About AC Unity (1)
Another AC played so it’s time to talk about it!
I was really interested in Unity since it was released and I’ve enjoyed it a lot. I’m gonna try not to ramble but it’s gonna be a long post and this time I’m going to split up in three parts XD
Obviously there are spoilers
About the main story:
I like it and I think it’s well written but I find it too short. Besides I miss a comforting ending ;_; we see Arno losing a lot of things during the story and how that affects him, but we don’t get to see how he recovers from all that. The dlc attempts to show us that process a little bit but like the main story it’s too short.
About Arno:
AC always caught my interest but Unity has been the first that got my attention because of the protagonist XD. I love his design and his character. He is soooooo beautiful XD and sassy but also gentle and romantic. Arno is definitely my fav assassin.
-Can you not?-
I love those little details on his clothes and house where you can see how messy he is (he doesn’t know know how to dress nor how to make the bed XD).
- Some examples :P -
Arno is a character that seems tough but in fact he is broken.
He has been reminding himself that his father died for his fault since he was 8 ;_;
-The true culprit-
And then he blame himself because of de La Serre’s death, he is forced to kill his mentor, and to watch Elise die without being able to do anything. He can´t be alone, he needs people around or he falls into despair and wine. It’s curious how the fandom has this protective instinct with Connor (me too), and not with Arno who among all the assassins is the one who need a hug the most XD
-Are you sure?-
When he is kicked out from the brotherhood, but you keep the hidden blades and the café, I was like ‘great, you’ve turned him into Batman X_D‘
-Exhibit A-
Long story short: I love him :3

AC Unity (2)
(Part 1)
About Elise
Elise is smart and brave, she has personality and her own goals and even though I like her as a character I didn't get to sympathise with her because she is too reckless and sometimes a little bit selfish. The Spanish dub doesn't help her either. They chose an actress with a high-pitched voice and there are scenes in which it is unbearable to hear her.
-Typical Elise-
But what I like the least about Elise is that I felt her death pointless and totally subjected to Arno's story. In fact, they're yelling at you that Elise will die almost from the very beginning when they show you how she jumps towards the danger, and sometimes it seems she has more interest in dying than in getting revenge.
We have many stories with male protagonists whose motivation is vengeance and who get their goal without problems. But Elise dies, as it is usual with assassins and male protagonits' girlfriends in general. And this trope is becoming a little boring already.
-”Then write” Applause-
And the worst is that she doesn't even get to see her revenge completed, at least they could have given her that >:(
The farewell letter she wrote to Arno made cry an ocean.
About Arno and Elise
Another thing that got my attention in Unity was the fact that romance was an important element of the plot. I think their story is well narrated with some details that I liked well enough, but they don’t have the type of dynamic that I like and they’re not OTP material for me.
I think that even though they love each other, their story is broken since the moment De Laserre dies. Elise loves Arno, but revenge is way more important for her. That’s way while Arno helps her she want him beside her and as soon as she notices he is not as invested as her she rejects him.
I really liked Elise’s letters. In them what she feels is better shown than what she shows when she interacts with Arno face to face and I like that duality. I think that the letters are the projection of what they would like their relationship to be but not of what it is in this moment of their lives.
