Biography:
Adara Ryker has been vicious ever since she was a little girl. When you have a brother who likes to take stupid risks and you’re forever cleaning up his messes, you tend to store a lot of anger and she was furious with Maven. He liked to think he was living on the edge, but he was just living like a child in her opinion. Maven had been a risk-taker ever since they lost their parents, and nothing Adara nor their grandparents said could snap him out of it. But little did Adara know that she would be the one to make her brother snap out of it, although not in a way that she ever expected. She awoke one night with a hand clamped over her mouth, and the first thing she saw were the corpses of her grandparents. But unlike most other people, the first thing she felt was not sadness or fear, but blood-boiling anger. She didn’t have a strong enough hold on her magic yet, but the young witch had enough control that she was able to make her captor’s hands feel like they were on fire, and his grip loosened as his hands burned. The spell did not hold for long, but it lasted long enough that Adara had time to grab a kitchen knife and cut off two fingers from her kidnapper before his co-conspirator came in from outside and knocked her unconscious. When she awoke, she was tied to a chair and her mouth was gagged. She only had a few moments to collect her thoughts before a curtain was drawn back and she had to squint into the brightness until she realised her brother was pinned to the floor by two burly men and one of her kidnappers now had a knife pressed against her throat. There was another man sat in a chair who was addressing her brother, and from what Adara could understand, Maven had borrowed money from this man and had never paid it back which was why she had been kidnapped. He told Maven he had been given enough chances, and he had been so impressed with how ferocious Adara had been when trying to fight off her kidnappers that he was going to keep her alive and make her the loyal heir to his business. It was only when the man shifted into his wolf form that Adara realised they were dealing with werewolves and she was going to be turned into one to force her obedience to this loan shark - the alpha of the pack. All she remembers is screaming through her gag as his jaws clamped down on her arm and then blacking out.
Adara awoke the next morning feeling more ill than she ever had before in her young life. It was only three days until the next full moon and she felt so sick that she could barely move from the bed she had been put in, let alone put up a fight against her captors. She fluctuated between shivering and burning up, and her brief periods of lucidness were spent with two of the loan shark’s henchmen who explained that she would have to answer to Viago, the alpha of the pack and the loan shark when she transitioned into a werewolf. When they told her that she had to make a kill when she changed for the first time or she would be a slave to the moon, she decided that she would not. At least then she would only have to become a wolf once a month, but Viago had already suspected this would be her response and so when the full moon came, he put her into a locked cellar along with a rabbit in a wooden cage. Adara was unable to resist the urge to kill when she shifted into her wolf form for the first time, and when she awoke the next morning and found herself next to a splintered cage and a small pile of bones, she knew that she would be unable to stop herself from changing if Viago ordered it. As the alpha of the pack, she was forced to be obedient to him whether she liked it or not and trying to resist his orders made her feel physically sick. She was both a slave and a prisoner in this new pack, and she swore that day that she would have her revenge on Viago. She didn’t know how, as there was not much one girl could do, but one day she would have her revenge. She just had to bide her time.
For the next few years, Adara was forced to obey every whim of her alpha. Viago loaned out money to desperate people and gave them a deadline to pay it back with interest. If they didn’t, then his thugs would use violence and take anything even slightly of value. Viago kept her away from the violence at first, ironically trying to protect her innocence when she had already cut off a man’s fingers, been held at knife point and had been turned into a werewolf. But eventually, Viago started to let her in on the business. At first it was just helping to count up the money, but she gradually became more and more involved until she was finally allowed out with two of Viago’s henchmen to collect an owed debt. She was told to just stand on the sidelines and watch how it was done, and she obliged, watching how debt collection was conducted on Viago’s behalf. She looked like an interested heir to the business, but a plan for revenge had been forming in Adara’s mind for a long time. If standing on the sidelines was all she was allowed to do, then she would make the most of it. She stood by and listened, and when she wasn’t eavesdropping then she was training to become faster, stronger and harder. When she overheard that Viago had fallen ill, she knew her time for revenge had come. Over the years, she had carefully been testing the strength of her bond to the alpha and had discovered that she could resist it with practice. And when she heard that her alpha was ill, she challenged him for his position. It shocked the pack, as no one had ever dared to challenge Viago, especially not a young woman. But she did, and the challenge was accepted and everyone prepared for Adara’s death. But they didn’t know the things that she knew. Not only did she know that Viago’s illness was more severe than he was letting on, but she also knew that he cared enough about her that he would be hesitant to strike a killing blow, whereas she would not. The fight began and although the other wolves had initially expected Adara’s death in the first five minutes, it soon became clear that her years of training had paid off. Viago was older and weaker and hadn’t wanted to fight Adara in the first place, whereas she was young and strong and had years of anger bottled up inside her. The battle was vicious with fur and blood flying, and Adara did not escape injury, but she managed to pin Viago and tore out his throat without a second thought. With Viago dead, there was a shift in the air, and Adara let out a great howl as she became the new alpha of the pack.
She could have easily disbanded the pack and gone to find her brother, but Adara had different ideas. She was the new alpha and had access to Viago’s fortune, and so rather than leave, she decided to stick around and take over the business, becoming the youngest alpha ever. A year has passed since then, and Adara has proved herself to be an excellent alpha. She commands respect from every member of her pack and unlike Viago, she gave them the opportunity to leave the pack if they wished. Only two wolves actually left, the rest were so impressed with Adara’s leadership that they remained. Unlike Viago, Adara did not keep all the profits from the loan shark business, but divvied up the wealth among the pack as a sign of appreciation for their loyalty. As an alpha, she was firm but fair and they respected her for it. But as fair as she is, Adara can be terrifying when she wants to be and people have soon learned that when they come to her for a loan, she will not let them off their debts to her so easily just because she’s a young woman. As an alpha, she is better than Viago ever was, but as a loan shark, she is far more terrifying.
Connections:
Maven Ryker - Twin Brother. Although she could easily have sought out her brother when Viago was dead, she was still furious with him. She blames Maven and his gambling addiction for her kidnapping and transformation into a werewolf. She had been a promising young witch at one point and that was taken away because he refused to pay beck a debt he owed. She doesn’t know that Maven has turned his life around, all she knows is that she doesn’t ever want to see him again.

The High Houses — House Lethe
History:
Before the Gods’ defeat, Tríscéalta was ruled by gods and beings. Humans weren’t treated well, they were the weaker and lower creations of the gods. It was hard to earn respect but exactly that was Vera Lethe’s goal. She wanted to show the talents of humanity.
She was born in one the central towns of legends as a servant of beings. But only a few years after she was born, the beings acknowledged her intelligence and interest in architecture. They sent her to the best teachers and architects they could afford and Vera Lethe grew into the most famous architectress.
Because of her fame, all kinds of beings and gods wanted her to design and build their houses, but she refused to build something which only powerful and glorious livings could enjoy. She was determined to create a magnificent place for everyone. And so she did.
Vera worked on a beautiful metropolis, designed for beings, gods and humans. It took decades to think of and build everything but after half a century the metropolis is finally finished, finally Finscéala was born.
Everyone fell in love with Finscéala’s beauty and idea of peace, so it was chosen to be the capital of the realm of legends. And because all were so grateful to the creator of their new home, Vera Lethe, they made her and her family to the first human high house.
Vera reached her goal. She showed the world the power and worthiness of humans. Only a few years after the capital was finished, she died with a smile on her lips. But the Lethe house didn’t die, her heirs carried her talents with them and gained even more importance in Tríscéalta.
After the gods were finally defeated, the realm of legends needed a new ruler and humans as well as beings chosed one of the best allies they had. The Head of House Lethe, Leopold Damon Lethe, became King of the Legends and so High House Lethe turned into the Royal House.

Maven Ryker ❖ 29 ❖ Warlock ❖ Healer ❖ Living in Zagoré ❖ FC: Colin Morgan ❖ OPEN
+ UTP
- UTP
Biography:
Maven Ryker has always been a risk-taker, ever since he was a child. He has tried to work out why once or twice and he has come to the conclusion that losing his mother to illness and his father to a hunting accident a few years later made him a risk-taker. Seeing both his parents die before they had hit middle age made him believe that life was for living, and that meant taking risks. But Maven took stupid and pointless risks as his grandparents and twin sister often pointed out. He would pick fights with the wrong people, bet his savings in gambling dens and have drinking competitions with alcoholics, all in the name of ‘living life to the fullest’. He thought that risks were what life was about, and never realised that he had been sucked into a downwards spiral as he became addicted to gambling. He had even taken up a risky job to fund his gambling addiction, not that Maven cared. Travelling to Calydon to compete in the fighting pits was nothing compared to what would happen to him if he couldn’t gamble. Unfortunately, being battered and bruised to within an inch of his life for money could not keep up with his gambling, and he had to resort to borrowing money from some very dangerous people. But a loan shark didn’t scare Maven - he knew he was strong and fast enough to outmatch at least a few of his men if it came down to a physical fight and even if he ended up hurt, he didn’t care. But Maven had borrowed money from the cunning loan shark, Viago Farring, and he had sussed out Maven’s weakness the second he was late repaying his debt. Viago knew that Maven wasn’t scared of a good fight - in fact, he was probably counting on it - and if they couldn’t scare him into paying up through violence against him, then they could certainly scare him with violence against someone else: His sister, Adara.
Viago summoned Maven to his office to give him one last chance to pay off his debts, but he walked in with his usual amount of swagger and told Viago that he didn’t have so much as one penny on him to pay off his debt - just as the loan shark had expected. With one click of his fingers, a curtain was drawn back and Maven stopped dead in his tracks when he saw his sister bound and gagged. Before he could go to her, he was pinned to the floor by two of Viago’s henchmen. Maven could hold his own in a fight against a few men, but even he could become outnumbered and despite his struggles, the brawn of the men keeping him pinned to the floor proved too much and he couldn’t fight them off. As he watched helplessly, one of the other henchmen pressed a knife against his sister’s throat, forcing Maven to listen to Viago for once. He explained that Maven had been given enough chances to pay his debt and he knew that he would never be able to scrape together enough money in time for yet another deadline, so he had decided to take his sister as payment. Their grandparents had been killed by his henchmen when they had gone to kidnap the girl because they had gotten in the way, and he had originally intended to kill Adara too if Maven didn’t show up with the money, but she was so ferocious when she was kidnapped that one of his men had lost two fingers when she’d managed to grab a kitchen knife, and he had been impressed. He needed ferocity like that, and since he had never been blessed with a child of his own, he had decided that Adara would make an excellent heir to his business. Maven had to laugh at that, despite the dire circumstances he was under. Adara was loyal and she wouldn’t become Viago’s little lapdog just because he told her so. But then the truth dawned on him - Viago was the alpha of a pack of werewolves, all of whom were involved in his money-lending business. Some of them had to hate the violence that came with the job, yet they still did it, and why? Because werewolves are obedient to the alpha of their pack. Viago was going to turn Adara into a werewolf to ensure her obedience, and the realisation made Maven start to struggle again. But there was nothing he could do, and just to make the whole ordeal more painful for him, Viago made him watch as he turned into his wolf form and clamped his jaws down on his sister’s arm. The next second, he felt a hand on the back of his head smash his face into the ground and everything went black.
The next morning, he awoke in an alley with a broken nose and the more painful recollection of what had happened to his sister. Despite his woozy state, Maven took to the streets to find out where Viago had gone with his sister only to find out that a tavern owner had seen a man matching his description leaving the city last night with a number of other men and a girl unconscious in the back of a wagon. With a sinking heart, Maven realised that Viago had shut up shop and had moved on to a new place to continue his business, just so Maven couldn’t get his sister back. That day, Maven decided to turn his life around. Because he enjoyed taking stupid risks, he had just lost the only thing in his life that he actually cared about, and he couldn’t continue on this road he had mapped out for himself. Like a sign from the gods, as Maven went to a healer to have his wounds cared for, he remembered that in his innocent childhood, he had wanted to be a healer himself. He knew it was a career path that would make his sister proud, and he devoted himself to learning the art form as he travelled from kingdom to kingdom, searching for Adara. Although none of the kingdoms enjoyed trespassers in their lands, they could make an exception for a healer with no ill intentions towards anyone, as long as he was carefully watched.
It has been five years since Adara was taken from him by Viago, and Maven has never stopped searching for her in some capacity, either by physically going from town to town or questioning anyone with the slightest bit of information on Viago Farring, but has never been able to get anything other than a few witness reports of the pack moving around, and the trail had always gone cold by the time he found where they had been spotted. But Maven refuses to give up. Although old habits die hard, and the temptation of gambling still lures him in from time to time, he is determined to stay on his mission. He moves from town to town, healing the sick and injured to earn his living, which goes straight into funding for his search for Adara. As desperate as he is to find Adara, Maven is worried of what will happen if he does ever find her - will her loyalty to Viago mean that she won’t want to see him? Will she have been conditioned to hate him? He has so many questions and no answers, but one thing he knows above everything else is that he will stop at nothing to get Adara back.
Connections:
Adara Ryker - Twin Sister. Although their grandparents were really the ones to raise her, Maven has always doted on his sister, but his gambling addiction prevented him from spending much time with her and now it is too late. She was taken as compensation by his loan shark and turned into a werewolf, but that’s all Maven knows despite searching for her ever since. He has no idea that his sister ended up challenging Viago for the alpha position and won, becoming the new alpha of the pack and the new deadly loan shark.
