elementary school teachers can honestly be either 2 types:

some of the nicest people you ever meet

some of the worst assholes you ever meet

in elementary i was fortunate enough to have mostly very angelic teachers or teachers i was neutral towards but there were some that i absolutely dreaded because they would shame me for not grasping concepts quicker than the other kids, particularly in math.

like this one teacher i had when i was 6 years old, she would shame me for “not listening” even when i WAS paying attention to the lesson but i wasn’t able to grasp the concept well like the other kids, which made me feel so bad about myself.

to my current knowledge of right now i have not been diagnosed with autism or adhd but thinking very hard about myself in the past few months i might have a certain amount of undiagnosed adhd in me, but it has always been hard for me to grasp certain concepts such as math, something i’ve struggled with and continue to struggle with in school.

this teacher (will not name her for privacy reasons but we’ll call her L) sometimes made me nervous to go to class in the morning just because of how sensitive I am to even the smallest of negative comments towards me about things i’ve done that were accidents (e.g like idk dropping supplies or forgetting something) and shamed for needing additional clarification after something is said to me. like when a teacher immediately gave up on me after she told me to go bring something to somewhere in the building and i needed to hear the destination one more time. especially when it came to line leading, which i was TERRIBLE at because even when they think the instructions they give are “simple” to them, to me they aren’t and i’m sorry i’m too “stupid” or am “not listening” to adhere by them. thankfully line leading where i am now barely exists and we all walk in crowds but whenever i am tasked being in the front line i get a terrible, terrible feeling of anxiety that reminds me of when i was in elementary.

L wasn’t like this all those two semesters, but mainly from what I can remember it was mainly in the beginning. i hated when my name was called up to the front and i would attempt and prepare myself to be shamed in front of the entire class for taking too long to figure out a problem on a topic that i wasn’t able to grasp quickly enough unlike other students.

also hated computer class. teacher was so mean and she was very loud and had no shame in telling other teachers about me and my little “problems”.

both teachers had made me cry in class (which i often feel embarrassed about) and I’ve heard comments from them like “awww c’mon! we don’t cry in 1st grade!”

BITCH.

THERE ARE FUCKING 6 YEAR OLDS IN YOUR CLASS.

HOW THE FUCK DO YOU EXPECT LITTLE KIDS TO NOT CRY IN YOUR CLASS WHEN YOU SHAME THEM FOR TINY THINGS?

teachers like that pissed me off and made me feel terrible about myself when i was younger and i still hate them. both of them are retired now but im sure as hell glad they’re not doing this to their students anymore. they deserve love and acceptance into their classroom and as much care as possible when they happen to be slower than other students in terms of understanding concepts correctly.

please don’t feel bad about yourself if someone shames you for stuff like this. everyone learns at their own pace and it’s absolutely okay! you’re just making the world a more diverse and awesome place with being you, and those who accept you for who you are add to the kindness that we are in dire need of these days. you are beautiful and you are a smart human being and i love you and everyone else loves you 🙏❤️🩷❤️🩷❤️

- It makes me wonder about the album, is it the story if one relationship? Or a Midnights kinda thing where it's about different moments throughout his life?

- The chorus especially feels how it feels to work on a show - I don't know how else to describe it, and 'it just hurts cuz I want it'

Real Super Dark

- The link from the end of Starf*cker is cool

- Going from 'it's been a pleasure, its nice to meet you' to 'everyone's freaking me out' is a very cool contrast

Funeral Grey

- It's funky fun, it feels like Double Dare grown up, I love it

- The spelling makes me ask if the woman he's talking to is British, and I also think we need to focus more on the fact her FAVOURITE COLOUR is fucking GREY???

- Awsten's flirting techniques being 'what's your favourite colour' 'smoking is carcinogenic' 'fuck me' is hilarious to me

Brainwashed

- I was obsessed the minute this came out

- I love playing this on bass, the timing is really nice and I like playing with the dynamics between the verse and chorus

- Falling fast for someone like that sounds terrifying, can't relate but I love the concept

- Looking at your crush and going 'why??' is absolutely a mood

2 Best Friends

- The next time I go out with my two besties the guy I've had a crush on twice is also meant to be there and something about that feels perfect for this song even though we're friends now and I literally invited him

- The synth sounds liked Glitter Times!!!

- I like this because even if I don't get like this about romance, 'it didn't work and I feel like shit. Wake up tomorrow and try again' is very much applicable to me. Shit sucks, things don't magically get better overnight, but fuck it we keep going.

- The chorus feels like having a crush. It's like my heart is reaching out.

- The verse sounds like what goes on in my brain a lot of the time - maybe I do have ADHD..

- It's such an emotional song and my jaw literally dropped

Self Sabotage

- I don't know what to say, it's a good song

- I think we're all guilty of self sabotaging behaviour to some degree but it's very interesting to hear someone else describe their experiences with it

- something about it is reminiscent of the music I loved as a child - I've been into alternative music since I was born, and I can't quite place what it is but there's a nostalgia to it for me

- it's the equivalent of Tantrum orr Turbulent I guess but it feels so different

Fuck About It

- The contrast between Ritual talking about his trauma and how he feels he's being taken advantage of, then Fuck About It being about a relationship where its just about sex because the other party doesn't want to communicate with him (and then that in contrast to Self Sabotage where its him who keeps trying to push her away)

- It's a fun song but as usual, I am left wanting to give Awsten a hug and stroke his hair like he's a cat if I think about the lyrics too long

Closer

- This ripped my heart out

- 'I feel love a different way' as someone who's a-spec that hit me hard.

- I have been here I have felt this

- 2000's pop punk vibes, reminiscent of All Time Low (I do not support ATL🖕) - reminds me of listening to Last Young Renegade on my sunset walks during lockdown

I was reading multiple article and a couple of research papers on mothers' burnout and I cannot fathom how ppl are still blaming mothers for over-investing in their children.

"You should take time for yourself!" Yeah dumbass, are you going to get your ass here to babysit my kids? No? So shut up and die.

"You should ask for help!" Yeah dumbass, sure I could ask my overworked single friends living far away that I barely meet 2 times at year (and think that I have to atone bc I took the not-smart decision to have children) to spend their precious spare free time to come over to look 2h at my (hyper ADHD) kids while I do something alone to recharge. Or I could drop them off to my (not living nearby) inlaws who use to drop them off at stranger’s house without telling me ("because the neighbor has a nice pool" yeah and maybe they are a pedophile and you don't know bc you barely talked 2 times with them?) or my (not living nearby) parents that could not set a boundary and let the kids do whatever, who think that fries are an ok dinner or take the kids to places without telling us ("we only took them to a boat trip in another city!") with my father driving (usually after drinking alcohol).

Yeah dumbass, I'm happy that you have an healthy and functional social net. Good for you.

I haven't and it's the main reason I cannot do all the get-better task in your dumb anti-burnout to do list.
