I dont know were to start with this but on Sunday, January 26, 2020 the world lost a living legend by the name of Kobe Bean Bryant. Words cant describe how I felt earlier when I first heard the news. I didnt want to believe it at all, I was praying and hoping that it was all fake. Then Adrian Wojnarowski whos one of the biggest sports reporters dropped his infamous woj bomb...but it was one woj bomb I wish he didnt drop. He confirm that Kobe has passed away in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. Not only that but his daughter GiGi along with Coach Alltobelli, Wife Keri and daughter Alyassa were also part of the Crash😔My whole body was in shock, like it was numb, I felt cold, and it seem like the world just stop for a moment. It was one of those things that you couldnt believe that it actually happened. Until now, I'm still in disbelief with the news. Anyways, I just wanna share the impact Kobe had on me on as a player/fan of the game.

As a fan growing up kobe was my Michael Jordan of my era. He had the moves like MJ, the swag, and that killer instinct when needed. He would never back down from anybody, he didnt care who and how good you were. He went into every game knowing that he was gonna destroy you or whoever was guarding him. Kobe just had that mentality, like he said before "once you smell the blood, you gotta go in for the kill!" Thats were the Mamba mentality takes over, once he gets into that mode its pretty much GG and your best bet is hoping to contain him. Just ask Alvin Gentry and Jalen Rose, they know about it.

He would also destroy you mentally, and take you out your game. If you were weak, best believe he will expose you and you that against you. No matter how good of player you are, once he got in your head. That was it, he already won before the game even started. He would probably dap you up before the game, have a nice conversation with you, and just catch up. Once tip-off starts though thats it, be prepared because it was going to be a long night of buckets and trash talking.

I always knew whenever Kobe was playing, it was must watch Television. Especially the 2009-2010 season were he had like multiple game winners, but the one that stuck to me the most was the one he hit on Wade and the heat! Down two with like 3-4 seconds left, Kobe hit a One foot leaning to the left Dirk type jumper off the backboard to seal the win for the Lakeshow. Kobe was having a bad shooting night too, he went 3-15 I believe (correct me if Im wrong) but that shot was crazy and the reaction from Flash was Priceless.

A other favorite Kobe moment, actually performance of mine would be his game 6 performance against the Suns in the 2010 Western Conference Finals. Shoutouts to my best friend but man Kobe was giving them the business, shot after shot. Not just your average jumpers but hand in the face contested like crazy jumpers, I remember one he hit on Grant Hill. Grant was playing amazing defense, didnt fall for Kobes pump fakes but somehow Kobe still found a way to score and afterwards gave Alvin Gentry a slap on the butt. Mamba was definitely cashing out that game and that performance will always be one of my favorites.

As a student of the game, watching kobe from his afro days to the switch up from 8 to 24 in the 06-07 season. His game transition pretty well as he got older. When he was rocking 8, his game was mostly based off of athleticism and hot/cold streaks when it came to shooting. Now dont get me wrong his jumper was getting there but it wasnt as consistent when he switch to 24. His defense was good, not great yet but good. Imo he was always a solid defender. He did keep AI in check when they met in the finals in 2001, except that game one. Other then the 3 peat he had with Shaq, and arguably the best duo of time. His most memorable moment though with the number 8, would have to be his 81 point performance against Toronto. The second most points in a game in NBA history and to do it at Staples Center, Amazing!

Imo though when Kobe switch to 24, thats when he peaked and was the best version of himself. thats when his game went to another level. He was more sound on offense and better discipline on defense. from his off season workouts with Hakeem to improve his footwork to endless sideline to sideline shuffles to improve his defense and his fadeway was unguardable. All he needed was a little bit of room to get it off, and no matter how good of a contest you got. if you didnt block it that was it, It was going in. His offense was so smooth and the amount of detail he put into every move was a beautiful thing to watch. Equivalent to the sweet science of boxing! Such a gifted player on both sides of the ball, he was such an enjoyment to watch.

Another thing that is lowkey slept on with Kobe was his defense. We all knew how great of a scorer he was, and didnt pay that much attention to his defense. Honestly, he is probably one of the best on ball defenders of all time. He would fight through screens, switch on everything, and always wanted to guard the teams best player and that right there shows how much he cares about defense. Not only hes clamping up your teams best player but hes also giving you buckets on the other end! He always wanted a challenge and never back down from one.

Lastly before I wrap this up, his work ethic was undeniable. He was never satisfied with himself, he would always work on something until he perfected it. No matter how small or big the challenge was, he was gonna do it and do it right too! The mamba hated failing, his work ethic was shown throughout the years and his game spoke for itself. He earned everything, nothing was giving and unfortunately thats rare to see nowadays.

The game will truely miss you Kobe😔Thank you for all the memories you shared with us, everything you taught us, all your accomplishments on and off the court will always be remembered, but most importantly Thank you for everything you have done for the game. The impact you made on everybody! From all the athletes, celebrities, fans, and people who dont follow the sport like that. They all showing you love, that right there, the impact you made on us is remarkable. A Dad, Husband, Role Model, Friend, and a Legend gone way too soon! Request: Can you do a William Nylander one where you’re tougher and you hide you’re pregnant from him. He finds out somehow. He gets really really mad but it all ends up ok in the end? 😘

Notes: Wow this became way longer than i anticipated sorry lmao. As always, I hope you like it! Let me know what you think :)

“FUCK YES!” You screamed, jumping up from the couch and wildly punching the air in celebration. The Toronto Maple Leafs had just won game 6 with a final score of 1-3, effectively forcing a game 7 and you couldn’t be prouder of your boyfriend and his team. You were a little disappointed that you weren't able to see this game in person, especially given that it was the last home game of the series, but you knew that what you had done instead was more important. You had spent the first period of the game watching from your phone, trying not to yell at the players in the middle of the OB/GYN’s office you were sitting in.

After about a week of anxiously peeing on every drug store pregnancy test you were able to sneak past your boyfriend, you were finally able to make an appointment to have an official test done by actual licensed medical professionals. Unfortunately, however, they weren’t able to get you in until about two weeks later. Which was exactly one day before the first game of the playoffs. It barely took any time at all for you to draw the conclusion that there was no fucking way you were telling William about this now, not during the playoffs. He had more than enough on his plate and, frankly, you were pretty terrified of how he would respond to the news. At least, if you waited until after the playoffs, you would be able to pack up your stuff and leave without it catching the eye of the public. It didn’t seem like a huge possibility that it would actually come to that, but throughout your life, you had learned fairly early to always expect the worst. At your first appointment, you had discovered that you were, in fact, pregnant and had been for almost 2 months. You were honestly blown away that it had taken you this long to notice, but you had missed periods due to stress before and it wasn’t like these past few months were particularly calm, so it kind of made sense. Because of the high-stress nature of your life and the unpredictability of your schedule, your doctor had asked you to schedule a follow-up appointment a couple weeks later in order to form a routine check-up schedule.

The nurse practitioner had given you a weird look when she noticed you watching a hockey game on your phone during the ultrasound, but you weren’t in a position to go around telling stranger that you were pregnant with William Nylander’s child, so all you could do was smile sheepishly and ask for 3 prints of the ultrasound pictures. After your appointment, you had immediately called your two best friends and asked them to meet you at your house to watch the remainder of the game together. During the second intermission, you casually reached into your pocket and nonchalantly laid one of the strips of photos on the coffee table in front of you. It had taken the two a second to realize what exactly you had just placed in front of them, but once they did the pair were immediately jumping on you and screaming directly into your ear. You laughed loudly as the three of you began to roll around on the floor, shaking each other out of excitement.

“Why didn’t you tell us you had another appointment today? We would have come with you, bitch!” Brooklyn chirped, pushing your shoulder gently but with an ounce of genuine hurt in her eyes.

“I’m sorry! You know I love you guys but… if I cant have Willy there then I’d kind of just rather do it by myself, ya know?” You said with a shrug, looking down at the floor. ��Plus, I didn’t want a repeat of last time,” you blushed, remembering the look on the Nurse’s face when the three of you showed up with your hands intertwined, asking for a pregnancy test. In retrospect, the conclusion she had drawn was justified, but the implication of the three of you being in a polyamorous sapphic relationship had become a running joke throughout the past few weeks. The three of you began to settle down as the game continued as you jumped back into your enthusiastic —and occasionally infuriated— commentary.

You smiled as you heard the front door open a few hours later, after the game has concluded and your excitement from the win died off, you and your girls had turned on some mindless reality show and began filling each other in on everything that had occurred in your lives since the last time you all were able to hang out alone together. You quickly untucked your feet from under the couch cushion and moved to get up, letting out an audible gasp as the room started spinning and your legs fell out from under you as soon as you stood.

“Babe!” William immediately rushed over to you, gripping both of your elbows and helping you to the couch with a worried look on his face. “Are you alright? He questioned, “What just happened?”

“I’m sure it was nothing, love, I just stood up too fast, that's all,” you lamented, brushing his hair out of his face and pressing a kiss to his forehead with a soft smile. He let out a sigh of relief and pressed his forehead to yours with a smile as he looked deeply into your eyes.

“Okay,” he breathed, letting his eyes fall shut for a moment before pulling back and pressing a kiss to your nose before turning to greet your guests. As he leaned over to hug Steph, Brooklyn leaned over to whisper in your ear. The issue was— Brooklyn had never really mastered the art of actually whispering anything, in fact, you were pretty sure her voice was louder whenever she tried to whisper.

“Are you sure it didn’t have anything to do with th-“

“Brooklyn!” You yelled, quickly cutting her off before she could ruin everything.

“shit,” Steph said from your other side, realizing the weight of what Brooklyn may have just done.

“Anything to do with what?” William questioned, furrowing his eyebrows as he turned towards you.

“The Chinese food we ordered!” You hurriedly supplied, gesturing to the leftover takeout containers on the coffee table. “We tried a new place and I was pretty sure the Crab Rangoon tasted funny,” you shrugged, hoping that he would believe your lie.

“What are you talking about?” He said, even more confused now. “We always get Wall of China,” he spoke, picking up the bag that was resting on the edge of the table. The second the bag left the table however, William froze and stopped speaking.

“…Willy?” You questioned, unsure of what would cause him to react in such a way. It took you a few more seconds until your eyes flickered down to where he was staring and you caught sight of the rope of pictures you had left sitting there, out in the open, in the middle of the living room. ‘Fuck,’ you thought, ‘fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck’, you repeated. There was no way you were going to be able to get out of this now. Your fucking name was on the top of the pictures, for fuck's sake.

“Will…don’t freak out,” you spoke gently, stepping closer to him and reaching out to lay your hand on his shoulder. As soon as your fingers got close enough to brush the fabric of his suit, however, he violently jerked away from you with a betrayed look in his eyes. You saw your friends discreetly move towards the front door out of the corner of your eye as William continued to back away from you.

“Don’t- Don’t freak out? Are you fucking kidding me?! That's all you have to say to me right now?” He questioned wildly, his features becoming contorted with anger. “You’re fucking pregnant. And you didn’t tell me. You’re fucking pregnant enough to have pictures and go to appointments and tell your fucking friends and you didn’t FUCKING TELL ME?” He screamed, spit flying from his mouth as he threw the pictures back down onto the coffee table, raking his hands through his hair violently while spinning around the room, trying to look at literally anything except for you right now.

“William I just didn’t think it was the right ti-“

“That's not your place to fucking decide, (Y/N). Its my fucking kid too and I had right to figure out the moment you did! I can't fucking believe you!!” He continued yelling, this time stalking closer to you until he was close enough to you that you could feel the air punctuating every word as he screamed into your face.

“This is exactly why I didn’t fucking tell you, you asshole!” You screamed right back, unwilling to let him try to demean you for doing what you thought was best. “I knew you were gonna fucking react like this and I didn’t want to have to deal with packing up all my shit while you were in the middle of fucking playoffs! I thought this was the goddamn last thing you needed on your plate right now but ex-fucking-scuse me for actually thinking about anyone other than myself for once! Maybe you should take notes, jackass.” You finished, punctuating the end of your argument by slamming your shoulder into his as you moved to the kitchen to grab your keys so you could go to a friends house for the night. You whirled around as you felt his hand encircle your wrist, immediately ready to stand your ground. The look on William’s face had you faltering and the fire immediately left your eyes as you noticed the tear running down his face.

“p-packing up…?” He questioned softly, “you- you’re leaving me?” His voice broke as he forced out the sentence, each word punctuated with a sob as additional tears streamed down his face.

“Baby,” you started, feeling the walls you had forced up start to cave as you watched your boyfriend try, in vain, to force himself to stop crying, only succeeding in working himself up further. “Only if that's what you want.” You finished lamely with a shrug, unsure of where this was going.

“Wh-Why would I want you to leave?” His tears ceased as confusion took over his soft features once again.

“Cause! You’re 21! You’re at the pinnacle of your career! You barely have time to breathe let alone for me and a fucking baby, William. It wouldn’t be fair to you, or to the kid, to force either of you into that,” You took a breath to calm yourself down. “I know what it feels like to have a dad that doesn’t wanna be there. And I know what it feels like to have a mom that doesn’t have time for you,” your voice thickened despite how hard you were trying to force back the tears you could feel approaching. You rolled your shoulders back and removed your wrist from his grip, you made eye contact with him and prepared yourself for what was to come. “I know what that feels like and I swear to god I will never put my kid through that. Ever. Regardless of what it costs me,” you said firmly, desperate to hold onto what little composure you had left.

“our,” William said, collecting your hands into his once more, despite your efforts to pull away.

“What?” You questioned, not understanding what he was trying to say.

“you said ‘my kid.’ It's not just your kid, its out kid. And I’m not going to put our baby through that either, regardless of what it costs me,” he insisted, pulling your hands to rest on his chest as he wrapped his arms around your waist. “I’d give up the Leafs. I’d give up hockey. I’d give up breathing. Fuck, (Y/N). I love you. And I love our baby. And no matter what happens or what comes, nothing is going to change that. Ever.” He insisted, pressing a kiss to your forehead as he used his thumb to wipe away the tears that had begun to slide down your face.

“I love you too,” you laughed through your tears, your heart filling with relief that you were lucky enough to have fallen in love with a human being as genuine and kind as the one standing before you.

“and we love you,” William spoke, moving your joint hands to rest just above your belly button.

“That we do,” you whispered quietly, stroking your hand through his hair as his thumb rubbed circles into your stomach.

Habsfan98 NHL 2018/2019 season opinions

Anaheim Ducks

This team better hope to god that Ondrej Kase and Rickard Rakell can make up for Corey Perry looks like his age these days. Gibson better be prepared for a lot of shots this year.

Arizona Coyotes

Please don't start your season without a regulation win in more than 20 games again. A healthy Antti Raanta will make you way more competitive.

Boston Bruins

That top line is going to be the best part of this team. It would be a shame if Tuukka Task were to regress this season. A real shame....

Buffalo Sabres

Jeff Skinner, Jack Eichel, and Ramus Dahlin the best defensive prospect you've had in decades. Look out, the climb from rock bottom has begun.

Calgary Flames

So you trade Hamilton for a younger still developing defenceman Noah Hanifin and forward Elias Lindholm. Then you guys decided to hire Bill Peters. The Hurricanes called: they don't want there old coach back.

Carolina Hurricanes

Last year the Hurricanes under achieved, but the expectations were way to high for a team full of very young guys. This year the expectations are way to high, but are slightly justified.

Chicago Blackhawks

Is Corey Crawford still suffering Vertigo? Yes? Well then the Blackhawks aren't a playoff team. Unless Seabrook has a bounce back from last season, and Toews remembers how much he's being paid. The dynasty is on hiatus.

Colorado Avalanche

Nathan MacKinnon is the best player on this team. You better make sure you remember that Avs. Cause, you'll need his to follow up that last season's monster performance; to get into the playoffs.

Columbus Blue Jackets

Sergei Bobrovsky is the best player on this team. The most important player on this team. The reason this franchise is even relevant. Make sure you extend him. You can't afford to lost him. YOU. CANT.

Dallas Stars

New coach, and eight more years of Tyler Seguin. This team more than anything needs a balance of strong forechecking, puck moving defenseman, and Ben Bishop to stop getting hurt.

Detroit Red Wings

Ken Holland needs to just tell Red Wings fans he's rebuilding. With Zetterberg done for good. You better hope Larkin, Mantha, and Athanasiou make major strides this season.

Edmonton Oilers

Get McDavid some fucking forwards that can skate and shoot! And find someone who will take the Lucic contract. He needs to go. Oh! And get Talbot a actual back up too! That's literally all y'all need! (Maybe another defenseman won't hurt)

Florida Panthers

Start the season strong Panthers. Start the season with a winning record in October, and you might be consistent enough to make the post season. You've got the piece. Now get your shit together.

Los Angeles Kings

This team is old, big, and slow. A perfect team for the fast paced moder NHL! This team can still make the playoffs with Quick in net. But they really need some quality skating youth.

Minnesota Wild

Is Devan Dubnyk still your goalie? Yes? Then you a playoff bubble team congrats. This team feels fractured, veterans on their last few years, mild aged guys that overachieved, and young guys that are unproven. This will be an interesting year in the state of hockey.

Montreal Canadiens

This team has no natural scorers. The best center they're hoping for is a first round draft pick in Jesperi Kotkaniemi, who btw is 18 years old. Because this worked out so well before.... *Cough* Galchenyuk! *Cough* Carey Price will have it play like 2014 if they have want even a chance at the playoffs.

Nashville Predators

Pekka Rinne isn't getting any younger. While he defied his age last year. The Preds window of cup contention only stays open, if he plays at this ability again. Even with the solid defensive core the team has.

New Jersey Devils

Unless Taylor Hall has another Hart trophy winning season and Corey Schneider becomes the solid goalie that this team needs again. Y'all are missing the playoffs. It's that fucking simple.

New York Islanders

Mat Barzal is your future. That's the only bright spot for this team. Good luck trying to fill two areas this season with a bad hockey team, with no playoff hopes anymore.

New York Rangers

Admitting you have a problem is the first steps. The Rangers gave their fans a heads up that they closed the door on cup contention for a rebuild. A smart move. It a shame for the current fan base. The question remains. What happens to Henrik Lundqvist?

Ottawa Senators

This team is going to suck... No buts, ands, or ifs about it! You have a unintimidating forward core, a paper mache defense, and a goalie who use to good. This team is the Miami Marlins of hockey. Pathetic...

Philadelphia Flyers

Solid Forward core, up and coming defenseman that look really good. This team should be a playoff team, maybe even a contender- Oh shit your goaltending still sucks and is up in the air? That's a shame huh?

Pittsburgh Penguins

This team has some key injuries to players last season again the Capitals. This season, those players are older, and will have to still play like there younger to try and win a third cup in four years. At least y'all still have Crosby and Malkin.

San Jose Sharks

This team is the true cup contenders of the West. Well until either Vegas missed the post season, or they beat them. Eric Karlsson makes this team a true force of nature on paper. It's good to be a Sharks fan these days.

St. Louis Blues

One point. That's all it took for you to miss the playoffs, after a season of injury bug. Maybe a new season without the injury bug makes you a post season team? *Check the division teams* ok... Maybe a bubble team at best? I'm trying to be positive Blues fans. I'm trying.

Tampa Bay Lightning

This team will make it back to the playoffs. What the Lightning want to avoid is doing what they did against Washington in games 6 and 7. Avoid that and you'll do fine. Go Rang- I mean Bolts!

Toronto Maple Leafs

John Tavares, Mitch Marner, Austin Matthews. Three names, that have given the city of Toronto more hope of winning the Stanley Cup, than any other names in the last 40 years. If you can maybe get some better defenseman. This teams a cup contender. What a strange time it is.

Vancouver Canucks

Every sign at Rogers arena should say! Still Rebuilding. Come back next year. The Canucks have good pieces, but still need a bit more to make a new machine. They're on the right track. It just not this year for a completion date.

Vegas Golden Knights

After shocking the hockey/sports world, (And pissing off cry baby fans bases across the NHL) The Golden Knights lost some piece, the replaced them with players that are slightly younger, but just as good. Expect youth to step up and take this team to back to the top. Or they regress dramatically and they miss the playoffs because they over achieved hard last season!

Washington Capitals

The defending Stanley Cup champion Capitals! Will make the playoffs again, since they're basically the same team. Winning it again, is whole other issues. The team has remained relatively the same. The other teams in the division/conference didn't. Good luck champs.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets were a very solid team last year. Excellent forwards, great defenseman, but the thing that has propelled this team into cup contention; goaltending. Connor Charles Hellebuyck is your Carey Price. Do. Not. Over. Work him. The team has grown a proper defensive responsibility. Rest won't kill the guy. Trust me. When the playoffs come. It'll be worth it.

Hi, goodmorning! 💕 I hope youre okay and also haven't traveled to France to k*ll the whole OGC Nice team especially the defense apart from Kasper. 😬 I still only know the result but thought maybe I should start watching these matches because I’ve stopped being superstitious or rather believe I’m good luck these days instead of bad. 🤪 Last week I watched the Inter vs Lazio Rome match because I wanted to see Romagnoli’s new team trash Inter altho I didn’t really believe it but then thats exactly what happened! 😁😁 So I’ll try and watch the next Nice matches and hope it’ll help it’s also early in the season still so maybe theyll manage to steady themselves. 🤞

For Milan I will just shut up from now on, be careful what you wish for I guess because the line up for todays match was just announced and Sandro is not in it however, hes on the bench so no sexy glasses for us, this is not a good compromise! 😐 Unless he wants to play with them which would be fine with me but I dont think its safe. 😆 The good news is that Simon is starting together with Fik in defense and I’m looking forward to that so much I’ve never seen them play together and apparently they were great last season. Im also so happy for Simon he was constantly posting about how much hes looking forward to playing again so they absolutely need to win and make sure he gets a good first match back!

You dont want to watch full matches tho, the difference in quality between the MLS and the top Europe leagues is crazy! None of the teams would survive in Serie A or Premier league. 😅😅 Yeah the problem with football is you cant just watch one team or maybe players you like because you also need to keep track off all the context like the leagues and cups there playing in and players keep transferring to other clubs or there in the same club but then play against each other with their national teams or from the same country and then their teams face each other in the league 🤪🤪..its all a big mess and I love every thing about it!! Most of the time atleast. 🤣 x

Hello hello!! I've been not so great. 😂😭 Yeah these games have been killing.. I'm actually going to stop watching for a while live matches because I've worked it in my brain that *I* am the bad luck and the one causing all this disaster.... yeah I never said I was the most stable 😅 HONEY IF YOU ARE GOOD LUCK PLEASE I BEG YOU WATCH NICE IF YOU CAN MANAGE!! I was rather out of it yesterday and didn't manage to watch that game but it's probably for the better because they would have lost if I watched I'm certain 😭 I miss watching Simon play and I miss watching Milan play but I remember the last game I tuned into to they literally conceded not even 2 full minutes after I did that so... I don't want to risk that again.. I'll just catch up with the matches after they happen. Now Juve? That is the club to watch for me. Everything seems to be going on with that club... and I love drama so.. gotta keep an eye on them again 😏😂

Keeping up with football is SO hard!! There's too many guys, too many leagues, too many cups.. it's all confusion. Especially when transfer windows roll around... IT'S TOO MUCH TO KEEP UP WITH AND I HAVE BUT A TINY LITTLE BIRD BRAIN 😂😭

turns out i have to decide abt which uni to go to before monday. yay fucking y a y. ok im still so unsure i mean i know i know “follow your dreams” etc etc but dude… listen…. dat good ol depression with aanxiety with trauma are making this way harder than it probably is?? anyways here’s a list of pros and cons in case anyone wants to try to help idk dont feel pressured im just so so so stressed and overwhelmed and also depressed but like not super sad depressed more like “jfc why dont i just give up and idk maybe go back to my home country and try to live there or just kms or smth so i stop being a burden”

anyways.

close to my parents (aka if thigns go to shit or i get sick yadda yadda i have ppl close by

i actually know ppl who live in the area

got a scsholarship so in the end (2yrs) it will be like 17k cheaper (huge af difference)
