William Gaunt guests as (ex) RAF Flight Lieutenant Mike Gregory, now a potential traitor (!) in The Saint: Flight Plan (5.13, ITC, 1966)
#fave spotting#william gaunt#richard barrett#the champions#flight plan#1966#the saint#itc#classic tv#character actors#the champions was still a year or two away at this point‚ but Bill was already a well known face on tv#for one thing he was still currently co starring in ATV's long running Victorian set police procedural Sergeant Cork#actually his Cork co star John Barrie had appeared in the previous week's Saint ep (5.12 Locate and Destroy)#it's hard to say bc the shooting and transmission dates of Sgt Cork are a little fuzzy‚ but there's a fair chance the series had finished#production by this point (episodes would air until '68 but in odd dribs and drabs‚ not clear cut seasons)#he's quite fun here as a sketchy pilot who's been thrown out of the airforce and is now working for some shadowy foreign agents#(the exact nationality of the agents is only ever alluded to; they appear to be middle eastern but acting on behalf of soviet parties in#eastern europe). anyway it's up to Simon to save the dav obviously but not before Bill gets shot in the shoulder and has a terrible#time learning his lesson (and flying a fancy plane whilst bleeding heavily)
