Stumped
A mockumentary set in the Twin Peaks universe about the log, past and present. No actors appear, it's just static shots of trees, forests, a log in a chair, and a static shot of a crackling fire.

Most or all of y'all's questions about the WGA strike and the SAG-AFTRA strike could be answered by reading the FAQs on the WGA's strike website and the SAG-AFTRA strike website

Hi, broke student starting out in film here. Neil Gaiman is not the problem rich person in this situation.
The problem is the rich heads of studios and networks are making it hard and impossible for many to get a start or maintain work as a writer or actor because they want to line their pockets, and continue to grow the perceived value of their company in the construct of the stock market. The ways they are doing it also makes it much more difficult to make quality shows and movies, which artists hate, and so should fans!
Neil here has money, frankly I have no idea how much, and personally I don't really care, but he also likes being able to make good art and believes in supporting other artists. Companies want his work and depriving them of that is part of the collective bargaining power we all have. And he broke strike he would be a scab, but by striking he's taking part building a better future for everyone in the industry and the future of the art form. A better future for his colleagues who make less/have so called "real problems." Plus by being vocal about it he's using his fame to educate and fuel that solidarity.
Like there is a difference between having a good chunk of money, and having more than you could spend on anything reasonable in one lifetime while still trying to gain more, and there's a difference between using what you have to fuel things you believe in and lording your money and power over others. Don't let the propaganda get you, remember who the actual enemy is.
Hey Neil! Quick question..
Do you think we'll see custom playlist for Gabriel and/or Beelzebub?
Thank you so much if you answer, bye Neil!
I don't know. They are being made by Amazon Prime Video's marketing department.

….idk sometimes I wanna travel back in time to 2013 and grab myself and shake her like: in just ten years, after the plague has wreacked havoc, the Bad Guys ™ will try to use developments in artificial intelligence to threaten the world’s creatives into economic submission

I don't know what surprises me the most the fact that such a thing as Tree Law exists (we love it, protect the trees) or that apparently everyone on tumblr already knew about it

Take On Memes
An animator is drawn into their creation, and has to navigate through a world of memes, all drawn in the style of a-ha's "Take on Me" music video, except it's faux-rotoscoping since there are no actors, and the whole thing is a silent film.

Fewer new shows and movies releasing might actually be good for fandom as a whole.
Shows nowadays get binge watched right away, people talk about it for a few weeks and then there's at most a few core people staying within the active fandom to still talk about it, produce headcanons, fanfiction, fanart etc. So joining in later leaves you with baerly any fandom experience and people you can talk to, because everyone else seems to have already moved on / isn't interested anymore / is busy with new things.
So forcing us to watch older stuff and actually taking the time to enjoy it instead of switching to the newest media right away actually sounds very relaxing to me.
And there's plenty of older shows that still deserve attention.

You know everything going on with both Writers and Actors going on strike as they so rightfully should and really gives fucking Hollywood something to think about how they terribly treat the people that make this industry what it is.
I'm seriously waiting so hard for Animators and VFX artists and CGI animators / artists within the animation industry to start going on strike as well soon. Because Animators for far too long has been getting a raw deal, but especially with everything going on nowadays with these streaming services that can just obliterate an animated show or movie that you been working on for years or passionately made that can just so easily be turned into lose media like nothing, or have said animated work be removed from the platform entirely with no chance of it being seen ever again or even release as a DVD. Or how lately these Entertainment companies are either overworking or poorly underpaying their Animators and VFX artists very little and just not giving a fuck about them at all.
I'm so ready for Animators and everyone else in the animation industry to just walk out of a studio in-mid production or something because this shit has gotten to be way too much and sad.

This is why I think that the WGA tentative agreement is actually a big victory.
The studios are already counting their loses and trying to undermining through lobbying.

How will actors make a living now since they can't star in any film or television show and participate in press tour events (red carpet, interviews, talk show hosts, etc.) which I'm sure they get paid tons for??
As long as the production company is not affiliated with SAG-AFTRA, then there's always indie films and short films. Here's some other ways to make money that have nothing to do with acting at all:
Paid partnerships through Instagram
A part-time or full-time job in retail clothing
A part-time or full-time job at a restaurants
A part-time or full-time job at a fast food company
DoorDash
Uber Eats
No, I am not joking. There's no telling how long these strikes will last, and they'll need to make money somehow, especially for those who live in or near Los Angeles!
(This is irrelevant, but I think investing in an undergraduate degree at a community college if not university would be a great idea, so that way the actor will have a backup plan. And who knows? Maybe they’ll discover some hidden passions or talents!)
