to me with that in the rp ill BASH YOUR KNEECAPS IN WITH MY BASEBALL BAT" and it's like. bro. shut up.
Thats so embarrassing lmao. At least these babies generally identify themselves by talking like a tumblr post from 8 years ago so its fairly easy to steer clear of them.
#ask#stop talking like a child who learned english on the zomg so random herp derp ermagerd internet and never matured#its not cute it is literally the most annoying way a person could possibly exist#like that kid who kept telling me to touch grass and piss myself or whatever#yes i understand you don't have an arguments so you have decided to talk in meme speak#but the adults are discussing honey
